'Cillian Murphy had just spent the day filming what felt like 30 scenes on “Oppenheimer” with the desert sand kicking up and blasting into his eyes when his co-star Robert Downey Jr. greeted him, trying to boost his spirits. And — this is how Downey remembers it, and when the legend becomes fact, print the legend — Murphy launched into a lament about how, when he had returned to his “18-dollar-a-night hotel room” the previous evening, he found his bags in the hallway and thought, “F—! I haven’t checked out yet. I have to sleep!”
“Every indignity that could befall someone who’s trying to do something .... It was like the tears of Job,” Downey related after a recent screening of the Christopher Nolan blockbuster. “Forget the call sheet and the job. It was everything else. It was the most Irish experience I’ve ever witnessed.”
Nearly two years later, Murphy and I are talking on a late-autumn day in L.A. He’s removing his coat and pulling his chair into the sun because, yes, he’s Irish, and part of the Irish experience is to soak up as much sun as possible when the opportunity presents itself. As to what Downey is ascribing to his native land, Murphy can do nothing but laugh.
“I don’t know if that means that Irish people are more predisposed to suffering,” Murphy says, smiling. “I think he’s being very sweet and saying we were like a troupe, moving at quite a pace. We were just staying at motels by the freeway and moving around. It was not glamorous. The way Chris works is that everything is equitable. No one has trailers or personal makeup. Everyone gets in a bus. It feels like independent filmmaking, but on a f—ing grand scale. And that’s the way I enjoy working.”
Murphy, 47, also enjoys not working, and he’s had a successful enough career in the two decades since his film breakthrough in Danny Boyle’s 2002 classic zombie film “28 Days Later” that he can describe such periods as being “happily unemployed.” That was where he was at a couple of years ago. He’d finished shooting the sixth (and final) season of the entertaining BBC crime drama “Peaky Blinders” and was in the midst of a glorious six months enjoying the company of his wife, Irish visual artist Yvonne McGuinness, and their two teenage sons. Then Nolan called out of the blue.
Actually, it wasn’t Nolan, but his wife and producing partner, Emma Thomas. It couldn’t be Nolan, because Nolan doesn’t have a phone, an eccentricity that’s either endearing or infuriating depending on the context. Thomas handed the phone to her husband, who told Murphy — in what the actor calls an “unbelievably understated British way” — “I’m making a film about Oppenheimer.” Pause. “I’d like you to play Oppenheimer.”
And just like that, Murphy was no longer happily unemployed. He was playing the title character in Nolan’s sprawling drama about the physicist known as the “father of the atomic bomb.”
“A big moment,” Murphy calls it, no stranger to restraint himself. Pause. “A biggie.”
In conversation, Murphy is pleasant and reflective when talking about his native country (he could and should write a book on the Ring of Kerry or at least narrate a self-guided tour) and the arts. I’d read that Nolan sent him photos of David Bowie wearing high-waisted, voluminous trousers from the singer’s Thin White Duke era as a visual reference for the gaunt silhouette he imagined for Oppenheimer, a man who possessed such a manic work ethic that he forgot to eat, subsisting on martinis and Chesterfield cigarettes. I pull up a photo of Bowie taken shortly before his death, wearing a sharp suit, black fedora and beaming smile.
“He looks a little alien, which is what we were going for with Oppenheimer, I think,” Murphy says. He holds onto my phone, looking at Bowie. “One of the greats. That last album [“Blackstar”] was f—ing extraordinary. What a gift to leave us with. Nobody else could have gone out like that.”
Murphy’s most striking feature — his piercing blue eyes — have been noted at length, for good reason. “Oppenheimer” co-star Matt Damon notes how he’d find himself distracted working with Murphy. “It’s a real problem when you’re doing scene work with Cillian [because] sometimes you find yourself just swimming in his eyes,” he told People.
Those eyes are what first attracted Nolan to him. The filmmaker was leafing through a newspaper while writing “Batman Begins” and came across a photo of Murphy from “28 Days Later.” He couldn’t shake the image of this actor with a shaved head and “crazy eyes” and made a note to meet with Murphy for Batman, a role that eventually went to Christian Bale.
They’ve now made six movies together, with Murphy playing the menacing Scarecrow in the “Dark Knight” trilogy, a petulant business heir in “Inception” and a character known simply — and quite accurately — as “Shivering Soldier” in “Dunkirk.” They share a mutual interest in conveying a character’s emotional conflict through close-ups that linger on an actor’s face and allow the audience to feel inner turmoil. In Oppenheimer’s case, it was the searing anguish of a man a bit late to realize and appreciate the consequences of what he’d created.
“To me, great screen acting is all about ‘show, don’t tell,’” Murphy says, “and being able to transmit emotion and energy just by force or presence or charisma.”
