Splatoon 3: Side Order is good, but not great. I still highly recommend it, but if you care about the story, you're going to be disappointed. Quick review: spoilers ahead.
Side Order was the devs experimenting with Splatoon's gameplay loop. The campaign is a rogue-like, and it works amazingly well. Super fun, super challenging, building my deck and fighting through challenges with the stakes of resetting really scratched an itch in my brain. They did a great job with it.
Unfortunately, I feel like priority went to game design rather than story. Much of the mysterious artwork we saw in the first teaser trailer was completely unused; turns out, all of that was just concept art that never made it into the final product. Side Order failed to make me care about what was happening. I don't know why the protagonist had to be Agent 8; it could've been anyone else and the story would've worked the same.
Octo Expansion was the absolute peak of meshing story and gameplay. The campaign's hook is insanely strong; we immediately empathize with Agent 8 because we know from previous lore that octolings like her have been trapped underground for all their lives. We care about her fight to the surface because it's a fundamentally ideological fight for freedom. The plot stuff about Tartar and the Thangs is just nice set dressing; 8's fight for freedom is the real story.
There's none of that in Side Order. I don't particularly care about Marina's metaverse, even if it's tied to Octo Expansion's story. I don't know why Acht is there other than backstory stuff. It really feels like 8 is just told to do something and she does it because she's the protagonist; she has zero personal stakes or motivations in the conflict. This is a story blunder the devs did in Splatoon 3's default campaign––forgetting to give the protagonist a personal reason to fight––that I hoped would be fixed here, but alas.
What makes it worse is that the gameplay and story progression are completely out of sync. I beat the entire game on my third run in 4 hours. With each run, you get up to two keys to potentially unlock bits of story. That means you'll get about one piece of the story every two runs. There are twelve pieces of the story; I got the first and then beat the whole damn game. Now I have to go back and grind to see the remaining story when I've already beaten the final boss and resolved the conflict. I missed the entire story because I never had to reset because I blazed through the gameplay! It's just a real shame that I experienced everything without knowing... why it's happening. The final boss had me asking myself what the hell is going on because I don't know the backstory at all.
Again, I still really recommend. The devs did a great job, but Side Order remains in the shadow of Octo Expansion's incredible success. Like the default singleplayer campaign, there's just a lot of lost story potential here that, while not necessary, would have really elevated this DLC into something amazing.
#long#personal#rant#splatoon#side order#it's a shame too because I got SO FUCKING HYPED at the title drop#when I realized that the entire first 30 minutes of the game was JUST THE OPENING TUTORIAL and they hit you with the music#and the “nintendo presents” and the title drop to a slow mo explosion. I thought “holy shit this is gonna be huge”#alas it wasn't because it turns out i'm better at roguelikes than the devs anticipated so i beat it in 3 hours lol#octo expansion was a cultural reset. it did something to my brain. the entire rising action part of the story; the reveals the twists the#boss fights the upward climb. it was so incredibly hype and just upped the stakes over and over. nothing's come close

some of my favorite and least favorite details from royal:
when you go with sumire to the shrine and bump into the rest of the thieves, they basically say they all agreed to go together. this is backed up by futaba saying she's going in the morning. this means they specifically went out of their way to not invite you. either theyre shady as fuck towards joker or they knew you were gonna be on a date and didn't want to bother you, but I think its funnier to go with the first one
most of the people in Tokyo's dreams coming true bc of the actualization are met with some doubt or confusion from family members, as seen in passing conversations and the loading screens. this is to show the cracks in the plan and how the actualization hasn't been . well. fully actualized yet. however, the phantom thieves told maruki what they want directly and therefore have their realities so tailor made to them that you have to go out of your way to break them out of it. this includes Morgana. but the only ppl who can hear Morgana are people with personas. this means that some time between Christmas and new years, maruki heard Morgana saying he wanted to be a human and decided to go "fuck it, sure, the cat that the weird kid owns but that ive never met can have his wish too". this tracks because maruki has a persona and is not shocked or confused when he sees Morgana in the metaverse.
Yusuke did not wish for his dead mom to be alive again. just for her painting to hit the trending tab 😭
even if you are dating sumire, like I was, she will not say goodbye to you or give you a parting gift. this creates the awkward situation of her saying goodbye to you at the station with an unusual coldness and disassociation from you, even if you and her are boyfriend and girlfriend. I actually hate this. why the fuck isn't my girlfriend saying goodbye to me.
the winter outfits are the best designed outfits in the game. ann and makoto are in ugly 2010's H&M shit for 90% of the game and then get a fresh wardrobe for the new years.
in contrast, maruki's villain outfit is so fucking ugly. he looks like a golden toenail. the final villain in your game and you have him looking like that? come on man.
not royal exclusive, but Morgana has a talking sprite of himself in his cat form. for some reason, they refused to use this until the end of the game when he "loses" his metaverse form. this makes absolutely no sense, as the talking sprites of every other character changes on their clothes/appearence. why doesn't Morgana's change to his cat version in the real world and why doesn't he just have his "true" form in the metaverse. for some reason, this frustrates me to no end.
when you date sumire, she will not shut the fuck up about her dead sister. also, 90% of your relationship with her is based around her false identity she assumed of her dead sister. you are basically dating this girl's dead sister.
^^^ this is not helped by the fact that her "sumire" sprite looks ugly as fuck and she only looks cute when she's cosplaying as her dead sister. the devs even knew this and changed her back to her Kasumi sprite as soon as they justifiably could 😭
speaking of, royal REALLY REALLY makes it obvious that they see joker x sumire as the canon romance. in the base game I think they saw it as makoto or Haru, but in royal its uncanny how much they push you into dating her. however, she's objectively the worst girl to date because you can only date her at the very end of the game, and therefore only get to experience valentines and white day with her, whereas with most of the other girls you get Hawaii, Christmas, the school fair, etc.
^^^ however, this makes sense, as the realization that you were never dating sumire and instead were instead dating her dead sister would probably come as an uncomfortable surprise to the player. atlus had no choice but to wait until the truth came out to let you date her. they wrote themselves into a corner and then were unable to show off the character who has the biggest model on the poster 😭
when you go around and get goodbye gifts, you cannot say goodbye to certain phantom thieves members if you haven't maxed them out. this resulted in a weird situation where I hadn't maxed out makoto, Haru, and ann, and therefore joker, despite that in universe having helped them through trauma and loss and difficult times, did not say goodbye to some of of his closest friends and teammates . I understand not getting a goodbye gift from them, but its SUPREMELY weird that you dont get a one-on-one goodbye if you dont max their confidants 😭
not royal exclusive, but shinya Oda's voice acting (English) is so fucking terrible its actually laughable. in a game with outstanding voice acting, the fact that this 12 year old sounds like a 50 year old woman really sticks out. this is unfortunate, because Oda is one of my fav confidants and makes him hard to take seriously, but also fortunate because its fucking hilarious.
Akechi's evil Loki costume is ugly as fuck, but is saved singlehandedly because he's wearing thigh-high boots. if you dont believe me, look closely at his thighs. you'll see it.
maruki looks like wilbur soot and it really unsettles me.

