Mr.e still has my favorite character design even after all these years, so here have a small Mr.E drawing

So I have no idea why this came to mind, but this is what I had in mind if I wanted to tackle Zane post s11 and during s12 if I rewrote Prime Empire- my AU n shit ig?? Dunno, im rambling.

Imagine a Zane post Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu where he was struggling to really figure out his identity after his time spent as the Ice Emporer.. before the events of Prime Empire and during..

It begins with him being unable to sleep; of him being hyper aware of how the temperature drops slightly below the normal and the sun departs to allow the moon to take its place above Ninjago with its pale blue/white light. He gets flashbacks to the blizzards every time he sees a night cloud cover the orb of light.

His breathing quickens, and he feels alone again. Even with his family nearby sleeping soundly. Of his other half who's silently standing behind him with concern in her gaze because she can't understand.

He gets flashbacks to the screams, the roars and shrieks he created when he attacked the Yeti's at the peaks every time he's taken to Jamanakai for a quick shopping trip. The crunch of snow below his feet causes him to flinch as if he's been struck. His hands clench, and because of him being upset, the temperature drops, which causes him to spiral without Pixal to reign him in.

He can't visit Jamanaki anymore.

He can't look at Lloyd longer than a minute before hurting inside at how there's frostburn imprints on his brothers throat, shoulders, and chest. Lloyd tries every day to approach him and explain that it wasn't his fault - trying to tell him that it wasn't his fault, but Zane shuts him out because of how Vex would coercer him into comitting unspeakable thanks against the peoples of the Never Realm. Whispering, offering reassurances, and pointing out possible threats to the Ice Emporer- HIM.

He can't train at all, with his brothers or his sisters. He can't bear to train with Pixal either. Worried that he'll get lost in the violence that was himself in the Never Realm.

Not even Wu can break through to him.

Snow has remained dormant within, every time he considers summoning his companion - his familiar.. he can't help but see the ghost of Boreal whenever his spirit flies. The other animals belonging to the Ninja miss their winged friend, too, but can't do anything to help.

Zane's just stuck in this constant loop of uncertainty of what to trust, WHO to trust. Because he doesn't trust himself, and Pixal can only do so much to provide comfort.

So imagine his sheer panic of if Unagami had reached out somehow - someway and had dragged Zane into Prime Empire?

Imagine the fear of seeing Mr. E- his BROTHER. Echo Zane, part of the group assigned to hunt him down as an avatar of the real thing because Unagami can access his memories. His deepest fears. His worst enemies. His younger brother being one of them because Echo Zane, too, had been built to protect.. yet turned his back on it because of fate and Dr. Juliens deteriorating memory, and because.. of Zane himself unintentionally.

Zane was afraid of his younger brother. He followed orders to a T- he fought with the intent to kill. He was friends with Harumi.

Zane was afraid of becoming like the violent side of Echo Zane.

On the other side of the spectrum- he would encounter avatar! Cryptor, a Nindroid, just like himself, but in every way his opposite, too. Whereas Zane was human, Cryptor accepted that he was a machine. He taunted Zane for his age, for his ability to sympathize with beings that could die. His inability to be WEAK. Perfect in comparison to Zane's broken state. In his view- Zane saw Cryptor as somebody who knew what they were.

Finally decided to post something here, and what's better then Echo/Mr.E? First one is before my girlfriend tips and second after. I hate colors with passion but i want to (and need to) use them so bad.

If this account don't help me draw more ninjago and using colors... i'm doomed. As person who is picky about anything they draw i can't stop looking at this nose fheuyrnv4t y7ntveu IT'S TOO GOOD FOR ME.

Propablly next thing i will draw will be my second wife Pixal whom i find expecially hard to draw, or little zangst comic from the Dragon Rising (give my boy proper treatment and stop using him as freaky walking wikipedia!!!).

So i don't know how long ago this was but i thought up some lore with my friend about IP!Zanes markings. If you've been keeping up with my AU you'll know that IP!Zane was made by Dr.Julien who is an Oni here.

I hc(or maybe it's canon? Idk) that all Oni are born with their own unique markings that make them more recognisable from one another. I believe that Dr.Julien or Oni Julien would apply this logic when building his son, hence IPZ's face(and body markings)

Heres a drawing i did of them around the time i thought of the lore!

Anyway, back to my previous point- what would this change entail for Echo Zane?