I ask him about influences in that regard, but Murphy demurs, saying that if he starts listing actors, he’ll wake up in the middle of the night, thinking, “F—, I left that person out.” He reiterates that his favorite movie moments aren’t big set pieces but watching actors in reflection, inactive, doing nothing, but revealing everything. “I find that compelling in the highest order,” he says.
Murphy had ample opportunity to do just that in “Oppenheimer,” portraying a character caught in a moral dilemma of his own making.
“I knew it would have to be a quiet, small performance, because the themes are f—ing huge,” Murphy says. “What’s happening inside his heart and his mind can’t be painted big, particularly when it’s captured on an Imax camera and it’s going to be shown on a f—ing 80-foot screen. I knew it would have to be delicate and tiny, most of it.”
Murphy doesn’t like to dwell on what he did once call the “monastic experience” of the film’s 57-day shoot or on the months it took to decompress afterward. Such talk would be a little too close to the “Irish experience” Downey had mentioned. But all of these efforts did make me think about something that Emily Blunt, who plays Oppenheimer’s wife, Kitty, in the film and worked with Murphy in “A Quiet Place Part II,” noted about him.
“She said that off set, you’re a hoot,” I tell him, fishing for an example or two. Murphy does not oblige, but he does express how his friendship with Blunt created a trust that informed their portrayal of lifelong partners.
“She’s also one of the funniest people, and I have a rule that I can’t work unless there’s a lightness around the set,” Murphy says. “There has to be some levity. A lot of the films I do are quite heavy and go to some dark, challenging places, and you have to be relaxed to do that. So I don’t walk around in a state of f—ing angst. I need to feel at ease. I can’t be in that dark place all the time. I don’t have the stamina for it.”
Murphy saw “Oppenheimer” at the film’s July world premiere in Paris. Two days later, he and the rest of the cast left the London premiere to show their support for the impending SAG-AFTRA strike. By the time he returned home to Dublin, his wife and sons had already seen “Barbie,” so Murphy went to the cinema by himself to complete the “Barbenheimer” experience.
How do you go incognito to the multiplex, I ask.
“I time going to movies very well now,” Murphy says. “With the ads and trailers, I always arrive a half hour late, slip in and then slip out.”
I grouse how that half hour feels like it’s getting longer by the year. Murphy agrees. And yet ...
“The greatest democratic collective art form is sitting in a darkened space with strangers,” he says. “To be part of a movie that people went to see multiple times and part of a great moment for cinema, that frenzy for those two films, was just lovely. I don’t know if we’ll ever see it again, but I’d like to hope so.”

Madame Sherri’s Castle
West Chesterfield, New Hampshire
In the 1920s, Madame Antoinette Sherri was a French costume designer who catered to the actors and actresses in New York City. She moved there from France with her husband in 1911. Madame Sherri also did a little Vaudeville acting, dancing, and singing on the side. During the summers she would visit with an actor friend who spent his summers in West Chesterfield, New Hampshire. She liked the area so much that after her friend passed away, in 1927 she built a chateau style mansion in the area and would host very large extravagant parties of which most of the guests were the rich and elite from New York City. The mansion had a grand stairway made of stone that led to a large red door which served as the entrance. Local residents referred to her chateau as Madame Sherri’s Castle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Madame Sherri became known to the locals in West Chesterfield as quite an eccentric. She was known to cruise around town in her cream colored Packard touring convertible wearing nothing but a fur coat. When she was wearing clothes, she wore some of her extravagant costumes that she designed. Besides the lavish parties that she would throw in the mansion, she lived in a much smaller cottage near the place. That home was later discovered to be packed full of boxes and such, leaving very little room for living space. There always seemed to be a entourage of young french beauties that was in her company which led some to believe she used the castle as a brothel.
As Madame Sherri grew older and had a harder time getting around she moved to a nursing home in Brattleboro, Vermont. Over the years her castle sat empty and had been looted and vandalized several times. In 1962 the castle burned to the ground. Madame Sherri made arrangements to have the grounds and castle remains sold. On the day the sale was finalized, Madame Sherri passed away. Many believe that this meant her spirit was tied to the castle and remains there to this day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today, the castle ruins remain in what is now the Madame Sherri Forest near West Chesterfield, New Hampshire. The stone foundation, fireplace and grand stairway entrance are still intact. Many visitors to what remains of Madame Sherri’s castle claim that they heard the sounds of a grand party emanating from the ruins with music playing, guests chattering and having a good time. Others say they have seen the Madame Sherri’s apparition ascending the grand staircase in one of her extravagant dresses.
The Madame Sherri Forest is a 488 acre preserve open to the public and can be found near West Chesterfield, New Hampshire on Gulf Road just off the Vermont border.

