It’s been a whole year…
Unsure how to approach the festivities now, Sun decided to find a quiet spot instead, spending all morning setting things up to participate in his own way. He couldn't not join in, but it just wouldn't be right to go back into the thick of it either.
The not-too-far-off town square, only a mile below his expanse of cloud, is alive in the lieu of celebration. The live orchestra plays the same casual songs, their passion dying the expanse of clouds they rest upon pink with their infectious energy, and the music drifts up clear as day to his ears despite the distance. The community brightens at each strum of a chord, chatter so lively that they create lyrics to their own song. They all are so alight that even once the sun sets, not even a single candle will be necessary to keep the festival bathed in a warm glow.
Sun sighed as he looked towards his namesake, feeling both relief and dread seeing it only moved a little since he last checked, located slightly past the center of the sky above him. Any moment now the square should clear its center and engage in its Hearthwarming Dance.
A spark crackles in his chest, sending longing pangs to his heart and head. It swirls through the burning magma and dips through every ligament, the tips of his fingers and toes buzzing with the itch to do something.
He turns to his partner, waiting for the first note of the new song to swell before grabbing their soft hand and whispering,
“May I have this dance?”
Without his usual banter, Sun embraces them and sways to the familiar beat without hesitation.
Upon closing his eyes, he is suddenly not dancing on a patchy field of clouds, but rather upon a lively opal plaza shimmering in the warm sunlight; the polished stone reflecting all those lovely pink clouds to create a mosaic, speckled with a rainbow of beautiful color.
Yet, the way you shined changed everything. It had completely ruined his view of beauty.
Your smile glistened through the sheer cloud of stardust that orbits around your form. Your eyes were as hypnotic as the ring of light you absorb, blindingly white before turning into a pitch black that's impossible for him to comprehend. He could barely even remember what you wore that day, too busy memorizing your face.
You were a star that had gone supernova, a rarity unseen for the last 3 centuries, let alone for a star of your kind.
Even the thought of your imagery causes him to inhale sharply. He clutches at his partner tightly, mindless of the give as he steps around in a traditional dance.
You were so scared when the change happened all those months ago...
Sun had found you holed up in your dark room, begging him to not look at you. He had initially come over to barge down your door for being an hour late to meet him, only to find your home was unlocked. It wasn't too unusual, so he welcomed himself inside, used to doing so after years of friendship.
His bitterness over how you kept him waiting for so long evaporated at finding your tearful state, almost unrecognizable if it weren't for your usual wear and voice.
He's still ashamed to say that he was enraptured by you despite the state you were in.
You were a glimmering dwarf star before, enchanting enough as is, and yet somehow you turned into something even more bewitching, compounding his years of desire into something even stronger. It felt right. Not to see you sad, but to see you in that form. Everything about it felt like you. The pull was indescribable in every step he took, the very essence of you invading his senses.
As soon as he recounts reassuring you, drying your tears, and pulling you into a hug; he snaps back to having you in his arms in the light of day, grasping his right hand and prancing with ease across the square, expertly avoiding other participants.
The magnetic pull is intense, the need to somehow get closer and closer was nearly impossible to ignore. He wanted to run away from such a force, yet he only clutched your hand tighter as he spun you, pulling your back into his chest and locking you there for a beat too long.
He was so afraid that you could read his every move, regardless of knowing your sheer obliviousness to his desires.
You always playfully indulged his yearly insistence of being your dance partner, yet nothing had come of it from either side. But this time, his gaze was constantly locked with yours, unable to break contact. His possessive grip had ensnared you, barely leaving even an inch between you. He couldn't help but pause, disregarding the mass of bodies moving around him, wanting to hold you forever.
How could it not be obvious?
Regardless, he knew it was inevitable he'd spill out his soul to you soon, barely able to restrain his lips from colliding into yours at that very moment.
He hoped, he prayed, he begged like a mantra to the celestial mother that you'd feel the same. That this magnetism isn't so one sided. That restraint would one day be unnecessary and he'd finally be able to drink in the flavor of your kiss.
Only mere seconds had passed when he released you from his hold, continuing the dance as if nothing happened. Perhaps to you, nothing did happen.
