It’s so shocking to me how much I reference stuff from the Mcyt fandom.

The other day while I was crossing a road, I stopped midway (don’t worry I was safe) and looked both ways in the middle of the road before continuing, and shouted, “Now that is the Taurtis way to do it!” And my dad looked at me like I was truly delusional and I literally froze in shock because I realized he doesn’t even know anything about that series 😭

The worst part is that’s not the only thing. I’ve said ‘Goofing and Gaffing’ a lot, called people pesky birds, and brought up ALOT of things from the Life series/Hermitcraft.

I’ve decided to call it the ‘Mcyt Reference Curse’ since I do it so much :,)

About ImpulseSV in Life Series SMP

So bc of Martyn's status as a Listener, most part of the fandom seems to think that "Watchers enjoy tormenting Martyn THE MOST". I......honestly am not sure about that when ImpulseSV exists. We all remember that Impulse's character arc in 3rd Life is literally betraying Dogwarts (while staying loyal to his day 1 group) and being betrayed by Bdubs. From Martyn's Last Life lore stream, it's confirmed that Watchers created the boogeyman system bc "the angst of the betrayal of Bdubs toward Impulse is so delicious that Watchers want more of it". In Double Life, despite being seen as one of, if not the most healthy couple in the series, Impulse ended up at the wrong end of Bdubs' sword--betrayal by proxy, although not intentional. And I don't feel like I need to repeat what happened in Limited Life since it just ended for a while. Impulse's character is basically about his sometimes questionable loyalty and being backstabbed time and time again. The only exception is Last Life, where Impulse went out being the true Southerner. I mean Martyn backstabbed Grian, Jimmy ran away with Martyn's life, and both Mumbo & Grian had their exile arc for being a red name. Only Impulse was the one staying in his alliance without being backstabbed. So yeah I would say Watchers definitely enjoy Impulse being backstabbed. For Grian there's Icarus Curse, for Jimmy there's Canary Curse......for Impulse I would say Theseus Curse for being betrayed by Phaedra??? But again, MCYT fandom usually referring Tommyinnt as Theseus. I need someone more clever than me to come up with a better curse name for Impulse.

Jimmy

1. Absol (dark)

Absol is commonly known to be a bad omen in the pokemon world. They're able to detect when disasters happen and try to warn people. but as a result people are afraid of them since disaster always followed. Although Absol dors specialise in warning about natural disasters, i'd argue Absol is a good pick as a reference to the life series, being the one to always be doomed to die first.

2. Hisuian basculin/white striped form (water)

So there isn't a cod pokemon. But i thought basculin would be the best to nod to empires s1. The non-Hisuian forms are known to be very agressive, and the 2 forms (red and blue) are constantly fighting. This could be like cod vs salmon. The Hisuian variant is much gentler and might seem like a weird pick but it's because it can evolve. Hisuian Basculin, when fighting and not backing down, can evolve into Basculegion. Which gains its powers from the perished souls of the Basculin who weren't as strong. And I think that shows a pokemon and trainer who don't back down easy.

3. Espurr (psychic)

Honestly I just felt like a cat pokemon was required. And I'm picking Espurr because it's 1. Goofy 2. Fluffy 3. Spacing out. It's the perfext Norman in pokemon in my opinion. Also Espurr lore-wise is supposed to be really strong and I think it'd be funny for Jimmy to just have this tiny cat that can absolutely fuck shit up.

4. Dusknoir (ghost)

This is a pokemon i picked for 2 reasons. For the life series again and for phasmophobia. Although he admittedly doesn't do a lot of phasmophobia streams but shhh. Dusknoir actually takes souls to the afterlife. It's entire thing is that the spirit world goes "hey bring this guy" and then it does so. Again, going on the vibes of Jimmy always dying first in every life series so far. But it's also picked since i feel like randomly taking souls to the afterlife and leaving the body is something a phasmophobia ghost would do. I personally like to imaginr Dusknoir isn't even his pokemon, it just always hangs out around him. Waiting.

5. Banette (ghost)

Banette's are actually thrown away pluahes and toys. Toys that were so angry and being thrown away that they came to life. I don't think it's surprising i used the cursed doll to represent empires s2 after the entire "jimmy is a toy" arc. Banette is literally made for him

6. Shing Corvisquire (flying)

Admittedly Corvisquire is partially here because it felt wrong to not put a galarian pokemon on the team if someone british. It just feels liks there shouls be something, ya know. But i picked shiny Corvisquire for the popular headcanon where Jimmy has yellow/golden colored wings. Althought its shiny is much more toned down. It's a nice tie in to Galar and the popular wing headcanon

MCYT Song Analysis: They Don't Know You Like I Do - Imagine Dragons

Are you ready for some emotional damage? I love myself some Imagine Dragons and boy does this song hit different if you keep the Life Series in mind while listening to it. Maybe first just listen to it without reading my little rant first, just to appreciate it (can you tell I'm a big Imagine Dragons fan? Yeah, probably)

(ps. please keep in mind this is all about the characters as opposed to the cc's of course :])

An essay on how this wonder of a song is so insanely desert duo / rancher duo / a tiny bit of flower husbands coded. We’ll go chorus by chorus and some lines are better than others, but just wait for the refrain to kick in.