“I’m not entirely sure how me insulting the very core of his being ended in you two moving in together, but I’m happy it did.” Jules had spent a very long time that morning groveling, until you had finally decided it was enough. Sy had actually been more than happy to let her off the hook, but that just didn’t fly with you. Then again, Jules and Patrick were helping Sy move his stuff from the company warehouse to your place, which made up for whatever you felt she still needed to make up for. The boys were still on their way with the big stuff, which meant you and Jules had found some time for tea.
“You don’t think this is a ridiculous idea?” Despite being fairly sure that Sy was the love of your life, you still wondered if four months wasn’t too soon to take such a drastic step. You were entirely confident you’d never forgive yourself if you fucked this up for good.
Jules thought about that for a moment.
“No,” she said, “I think it’s a good idea. I handpicked this one for you, Lara.” You couldn’t deny that. Besides, even you were a long ways past pretending she hadn’t made a damn fine choice.
The guys finally arrived, and as it turned out, you and Jules could continue your lovely little tea party, because you were no use at all when it came to lifting couches. The dark leather of Sy’s vintage chesterfields went nicely with the deep blue you’d settled on for the wall behind the fireplace. It was cozy, but the large windows in the back wall prevented it from becoming too dark altogether. Jules looked around with an approving smile on her face as you watched the men move the sofa around – and occasionally gave instructions. You smiled. Jules telling the boys where to put things in your house was very on brand for her. It was also a good thing she was giving the exact instructions you would have, so you didn’t have to interrupt her.
The past week with Sy had been absolutely amazing. Most of it had been filled with making plans for the house, which included finally moving your bedroom upstairs…
“We could take my bed? It’s bigger,” Sy had suggested when you were going over the furniture you had between the two of you. It was true, but you had still found it unnecessary at first. He’d had to point out to you roughly seventy times that he hadn’t known you would only be sleeping in your new bed for around two months before the two of you would move in together – and honestly, if he had known, you wouldn’t have believed him if he had told you that from the beginning.
“We sleep on the same ninety centimeters,” you had said, “sorry, that’s…”
Sy finished your sentence before you could even start to do the math: “Three feet.” You had shrugged, assuming he was right – probably more so than you would have been, anyway. You had also secretly hoped that he would drop the subject, but he didn’t. In the end, you hadn’t been able to make any kind of a solid case against a bigger bed. The only problem was that it would be far too big for the room that was currently your bedroom. Sy’s suggestion had been to make your shared bedroom and the en-suite bathroom the next projects around the house, which you had agreed to. It would be nice to have a modern bathroom, not the provisionally repaired and still slightly disgusting – the kind that didn’t go away from cleaning – wreck you had been living with until now.
Luckily, Sy hadn’t been needed at work the entire week, and your bedroom had been blessed with painted walls and a floor that wasn’t beyond depressing.
“The floor looks amazing, Sy,” you had said as you walked into the room for the first time – carefully, because you were fairly sure Sy would have had your head if you had scratched it on day one.
“Are you sayin’ that ‘cause you think I wanna hear it, Sugar?” he’d asked with an impossibly big grin on his face. You had confirmed his suspicion when you rolled your eyes– you couldn’t really muster up more enthusiasm about a goddamn floor. That being said, you had definitely had to admit it looked better than before. It looked like it hadn’t been dead and buried underneath ugly carpet for God knows how long.
“Well, you’d be right, I do wanna hear it. Sandin’ the sumbitch down damn near cost me my back.” Of course, you had immediately offered to take care of that with a massage, knowing full well there was no way either of you would ever have been able to keep your hands off the other.
The past days had been filled with disagreements on the colors of rugs, curtains, and paint. Moving in together meant a little bit of a clash between Sy’s taste for more dark and intense colors, and your preference for more neutral tones and a more feminine touch. Sy won your little squabble about the color of the bedroom – although black wasn’t technically a color – and now you were seriously considering giving him the green light to go dark for the bathroom as well, because you actually really liked the cozy feeling the dark walls gave you. Of course you made the mistake of telling him that, which made him slightly more arrogant than was useful when trying to negotiate other things, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like your man a lot cocky and a little bossy at times.
When it came to the furnishing of the bedroom, Sy felt it was absolutely necessary to badger you with the same old subject you’d said no to a million times; what to do with his TV. Or rather; what to do with your TV, since his was – once again – bigger, and therefore it made sense to put that one in the living room.
“Absolutely not, Sy,” you said for the millionth time that week, while cleaning the kitchen. Suddenly, an arm appeared on either side of you and he had you pinned in place against the counter.
“Why not, Sugar?” He sounded pouty. Why did he sound pouty? It didn’t suit him. It was cute, though – at least it could be, when you weren’t already on edge about having to clean your entire house several times a day because remodeling just did that.