Would Oni Julien, in his desperate attempt to escape from his returning loneliness rebuild Echo and give him the same markings IPZ has? Would he be unable to build up that courage? Or maybe, he makes Echo and initially does give him the same markings, but can't follow through and removes them before he activates him? (Or less likely, he just doesn't have the materials, lol)

Whatever the case, i feel like after Julien introduces him to Zane in s2(ik thats not canon, but thats why this is an au! So we can pretend Julien didn't abandon his son in favour of the other one :] <-100% still salty ) and they get back to Ninjago, Echo finally starts to learn more about who he is. Along the way, he decides he wants to choose markings for himself, but realises he wouldnt like anything permanent just yet.

So what does Echo do? He gives himself temporary ones he can change at any time until he does or doesn't decide on a pattern!

Fun fact, way before Dragons rising was an idea, I had a little theory/AU thingie, where the ninja got sent to another realm, where time passed differently. (How funny, it was way before SotFS...) So basically these kids formed a replacement ninja team to fight the evils treathening ninjago, discovering they themselves are elemental masters. And that's been in my brain, slowly adding all the new kiddos to it. Might make some art, and a post about that too, because I would love to draw them.

Here's my spitballing on these dummies and their designs.

The Darkleys kids!

The little shits. They would be the ones to have kidnapping as their first resolve.

- I kinda didn't know Sally existed, but I liked all the art, so she does now. Also, she loves pink, I love pink, we all love pink

- Brad is definitely the muscle of the group, with a big heart, but not the greatest mind. Also, he has a babyface, that's very hard to make look evil.

- His design kinda grew on me with time, but it still feels a bit lacking...

- There's this theory that Gene is Skylor's brother, and Chen's son, that I kinda absorbed into my brain and ran with it so yeah.

-Also, the hand thingie is not a glove, it helps hold his hand together after a nasty injury :)

- The bowlcut was uniform at Darkleys, but Gene was such a nightmare they just gave up with him.

- They have matching pins and earpieces. Cause of course they do. Also, dumbo boots uniform.

The Paperkids!

Antonia and Nelson are a given, and I just kinda added Unagami on there, since he waved at them once. Also, I think it would be cute if they were friends.

- I know he doesn't anymore, canonically, but I like to think he still wears his purple gi under the jumper. Who knows when someone will need the purple ninja?

- He has a scar from the injury he had when he met with the ninja. Also, am I the only one who tought something much worse was going on than a broken leg? Obviously a kid show can't have a terminally ill kid, but fsm that's still how I remembered it.

- Antonia! I loved drawing her hair. Also kinda like her badass big sis vibes.

- She has her hands out to make sure the two kids, but mainly Nelson, don't go missing somehow (happens more often than you think)

- Even if he can shapeshift, I like to tjink Unagami keeps his line-marks in whatever forms, since it's apart of his skin. He can hide them, but it takes effort, so he just doesn't bother.

- He can change his form generally, but you could still tell it's him by the lines, eyes, and hair

- He has a little nick in his eyebrow, and so does (did i guess) Jay. I just think that's a cute detail

The Forgotten ones...

Just called that cause I had to add them on a separate canvas after forgetting them. I forgot Skales Jr, shame on me, I tought Jake and Nelson were one character, and I was still debating Echo. But here they are!

- It was surprisingly not that hard to draw him, even tho I was very scared

- Since he has white on him, I was trying (and failing miserably) to replicate those partially albino reptiles. Also added some pink scales, since he is also Selma's son, who's pink.

- I don't know to this day why Echo was introduced only to be left behind.... Nevertheless he's a sweetheart

- I guess if you count Mr.E, but then he would be dead... Unless the kids fix him (lightbulb moment)

- Also, ahy is his head weirdly tiny? How did that happen?

- Jake. Goddamnit, how were you the hardest to draw? Somehow I couldn't get the head right...

- The giant pants is an idea that lived in my head. I like yo think he would be able to fix ancient artifacts with hairties, ductape, and sheer force of will.

- He might have a bowlcut, but cmon, are you telling me he wouldn't at least try to replicate whatever the hell Kai's hair was in the beginning?

Sons of Garmadon, Echo Zane's PoV

Fire burned around them as smoke filled the corridors of the Jade Palace, but he wasn't deterred. If anything this was *fun.*

She' made this too easy for them.

Speeding to the Mask of Deception, his cheers and exhilaration came to a grinding halt when he saw who was defending the Mask of Deception.

It was one of *them.* The other one who forgot about him.

Cart wheeling off of his bike as it dragged against the floor, he momentarily blocked off the arrival point of the Earth Ninja, advancing towards his targets.