Brains been thinking of confidants
——
So we’ve got the thieves but now I’m thinking of how to designate the other arcana for the rest of the cast
——-
Isshiki Wakaba - Devil - The mischievous owner of the Internet cafe 8Bit, she tells Goro a lot about her youth and how she used to be quite the misfit (she was in a rock band, played drums) also tells him really bad jokes
Wakaba will sometimes talk about her former job and how it effected her, especially when she found out she was pregnant with futaba
Her confidant allows Goro to take more risks in battle each rank he gets more guts to pull of more then one attack
Sakura Sojiro - Hanged Man - Sojiro owns a small bar in Yongen-Jaya which is home to some shady characters (it’s a back alley bar what would you expect)
His Confidant is him talking a lot about his journey and the crowds he got into when he was younger, he’s a lot more blunt and rough around the edges now those experiences shaped him into a bit of a hard boiled guy
But he talks about how Wakaba inspired him to change and open up his own spot also talks about how he fell in love with her
Sells Goro weapons (usually on a Tuesday/Thursday) in the back of the bar
I’m not entirely sure what his confidant would give Goro maybe some sort of defence buff?
Kawakami Sadayo - Fortune - Goro’s teacher, has a bit of a fortune telling gig on the side of her teaching (yeah cause I’m not doing the maid shit here)
More upbeat then her cannon counterpart Sadayo works hard to keep her students engaged and feeling good in her lessons which does bring her spirits up
however she’s still the tired teacher deep down inside since her part time job does fuck her over a bit with all the crappy costumers she gets
If Goro goes to get a telling from her depending on what she says it either effects buffs positively or negatively in the metaverse
Takemi Tae - Tower - Still a doctor just not a back alley one, has a small clinic that goro and takuto frequent (takuto to talk about therapy and goro for any phantom thief stuff)
Raging lesbian
I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with her confidant tbh
——-
That’s all I’ve got so far! Probably need to figure out what I want to do with Iwai, Chihaya, Ohya and Toranosuke now

Been doing some thinking about the characterization implications of Makoto's aikido black belt, and the interesting contrast between aikido and her Metaverse weapon.
Like, to start with, the fact that Makoto knows aikido specifically says a lot. Aikido is extremely not an aggressive martial art. It's a little difficult to translate something like a martial art name from Japanese into English, but the one I always heard was "way of the harmonious spirit". I'm not going to do a deep dive on it, just summarize a couple of the most relevant points, but it was created by a war veteran who was inspired by a spiritual experience. His guiding concept was like... self-defense without hurting the aggressor.
(Disclaimer: I obviously only studied in one school! Although all of aikido shares the same overall principles, there may be some schools out there that are extra-aggressive. However, given that we lack any indication of what style of aikido Makoto studies, I would guess that it's not anything wild or unusual.)
Aikido focuses on using an attacker's energy and momentum against them. You learn throwing and pinning techniques to defend against various attacks, but specifically techniques where you can pull back before you cause serious damage. You don't learn barehanded strikes at all, except as much as you need to know to initiate fake attacks to help your partners practice. And you don't need to know how to throw a really good, dangerous punch for that. I had years of aikido training and I still sure as fuck can't. At more advanced levels, you start to learn other things such as weapons forms, but even those aren't really attacks. You just perform a ritualized series of movements against imaginary enemies.
It's not the world's most practical martial art, to be honest, although someone who's really skilled can get good use out of it. If Makoto claims she can use it to ensure her safety, she must be that good, because I expect she's too practical to delude herself with false confidence. More importantly! It takes years to get a black belt, like it does in any martial art. So little middle-schooler Makoto looked at all the martial arts on offer in Tokyo, which I imagine is pretty much every martial art on earth, and decided aikido was the one for her.
It suits her, and continues to suit her up through the end of canon. She's not Ryuji; outside the Metaverse, she's not going to start a physical fight. But she's perfectly willing to finish one. Given her family history and personal values, it makes sense that she'd be drawn to the idea of defending herself, but not in a way that causes unnecessary pain. It's also considered a good martial art for women, due to the lack of emphasis on size and strength.
But pre-canon Makoto is also very repressed, very focused on being composed and perfect. Aikido promises self-defense and an outlet, but nothing too aggressive. Nothing that looks too loud or rebellious. Martial arts are male-dominated practices; by studying one at all, she's already being a little bit out of the ordinary. Best not to stand out too much.
And then she gets into the Metaverse.
It's easy to think that the brass knuckles and the punching make use of her martial arts background, but they don't. At all. Makoto has absolutely not learned how to strike with her fists to cause damage during her training, at least not like people envision. If Atlus wanted to go that route, they'd have given her a karate backstory or something similar.
And if they wanted her to know aikido and wanted to carry her training into the Metaverse, they could've given her a staff, which she will have learned forms for during aikido training. The other classic aikido weapons are already taken, or at least the non-wooden versions are lol. But no one else among the Thieves uses a staff. Makoto the warrior monk with her jo staff and her Pope persona would be a coherent design.
But Atlus didn't do that either. Instead, they gave her brass knuckles (among other fist weapons, I know, I know) and let her punch the shit out of her enemies. That's not merely unlike her training; it's in total opposition to the core tenets of aikido. No "way of the harmonious spirit", no self-reflection, no pacifism. She's going to beat up Shadows for justice.
In short, the brass knuckles are an emblem of her rebellion within the Metaverse. They come from the same place as her spiky leather outfit and motorcycle Persona. In the real world, student council president Makoto isn't afraid of anyone hitting her or grabbing her because she can put them on the ground before they can blink. Like I said, I think aikido suits her really well, even without her pre-canon baggage. But in the Metaverse, Queen doesn't bother to wait for an attack. She hits first. <3
#makoto punches shadows in the face to rebel against society. as she should#thanks for coming to my ted talk#persona 5#p5#makoto niijima#niijima makoto#what an absolute fucking relief to make a post about one character who has one name#tagging shuake posts is really . something#my post