Would that explain what had happened?
He spent that whole day with you, following you to vendors with traditional carbon foods and indulging in your proximity as you'd graze hands and bump shoulders on occasion, finally left comfortably alone as the town's people were accustomed to your new appearance by then.
He was more than happy to scoop you up the moment you said you were getting tired and overwhelmed. You insisted that you didn't want the fun to end, but he could tell by the sound of your voice that you at least needed a change of pace.
The sun was setting when he leapt up stray puffs of clouds to the field above the plaza. He pranced in circles, leaping gaps to the dying beats of music, and teasing about dropping you through them when you didn't believe he could cross. Your rivers of laughter only fueled his audacity, as he never wanted to hear them end. Inevitably, his foot barely slipped off the edge of one of his more daring jumps, causing the two of you to fall forward and collide with the cloud beneath you.
Despite the grunt the two of you made at the impact, you were quick to laugh at Sun’s failure, teasing him about his cockiness biting him in the behind.
But Sun couldn't ignore the press of his body on top of yours, the echoing melody of your voice ensnaring his throat, refusing to allow him to even draw breath, let alone words. His mind fogged over, the only reprieve to his pinning troubles all pointed towards you, and he desperately needed that relief.
Your lips were more delicious than he could have ever dreamed of, your endearing expression was wide eyed and glowing.
Glowing so much that he actually had to close his eyes for a moment to recuperate, despite how much he wanted to savor your appearance.
And then with a fluttering blink, he's back in the present, kneeling down in the same position over some sad facimally of you. The cloud he molded this morning was mangled already from his delusions, but due to his fall it had melded into the cloud below it, its pink color feeling more taunting than sweet.
Sun looked down at his hand to find a tiny piece of said cloud still in it, a tear welling up in his eye.
It was too fitting.
In that original moment, it was as if you dissolved right in his arms after that kiss, but he refuses to believe anything bad happened. He searched your home, your favorite places, and even contacted your friends and family. No one knew where you were.
Some believed you to be dead after he finally admitted what happened between the two of you.
He vehemently denied that possibility, despite the plausibility. You were barely older than he was, still spry with centuries of life ahead of you. You couldn't just die from a kiss…
The only spark of hope he was given was when he questioned one of the elder Neutron stars, one of whom recalled personally knowing a singular supernova; one who had been taken suddenly to a world beyond the sky to contain their unstable make up. They had returned only once to explain their departure, before saying goodbye for their next one shortly after.
Sun brought the small puff of cloud to his lips – it should have been your hand.
He couldn't repress the tear that escaped him.
It's been a year since your disappearance. He still hasn't given up on his star-crossed lover, if he may even call you that. Your sudden departure left him wanting, stagnant, unsure of so many things.
If you reciprocated, wouldn't you have come back to him by now..?
Overtime, many have caught onto his depressed demeanor and advised him that it's best to learn to let go.
Preaching that waiting is fruitless.
Denouncing the Neutron’s tall tale of some magical plain snatching you away.
Scolding Sun for ruining his life over some runaway star.
However, he cannot help it; you own all the hope he has left. As he is unfortunately, completely, woefully in love with you.

❄️❄️Midnight's DCA December Day 27❄️❄️
Once again, Pom, your brain is massive, this was a LOT of fun, i saw the words 'magic' and 'fae elements' and the pot started boiling over ashjadk, anywho, please enjoy!
Prompt: second request >:3c (but no pressure!!) I havent read all the other folks yet to see if there was a Polar Express/Train ride type oneshot. I feel like train conductor/surrealism vibes would be a delight, with holiday magic and spritely, fae elements sprinkled in. Maybe getting lost on to the destination--or the train getting stopped due to a snowstorm. (Very Nana, if you watched that anime haha) Perhaps, yn is in clear emotional distress bc of smth happening interpersonally leading up. Texting, phones, drama. Do they even want to go home…? … (Will they go back home? >:)) mweheh.)
Word Count: 2811
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
The train whistle blares loudly outside, starting to roll down the tracks. You watch out the window as the station begins to fade away, sighing as snow hits the pane every so often. You check you phone again when it buzzes, another message to add to the pile. Another half-hearted apology you're guessing.