He was never gonna make it Every pill he found, he'd take it Always on the edge of breakdowns But keeping it together somehow Just another cold November You called me, but I didn't answer I was so oblivious, now I'm asking for forgiveness

While this is the weaker chorus of them all, the first line is incredibly strong: ‘He was never gonna make it’. It can refer to both Jimmy and Scar, as everybody is always talking about them being prone to dying and you have the Canary Curse, of course. The lines after that are a bit more of a general vibe, but I like to relate ‘Always on the edge of breakdowns’ to the perpetual state of slight panic Jimmy is always in during the life series. We end on a banger, as ‘I was so oblivious, now I’m asking for forgiveness’ is just incredibly desert duo coded. Grian killing Scar with the creeper in 3rd life was him being oblivious and him pledging his life to Scar was Grian asking for forgiveness.

So, not the strongest of starts for this chorus, but the second one starts with one of the best lines.

For every single time I failed you I'm feeling like it's me that killed you Remembering the time they jumped you And I was too scared to help you Looking back, I can't erase it, I guess it's time to face it You never seem to know how to let it all go

‘For every single time I failed you, I’m feeling like it’s me that killed you’ does that need any explanation?! Grian and Scar are almost always connected in some way (yes, more in 3rd Life and DL of course) and I just can’t put in to words how this lyrics makes me feel. Grian DID fail Scar in DL and it got them both killed (Grian getting killed by the Warden). No, Grian, you’re not only feeling like you killed him you DID kill him. Often even, most times with intent.  

The next line can be related to desert duo, but to me it’s more rancher coded ‘Remembering the time they jumped you and I was to scared to help you’. I can’t think of anything else but Pearl, Scott, Cleo and Martyn ‘kidnapping’ Jimmy. Jimmy called out to Tango for help BUT HE DIDN’T. I mean, sure, Tango wasn’t exactly scared but I can dream alright? I don’t think something similar happened to desert duo, but I can be mistaken. It’s been a bit since I watch 3rd life lmao.

‘Looking back, I can’t erase it, I gues it’s time to face it, You never seem to know how to let if all go’ is admittedly the weakest line of the chorus, but is still very DL desert duo coded. In my mind it’s about Scar who can’t let go what happened in 3rd life, he can’t stand seeing Grian with BigB.

This, to me, is rachers / flower husbands. Maybe it’s just Jimmy coded, I’m just a big Jimmy stan alright? If you don’t get it, just read it again and then maybe just one more time for good measure. Everybody is always taking the mick out of Jimmy, in every series he is in but especially in the Life Series because he keeps on dying first. I’d like to imagine it does get in Jimmy’s mind. Despite it, Scott and Tango stuck with him. The Southeners didn’t really stick with him (which was his own fault, true) and the Bad Boys also didn’t feel the same. Now, it doesn’t apply as strongly to flower husbands as 3rd life was the first season and the Canary Curse wasn’t as much of a big deal. Tango stuck with Jimmy, however, when he didn’t have to. You had Scott who opted to team with Cleo instead of Pearl. Grian was continuously trying to get with BigB and while I love boat boys, Etho was actively trying to team with Bdubs. To me, the only truly strong pair were the ranchers. Nobody tried getting in between them and they didn’t try to break up.

This chorus is how I imagine Jimmy’s character. It might not be entirely cannon in all seasons, but think about it for a second. ‘Everybody saw you smiling, you were always good at hiding’, Jimmy tends to be the happy, go lucky type of person. Even when he is mad he can’t help but crack up at jokes others make. He hides how stressed he is about the possibility of dying yet again. ‘You’re always showing up for everybody but yourself’ is also a nice link to Limited Life, where he continuously throws himself into danger to try and protect Grian.

You might think ‘Floef, this is turning into a Jimmy song, you said it was also a desert duo song??’. Yeah, here comes the refrain, the best part of this flipping song.

See, I wish I could take it back, change the future and erase the past Grab the bullet out and pull you back I promise that I'd save your life like you saved mine But now it's far too late for that, and all I have is your story left to tell So let me tell it, let me tell

Read it. Read it again. Now read it with the desert duo story line in mind. Read it as if Grian is screaming this at the top of his lungs after he killed Scar. Now listen to the song (if you haven’t already) and appreciate the amazing music that goes with it.

‘Change the future and erase the past’ aka erasing the past in not killing him with the creeper, which might change the future so Grian isn’t forced to kill him again in the end.

‘Grab the bullet out and pull you back’ where the bullet is Grians fist and pulling it back meaning he never killed Scar. Or the bullet can be the creeper, whatever you prefer.