“Because, Sy, we don’t need a TV in our bedroom,” you said. Every time you found yourself using the words ‘our bedroom’, you got butterflies in your stomach. Right now, it was highly inconvenient, because you were trying to sound serious.
“But…” That was it. You turned around between his arms, which was difficult, because he held you against the counter pretty tightly, and looked up at him.
“Jonathan George Syverson, if you want your dick sucked in that bedroom, ever again, you’ll listen to me. There will be no TV in our bedroom.” You made sure to carefully emphasize every last word in that sentence. “Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes ma’am, abundantly.” End of discussion.

She will be loved
Pairing: Robert Lewis x Fem reader
Warning: Fluff, Minor marijuana use, Alcohol, and emotions
Description: After having enough of your family, ex boyfriend, and hometown you run away with your new friends Celine and Robert falling for the kind man
Tumblr media
Beauty queen of only eighteen she had some trouble with herself he was always there to help her she always belonged to someone else
You just wanted away from everything around you from your ex boyfriend not leaving you alone, your family constantly putting you down every day,and to getting fired from your job and losing hours for your other job you just didn't care anymore about what happened to you until you met two of the most unlikely people who would become all the family you needed.
I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door I've had you so many times but somehow I want more
You met Robert and Celine when you were being followed and harassed by your ex boyfriend and his friends walking home from work telling them to leave you alone and even pushing your ex Ricky away from you making him mad, grabbing and choking you until robert came crashing into and punching him while celine threatened the others who tried to grab you with a gun helping you up and the three of you running away until you were at an abandoned apartment complex officially meeting each other and thanking them not knowing where this would lead for your future.
I don't mind spending every day out on your corner in the pouring rain look for the girl with the broken smile ask her if she wants to stay awhile and she will be loved
After seeing them for a week they asked if you wanted to come with them aimlessly traveling around from state to state running from their lives falling apart and starting over smiling as you think and agree packing all your important belongings and leaving everything else behind and going with them leaving your hometown of Spanish Fork, Utah and heading around the US with them immediately loving your new life with the duo than you ever loved your old life.
And she will be loved tap on my window knock on my door I want to make you feel beautiful I know I tend to get so insecure doesn't matter anymore it's not always rainbows and butterflies
After 3 months of state hopping the three of you get ransom money and end up finding an apartment in Chesterfield Missouri soon realizing the last little bit of your trip that you were in love with robert not knowing what to do thinking that he was in love with celine deciding not to tell either of them but that changed one night after a series of events in the apartment you three shared.
It's compromise it moves us along my heart is full and my door's always open you come anytime you want I don't mind spending every day out on your corner in the pouring rain look for the girl with the broken smile ask her if she wants to stay awhile
The three of you shared a blunt and celine got a cup of rum drinking it as you laughed at robert finishing off the blunt feeling calm and relaxed but also warmth, comfort, and pure bliss in his company not knowing whether it was because of the weed or because how sweet he was being from handing you a drink when you started coughing from the blunt and putting a blanket over you when he noticed your feet tapping which happened when you were anxious to sitting by you on the couch watching tv and the two of you sharing takeout that celine brought back 15 minutes earlier both of you laughing when you watched celine walk off almost falling from how drunk she was going to her room to sleep.
And she will be loved and she will be loved I know where you hide alone in your car know all of the things that make you who you are I know that goodbye means nothing at all comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls
The two of you eat and talk while watching a random episode of Dharma and Greg which you had loved and introduced him to on your trip while staying in Iowa before going to California for the last bit of ransom money to truly start over together promising that no matter what happened the three of you wouldn't leave each other behind or alone "What's making you smile over there?" you look over at him after zoning back shaking your head "Just thinking of when we made our promise that it's us three from this point on" he smiles remembering the day in Wyoming after leaving Utah and staying a few days in Colorado as the two helped you get used to being on the road you slowly moved closer as he zones back confused making you laugh "I'm not leaving just moving closer you're a natural heater after all" shaking his head remembering how you always would steal his spot in a bed if he was up always taking the other side letting you sleep knowing how cold you'd get even when it was warm at night.
Tap on my window knock on my door I want to make you feel beautiful I don't mind spending every day out on your corner out in the pouring rain look for the girl with the broken ask her if she wants to stay awhile and she will be loved
Soon he noticed you tapping your feet and your hands fiddling in your lap "Hey what's wrong?" you look up feeling your heart race "I want to say something...but I don't know whether I should because I'm scared" he looks at you in confusion and a bit of worry "You don't have to be scared just tell me" you sigh and slowly lean in but right when you were a few inches from each other "I'm in love with you and I'm terrified that you don't feel the same cause I thought you were in love with celine" you look at the floor not knowing what else to say until the thing you least expected happened.