You're about to look in detail when you stop, cursing yourself and shaking your head. You got on this train for that exact reason, to avoid having to speak to them. You weren't going to give in, you just, needed a break. To go somewhere, anywhere really.
Your ticket was for home, and the idea of being back in your apartment sounds better and better by the moment. You sink back in the seat again, already liking the sound of being back in your own bed with your own food and your own life. You never should have come here, should've listened to your friends, they'd been right all along.
You feel a headache coming on, either from the stress, or the exhaustion of crying so much. Or even, the nagging of your friends as they brag and say they told you so. Which, they did, but you didn't need to hear it again. At least you had a day or so. The trip back was long, requiring you to get a sleeper car, where most of your belongings resided currently, save for the book sitting beside you, along with your sketchbook.
You'd been wanting to do a bit of reading, or drawing, anything to take your mind off things, but after receiving that text you just didn't have the heart for it.
"Everything alright over here, friend?"
You glance up, seeing a well-dressed man standing to your right. He was tall, blond, and wore a sun-themed mask over his eyes, which are also covered with a white shade. His smile is warm, kind.
You straighten up a bit, feeling self-conscious all the sudden. "Oh, yeah. Just fine. Sorry, do you need my ticket?"
"Yes please!"
You hand it over to him, and he punches it, promptly handing it back to you. "There you go! Is there anything else I can get for you? Perhaps a snack, or a drink?"
"No, I'm good, but thank you... Sorry, what's your name?"
The man bows slightly. "You may call me Sun. And you, friend?"
"Oh, my friends call me Nick/N." You smile.
Sun tilts his head, his smile seems, strained for a moment. Then—"Welcome aboard, then, Nick/N. We hope you enjoy the ride!" For good measure, he takes your hand, pressing his lips to the back of it for a moment before releasing you.
"T-thanks." You say, watching as he walks off, going over to where the other conductor stands.
You take note that he's wearing a moon mask, with red covering his eyes instead. They exchanged a few hushed words with each other, and when they look over to you, you avert your gaze again.
You didn't pay attention when you booked this train, just got on the first one you could, you wonder if it's themed in some way. It would make sense anyway, why else for the masks?
As you settle in for your ride, the conductors come by multiple times each to check on you. During this you find out the other is named 'Moon', which, pretty on the nose you'd say, but you have to guess it's all part of the act.
Regardless, you find them to be friendly, very chatty, almost too much so. They're constantly offering you something to eat or drink, and if you hadn't brought snacks you'd take them up on the offer. Even then, they try encouraging you to pick something from the train's menu.
"Surely you deserve something better than that, crumbling thing, Sunshine."
"Or something sweet to wash it down, maybe a glass of wine?"
You take another bite of your granola bar. "Nah, this is good enough for now. And I'm not much of a day drinker." You unscrew your water bottle lid, taking a sip. "Appreciate it though!"
"If you change your mind, simply let us know, Starlight."
That was another thing, the nicknames. At first, they used yours that you'd given, almost constantly addressing you in conversation. It was like they were waiting for something to happen. But when it didn't they'd switched to the celestial-themed ones instead.
It was all so, incredibly, interesting.
In the evening, you're sketching in your seat when your phone goes off again. You frown upon hearing it, looking out the window momentarily. It's dark, but you can make out that it's snowing incredibly hard now. You're surprised the train is still able to get through all this—
"What are you drawing, Sunbeam?"
You jump, finding the two of them are across from you. Sun leans over the back of the opposite seat, elbows resting on the top edge, while Moon lounges across the seat itself.
You feel embarrassed now. "Oh, nothing important." You don't want to admit that you're drawing them, that would be utterly humiliating.
You couldn't help it, despite their, overtly friendly behavior—to the point you'd grown slightly suspicious—you found the two to be alarmingly charming despite it all. There was an air about them that was enticing, drawing you in and making you ever curious.
Moon tsks. "Now, now. Don't leave us in suspense. I'm sure anything you create would be lovely."
"It's true, though maybe not as lovely as them, wouldn't you say?" Sun rests his head in his hand, small smirk on his lips.