*DROPS S/I ON THE GROUND*
*RUNS AWAY IN SHAME*
S/I Yap time!!
OK SO-- I made this little S/I art yesterday and felt like sharing!! My Persona 5 S/I is basically-- well, me (bubbly and annoying) and nothing else lolol I literally insert myself in the universe with some plot changes and it's fun!! She likes space and music! Cuz i do too! :D She's also an indie musical artist but it's like more of a hobbie than anything! (Even if it does helps with money and all! she also does haves some good amount of followers on the niche! But nothing big out of the indie bubble) She wants to work as a songwriter for a famous singer one day!
Her background is nothing crazy but I made some silly changes, like aging up my irl brother (he's currently a lil baby and I made him a lil kid :3) and making me live with my grandma! (fucking love my grandma kisses grandma!!) Also some dramatic aah stuff like dead mom and no dad for me (the basics) 😭😭 My S/I has a strong special interest in space!!! Which is something I'm getting really into lately! So I made mommy an astronomer! She was like best friends with Wakaba (scientific nerds lol) and Sojiro so S/I was very close to Futaba since childhood for that reason!
She is a phantom thieve (shockerz) and uhm I wanted to use my personal experience as a bullied child growing up (mostly because of ableism) and turn that into motivation to make justice, since no one did that for me before!! (Grr goddamn adults!) And finding my own group of weird little people made me much more open and generally happy in real life! So that's what I'm doing on this universe as well! ^^
Yes she entered in kamoshida's case cuz I wanna imagine myself in every little story event.
Yes I study at Shujin.
Yes I am basic. /j
Even tho when it's for self shipping purposes I usually make my stuff in the 3rd semester because... life is beautiful and husby has no filter so it's funnier ✨️ AND YES I AM HELPING THE ROYAL TRIO WITH MARUKI FUCK IT NOW WE ARE FOUR!! (Depression afterwards :<)
Her Persona is called Selene! Based off the greek goddess of the moon!! She has nuclear/almighty based skills simply because it's chaotic and looks cool!! FUCKING MEGIDOLAON ON THEM!!! POOOWWW BOOM KABOOM!! 💥👊ALSO FUN FACT SHE'S VERY CHAOTIC!! (just like me fr maybe because it is me duh) often being too dramatic, explosive and loud!!! totally ruining stealth when it comes to infiltrating palaces, which usually makes some funny aah scenes because she was dumb-- maybe she's not a good phantom thief...
maybe.
Talking about metaverse stuff! Her clothes are based off Magicians! Because of her lil show off nature, making everything a explosive dramatic spectacle! And uhm magicians are cool!! -v-"
This concept was made with the help of my bestie! Helping me take a more Kaito kid/Tuxedo Mask inspired design, which i really like allot! big thanks to him!! <3
Relationship dynamics:
On this section I wanted to give a small little insights on her relationships with most characters! Since I felt like it would be fun to do so! :3
☆~☆~☆
Akira Kurusu/Ren Amamiya
- Her relationship with Akira is pretty much like a siblings relationship, Luna looks up to him allot and is the "I wanna be like you when I grow up" type lol even if they are the same age. He is her inspiration to get better, so she will get at his level one day! He also makes extra suggary cappuccino to her when she goes to Leblanc 🤝 ☕️
Ryuji Sakamoto
- Her relationship with him is pretty much the chaotic duo type, shes always giving him death stares when he starts to talk about girls or some dumb Ryuji shit like that 😭 Her and Morgana are constantly slandering him for the funzys, but Ryuji also likes to pick up on her so they're eternally on a war-- and in general they are two loud dumbasses who share the same braincells and have little silly banters 🤲 also HC that Luna helps him dye his hair 🫡
Ann Takamaki
- Her relationship with Ann is the girly besties type, constantly going out shopping, Ann usually helps her to buy her clothes since Luna definitely can't pick her clothes on her own without it looking weird 😭 they also go out allot to eat! Try the newest deserts all around Tokyo! Those two would probably kill for a chocolate cake. And they are getting progressively more poor because of that... She likes to paint Ann's nails and style her hair for fun! because she personally thinks Ann looks like a pretty porcelain doll!
Yusuke Kitagawa
- Her relationship with Yusuke is another of pure admiration!! Yusuke admire Luna for her artistic side on the music and Luna's eyes sparkle at every little sketch he does, I like to think that Luna (just like me) is an artist for fun who really has allot of trouble with drawing certain things that aren't fanart lol, and they go out on little panting sessions togheter. Like I dunno go to Inokashira Park to draw the scenario and his comes out like the next monalisa and hers is like... Blue and Green all mixed up togheter. And she probably got her clothes dirty in the process. He does encourages her to continue tho! And gives her tips that she usually doesn't get-- so uhm sensei Yusuke Ig?
Makoto Nijima
- Her relationship with Makoto is... *sighs* very sibling-like too. Luna isn't the best at school, and always cry for help when it's exams week 💔 Makoto usually scolds her for being too careless at everything, school, metaverse, crossing the road-- but only because she really cares about her. Luna is like the little sister she needs to lookout for so she doesn't get herself killed by accident. Oh fun fact but Luna is also very afraid of Sae (just like me im afraid of pretty woman) so yeah she freezes when she steps in the room 😭
Futaba Sakura
- Oh boooyyy Futaba time!! My relationship with Futaba is so silly and fun and I wanna yap about it!! Ok third person mode on--
So, since they were basically raised togheter, they are pretty close to one another, and have gathered the same types of interests through the years. Since I have the Autistic Futaba HC, I like to imagine that they get each other more than anything, engaging in parallel play most of the time when she was a shut-in. And I like to imagine that Luna was pretty much the only person she talked to at first after her Palace. Also HC that they play Pokemon United togheter. Cuz I said so. They exchange allot of gifts related to their special interests too! Ugh I have so many HC's for us but basically we are best friends forever two little chaotic autistic sillys but i help Futaba with her social anxiety! yipeee :3
Haru Okumura
- Her relationship with Haru is the tea time besties, they talk all day over a good cup of tea and Haru frequently gives her tips of how not make her plants die (very important, I never can make them live...) which is a hobby Luna really is trying to... make possible... (plz don't die this time) and generally her time yapping with Haru is a very comforting one, usually when shes feeling dramatic she goes and hugs Haru and makes her little drama, and Haru is usually the only one who's like "Oh dear :(" and stands her when she's being extra or cheers her up when shes actually sad too! 😭 shes such a sweetheart! <3 don't be mean with Mona and Luna! Haru is gonna politely ask you to stop. (Looking at you ryuji)
Morgana
- Her relationship with our favorite not cat! He's... Morgana. We know him. But Luna can be considered pretty much his #1 fan???? She thinks he's HELLA COOL like the best phantom thieve ever!! (I love morgana!!!) She really respects him and Morgana is really grateful to have someone that looks up to him (Luna looks up to lots of people! ><") Luna also likes to pat him. Allot. (IM A CAT PERSON OK) which well he doesn't mind but still he's not a kitty that you can just pat like that!!! (He's purring)
Sumire Yoshizawa
- Her relationship with Sumire is... damn, Luna is LOUD. And well we know that Sumi isn't exactly as extroverted as she makes herself seem when she takes on the Kasumi role. So uhm let's say Luna is overwhelming-- very overwhelming! 😭 She's always jumpy and bubbly and is constantly trying to cheer Sumire up, turning into some type of cheerleader for her when she starts to self-depreciate in any way, being overly affectionate and in general being extra EXTRA around her since she gets very worried about Sumire's mental health-- So yeah, Luna is basically constantly cheering her on and admiring her for being able to make things she can't (Even if Sumire doesn't think they're that great :< )... ooh we have another extreme admiration case here!!! Maybe the person she admires the most! Hell yeah! Give my girly some love!~ My bestie <3
Haha that's the end nothing more to see here... hah... haha.... bye...
Ok...
*sighs*
Goro Akechi
- That's probably the most important relationship of all-- why did I put him in last? I'm embarrassed. Uh... shy? 😭 gonna be more personal about this one uhm-- well
That's my boyfriend over there, I hate him I don't really enjoy his company and I hope he gets therapy. /hj
No, really tho, our relationship is... I can't even describe it, but our dynamic is DEFINITELY the "aww they do care about each other" type-- I constantly enjoy to annoy the hell out of him, just because it's funny?? I'm the devil from the bible. Er... so... the thing is, Akechi constantly get dismissed through story for obvious reasons, he's openly agaisn't the Phantom Thieves and later they do have much MUCH more motives to not fuck with him-- but Luna? DAMN. That girl is I N V E S T E D In being friends with him. Specially on the start, his sob stories actually made her pity him and get all "aw he's miserable... 🥺" lol so she constantly insisted on being his friend, even tho he was internally screaming and trying to push her away, she was CONVICTED. SHES A FRIENDSHIP MACHINE BABY. YOU CAN'T ESCAPE HER!!
So with that forced proximity, they eventually started getting closer, and it was something very... slow? Definitely. Luna never cared about hiding herself no matter how weird people seemed to find her, maybe he would admire that... envy that? Who knows.
Suddenly he started to enjoy her company. Even if she was... oh well a little dumb, yeah, he definitely thinks she is-- He never had people who were close to him, and definitely didn't had someone THAT determined to bother him 24/7. Maaaybe he could call her something close to a friend... right? (Yes they were she stated that every 3 seconds and Luna rules 🫡) And that was before he "entered" to the Phantom Thieves, and when he did? Damn she was kinda happy! Don't talk about the blackmail part showing off to him and telling him all the cool things she could do as she ""teached"" him about the metaverse (lol like this bitch needed to) and they got even closer!! Damn! Let's go play darts togheter and silly around! Yay! :D
I also like to HC that he would eventually let some good amount of things about his real self slip, and Luna would be like totally clueless and okay about it, when most people would think it was weird or out of character. Maybe that's why he got so weirdly comfortable around her? She didn't gave a fuck-- and oh well he wasn't THAT detective princefied around her by that time. Yeah she's probably the closest he got to it... (sweeps Akira under the rug)
And uh... let's skip allot of things so I won't yap about the whole Akechi arc here. Maybe another day.
But Luna was utterly miserable after everything (yall know what), she wasn't angry... just... shocked. Maybe a bit quieter? Less energetic? She was since the revelation, but it was worse now... and the penny dropped at the worst time-- And uh yeah sad above everything I think that's pretty much expected when you lose someone you really like. Despite everything, he was a friend... someone she cared about... maybe more than she should...
Wait.
Cared about, huh? OH FUCK SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH HIM!!! (Shockerz) GASP WOW WOAH! *VINE BOOM* Who would've guessed. So uhm yeah that sucks, now it's too late...
A little more timeskip--
Oh well damn hi Goro!! What the fuck??? :D
That's where most of the romantic relationship aspects take part, damn he was there now???? It was literally her chance!! To what? Nothing really-- just spend more time to him and get more clingy (like she wasn't enough before) and even MORE bubbly than before!! She was genuinely happy! And now with the useless knowledge that she was utterly and absolutely in love with him. Oh well. And... damn she fell even more for him now! LIKE 20× MORE!! STOP HER PLEASE!!
And uh well she's not very good at hiding it so yeah her secret didn't last long, maybe i'll write how the confession went someday! :)
So basically... at first he was like "What the fuck?? Why????" But uhm maybe er... maybe he uhm... you know-- maaaybeeeee--- okay im flustered BUT MAYBE he would realize in the moment that he was in... love too? Uhm... get a little... yk... awkward there... ,÷*×&×(× er-- I don't know!! I MEAN FUCK OF COURSE HE DID I LITERALLY SELF SHIPP WITH HIM UGH IM DUMB--
OKAY WE ARE DATING NOW. That's the point. 😭😭
It's awkward, not ideal for what people expect of a couple, we definitely still have our little silly banters, he does want to kill me! and i do like to annoy him!! BUT I LIKE IT THAT WAY!! We aren't a veeeery affectionate openly lovey dovey couple but we are deeply in love! And when we do have our little lovey dovey moments it's just us being two dumb messes who don't know a thing about what we are doing! Hand holding? Just the little fingers! Kisses? Barely cheek ones! (On my part obviously im kissing the hell outta his cheeks mwah mwah mwah) I mean, we are trying! I love him and he loves me!! Allot!!! Even if we get a little weird and flustered about it!
>//<
I like awkward dating. It's fun. I love my boyfriend. :>
Oh damn I realized I yapped allot, more than I should-- I was about to write my relationship with other minor characters in the game but uhm that's too much already! Sorry for making you read that much! ^^"
But thank you for reading anyways!! I really appreciate it <3 for reading to my ULTIMATE s/I yapping!! Or... well, a yapping about me! I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to ask questions about my s/i or my self ship if you have any! Oh damn even yap back at me about your S/I's! F/O's? I would love to hear it! ^^
Bye everyone!!!~ ☆

