I absolutely LOVE this story. It’s definitely a bit more AU than you normally see in this kind of story-Kurt isn’t even from Ohio and his brother’s name is Logan, but no matter. So, so good.

She’s done it again. Beautiful story. I automatically loved Kurt and grew to love Blaine so much.

It has the writing style that is really MrsCriss2012 and the classic trope of age gap fics she uses in most of her stories.

I felt myself smiling throughout the fic.

I love stories that have a happy and fluffy feel within the relationship and an angsty backdrop and that’s exactly what this fic has.

My Review: This author is a fan favorite and it's obvious why. Her stories are well-planned, engaging, and well-written. I honestly loved the premise of Blainebeinga a theater critic, and of course, he couldn't keep his eyes off of Kurt. None of us can honey, or we wouldn't be on this ship. Anyway, I have to say that I love this story for too many reasons to list. So I won't even attempt to try. Maybe you can just dive in and see for yourself. Don't blame me though if you get sucked into the rabbit hole of this author's amazing collection of stories.

I read here on your site that she has not stopped writing and will have more time in 2022, but as far as I know she has no new fics since 2020.

"I’m ok just busy! Single parent of 3 teenagers just means I’m working super hard to provide for them. My eldest starts college soon as well. 

I have at least 2 fics that are in progress. I would love to complete them, it’s just time. I’m working as a fitness journalist and a female strength coach. I have very little free time and try to devote that to my family.

H: How would you describe your style?

I like to think I write like a rom com. I'm all for drama but lean heavy into the fluff/heart and I also like to think I have witty/cleaver dialogue (all aspects I find in good rom coms) :)

J: Write or describe an alternative ending to Roadie.

Hmmmm this is a tough question! The actual ending of Roadie is a little on cliché side if I'm being honest with myself but the only other option is for them to not end up together. I could say I could have had Blaine realize it's not worth risking his career over (or the hassle of having to deal with the press) and they'd go their separate ways. Or I could have Kurt realize he wants to chase his own dreams and leave the tour (and Blaine). But I don't like any of those endings lol Sorry...I'm bad at this alternate ending stuff :P

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

Missbeizy - she writes (or at least wrote) the best smut in my opinion.

Yadiva (@yadivagirl) - her fics hurt SO. GOOD. They're like pressing on a bruise just to get that zing of sensation. They're like a guilty pleasure that I'm not at all guilty to admit I love.

MrsCriss2012 - no longer in fandom (and I feel like there was some controversy but I never really paid attention) but her fics really made me FEEL. They also hurt so good but in a different way than Yadiva's. She was really good at the angst with a happy ending that actually felt 'deserved'.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

About a million. I am CONSTANTLY revising. I read and reread all of my stuff ad nauseam (even after I post it) just to find mistakes or things to change. I find if I leave a chapter or fic unfinished and then come back to it (even just a day later) I need to read the whole thing or at least most of it in order to keep writing. So much revising.

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

I don't really feel guilty for anything I like but I guess my love of D/s is my guilty pleasure? I don't write it really but man do I love reading it. Sometimes the darker/kinkier the better (hence why I love @yadivagirl's stuff). I also love reading hurt Blaine fics (physically hurt more than mentally hurt). I wouldn't say I really have any guilty pleasures when it comes to writing.

A: How did you come up with the title to [insert fic]?

I love telling this story so thanks for asking! :) I listen to music when I write (and do most things) but I never really pay attention to the songs themselves while I write. However while writing Like You Wanna Be Loved, I became obsessed with listening to Ed Sheeran's song Kiss Me and would play it on repeat. Not only did it set the tone for the whole fic but the lyrics 'I'm falling for your eyes but they don't know me yet' was sort of the theme for the whole fic. So I knew I wanted a line from that song as the title and settled on Like You Wanna Be Loved from the chorus <3

I Won’t let you down - 2.5/5. Gave me whiplash with how much they dated then broke up. But good story and I finished it. I love the Blaine/Burt relationship though.

Twisted fate - 4.5/5. Almost perfect, just missing the thing that makes a story a 5/5.

Loving you is easy - 3.5/5. There is a long running annoying argument in the fic but otherwise great.

Serenade my heart - 5/5. Amazing. So glad I read this fic. It had all the things I love and had an unexpected storyline.

Damaged hearts can heal - 3/5. A bit confusing to follow and the age gap is a little big for me (15 years) but young Kurt really holds his own. You wouldn’t think he’s younger when you are into the story.

Light up the sky - 3.5/5. Good. Blind younger Blaine meets Kurt on 4th of July. Not a fan of the age gap but I love the Klaine relationship if you ignore that.

One night in Vegas - 4.5/5. Blaine is an idiot but they have such an innocent love and relationship. Blaine reminds me of myself too much.

Come what may - 3/5. A reconciliation fic AU post 4x14. It’s very cute but not super memorable.

A fine line between us - 4.8/5. Another age gap fic. But I loved the banter between Kurt and Blaine and the relationship. I docked 0.2 points for the huge age gap (20 years) and how awful Blaine was at the start (get through chapter 3 and you’re in for a treat).

I started ‘Make you feel my love’ but I found out I really couldn’t do a teacher/student relationship (even though it was definitely good).

Wake me up inside is on my too-read list.

My Review: I followed this story as it was updated, and it was one of those stories that drew me to my email inbox, waiting excitedly for the notification that it had been updated. What drew me to it? There are several things that made me immediately click on the chapter notification.

First and foremost, I loved Daddy Kurt, even though I was frustrated with him at first. I won't explain why, because I don't want to give anything away, but the issue is resolved through time and an outright callout from Blaine. Kurt is a strong, loving, flawed man that becomes the ward of three young kids. He's clearly out of his element and over his head, which makes him even more loveable than he already was.

I can't bring up Kurt and not mention the reasons I love the author's depictions of Blaine. She captures his canon characteristics, such as his tendency to go out of his way to help others and his beautiful kind nature. Even though he initially thinks that he's straight, when he starts to realize that he isn't (sorry spoiler), he doesn't try to run from it. Instead, he embraces his emotions for Kurt, even though he does need time to figure things out.

I love the other characters in this story, from the OC's (like Blaine's amazing parents) to the beloved canon characters (Cooper, especially). I specifically wanted to give a shoutout to cooper, whose often depicted as a stumbling, bumbling oaf. This couldn't be further from the truth here. It makes me wish that he was my older brother.

Oh, the children, Alice, Joshua, and Maggie, are just precious. I have to say that unfortunately, I've stopped reading stories with small children because the children's dialogue drives me crazy. I'll remind you that I'm a mom and a teacher, so inaccurate portrayals of children are a bit of a pet peeve for me. This story doesn't do that. Actually, this story makes me want to be a fly on the wall so I can see them all together. I feel it may be this quality that tugs on my heartstrings as I read. I fell in love with the children just as much as our main characters do.

Ultimately, this is a well-written, beautiful story that balances humor, angst, hurt, and love. Miss Criss2012 is a fandom favorite author, and I can see why. She really knows how to captivate her readers with her incredible story-building style. If you haven't read this, put it on your to-read list right now. It's actually on the ballot of the Fanfiction awards, so it's the perfect time to read this.