Moon nods, waving his hand. "Not even a question, of course."
Your ears are burning at this point. And, compelled by their outward flirting you hold out your sketchbook, head ducked to maybe hide some of your awkwardness.
"Just take it already." You mumble. "And go easy on me, please. It's been awhile..."
Eager hands snatch up your book, and they bicker over who gets to hold it. You giggle at the exchange, and they finally settle on each holding one side as they flip through.
As they go, Sun whistles, and Moon hums in agreement, it only serves to fluster you more.
"You made all of these?" Moon asks.
You laugh. "Well yeah, most of those are from months ago. They're, okay, I guess."
"Okay? You have talent, Starshine!" Sun states, waving his hand to the page. "I've never seen a hu-anyone create like this. It's impressive."
You have to cover up your face then, it's on fire. "Please, stop. They're really not—"
"And you drew us?" Sun exclaims.
"They drew me better looking."
Sun huffs. "No, look how they got my jaw perfect!"
They delve into arguing again about who is sketched better and you just about can't take it anymore when your phone starts ringing.
All three of you snap your attention to the device.
When you see the caller ID, your heart fills with dread.
Instead of curling up from being flustered, you curl up with fear, groaning. "Why can't they take a hint..."
As the phone continues to ring, you get ready to pick it up from the seat, either to answer or to decline the call.
You don't get the chance, as Sun asks you a question. "Friend, is this your signature here?" He's pointing to a page of your sketchbook.
"I, yeah. It is." You don't know why you didn't hesitate with that answer, too stressed to think, currently.
You don't notice the shared look between the two, slight grins on their faces at this information.
Your phone is still ringing, so you finally grab it, debating on what to do.
"Do you want to talk to them?" Moon asks you.
You sigh, then laugh. "God no. Not at all. But..." You trail off, and shake your head. "Maybe I should hear them out. Even if I really don't want to deal with them right now."
Your thumb hovers over the answer button, ready to press it—
"Y/n. Don't answer the phone." Sun's words are firm, but there's still a softness to them, almost remorseful?
You don't know, because one moment your phone is in your hand, the next it's not. You... aren't sure why but, it's probably fine, right?
The rest of the evening proceeds like everything is normal. Neither of them calls you by your name again, sticking to their nicknames. You're not hungry, so you don't eat dinner despite their pestering about it not being good for you. And you retire to your bed after a late night filled with chatting. The two of them must have very little work to do as conductors, if they can spend so much time with a single passenger like you.
Speaking of, was the train always so empty, or had people just slowly been getting off without you noticing? You yawn, and as your head hits the pillow decide that you'll worry about it tomorrow. Besides, you should be home by the end of the morning anyhow.
When you wake up the next day, you notice that there's a distinct lack of movement happening. You must have stopped at a station. You stretch and hop out of bed, deciding that after the day you had yesterday, you deserve to walk around in your pajamas for a bit.
You go over to the dining car, incredibly hungry, and expecting people to be boarding. What you find is an empty car filled with piping hot food and—
"Is that a hot coco bar?" You ask to the open air, starting to salivate at the thought.
However, before you even consider food, you decide you need to figure out what's going on. Walking over to the window, you see that the snow is piled high all around the train, almost up to the window. You must have hit a drift in the night, meaning you're stuck until the can clear the tracks.
Normal people would be concerned about this information. But either because you don't care when you get home—as long as you're not there—or because you've developed a strange lack of care for most time related things, you don't mind in the slightest.
With a shrug, you go over and grab a plate and start piling it high, someone's got to eat it, right?
You also grab a large mug of hot chocolate, adding many marshmallows and tons of whipped cream. You sit down, ready to dig in, when you're spooked as you realize Moon is sitting across from you, chin resting in his hand with a smile.
"Good morning, Starlight. Sleep well?"
You nod. "Yeah. You sure know how to make an entrance, don't you?"
"We pride ourselves on it." Sun says with a chuckle, in the seat behind you, you realize.
Looking up, you see he's in a similar position to Moon, small smirk on his face as he observes you.
"Seems so. While you're both here, what's going on with the train?" You raise a piece of toast to your mouth. "Unless I'm wrong and you two aren't good at your job."