And she will be loved and she will be loved I don't mind spending every day out on your corner in the pouring rain please don't try so hard to say goodbye
You both leaned forward in a tender and hesitant but tentative kiss your hands tangling in his hair while his left hand was under your chin and his right one was on the side of your face leading to the two of you getting together and a month later getting a house together not too far from the apartment complex still seeing and hanging out with celine and her new boyfriend Tommy still keeping the promise the three of you made always being there for the other being a family and you didn't regret leaving your old life behind at all.

"FURTHER ATTEMPT TO RAID RADIO CAR HALTED BY POLICE," Toronto Globe. October 5, 1933. Page 1 & 2. --- Four Arrests Made as Others Make Getaway-Peace Efforts Under Way ---- MEN TO BE CANVASSED ---- (Canadian Press Despatch.) Stratford, Oct. 4. - An attempt to cripple a box car in which radio cabinets were being loaded at the McLagan Furniture Company plant today was thwarted by police after a raiding party of 18 furniture strikers or sympathizers had made a surprise attack on the company's property. Four of the "raiders" were seized by police as the others made their get-away through near-by fields. Charges will be laid against the four men, police stated tonight.
Following the edict of the radio manufacturers after fire had damaged a carload of cabinets at Kitchener early today, carloading started simultaneously this afternoon at the Preston-Noelting and McLagan plants. The radio manufacturers had declared they would have removed to- day every bit of work they had placed in Stratford and would immediately cancel all future orders. They claim the burning of the car was aimed at the radio manufacturers, and not at the Stratford furniture manufacturers, against whom the strike is being waged.
City and Provincial Police stood guard at the Preston-Noelting plant, but the small crowd was quiet. At the request of the management no police were stationed at the McLagan plant, but they were subject to call.
"Spot" the Car. As operations progressed at the factory, however, a raiding party entered the property, some scaling and others crawling under a high board fence surrounding the plant. Unseen by the carloaders, they crawled under the loading shed and commenced pushing the car out of the siding. But before doing so the waste had been removed from the axle boxes of the car and cinders substituted, the intention, ap- parently, being to cause a "hot box" when the car got under way. A white rag was also spiked to the top of the car, police believing this being placed to enable strikers to "spot" the car.
As the car began to move down the siding a hurried call was sent for the police, and on their arrival the raiders made a break. Four were arrested. Following the burning of the box- car at Kitchener early today, extra precautions are being taken by the Canadian National Railways tonight and railway police officials are maintaining a strict guard.
With the removal of the car from the Preston-Noelting plant, all the radio cabinets have departed from there. The McLagan plant still has a few on hand, which will be sent out by express, probably tomorrow. Police were on guard at both plants tonight.
Leaders of the Chesterfield and Furniture Workers' Industrial Union, which called the men out, denied any connection with the fire at Kitchener. Isadore Minster, organizer of the Workers' Unity League, parent body of the union, suggested the manufacturers had been responsible for the fire in order to win public support. Rioting Not Anticipated.
While there seems little danger of rioting such as characterized the strike at the Swift Canadian Company plan; last week, the strike of the furniture workers is by no means concluded, employers and employees seeming as far apart as when the strike started three weeks ago. One manufacturer estimated more than $50,000 in wages had been lost to the men since they walked out.
The manufacturers still express willingness to negotiate with their own employees, but refuse to recognize the union. Among many of the men it is known there is a feeling to get back to work. Meetings are being held among those so inclined, and petitions are also being circulated for the signatures of those who wish to return. Provided these are sufficiently signed, the various managements may be approached, irrespective of the union, and a resumption of activities in part at least, take place.
No Identity of Firebugs. Kitchener, Oct. 4.--Intensive investigation by Kitchener and railway police tonight had failed to reveal the Idervlity of the incendiarist who, in the early hours of the day, fired the contents of a radio-cabinet-filled box-car in the Canadian National freight yards here.
The only clue to aid them in their search for the man responsible for the blaze and indirectly responsible for loss of close to $100,000 to Stratford furniture manufacturers was the lower half of a jar which had contained the gasoline thrown over the car before it was ignited.
The radio cabinets had been loaded into freight cars in Stratford yes.er- day from the strike-crippled factories there, and were en route to Toronto. The train stopped here, and while some of the cars were being shunted, the car carrying the cabinets and panels was fired.
Police found the seal on the door of the car had been broken off, gasoline had been sprayed over the contents, and approximately a third of the machine frames inside were charred. It is thought the work was done by strike sympathizers who rode on the roof or bumper of the car from Stratford. The car was unattended in the yards at the time the fire broke out, the other cars being shunted by the train crew. Police and firemen hurried to the scene, and were able to confine the flames to a small part of the car.
