I tried explaining Virus Morocco to my friend but I kept forgetting to explain MAJOR PARTS so I'd have to backtrack.
Me: so Jules Verne-
Friend: THE JULES VERNE?
Me: yes. Anyways, Jules wants to talk to Morocco because he was friends with him. Morocco is like 150+ years old-
Friend: wha-
Me: maybe I should've explained that first oops.
(Anyways hiiiii @xxenobiology this is the RB sideblog hello.)

I'm just gonna say it.
Doctor Morocco is basically William Afton.
Association with Color Purple, no qualms about murdering children, robotics Genius, "I always come back", keeps popping up no matter how many times the protagonists think they got rid of him, obsessed with living robots,
And biggest of all
Eventually returns as a Computer Virus hidden inside a videogame and brainwashes somebody.
Doctor Morocco is basically William Afton.

I wonder if The Desert Rose's MC will be a scientist, a virologist. As a scientist myself I'm personally excited for a scientist MC, in case she's one or perhaps she could be some kind of doctor too. All we know so far is that she's apparently a Moroccan girl living in Brazil who will return to her homeland (Morocco) to save it from a strange virus. And perhaps the cure is in that rose they're trying to find :0

So about The Desert Rose, hear me out!
I don't know if y'all are familiarized with it but there's a show from Brazil called O Clone and many people related it with The Desert Rose the first time they heard about it... With the story already released, we can see there isn't actually many similarities between the story and that show, there is some influence like Jack and Yasmin having history together and Jack being similar to Lucas or Leo in personality, Zuleika having similarities to Zoraide, the setting and some aesthetic things but that's about it and there aren't any more similarities.
The thing is, I've read the interviews with the writer (Amy G.) and she doesn't seem to like her story being seen as similar to O Clone. However, it's a bit difficult not to do it because the setting is exactly the same (Morocco-Brazil).
So if the writer didn't want people to unconsciously relate The Desert Rose with O Clone, why did she choose the exact same setting? In her interview, she said she chose Brazil because she had to pick a Western country to contrast with Morocco, she said she thought about the US but that'd be too overused (or something similar, I don't remember the exact words) and then she said she thought about France but France and Morocco share some background and it wouldn't be that different (again I don't remember the exact words). And that because of that she had no choice but to pick Brazil. But by doing that, she's making people relate the show with the story and she doesn't want that...
So I have a solution for that: Germany!
Why didn't she choose Germany? Germany is a Western country, German and Moroccan culture are strikingly different and Germany also fits very well in the context of viruses research and scientific research, because according to Google, the raw output of scientific research from Germany consistently ranks among the world's highest so it wouldn't be strange to have some German scientists researching the virus. I can't help but think Germany would have been perfect for it and no one would have related The Desert Rose with the Brazilian show if the story had been set in Germany-Morocco. Moreover, it would have been a very interesting combination, but anyway, it didn't happen and now it seems like a wasted opportunity.
What are your thoughts? Would you have liked to see the story set in Germany-Morocco? Or do you like it as it is? (Also posted it on the new RC subreddit if you prefer to discuss it there)

Sundance Review: Stress Positions: A Virus Comedy that Manages to Infect Itself
Movie info via Sundance: Terry Goon is keeping strict quarantine in his ex-husband’s Brooklyn brownstone while caring for his nephew — a 19-year-old model from Morocco named Bahlul — bedridden in a full leg cast after an electric scooter accident. Unfortunately for Terry, everyone in his life wants to meet the model. Stress Positions is as much a finely tuned time capsule of the frantic fear…

Coronavirus: Latest Statistics on Bill's Bible Basics Blog https://www.billkochman.com/Blog/index.php/coronavirus-latest-statistics-bills-bible-basics-blog/ NOTE: Be advised that due to the ongoing situation regarding the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, this blog post will be updated frequently, as my time permits, until world health officials determine that the virus has peaked, and is on a steady downward trend worldwide. CORONAVIRUS LATEST STATISTICS Last Updated On: Saturday, February 27, 2021 Last Updated At: 01:24 PM ChST (Chamorro Standard Time/GMT+10) Total Countries Infected: 192 Please note that the accuracy of the figures which are shared in this BBB Blog post is based on two things: 1. The honesty and accuracy of the governments and health institutions which are reporting these statistics. 2. The level of testing which is being conducted by each nation which contributes statistics to this list. Having said that, because some nations have been very slow to conduct tests, and/or have a very limited number of test kits in their possession, it is most probable that the figures listed below are far below reality. In short, the more tests each nation conducts, the more accurate these statistics will become over time. However, they will never be completely accurate due to a variety of reasons, which I explain in my series "Coronavirus: Just the Facts, Ma'am", as well as in other BBB Blog posts.