You take a bite, and have to sit up again, eyes wide. The bread is perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of butter. It tastes like heaven.
You're too caught up in taking another bite to catch what Sun says.
"Oh my god. This is the best toast I've ever had in my life." You finish devouring it, wiping your mouth and looking back up to him. "Sorry, can you repeat that?"
Sun chuckles, hands shifting to hold your face. "I said, we're snowed in. It will take some time for the tracks to be cleared. Potentially several days."
"Oh, really?" You reach down blindly for more food, and feel your plate be scooted closer to you. You thank Moon briefly and snatch up a piece of bacon, which also tastes divine. "Bummer."
This seems to surprise the masked man, eyebrows shooting up above the mask's edge. "You're not concerned?"
"Nah. To be honest, I don't have much of a place to go back to. A cold apartment in a shitty building on the wrong side of the city." You finish your bacon, grabbing another piece. "Not to mention how my friends are going to be getting on to me about how they were right and I was wrong and on and on and on and, man this food is delicious, like how do you guys have such a good cook for a train?"
Sun looks away from you, and sitting straight you see Moon's looking to him as well. You however, are too busy indulging your gluttony to care. Every single bite is amazing, like, the best breakfast you've ever had.
You're about to take a drink of your hot coco, when a hand grabs your wrist.
"Wait." Moon states, then sighs.
You raise an eyebrow, waiting.
He looks behind you to Sun, and glancing back you see he's frowning, but nods.
He comes around the seat, and sits across from you with Moon. After removing the coco from your hands, he clasps one of yours in both his own.
"We haven't been truthful with you, Sunshine. At least, I believe that's how your people say it." His grip tightens for a moment before relaxing. "It wasn't by accident that you boarded this train."
You furrow your brow. "Well, yeah, I bought the ticket."
"It wasn't the ticket you were supposed to. We, ensured you would board this train specifically." Moon states, sounding, ashamed.
Sun continues for him. "You see, we're not from your world. We come from somewhere else, somewhere long forgotten to most of your kind. Many of our own like to play tricks on you humans, for entertainment and such. We prefer to help."
"The train is designed to find those in need of it." Moon waves to the rest of the car. "The lost, the lonely, the hurting,"—he glances at you for a moment—"It gives them a place to heal, to learn, to change in some cases. Then, when they're ready, the return home, none the wiser to the time that's past or what's truly occurred."
You notice Sun's cheeks are tinged pink under the mask, up until now you don't think you've seen either of them be so bashful. "Though, we've been, 'keeping tabs' on you for some time. Besides the gloomy aura you had we found you to be—" He bites his cheek, and mutters his next words. "Very attractive."
"Getting you here became a bit of a game for us." Moon admits, also blushing now. "As was getting you to share your name, and eat our food. Most never stay on the train long enough to do so. Or at least, they don't think they do."
Sun finally looks back to you, hands still holding your own. "But we wanted to tell you before you took a drink, as that would, bind you to us. But not to the train! You can leave whenever you like, of course. But, you deserved to know our intentions, regardless of whether you would even consider feeling the same or not."
He releases you finally, folding his now fidgeting hands into his lap.
You take a moment to take everything in, reviewing in your head to make sure you understood everything they've told you.
Once you've determined that yes, this is actually happening, you speak.
"So if I drink this, I'll stay here... forever?" You point down to the cup, still steaming.
"You could still leave whenever you wish, but essentially yes—Oh my stars."
The two can only stare, mouths agape as you chug your hot coco in one go. When your finished you sigh, taking your napkin and dabbing your mouth.
"Man, that hit the spot. I'll be getting more of that later. Anywho,"—you start to dig in to the rest of your plate—"It might take me a bit, but which one of you wants dibs on first kiss? If that's your thing, that is."
"I-"
"Me." Moon blurts.
At this, Sun blusters, and you snicker to yourself as they begin to debate back and forth on the subject. You glance out the window at the snowy landscape, taking in how, enchanted it feels now that you fully understand the situation. It's certainly not what you expected to happen when you boarded this train, but you're certainly not complaining about the outcome.