Aid Stratford Strikers. London, Ont., Oct. 4. - London Trades and Labor Council tonight voted $50 to assist strikers at Stratford and adopted a resolution asking all labor men to place a virtual boycott on all goods manufactured by the six furniture factories and the Swift Canadian Company, where are on strike for higher wages. workers

Why Choose Tristram's
Tumblr media
Tristram’s Sales and Lettings are an award winning local independent Estate Agency covering Derbyshire Property Markets. Tristram’s have sometimes been known to go slightly further than these areas, such as Mansfield, Loughborough and Chesterfield. Tristram’s have won multiple awards for the service that they provide, including an award for Small Agency of the Year 2021, competing against agents from all over the country. To date this is Tristram’s most valued award. Tristram’s often get recognised in the local area as winners against our local competitors in such awards like, The British Property Awards. Who conduct local surveys to seek the best agents once a year.

Dominion Real Estate Advisors completes 15-year, 90,000 SF Lease with Swedish subsidiary RoboVent
Tumblr media
Posted by Crain's Detroit Business | Kurt Nagl | December 12, 2023
RoboVent, a supplier of air filtration systems to automotive and other industries, is planning to invest $1 million in a new 90,000-square-foot plant in Macomb County to handle recent growth.
The company is preparing to move from its 54,000-square-foot space in Sterling Heights into a 15-year lease at a newly constructed industrial building at 52029 Sierra Dr. in Chesterfield Township, President Rick Kreczmer said.
RoboVent, which employs about 120 workers with 76 in Michigan, will begin moving in February and is expected to be settled in by the end of May. The company will add a handful of employees to start and more as demand warrants.
RoboVent’s roots are in automotive, but it has seen significant growth in other industries, including aerospace, powder and bulk, pharmaceuticals, food processing, agriculture and construction. Electric vehicles and batteries are another major target for expansion, Kreczmer said.
“Whether it has wings, wheels or floats, if it has a weld on it, it’s going to create fumes,” he said. “It’s up to us to take that out of the factory environment.”
The company’s line of products includes portable and modular units for dust, fume and mist collection. Its equipment is found in factories across North America, from tier one suppliers and machine shops to automaker assembly plants.
RoboVent outfitted Rivian’s plant in Illinois with air filters and counts Tesla as a major customer. Other customers include the Detroit 3 automakers, Iroquois Industries, Tenneco, Forvia and Lear.
Its value proposition is simple: Healthy air creates healthier, more productive employees, Kreczmer said.
“If someone does metal working in Michigan, I’d be hard pressed to say that they don’t have one of our products in one shape or form, whether it’s a centralized solution designed specifically for their line or application, a modified version or they purchased our stuff through an integrator,” said Frank Cea, vice president of growth and engagement for the company.
RoboVent’s revenue is on pace to grow 15% over last year to $43 million. Kreczmer, who took the reins at the company five years ago, said he hopes to sustain that growth by diversifying. About 65% of its revenue still comes from automotive, with 80% tied to welding.
Founded in 1989, RoboVent was purchased by Swedish air filtration giant Nederman last year for about $40 million, giving the parent company strong footing in the U.S. welding market.
Kreczmer said RoboVent is well-positioned to capitalize on the industry’s electric vehicle transition as companies build new factories and retool existing plants.
“I like the battery segment because that does give us a little bit of diversification outside of welding,” he said.

We’re approaching day 50 of the Stuart/Just Eat strike now. We have had to shift our targets, as it was difficult to sustain a boycott of McDonalds - now we strike Greggs and all takeaways in the Woodseats area of Sheffield during lunchtimes. Stuart has given serious concessions: a new insurance system, reintroduction of paid waiting times, and a permanent 1.2 multiplier on during lunchtimes - introduced in order to undermine the strike. Strikes have restarted in Chesterfield now, and Middlesborough have joined as well.
A hard core of activist drivers have emerged who have the guts to take guerrilla actions against the fast food companies. By driving their cars into the drive throughs of the restaurants at lunch time and refusing to move, they can seriously disrupt their operations. This Sunday (6th Feb), we hit McDonalds Farm Road and KFC Queens Street.
These guerrilla actions are drawing drivers back who had left us due to the financial impact the strike was having on them, as well as raising morale of the drivers. The main limiter for actions is funds for strike pay. These are workers who have no guaranteed sick pay, minimum wage, holiday pay, and have to bear the costs of the upkeep of their vehicles themselves. After these costs they rarely make the minimum wage. In order to sustain this action we are burning through money and need financial support - please please please donate to the strike fund here.

As the sun peaked through the curtains you let out a low groan and turned over. You pulled up the soft sheets and wished that you could go back to sleep. As you willed yourself to go back to sleep a sinking feeling nagged at the back of your head. In a flash you sat bolt upright and looked around the room.
