Muscle Shoals Horns: “Who’s Gonna’ Love You” from Born To Get Down (1976)
In-between Group Home’s biggest hit “Supa’ Star” and “Serious Rap Shit” (off of 1994′s Livin’ Proof) is a swinging transition of sorts provided by “Who’s Gonna’ Love You” while Melachi The Nutcracker and Lil’ Dap shout their people out with words of encouragement.

At night I used to scream and shout Livin' in the ghetto trying to get the hell out So I would try as I watch my friends die But all I could do was sit back and cry These are feelings I'm expressing through my rhymes I been through hard times so many problems on my mind I wasn't living rich and I also wasn't poor I try to appreciate but I deserve more

Group Home “Supa Star” (1994)
You have no idea how bad I miss living through hip-hop’s golden-era. The final years of it, 1994 and 1995, I think were the best. It feels like yesterday that many one-hit or one-album wonders (and not a bad thing when I say this) got their airtime for only a few weeks and to this day we consider them the best. Look what you have now and wonder why we wish to give hip-hop back some consciousness. “Supa Star” preached reality and progression but not violence, and became a welcome hit by not bringing guns, drugs, killings, or degrading women to the table.
Let’s show you how good DJ Premier’s producing is. Isaac Hayes’ “One Woman” (1969) built the single’s intro-, but Cameo’s “Downtown” (1984) made the rest was sped up to keep up with James Brown’s “Funky President (People It’s Bad)” (1974). Primo is also the reason why Group Home’s connected to Gang Starr, sampling “Words From The Nutcracker” featuring Melachi and “I’m The Man” featuring L’il Dap as well.

THROWBACK THURSDAY
“Supa Star” ~ Group Home #TBT… From their 1995 album, “Livin’ Proof.” Rappers James Heath and Jamal Felder aka Lil’ Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker, came to fame initially as members of the Gang Starr Foundation. One album in and then BOOM!!!… DJ Premier produced this track. In 95’ this was the joint. When the instrumental hit the speakers, heads started nodding. Twenty plus years later… It’s definitely one of those beats that rocks just as much today as it did then… 📻💿🎤

La pista "Now You're Mine" apareció originalmente en la banda sonora de 1992 White Men Can't Rap. . . . #HardToEarn #4thAlbum #GangStarr #DJPremier #Guru #ChrysalisRecords #EMIRecords #MassAppeal #GroupHome #JeruTheDamaja #90sHipHop #ConciousHipHop #HipHopMusic #OldSchoolHipHop #GoldenAgeHipHop #28Years #Rap #HipHop #HipHopCulture #RapChronology #RapMusic #HipHopHistory #HipHopNeverDies #HipHopMemories #RapLife #RapHistory #ClassicRap #HipHopRapLife #AlmaHipHop #TheHipHopSoul https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca23XZDv_dB/?utm_medium=tumblr