Shui Long Yin VR Metaverse: Technologies and Digital Assets, and the melon about it being released in Summer 2025

What is the metaverse?
The Shui Long Yin metaverse is a parallel world closely resembling the real world, built through the use of digital modelling and technologies such as VR and AR, and designed to exist permanently.
This virtual realm integrates cutting-edge advancements, including blockchain, augmented reality, 5G, big data, artificial intelligence, and 3D engines.
When you acquire a ticket to this world, you gain a digital asset, allowing you to become an immersive citizen within the Shui Long Yin Metaverse.
Every item within Shui Long Yin can be experienced through Augmented Reality using VR devices, providing a seamless blend of the physical and digital realms. These digital assets are permanent, and in some cases, overseas users may trade or transfer their tickets to enter the Shui Long Yin world.

What is VR and AR?
Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that enables users to interact within a computer-simulated environment.
Augmented Reality (AR), on the other hand, combines elements of VR by merging the real world with computer-generated simulations. A well-known example of AR is the popular game Pokémon Go, where virtual objects are integrated into real-world surroundings.

Tang LiCi's universe
The Shui Long Yin film crew has digitally modeled the core art assets, 50 000 square meters.

What technologies does China Mobile & Migu bring to the table?
China Mobile served as the lead organizer for the 2023 World VR Industry Conference. Its subsidiary, Migu, has also been dedicated to advancing projects in this area.
Shui Long Yin is their first priority this summer 2025.
5G+AI: VR world in Metaverse
AIGC AR 3D: Using AI technology in graphics computer, with the best trained AI system in China.
Video ringtones as a globally pioneering service introduced by China Mobile.

Shui Long Yin from Screen to Metaverse to Real Life: Epic Battles and Intricate Plotlines
The United States and China are world pioneers in the development of TV drama integration VR Metaverse. Notably, Shui Long Yin is the sixth TV drama map worldwide to be merged into the Metaverse.
How can we enjoy these technologies?
-- First we need 5G -- According to a report by the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), by June 2022:
》There are 70 countries around the world had active 5G networks, you can fully experience all the technology featured in Shui Long Yin.
Example: South Korea, China, and the United States have been at the forefront. Follow after are Japan, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Viet Nam...
》No worries—even in countries without 5G, you can still watch the drama and enjoy AIGC and 3D technology through the streaming platforms Migu Video and Mango.
•Mango available on IOS and Android, Harmony OS
•Migu (Mobile HD) soon availabe on IOS and Android, Harmony OS
-- Second, we need VR devices --
In country where VR is already commonplace, such as the United States, owning a VR device is considered entirely normal. Users can select devices that best suit their preferred forms of home entertainment.
European countries have also become fairly familiar with VR technology.
However, it is still relatively new to many parts of Asia. When choosing a VR device, it’s important to select one that is most compatible with your intended activities, whether that’s gaming, watching movies, or working.

It's no surprise to us that the drama Shui Long Yin will be released in the summer 2025, but it will also be coinciding with offline tourism to Long Yin Town in Chengdu, online VR Metaverse travel, and 3D experiences on the new streaming platforms Migu and Mango. Stay tuned!