It was a luxurious room, you couldn’t deny that. Unfortunately it was also one you didn’t recognise. You looked beneath the covers and let out a sigh of relief to see that you were still wearing pyjamas. That was one less thing to worry about but you still didn’t know where you were. You pulled the covers around you as you studied the room. High ceilings, richly decorated and you were lying on a four poster bed. It was clearly an old room and as you shifted towards the edge of the bed you finally saw that there was another person in the room.
Zemo was sitting in a high backed chesterfield chair. He was resting his head in his hands but looked up quickly when you coughed. He looked surprised to see you up before swiftly standing up and marched towards the window. You swung your legs off the mattress and looked at Zemo in a mixture of fear and confusion. Eventually Zemo said,
“I’m sure you’re a wondering where you are.”
“Yes. That would help.”
“You’re safe.”
“Safe,” you snapped, pulled the sheets tighter around you, “Yes, very specific.”
“You weren’t safe there,” Zemo looked over his shoulder but not directly at you, “James and Sam could not protect you.”
“Whereas you can.”
“Correct.”
Awkward silence fell over the two of you as you looked at the floor. Zemo looked back out of the window. You had no idea how you ended up in this situation. Zemo had also been polite to you and you hated to admit that you found his company charming. You spent several nights up together talking about books and secretly enjoying his company. You never expected him to kidnap you.
“I wished that I didn’t have to resort to such drastic measures.”
You jumped at Zemo’s voice. He closed his eyes and rested his head against the glass. You frowned slightly at his words.
“What do you mean?”
Zemo didn’t answer you immediately. Instead he straightened his back and marched towards you. He stood in front of you and studied your face intently. You felt yourself getting hot under his gaze and tried to look away. However, Zemo grasped your chin and forced you to look into his eyes. His thumb brushed against your lips and you swallowed thickly and Zemo’s lips twitched.
“That you would’ve come to me willingly,” he said quietly, “That maybe you might’ve felt something for me.”
“Felt something for you?”
Zemo gave you a sad smile as he bent down. He pressed his forehead against yours and you shuddered as you felt his breath fan against your face. He brushed his nose against yours and said,
“It’s ok. I won’t do anything you don’t want to do. I’ll never force you to do anything.”
“Zemo-“
“You’ll want for nothing,” you could hear a hint of desperation in his voice but he quickly covered it up, “I can provide for you.”
“I know-“
“You’ll be safe and loved and cherished,” he continued, “I do apologise for the manner in which I confessed these feelings but Sam and James never would’ve approved. I-”
“Zemo,” you snapped, “You didn’t have to do this.”
Zemo, who still had his mouth open closed it with a snap. Confusion crossed his face and you reached up and took his hand off of your chin. You laced your fingers together and gave it a slightly squeeze.
“I felt the same,” you said, “Do you really think I would’ve stayed up until the early morning if I didn’t,” you coughed awkwardly, “Have feelings for you?”
Once again you were consumed by the intense gaze of the Baron. You gave him a shy smile before pressing a soft kiss against his knuckles. He gave a low chuckle as he sat down next to you. He wrapped an arm around you and you rested your head against his shoulder.
“I might’ve made a small mistake.” he said more to himself than to you
“It happens to us all,” you said teasingly, “Although I would suggest going back to Sam and Bucky sooner rather than later. If they find us missing for too long they might get angry.”
“Let’s just stay a little longer,” Zemo said, “And enjoy each other’s company without the interruption of Sam and James?”

A little bit lost
I had sudden VampireAU thoughts. One Pumpkin being the vampire because in canonverse Pumpkin has a bat DF. Selfship ahoy watch out.
Tumblr media
Eustass Kid had no idea how he ended up in this deep forest. The townsfolk had been pretty unwelcoming of him and his group. Apparently they didn’t like adventurers in this neck of the woods. “Fuck.” Kid growled as he pushed a low hanging branch out his way only to jostle the tree too much which deposited all the rain acclimating on it’s bountiful leaves on his already soaking frame. Sure his temper wasn’t the best most days but these villagers where so damn rude, they were only passing through and he stormed off and now he was lost in this infernal forest.
The heavens had opened up not long after he left the village and even the tall trees couldn’t shelter him. Thunder rumbled overhead and the rain grew heavier. Kid took a deep breath and cursed loudly carrying on forward, amidst the growing darkness and heavy rain he could barely see his hand in front of his face. Marching ever forward. Kid’s boot got caught on an upturned root, sending him stumbling forward and out of the forest falling to his knees before a huge elaborate iron fence which sounded a lone manor house.