That voice was still the same as ever. "Whoever you are, you should've brought more help!" Walking forwards, he came to a stop as he regarded Jay, itching to bury his swords into the blue clothed traitor.

The deterent hadn't been enough for the earth Ninja, who simply hopped on and over his motorcycle. Smart one it seemed, despite his burly nature.

Two sets of footsteps stamped against the floor to his left, and Echo half mindedly looked over before his attention caught on to the second of the two- refraining from clenching his hands.

"Hand's in the air!" The fire fools orders fell on deaf ears as his core warmed in hatred.

He eyes narrowed on the second of the traitors, watching the spearwoman level her blade at him, her brother clashing his swords together in a foolish display.

As they surrounded him, Echo looked to the water and lightning Ninja, focused on those two alone. How ironic that Jay said he needed more help.

Smiling to himself, Echo unclasped the Mask of Venegance from his hip, holding it infront of the traitor, the teenagers eyes widening.

He knew that the blabbering fool wouldn't be able to hear him anyway.

"Your wish, is yours to keep." He grinned, pressing his visor against the mask.

He then felt fury.

Another Harumi plot post because I’m so sad she gets portrayed in a psychopath/ heartless light.

TW: Mentions of Pedophilia and intense trauma.

An essay:

Harumi is not a psychopath! Or a sociopath or a sadistic person fueled by genetic villainy and violence.

Harumi is actually a traumatized kid who’s found a way to cope with her trauma by trying to stop the carnage that faces Ninjago almost yearly. Her stated goal for SOG was to bring Garmadon back because he stopped the devourer. She didn’t wanna bring back a horrible person that would cause carnage and destruction, she wanted to bring back a protector who she saw as been more capable than the ninja.

She traumatizes Lloyd, yes, that’s obvious. Yet only because she sees him as being a narcissistic, ego child who doesn’t deserve to be seen as the grand protector that he’s portrayed as. Remember in her journal she states that she saw Lloyd, terrified, during the assault by the devourer. She idolized him incredibly before this, but after seeing him cower just like her she began to think that the ninja only portrayed themselves as being grand protectors, while actually taking credit for what others do.

She was stuck in a Palace for years! From S2-S8 she was trapped in the grand palace. She never saw the ninja defeat the Overlord, or Chen, or Morro, etc. As well, put yourself in Harumi’s shoes; if you only ever heard that your personal enemies are actually hero’s but never saw their heroics in action besides the time their incompetence killed your parents would you believe that they were actually being hero’s?

She hates the ninja and especially Lloyd. She had a Lloyd action figure that was either homemade or bought, both things that require money that a working class family doesn’t have, Lloyd was her favorite! And she saw him fail to save her parents!! It would be the same feeling as a favorite actor or YouTuber turning out to be a content thief or pedophile.

After brining back Garmadon she slowly became shocked and frightened by his ruthlessness and fear tactics. You can see her shock when Garmadon rips apart Mr.E in front of her. She didn’t think she would bring back a cold blooded killer and she never wanted to. She wanted to bring back the hero she remembered saving the city

She shows her true colors when the apartment building she’s in starts to collapse. A sea of traumatic memories would be going through her head in that moment as this is just like the day her parents died. She could’ve chosen to run down the stairs to save herself but she decided to help a family who could’ve been separated, instead of saving herself.

She only revived herself after death because the overlord promised her that he could be the protector that Garmadon failed to be. Her catered to her desire to help Ninjago like any manipulative person would’ve. He didn’t promise her self serving power or the opportunity to kill the ninja, he promised her the opportunity to be a savior again.

So I really don’t understand why people say she’s a psychopath dead set on hurting Lloyd. She’s traumatized, with good reason to be, but unlike a psychopath she realizes that when she’s doing something wrong she changes her ways. When she sees that Lloyd is a good person who only wants to help she realizes she still has feelings for him as he’s the protector that she’s always wanted Ninjago to have. When she sees that the Overlord is a force of evil that caused the death of her parents she defects and helps Lloyd and Garmadon finish him.

Harumi isn’t a villain for villains sake, or for revenge sake. She’s an anti-hero, who was misled and manipulated into fighting for the bad guys.

TLDR: Harumi is incredibly traumatized, saw the ninja fail, never got to see the Ninja be the good guys, and only saw Garmadon actually be heroic. She states blatantly that she wants to stop the yearly destruction Ninjago faces. She also shows herself to be empathetic, and heroic, saving the family in the apartments from being crushed like hers were. She only fights for a villain when they promise her, or she believes, that they’ll make Ninjago a better place.