Do we know if Manaka is paralized from the fall or if she just need her wheelchair till she heals?
Because I would like to see how they could implement a wheelchair in her metaverse design and not pull a 'magic cures the disability' card. Expecially since Futaba for example still needs her glasses when not wearing her mask.
Im picturing something similar to Chairot from Black Rock Shooter or Tougo Mimori from Yuki Yuna Is a Hero (kinda hard to see here, but the ribbons in her magical girl costume works like spider legs + she is a sniper, thus spends most of the time laying on her stomach and from a distance from the main battle)

Also, since her grandma uses her persona as a hoverboard, it would be a neat detail if she also could ride her persona
It was kept super vague why exactly she's in the wheelchair, so I'm honestly not sure. I saw her legs wiggle a bit once or twice, which could suggest she's not completely paralyzed, but it also could just mean the 3D model was being a bit weird, as sometimes other characters' legs will wiggle in a way they shouldn't, too, heh. I think the only obvious... physical symptoms of anything, for lack of a better term (?), that we see her experience are panic attacks, one which causes her to faint, and a kind of general weakness. It seemed like she was having a bit of trouble speaking the first time you meet her, as well, although that started to improve.
But as I've said before, I completely agree, I really hope she has some kind of mobility aid as a Phantom Idol! Honestly, to me, the ideal outcome would be that she literally still has a wheelchair as part of her outfit, but I'd certainly accept (and think it's more likely that the devs might go with) a rideable Persona instead, especially since Vino has one as well. I suppose that would lend itself well to being a Navigator, but I really hope she's an actual combat teammate, because I think it would be cool to see a character in a wheelchair who can still fight! But, really, anything would be better and more interesting than just having her magically regain the use of her legs, in my opinion.

Decided to compile my notes on this crossover (fusion?) between Persona 5 and Digital Devil Saga. For anyone familiar with DDS, the beginning of this will come off as a summation of the game’s main mechanical draws, but once we’re past that we get into original stuff.
Basic Premise:
Any human entering the Metaverse has a chance to be afflicted with the Atma Virus, chances increase if the person is under extreme physical or mental duress.
Humans afflicted with the virus gain an Atma Brand: a black mark that appears somewhere on their body. When this brand is activated (indicated by the brand glowing, lines spreading out from the brand, and the surrounding skin turning black) a human can transform into an Avatar.
The brand is visible to anyone, meaning the thieves (and others) need to hide it.
An Avatar is a human transformed into a demon. This transformation is powered by magnetite—a metaphysical substance that can only be found in Shadows, cognitive beings, and humans.
After their first transformation, Avatars will go into a frenzy and consume as much magnetite as possible to ‘fill an empty store’ to put it lightly. Their human thoughts and reasoning will be borderline zero as they focus solely on eating.
Avatars will always crave magnetite, as it is necessary for their survival and continued existence. This manifests as a ‘hunger,’ primarily via intrusive thoughts, cravings, and violent urges.
If an Avatar does not eat, they will eventually go ‘berserk,’ losing all human rationale and transforming into their demon form, rampaging until their hunger is satisfied or they’re put down by another force.
Avatars can transform in the real world—this isn’t limited to the Metaverse.
The Phantom Thieves:
Akira
First one afflicted by the Atma Virus, becomes the de-facto leader solely because he has slightly longer experience corralling his demon (and Arsene is arguable one of the tamer demons)
Because of the general nature of Digital Devil Saga, he isn't a "wildcard" with access to other Personas. This is an Arsene Only run.
Looks virtually identical to Arsene when transformed, the cloth elements of his design are swapped out for more organic elements (scales, cartilage, etc.)
Has the least powerful cravings, but has frequent intrusive thoughts. Is often disassociating to prevent himself from acting on them.
Atma Brand is the Phantom Thieves’ logo—top hat, mask, flaming eye, the works—and is located on his left pec, directly above his heart.
Ryuji
Second one afflicted by the Atma Virus.
Looks mostly skeletal, with black cord-like muscles weaving through and around his bones. Chest is hollow except for a sparking yellow ‘core’ of electric magic. Does not have his big boat :(
Has powerful cravings that he copes with by running/exercising. Purposefully does this in bad neighborhoods to avoid people he knows and take ‘big risks.’ Has gotten into fights with some people during his runs, he wins, and sometimes satisfies his cravings.
Atma Brand is his skull mask with two bones crossed behind it (similar to Jolly Rogers) over his thigh, right over the break Kamoshida caused.
Ann
Third afflicted with the Atma virus.
Avatar form is an anthropomorphic panther with pink fur. From the chest down it has tight, scale-like armor that is multi-layered, somewhat similar to how Carmen’s dress is layered. Has a pair of curled, flaming pigtails.
Struggles the most with intrusive thoughts, specifically related to guilt and disgust at herself for having to do this. Copes by throwing herself into modeling and binge eating sweets.
Sometimes regrets not devouring Kamoshida’s shadow, but whenever she thinks about that she has a depressive spiral and binge eats more.
Atma Brand is on the small of her back and is an all black, negative space rose.
Morgana
The one exception to the rule! He cannot turn into an avatar, but has access to healing spells.
Claims that he’s a human trapped in a ‘permanent’ avatar form, hence why he looks like a cat both in and out of the Metaverse.
Wants to explore the depths of Mementos as he senses something incredibly important at the bottom, but doesn’t have the strength to get further than the first floors.
Believes that it might be a cure for the Atma virus, but he isn’t certain.
Can calm down an avatar’s cannibalistic urges and hunger by making physical contact with and purring. He doesn’t know why this is the case.
Unlike the OG P5 where Morgana pushes for the establishment of the Thieves to use them to progress through Mementos, here the Thieves must continue so they won’t go berserk and can try to find a cure.
As such, Morgana joins to keep them on track and prevent them from going berserk and slaughtering others, as it would only lead to greater harm and prevent Morgana from achieving his own goals.
Yusuke
Fourth to obtain the Atma Virus.
Avatar form is a mix of Goemon’s usual flair (a large patterned ‘coat’, the posturing, etc.) but with some more kitsune aspects. Similar to Ann’s, Yusuke’s Avatar looks more like an anthropomorphic fox with red markings on his face (to match his mask) and three tails, with the longest one bound in red string.
Like Akira’s form, a lot of the ‘cloth’ elements are altered to be layered scales that are more rigid than the baggy, thin cloth Goemon has. His shoes would be altered into keratin-made claws, he wouldn’t have his pipe, etc.
Unfortunately there’s really no good way to describe this through text. If I could draw, I would :(
Has the most experience dealing with the hunger cravings as Madarme would use food restriction as another method to abuse Yusuke.
Copes the best with his new urges, as hunting shadows and eating them does alleviate some of his human-based hunger, though not by much. It’s also arguably the strongest form of independence Yusuke has had in years, as he is able to ‘get his own food.’
Atma brand is, fittingly, on his stomach. It’s a samurai sword crossed over Goemon’s pipe.
Makoto
Fifth to be afflicted with the Atma Virus.
Handles the change the worst out of everyone, has the most intrusive thoughts and disgust, completely refrains from eating anything in hopes of ‘outlasting’ her urges. Morgana needed to be with her almost 24/7 after she obtained the brand, and she’s the least enthusiastic whenever she needs to hunt.
Has regular panic attacks about her morality, which means she partially transforms a lot with the Atma Brand reacting to her stress.
Avatar form is most similar to Anat, in that she’s a mechanical-like human, but with more of Johanna’s design elements. Her head is also more like Alexandrite from Steven universe, in that there’s a normal ‘face’ that can lift up to expose a more monstrous maw.
Atma Brand is on her right shoulder. It’s a flaming wheel.
Nearly got caught by Sae, who saw the Atma Brand due to her high-shoulder shirt for her summer school uniform. Actively breaks dress code after that and is always seen wearing a long-sleaved shirt or jacket.
Futaba
Sixth to obtain the Atma Virus
Willingly afflicts herself with the Atma virus in her own palace (we will get to how in that fic, I refuse to spoil here)
Similar to P5, Futaba suffers from visual and audible hallucinations following the murder of her mother. Her pain reaches the point of her asking the Phantom Thieves to ‘consume’ her, as she knows what they’re fully capable of with her bugs in the café.
Still suffers from hallucinations after her palace is finished, but instead of being about her family berating her, they’re about her eating and getting revenge on her family.
Copes similarly to P5, where she attempts to ignore it and shuts down. Suffers the most in large crowds due to sensory overload and struggles to not bite people. Uses a lot of stim toys, especially ones designed for chewing.
Appearance is one of the more drastically altered from P5 (like how tf am I meant to change a UFO into something vaguely humanoid). Avatar form’s ‘skin’ is the same as her full-body suit from P5 (black with green accent lines). Has long tentacles with bludgeoning ‘bulbs’ at the end, similar to Necronomicon’s tentacles. Futaba’s hair also turns into cord-like tentacles with tiny mouths on the end. Her face lacks any mouths, and instead has wide, circular eyes that take up half her face. The eyes are primarily green, except for when scanning enemies for weakness (blue) or eating (red).
Brand is on her back, directly between her shoulder blades. It’s a series of three concentric circles with a four-pointed star in the center.
Haru
Seventh to be afflicted with the Atma Virus.
Has the most altered story compared to P5, as I refuse to have Morgana run off like a jackass (especially because he would have an incredibly vital role to the team to help them not go insane).
Instead her problems with her abusive fiancé and father are discovered by Makoto, who has been hanging out with Haru for a sense of normalcy ever since she ‘helped’ with Kaneshiro.
Makoto feels indebted to Haru for her emotional support and decides to help out with making him the Thieves’ new target—this aligns with the Phansite poll saying they should go after Okumura.
Haru gets accidentally dragged in when she follows Makoto one day to try and figure out why she was so busy after probing Haru with questions. This leads to her being cornered and attacked by shadows, nearly dying, and having the Atma Virus attach to her. The rest of what happens I’ll save for her fic >:)
Haru’s appearance is another one that’s drastically different from P5. Unlike the large skirt and bodice that Milady has, Haru has a slim, almost statue-like lower-half that appears to be made of stone. This breaks at her stomach, which has a large, fanged mouth (Milady’s skirt breaking open to the gun compartment). Haru’s upper-half continues the statue motif but breaks around her arms, which are more cartilage-like axes. The final break is right above her nose, where her eyes would be. Instead, the ‘head’ of her Avatar form is filled with pink and purple Hydrangeas that mimic her hair.
Haru’s Atma Brand is on her left shoulder. It’s a gatling gun with ‘explosion’ marks around the muzzle.
Akechi
Was afflicted with the Atma virus long before the events of Persona 5.
Has been hunting for years now, primarily does this by running through Mementos.
Usually dedicates a full day to hunting as his hunger is massive. He can easily out-eat what all the Phantom Thieves usually consume in the span of a day.
When he blackmails the Thieves into Sae’s palace, he accompanies them but never transforms. He instead assists the team by shooting shadows or providing healing items.
Avatar form is identical to Loki, literally no notes needed, he’s beautiful.
Atma brand is on the back of his left hand. It’s a chained circle.
I won’t be writing about Kasumi/Sumire or Maruki in this post, as I want their whole shtick to be a surprise when I post the fic about them (also I… haven’t finished p5r… rip me I’ve had a VERY busy year).