‘I promise that I’d save your life like you saved mine’ Grian didn’t really safe Scar at any occasion, other than continuously telling him to put his armor on. Scar tried, by offering his life to Grian right after he killed Bdubs. He didn’t want a fight or anything, he was ready for Grian to take his life so Grian could survive.

‘But now it’s far too late for that, and all I have is your story left to tell’ The past can’t be changed, so all Grian can do is talk about the things that happened (which is true for all seasons and winners, but still). It’s to late to make another decision, to late to change anything.

After this the song is mostly just without lyrics but I need someone to agree with me on this because MAN do I love this song.

Now, this entire refrain can also be linked to Jimmy, because Jimmy wants to change the future by not dying first yet again and erase his past deaths. The bullet can be his numerous final deaths, the arrow from 3rd life, Grian in LL, the Enderman in DL and the fall damage in Limited Life. I promise that I’d save your life like you saved mine is a nice Bad Boys reference, as Joel has said he was willing to give his life for Jimmy’s. But, you know, now it’s far too late for that so they can only talk about it.

Hello this is me bothering you, I'm really interested to hear your hybrid character thoughts! It's an interesting topic and I'm curious to see which angle you'll come at it from

Okay; lets talk about hybrids.

Part 1: what is a hybrid in general conversation(outside of my headcanons)? Hybrids are a category of minecraft characters that are a mix between two different 'species'(a hybridization if you will). A lot of the time it is a mix between some real or fictional creature and a human, but it can sometimes be between two different creatures or mobs, or be from more than just two things(it is worth mentioning that hybrids of inanimate objects exist as well). In general people tend to refer to non-human characters of all sorts as hybrids unless they are some other sort of fantasy race, indeterminant from what canon calls them(no one would refer to empires season 1 Scott as an 'elf hybrid', but people call techno a pig or piglin hybrid even though no one ever uses hybrid to refer to his characters in canon).

another thing worth mentioning the concept of hybrid racism that comes from mcyt fanfic. basically the concept that hybrids are generally feared, hunted, oppressed, or some combination within whatever civilization they exist within.

Part 2: how does the world work(headcanon time part 1)? to determine what a hybrid is, you need to know what a person or a player is in your story and world, and to do that you need to know what the world is.

In my lore I tend to think of the world all mcyt stories take place in as one made of code. Most people and things are represented as objects, and player is a class of object that exists within the world(part of this is because I took a java coding class last year and since i understand coding kind of the world works on that system). The world is not limited just to what minecraft can do though. the mechanics of minecraft do effect the world, but some things can be created outside the mechanics, and the world is also shaped by belief(what people think will happen happens because that's what they thought would happen), but I can give more details on that some other time.

Part 3: what is a player(headcanon time part 2)? players are a class of objects, more lore about them and npcs are decribed here: link.

Players, as instances of a class, can be thought of having a lot of different data pieces specific to themselves. These datums roughly determine how they are different from other player 'objects'. These datums all do have default states, and things that have data close enough to be mostly indiscernible in abilities from those default states are what are referred to as human, and things that are clearly different are hybrids.

another way to think of this, for those that do not know java programing is this: you could imagine creating a player in a character creation system where all attributes are determined on sliders. putting the sliders in the middle is what makes a human, and gradually dragging them away from center you get more and more interesting traits till whatever you have could clearly be described some other way.

humans then, are not a distinct group of players, but instead are the people who one could not be clearly describe any other way. much like trying to define what a 'fish' is irl, trying to fully describe and define different sorts of hybrids or players is an ultimately fruitless endeavor. 'enderman hybrids' are players that are reminicent of endermen, 'avian hybrids' are player that have feathers, and 'nether hybrids or netherborn' are players who are remincent of the end in some way.

Part 4: Trends. the minecraft world is one that tends to make things more unique over time. human seeming players become less human, whether it be through getting robotic limbs, enchantments and curses, scientific experiments gone wrong, or just the natural path of change.

at the same time, newer players have a tendency to be humans, and so there are still a lot of humans. humans often band together, often to try and survive and learn while they are new to the world.

generally in my world, hybrid 'racisim' tends not to exist. humans(espicaly new, all human comunites)are sometimes wary of strangers and people who seem odd, but there aren't very many places where any sort of social imbalance or systematic racism exists, and most of those places are cities of mostly npcs, who tend not to have seen so much of the world or have as much ablity to change.

Empires Season 2 Katherine and Shelby have a couple key traits in common:

Both of them reside in lands that would quite like to be hostile to life.

Both of them may be tossing around a level of power that could, theoretically, maybe, be a danger to everyone around them.

This has made both of them be regarded less than positively by peers from their backstories.

Most importantly, both of them share a means of dealing with their problems: simply do not look at them.  A very specific brand of denial.  This can’t hurt you if you just keep pretending that everything. is. fine.