Maybe you'll change your mind, and one day depart from this place and the two fae you've somehow acquired. But as of this moment, spending your days with two magic beings vying for your attention, a warm bed, good food, and helping others?
That's a pretty good deal to you.
Best Christmas present you've ever gotten, by a long shot.

So. Dolphin. Tell me about these little guys :3 (Persona edition) What are they like? What are their names? Backstory perchance? Mwehehe
Bonus:

*johnny yong bosch voice* PERSONA! thanks for getting me into this franchise btw, though my knowledge is still limited to the 60 hours we've played of P4 Golden so far and the bits you've shared about 3 and 5. Thus I can say with tenuous confidence that these guys aren't from those games at least? 😅
So who are they? Well first there's Psychic Chie aka, uh, Rosalind. I can see her filling a similar role as Chie though, being sorta loud and easily flustered and probably has a mad crush on whoever the protagonist is. She's got those Leia Rolando/Lynne from Ghost Trick vibes of being very cheerful and trying her best but oops! Problems instead! And maybe trauma!
I like the floating heart shaped beads around her, I hope she uses them as her weapon 💓 She's probably like "teehee I'm gonna beat you with cuteness!" and then it's like 'oh no Rosalind, you made the Shadows fall in love with you instead!' 'Oopsies!!' *canned laughter*
Next is a character whose art style looks like Q or Q2, and the pattern on their skirt suggests they go to Yasogmai High too? So either this is from a social link I didn't do (I never did join the drama club did I 😅) or they're a Q-exclusive character who is part of the same world as the P4 guys.
But that's all I got for the Naoto-esque deductions, time to make stuff up. This is Linette, a level-headed but quiet sophomore. She's not shy, she just doesn't speak much unless prompted. She probably has all of the braincells of the group, unless corndogs are involved, and then all sense goes out the window (I'm assuming you chose this picture for a reason and it's not just a coinidence she's eating one 😅).
She's probably an NPC who like helps you measure your social links or something, but occassionally she also shows up during plot events to say a couple helpful lines and then dip so the player cans solve the problem themselves. Or maybe she is a social link herself in a community garden or something, she does have a powerful (and adorable) flower motif going. Very cute. I think I'd like this character. Is she romanceable?
And then finally we have this sexy evil looking guy. I'm not sure if he's actually bad or just likes to look morose and debonair but I'm gonna say he's an antagonist at least, probably not the final boss though. You're not important enough for that.
Since he's bad he probably has a name like Eddelgard or Evangelion or something that starts with an 'E' because all bad guys have 'E' names, right Pav? ;) EXCEPT in Persona, where they all have 'A' names instead, so naturally this guy's name is Avangelion.
[It has occurred to me that Persona games usually give their characters Japanese names so I have a 0 percent chance of getting these names right. oh well.]
So Avangelion here has the swept back hair and the corsage because he wants to look like a ladies man and all the NPCS love him BUT the protagonist and party know his true nature, that he's actually manipulative and cunning (I'm probably slandering this guy sorry hope he's not your favorite 😂). He has some grand egotistical schemes where he's in charge of everything because he should be because he's better than everyone else and he says this aloud and somehow the NPCs are still like 'aw isn't he such a gentleman??💗'
It's either that, or he's a perfectly normal party character who like. Uses swords and magic and stuff. That's a possibility too.
And that's them! Thanks for letting me ruin these characters, I had heaps of fun making shit up 😂 feel free to send more if you'd like! Also feel free to take this chance to infodump the truth in the notes.
(Oh, and the bonus, Crazy Dancin' Mark. We all know and love him, beloved character of the Dancing All Night spinoffs.)
#persona#so sorry to everyone who actually knows these characters i'm sure they're much better than i can imagine 😅#and thanks again pav for sending these! i love being silly together :3#ask games#yknow i should start putting persona 4 stuff on this blog anyway i might as well

Paper Nicktoons- Prologue
Today…
I’m going to tell you the story of “Star Spirits and Good Wishes.”
Far, far away, beyond the sky, way above the clouds, it’s been said that there’s a haven where Stars live. In this sanctuary of Star Haven there rests a fabled treasure called the Star Rod, one of the Great Wands which have the power to grant all wishes. Using this wondrous Star Rod, the seven revered Star Spirits worked in tandem with other mystical councils across the realms to watch over our peaceful worlds carefully… very carefully.