Welcome, Player...
⁺⋆✰ Steal Your Heart; An OT9 + Reader Insert AU Interactive Fanfiction Game

TLDR; In this new ZeroBaseOne interactive AU fanfiction game, the reader plays as the 10th member of a K-Pop group mistreated by their company and on a downward spiral. One day, there's a glitch in the matrix-- causing our reader to enter the "Metaverse", where they receive special superpowers through the birth of their true self in the form of a Persona. What if the members of ZeroBaseOne can band together as the Phantom Thieves to take down their company and save themselves from their fate?
An interactive game featuring hand-edited media, polls, and a points-system that gives the reader their own specially-tailored ending (will determine which love interest they end up with). Will be just as funny as it is angsty, I promise.
⁺⋆✰ Game Score Sheet
⁺⋆✰ Masterlist
⁺⋆✰ Part One Available Now!!
Warnings: PG-13+ Themes, Angst, Drinking, Mistreatment by Company, Slight Suggestiveness, Crime, Mild Violence (Specific Warnings Listed On Each Chapter)
All are welcome to read/play: our reader insert will not be referred to by ANY pronouns (including they/them) -- so that all readers can feel immersed! Reader is the 10th member of ZeroBaseOne, but the group will be referred to as an idol group, not a boy group or a mixed-gender group. It's just fiction, so use your imagination to make it however you like!!
Part One Coming Very Soon (Character Profiles, Reader's Persona Awakening, and the explosive start to our game!!)
Please continue to the introduction below...
Would you like to start a new game?
Excellent! The story in question features the nine members of ZeroBaseOne (well, 10 actually; including you, dear Player!) and their journey both in the real world and the Metaverse to defeat a company that has taken advantage of them for years. But before we get too far into the plot, let me introduce myself. I'm Kara, aka jebewonmorelike and I'll be your Game Master. I'll check in with you at the beginning of every chapter to give you reminders, content warnings, and any miscellaneous info you might need.
Get it, got it, good, Player?
Perfect! I think we're gonna get along just fine.
I'm sure by now you've realized that this is no ordinary work of fanfiction. No, no. It's something a bit different. A bit special, even.
If you choose to continue reading, there's a few things you should know...
You're about to play a game -- a game that's story and ending depends on the choices you make along the way.
Sounds cool, right?
I know! I can't take all the credit, though. This fanfiction game is heavily-inspired by the JRPG game Persona 5. What is Persona 5 about? The great part is that, honestly, it doesn't really matter whether you've had experience with the game or not in order to play the game I've designed for you today...
Don't sweat it! I'm gonna explain everything you need to know right now and it's nothing you should find too complicated. How does that sound, Player?
Wonderful! I had a good feeling about you right from the very beginning, Player.
Our story is, of course, about a group called ZeroBaseOne... Or, well... To be more precise, it's a story about a group that used to be called ZeroBaseOne. A little over a year ago, some sh*t went down and turned their whole world upside down forever.
While all ages and genders are welcome to play this game (our OC is pronoun-free!), there might be some mature themes in this game. Nothing too crazy-- swearing, mild violence, angst, drinking, crime, some suggestive themes, and, above all, bringing justice to a company that mistreats its talent...
Are you okay with a PG-13+ rated game, Player?
Great! And, don't worry: there will be plenty of comedy, too. Comedy, to me, is essential to any plot. I think you're gonna really like this game! I hope. *Sigh*
Aw... Thank you, Player. I appreciate the reassurance. I've been second-guessing my writing for months now and--... Oh, sorry, back to the description of the game!
Like I was saying, ZeroBaseOne doesn't really look much like the one we know in real life. Instead, the members are a bit older, a bit more worn out and, honestly, having a pretty rough go of it at this point. And whose to blame for that?
You're so smart, Player! Of course it's their company. I'd like to just state quickly that this game is just that-- a game. Fictional; a story! No agencies or people in this game are representative of real life things. Especially not their fictional company. *Bombastic side-eye*.
So why did I decide to make this game? Well, we all love reading fanfiction. But wouldn't it be even more fun if the reader had a say in the story? If the reader's choices led to the creation of their own specially-crafted fanfiction just for them?
Maybe, by now, you're wondering just what exactly are you playing this game to win? Well it's what almost everybody wants a shot at in life... Love. Throughout this game, you will make decisions that will give you points towards different group members. Keep track of your score and, at the end of the game, the member who you've earned the most points for will determine your ending (and your love interest).
All game resources will be listed in the description of each chapter, at the top and bottom of this introductory post, and on the Steal Your Heart masterlist. There will be many opportunities to interact with this game and it will include a lot of hand-edited graphics to look at it! I hope you enjoy them, as I've planned them quite tediously.
I wish I could accept the compliment, but alas... I am no angel. I'm just your Game Master. Feeding you the story, presenting you with choices...
It's up to you, Player, to make the story that you want.
Alright-- enough small talk! I think you're more than ready to get started with our game.
So, what do you say, Player?
Are you ready to begin a game where, as a member of ZeroBaseOne, you lead your group members to gain back their inner strength, develop magical powers and defeat the company that has ruined your lives for far too long-- and find love along the way?
Then by all means, Player...