Pushing himself up and pulling the gate open, it squeaked dreadfully as it opened. “What is it with rich folks not oiling shit.” he grumbled, heading towards the house. ‘This is the sort of place they’ll have me arrested for trespassing.’ Lighting illuminated the skies and the rain grew louder. “Not much choice.” he huffed, knocking once loudly and reached for the handle which clicked softly ‘It’s open?’
The house was welcomingly warm and dimly lit. The sound of the rain felt like it was far behind him now. Kid shivered, he suddenly realised how cold he was.
“You seem to be a little bit lost traveller.'' The sudden voice made him jump as lighting flashed outside, casting a brief brightness in the lobby. A small figure stood on the staircase to his left, holding an oil lantern. As they grew closer, he got a better look at her. The dress she wore had huge puffed shoulders, the sleeves and collar were black and the majority of it was white with black roses embroidered in it.
Her hair was a bright orange like the flame of the lantern in her hand. “You look cold. Come warm yourself by the fire and I shall fetch you some dry clothes and something to eat.” she smiled, gesturing for him to follow. Kid was speechless, he hadn’t heard her come down the stairs and in such a gown he would have surely heard the rustle of the fabric. “Are you alright?” she asked when he didn’t move from the doorway. Nodding slowly he followed, he couldn’t find his words which was very unlike him.
The living area was lavishly decorated and the log fire was casting soft warm glows and a welcoming heat. “You’re quite a way from the town.” she stated, offering Kid the fancy chesterfield by the fire.
“A bit lost.” he mumbled, quickly removing his sopping wet shirt, letting it land with a slorp by his feet. Shit.. he had forgotten his company and cast his eyes to the side. Her face was glowing, is that just the fire… her eyes darted around nervously. Kid found his confidence again, leaning on the mantle of the fireplace and flashed her a playful smirk “what’s wrong princess?” she jolted and her eyes washed over his bare chest shyly.
“I..I will.. You must be cold! Let me get you that change of clothes.” she whirled around quickly and hurried out of the room. Kid pouted and kicked his boots off, they were heavily caked in mud and he was suddenly aware of the mess he had dragged in with him. Whoever owned this place would have his head in the morning. When his host reappeared with clothes and a towel for him he managed to breach the topic “You ain’t going to turn me in in the morning?” he wiped the linger wet from his skin with the weirdly soft towel. He wasn’t used to such luxuries.
“Turn you in?” she asked with a tilt of her head “to who? For what?”
“Your parents? I mean...letting a stray in your home-” she laughed at him,
“I live here alone.” she smiled warmly, “There is some soup warming. You must be hungry.” Kid’s stomach replied loudly which spurred another laugh from her “I shall take that as a yes. You can stay the night, there is plenty of space and it’s been some time since I’ve had a guest, especially such a handsome one.” she added and once again left him alone in the room. Kid suddenly felt very warm. As he changed into the nice clean and dry clothes, finally sitting in the arm chair, he couldn’t help but think about his situation. The main question he kept thinking
Why does she live in this huge mansion alone? She didn’t mention servants or anything...and for one person to look after such a big place.. “Whose clothes am I wearing?” he thought out loud. His thoughts were ushered away when she came back with a little trolley ladened with food. “Eat and rest. I can show the way back to the village when the storm clears.” she added, sitting in the chair opposite him cradling a mug in her hands.
“You ain’t eating?” he asked, taking the bowl from the trolley.
“I already ate.” she replied, Kid watched her gracefully sip her tea and she made very little noise. Kid started to wonder if she was really here and this was all a sick dream made by his head. “I’ll answer your questions after you’ve eaten.” she stated, as if she could read his thoughts.
Kid ate his food loudly, slurping, vocalising his enjoyment in loud ‘Mmm’
Occasionally he glanced up, she said quietly in her chair with her tea cup the fire casting an eerie glow on her, it made her look very pale. Strange as she was, he didn’t feel like he was in any danger. Once his belly was full and content, his eyes betrayed him growing heavy.
“You must be tired. Come.” she held out a hand for him to take and he complied like an unseen force was guiding him. She’s cold..
She led him up the stairs and down a long corridor before pushing open a door. Entering first she lit the lamps for him.
Kid’s jaw dropped, the room was not fit for a rough and tumble adventurer like him “you’re letting me stay in here? Ain’t scared i’m going to break or steal something?” he asked, still bewildered. Was she that naive or just very trusting?
“What kind of host would I be if I can’t offer my guests somewhere comfortable to sleep?” she smiled, turning down the huge four poster bed for him “Sleep well.” she said, returning to the door “Goodnight, Kid.” he saw a flash of something else in her green eyes as she walked past him. Kid scratched his head and sat down on the bed only to be almost engulfed by the extremely soft mattress.
“People sleep like this?” Kid gawped and clambered into the bed, resting a hand behind his head he stared up at the ceiling. “Wait..did I tell her my name?”