And then one day…
The elderly Koopa in a purple hat and matching robes, looking ever so out of place in Star Haven, peered out nervously from her hiding place.
Satisfied, she put her magic rod up to her beak, “The coast is clear, your Nastiness. Prepare for transport.”
“Perfect. Everything’s ready on my end, Kammy. Fire away!”
At her master’s bidding, Kammy shot a geometric bolt of Koopa magic at the ground nearby. The bolt exploded into a small mass of multicolored smoke, dissipating to reveal the King of the Koopas, Lord Bowser himself.
The mighty Dragon-koopa inhaled deeply, before declaring, “Ah, I love the smell of stardust in the morning! All right Kammy, let’s go get ourselves a superweapon!”
“Mwehehe! As you command, my Lord!” the old witch cackled, and the duo of dastardly turtles strode towards the Star Temple (people in the Mushroom Kingdom’s world are really uncreative with names).
As they entered the great hall, Bowser grew suspicious, “Weird. A building this important holding such a powerful artifact, but no guards in sight.”
“That’s because we only need one,” called a familiar voice, prompting the villains to turn around.
What they saw was a small yellow star with reddish-brown eyes and a distinctive brown lock of hair drooping to the right. Kammy had no idea who this smug little sprite was, but Bowser would recognize that grim expression on any face.
“Er… hey, Geno! Long time no see, pal! Congrats on the promotion… this is a promotion right?”
“It is, thanks. So, how’s this going to play out, old friend?”
“...Can we skip the Mariachi Guy stand-off and go straight to the shootout?”
Geno responded by forming a replica of his old loaned doll body, gun arms at the ready.
“Thank you. BOOK IT, GRANNY!” the duo leaped to either side of the Star Guardian, narrowly avoiding being riddled with bullets.
The possessed puppet focused on Kammy, figuring she would be the healer of the pair, “Kamek didn’t teach Bowser much in the way of respecting his elders, did he?”
“Do you want to try telling a two ton near-immortal fire-breathing dragon fueled by teenage hormones to be polite?”
“Fair enough.”
It was a testament to Geno’s skill and Kammy’s experience that they could hold such a casual conversation in the middle of a firefight. As it was, Bowser was struggling to find an opening between the shower of bullets and geometric shapes-either through his old party member’s defenses or to his coveted prize. Just as he was about to go into his usual fiery rage, he remembered something.
With little hesitation, the large Koopa retired to his shell, spinning rapidly and obviously towards his enemy. On reflex, Geno easily caught the Koopa King and tossed him over his shoulder down the hall-in the wrong direction, he realized too late.
Now ignoring the elderly Magikoopa (who had been growing increasingly winded as the duel went on), Geno raced to the end of the hall, hoping beyond hope he wasn’t too late.
His wish had failed by a matter of milliseconds.
“GWAHAHAHA!! I’ve done it! Finally, I can take what’s rightfully mine!”
“Not if I have something to say about it!” With that, the Star-turned-toy leaped up to grasp the Star Rod, hoping his desire to save it would outweigh Bowser’s ambition.
Not even close, he realized with a start. Barely enough of his own influence shown through to make a single request for indirect aid. Still, he supposed as he was tossed across the chamber, it’s better than nothing.
Bowser, who had felt the Rod act without him, leered maliciously at his adversary, “what did you do?”
The Star, suddenly feeling much more wooden then celestial, glared defiantly, “wouldn’t you like to know?”
Bowser sneered, smoke puffing from his flared nostrils, before his face morphed into a wicked grin, “You know, I can never remember; are you a Dummy or a Puppet?”
Confused, Geno was about to reply that he was, in fact, a Doll, before noticing that he could no longer move his body. Bowser’s grin widened. “Stand at attention, soldier.”
Unbidden, the Star Guardian complied. It was then that Geno realized; Bowser had just made his first wish.
“Your Cruelness!” Kammy called as she entered the Star Rod’s chamber, “I take it from your evil laughter earlier that we’ve been successful?”