The Dawn of the Orange Economy in India-Col Rajyavardhan Rathore

Unleashing India’s Creative Potential
India stands at the cusp of an economic revolution — one driven not by traditional industries, but by creativity, culture, and innovation. Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, a visionary leader and former Union Minister, has been a vocal advocate for India’s Orange Economy — a term coined by the Inter-American Development Bank to describe the economic potential of arts, culture, and creative industries.
In this blog, we explore Rathore’s vision for India’s Orange Economy, its immense potential, and how it can transform the nation’s economic and cultural landscape.
What is the Orange Economy?
The Orange Economy refers to the economic value generated from cultural and creative industries, including:
🎭 Performing & Visual Arts — Theatre, dance, music, painting, sculpture 📽️ Film & Entertainment — Bollywood, regional cinema, OTT platforms 📚 Publishing & Literature — Books, digital content, storytelling 🎨 Design & Fashion — Handicrafts, textiles, branding 🎮 Gaming & Digital Media — Animation, VFX, e-sports 🏛️ Cultural Heritage & Tourism — Museums, festivals, heritage sites
This sector thrives on human creativity, intellectual property, and cultural capital — resources that India possesses in abundance.
Rajyavardhan Rathore’s Vision for India’s Orange Economy
As a leader who has championed youth empowerment and digital innovation, Rathore recognizes that India’s soft power — its art, music, films, and traditions — can be a global economic force.
Key Pillars of His Vision:
1. “Create in India, for the World”
India must position itself as a global content hub, leveraging its storytelling traditions (Mahabharata, Panchatantra) and modern digital platforms.
Example: “RRR” and “The Elephant Whisperers” winning global acclaim prove India’s creative prowess.
2. Policy Support & Infrastructure
Govt. initiatives like “Creative India” and “Startup India” must integrate creative industries.
Incentives for film shoots, animation studios, and cultural startups to boost employment.
3. Monetizing Cultural Heritage
India’s 50+ UNESCO heritage sites and 8,000+ festivals can drive tourism and creative exports.
Example: “Incredible India” campaigns blending tradition with digital storytelling.
4. Tech Meets Creativity
AI, blockchain, and VR can revolutionize art restoration, virtual museums, and gaming.
Example: “Digital Ramayana” projects and metaverse cultural experiences.
Why India’s Orange Economy Will Thrive
✅ Demographic Dividend — 65% of India is under 35, a youthful, creative workforce. ✅ Untapped Potential — Only 3% of global creative trade comes from India (vs. 40% from US/EU). ✅ Global Demand — Yoga, Ayurveda, Bollywood, and Indian literature have worldwide appeal.
Challenges & The Way Forward
While opportunities are vast, India must address: 🔹 Lack of formal structure for artists & freelancers. 🔹 Copyright & piracy issues hurting creators. 🔹 Funding gaps for independent filmmakers, musicians.
Rathore’s Solutions:
National Creative Policy to protect artists’ rights.
Creative Entrepreneurship Funds for startups.
Skill Development in digital arts, animation, and cultural management.
Conclusion: A New Dawn for India
Rajyavardhan Rathore’s push for the Orange Economy aligns with India’s rise as a Vishwaguru — a global leader in culture and creativity. By investing in this sector, India can:
Generate millions of jobs.
Boost tourism & exports.
Strengthen soft power diplomacy.
The future is orange, and India is ready to shine.

The Digimon Card Game had originated as part of the Digimon franchise, beginning in Japan in 1997. The franchise started with the release of Digital Monsters, a range of virtual pets aimed at boys in response to the popularity of Tamagotchi. Given the popularity of these virtual pets, Bandai then expanded Digimon into various media such as anime, manga, video games and a card game.
The first version of the game, named the Digital Monster Card Game, released in Japan in 1999 and lasted until 2005. The game worked similarly to the Digital Pets, where Tamers could battle each other. We've even seen elements of this in one of the more recent sets the Classic Collection, which draws inspiration for the design and mechanics of the cards from the card game's origins. We have even seen the card game featured in the anime, with Digimon Tamers focusing on the existence of the Digimon Card Game in "our world" yet the cards are more than they seem. But what is Digimon Liberator?
Digimon Liberator is a webcomic set in the future, where the Digimon Card Game has evolved into a fully immersive game allowing players to enjoy card battles in a metaverse space. Think Sword Art Online, but with Digimon. The story is entirely free to read online, and sets the stage for an intense story following Shoto Kazama and his journey through this digital world to discover the secrets from deep within.
As the Digimon Card Game in the world of Digimon Liberator is the same one we experience, of course that means we get a set! Digimon Liberator includes characters from the webcomic and their partner Digimon; Zephagamon & Shoto Kazama, Cendrillmon & Arisa Kinosaki, and HeavyMetaldramon & Yuuki. Not only that, but you will also find a new keyword <Iceclad>.
<Iceclad> is a new keyword effect that has excellent affinity with "trash a digivolution card" effects in blue decks!
Instead of DP, the Digimon with more digivolution cards will win battles with non-Security Digimon!
Use this to counter your opponent's Digimon with high DP!
There are plenty of cards to be sought after in Digimon Liberator, such as the Mega Digimon special cards, and special alternate designs. You'll also receive a random alt-art card in the Legend Pack 2024, a booster pack box-topper included inside the booster box.
Digimon Liberator adds a new and unique twist on the existing card game, incorporating it once again into engaging media and spanning an Extra Booster for players to utilise within their decks.
Releasing on Friday 13th September, you can pre-order your packs from our site for as low as £3.45 for a booster pack, and £76.95 for a booster box!

The Telepathic District

"See you in the dream"
The "Telepathic District" was a classified mind experiment of secondary, yet significant nature that sought to explore the collective unconscious and the potential of shared telepathic communication within a constructed mental environment which was drawn, designed and memorized beforehand - an all-natural metaverse, so to speak.
The experiment took place within a cleanly mapped-out fictional district - a psychic playground of sorts - where our psychics and other employees within 5SD would try to interact beyond the confines of physical space, and later confirm to each other their activities they both executed or encountered in this mental space in an organized fashion.
The district featured easily recognizable and straightforward infrastructural components such as:
A pub
An avenue with benches to take walks, relax and meet
A public park with a water fountain
A small tram that would drive back and forth from both ends of the district.
The participants were tasked with memorizing the layout and frequently visiting this mental landscape in their subconscious while being physically distant from each other. The initial phase involved simple activities like testing the presence and recognition of each other, leaving messages for one another, telekinetic interactions with objects, recognizing gestures or postures, and silent observations of each other's mental avatars including the surroundings.
A consistent component, such as the small tram going back and forth in certain intervals, was integrated into the experimental map to test if its position can be recognized and matched by the participants. One of the goals was to recognize whether the movement and stopping of the tram on both ends gains an autonomous activity based on the shared subconscious "imagination" or expectation of the participants.
The duration of this experiment lasted 5 weeks. Sessions would be compartmented in days and shaped into a clear structure to note all occurrences effectively and distraction-free. In terms of the water fountain, the experiment was to gather recognition whether the fountain would shoot water on certain days, which was meant to be confirmed and denoted by all participants.
Each place within the mental realm was visited, observed and occupied in a sequence: Meeting at the avenue, visiting the water fountain, visiting the pub, and watching the position of the tram. The participants would write their encounters and experiences down so that the collected material would be compared with the experiences of all the participants at the end of the experiment. During the experiment, no information was divulged between each other as to not create and distraction or "pollution" of the experience.
As the project evolved, so did the unforeseen complexities of the human psyche. Some members reported experiencing matching vivid emotional exchanges and even the occasional clash of wills, while others claimed to have stumbled upon hidden, introspective truths about themselves and their colleagues. For example, if two individuals would wave at each other at the avenue, the chance of matching recognitions would be measured at 25.1% to 55%. Yet, it was often reported that many interactions would be either too fast-paced, unsteady, or vague.
In those follow-up reports to match and confirm occurrences, some participants would indeed write down the name of who they saw sitting on the bench, for example, and describe specific details of the observation, focusing only on the necessities. Specifics such as clothing worn were included at times, but not overly emphasized - both in the experiences and the reports.
Notes were recorded, for example, as follows:
DEAN "Jack waved at me from the bench. The tram was at stop A." JACK "I waved at Dean from the bench. The tram was at stop A."
Or:
MARY "I saw Dean near the water fountain. There was no water. He recognized me." DEAN "I was at the water fountain. I saw no water. I did not see anyone else."
The conclusion of this project remained inconclusive, despite certain interlocking situations of various participants would recognize a match in examples like the position of the tram, or meeting at the pub, or which drink they chose at the pub.
While some participants reported successful telepathic interactions, others found themselves lost in a labyrinth of their own thoughts. The fact that another party would appear in either of those places was largely dependent on each participant's ability to "tap" into this uncertain, unpredictable territory. Although everyone was well aware of the layout and design of the district, both mismatches and matches occured relatively equally. The performance and efforts of all individuals involved could not have been more ambitious. Yet, the idea to further refine those skills prevailed.
We decided to treat the endeavor as an ongoing process of discovery rather than a definitive "victory" or "failure". What once was a lightly classified and unconventional project, it took the shape of a shareable "fun game" for anyone who has the time, patience, and individuals to to execute such undertaking wilfully and organizedly.
One thing can be stated: It is a long and sometimes tiring process, and it occasionally raised the question among ourselves: "What the hell are we doing?". After all, such experiment was both valuable and worth trying. It would take only the natural person, without any immersive technology or tricks, to engage in this activity of "imaginative telepathy".
Some of the main questions, before this experiment, were: - Can intelligence be exchanged telepathically? - Can a safe space be created within the mental space? - Can lucid dreaming be used to make conscious contact between the minds of two physically separate individuals? - Can multiple individuals appear at those places simultaneously?
The Telepathic District is technically still up and running, and hypothetically just an empty district. That being said, we can only say: "See you in the dream!". The pub is always open.

3d Y2k in Graphic Designing
Trends come and go in the world of graphic design, but some are hard to forget. Among them, 3D Y2K design is a trend that has caught my attention over the last few years. It's an aesthetic that takes the nostalgia of early 2000s internet culture and the futuristic appeal of three-dimensional digital artistry to a new level. As graphic designers seek fresh ways to captivate audiences, 3D Y2K has emerged as a common trend that speaks to both nostalgia and innovation.
What is 3D Y2K Design?
3D Y2K design is a renewed take on the early 2000s digital aesthetic but with a twist. It has shiny metallic textures, bubble-like typography, neon gradients, and cyber-inspired elements. Imagine a shiny, future-like interface in early computer advertisements, video game graphics, or sci-fi movies from the late '90s and early 2000s. Often, these feel dreamy, surreal, and hyper-digital, with over-the-top lighting effects, smooth curved surfaces, and an overall look of futurism.
Key Elements of 3D Y2K Design
• Glossy and metallic finishes – Reflective, liquid-like surfaces that give a smooth, futuristic look. • Bubble and chrome typography – Thick, shiny letters often thought of as old-school WordArt or futuristic sign billboarding. • Neon and holographic gradients – Bright, high contrast colors giving off the feel of digital aesthetics. • Cyber-inspired motifs – Grid background, wireframe items, and pixelated details • Soft, rounded edges and inflated shapes, such as balloons. Such is the aesthetic blending elements of historical digital culture along with modernistic 3D rendering techniques: bold and graphic.
Why is 3D Y2K Interesting?
The most obvious reason why 3D Y2K design has been quite popular among graphic artists is because of its powerful nostalgic value. Millennials and Gen Z audiences grew up in an era where the internet was born, and so they are heavily attached to visual aesthetics of those times. Retro-futurism reminds them of the first websites, computer games, and advertisements they used to see as kids, thus emotionally attaching itself to them. At the same time, 3D Y2K design is also fantastically futuristic. With cutting-edge techniques used in rendering and lighting effects and digital textures, it's like this design breathes fresh air of forward thinking. It's old-school with digital charm yet matches current innovation, setting it apart from other minimalist and flat designs in the pack.
The other point of attraction would be its high visual drama. A 3D element naturally brings depth and reality, making the design more immersive and engaging. When used in branding, web design, motion graphics, or advertising, the glossy, hyper-digital style of Y2K 3D immediately turns heads.
Why is 3D Y2K a Common Trend in Graphic Design?
The emergence of 3D Y2K as a strong contender for the trend in graphic design can't be far from the following major reasons:
1. Advancements in 3D Design Software Modern AI software such as Blender, Cinema 4D, and Adobe Substance 3D are now giving graphic artists the ability to create stunning 3D graphics more easily than ever before. Simple-to-follow tutorials and an AI-assisted rendering workforce allow only the most brave of artists to try their hands at this aesthetic, no heavy lifting/professional experience needed in 3D modeling at all.
2. Rise of Y2K Aesthetic in Fashion, Culture, and Somewhere in Between The revival of the Y2K aesthetic: it is back and in your face in fashion, music, and media. Celebrities, influencers, and brands affordably sport early 2000s looks, thus allowing themselves to be embraced by digital and graphic design currents.
3. Digital Realism and the Metaverse As the hyper-realistic requirement is growing for digital cinemas, especially in metaverses, for high-end NFTs and digital spaces, the futuristic yet nostalgic appeal of 3D Y2K design establishes its relevance in the dynamic digital world.
4. Social Media and Virals 3D Y2K designs are the definition of viral due to their splashy aesthetics. Many graphic artists express their Y2K vibes on Instagram, TikTok, or Behance, giving rise to more trends.
All in all, 3D Y2K design is not just a fad; it's an active blend of nostalgia and digital postmodernism. It attracts attention and evokes emotion, therefore making itself versatile to be integrated into any creative field-and is for this reason chosen by many graphic designers. As technology grows and the need for immersive digital experiences increases, the 3D Y2K aesthetic will likely be around for decades to come in the graphic arts. This is worth investigating if you're just a designer who would like to take a shot at new stylings and wonder about digital art and 3D Y2K in itself-a fascinating field to look into!