“You bet your best hat we have! Check it- the Mushroom World’s Great Wand and a new minion as a sweet bonus! He doesn’t do much right now other than follow direct orders, but I can work on that later.”
In high spirits, the Koopa King summoned his signature white and green Clown Car, “Get in Geno, we’re blowing this joint in style!”
As his weapon-turned-prison obeyed it’s new master (who was currently ravaging Star Haven and imprisoning the seven Star Spirits), Geno could only pray that Mario and whoever would be called to his aid could find some way to fix his newest mistake.
Now Star Kids may rise to Star Haven to deliver people’s wishes…
But those wishes will not come true.
Meanwhile, in other worlds…
A man walked out to his mailbox as he did every morning, pausing only a moment to glare at his hated next-door neighbor (who cheerfully waved back).
As he looked over the mail (mostly bills, again) one envelope confused him.
“That’s odd, Timmy never gets written invitations!”
…
After a long day of school and Ghost fights, all Danny Fenton wanted to do was flop down in his bed and sleep till… probably midnight, if Skulker was in a good mood. Still, something compelled him to check his Email. The newest message was an invitation to a party in… the what kingdom? Calls to his two best friends confirmed that they’d received invites too.
Still, that begged the question why it was explicitly addressed to Danny Phantom.
…
“Good morning, Gary!” Spongebob called as he prepared for his day. Mr. Krabs had closed up shop while he went on a vacation with his daughter Pearl (as much as he hated to admit that he needed the rest) so the Aquatic fry cook’s schedule was free for the next two weeks. The poor guy must have been really out of it, because he’d agreed to pay Spongebob and Squidward while he was gone.
As the animate sea sponge prepared to head outside, he saw that the mail had arrived early today.
“Let’s see… Postcard from Sandy over in Texas, Power bill, Coupons… Oh, what’s this?”
Reading the now-familiar-to-us invitation, the sponge’s square face clearly held back a squee of delight, “I’d better call the guys and see if they can help me get to this ‘Mushroom Kingdom’ place.”
…
“Jimbo! A letter came for you! It looks kinda fancy, too.”
“Coming dad!” Jimmy called down from his room before setting down the ray gun he’d been tinkering with.
“Here ya go, son.” Hugh said as he passed the young prodigy his invitation. Soon after reading it (and checking it over to make sure he’d read it correctly) Jimmy received a call from someone he didn’t quite expect.
“Hi, Spongebob, What’s up?... Wait, You got one too?”

Hello everyone, and welcome to a project I’ve been trying to get off the ground for a while. This is a rewrite of Paper Mario, modified to work in written format, make some minor tweaks to keep things fresh(like including Geno), and of course having the cast of Nicktoons Unite join Mario on his journey. I’ll be trying to post a chapter at least once a week, and I’d be happy to answer any questions about it!

Blue hummed softly as he made his way over to his loving boyfriend, a bright smile appearing on his face as he held out a bowl of one of Nightmare's all time favorite dishes - a bowl stew with freshly baked onion rolls, already buttered and waiting for Nightmare to eat.
The lord of darkness squinted a little at what was clearly either an apology or a peace offering. “Okay, what did you do this time?” he asked suspiciously, wondering what the other had done or caused that he was trying to make up for.
Blue glanced at Nightmare briefly before looming away, answering with “...Nothing.”
“Oh my stars, you totally hesitated." Nightmare groaned. Blue had definitely done something. "I'm not going to like it, am I?” he sighed, unable to resist the temptation to rub his temples with a couple of fingertips.
"Wellllll…" Blue responded, holding out the very delicious looking and smelling food. Nightmare could sense a bit of guilt in the other's aura "Maaaybe? It depends… And you should definitely eat first! I take any news much better after I've gotten a knife meal from someone who loves me very much."
Nightmare sighed and took the food from the other "You know I don't have to eat unless I've expended a certain amount of magic, or I've been heavily injured, right? Please… Just tell me whatever it is that happened. I promise that I won't get too angry, my lovely sapphire."
Blue blushes a little bit at the compliment, having hidden his hands behind his back "Well… I was talking with some of my friends… and they asked if we could have a party at my new place with my boyfriend and to met you! A-and I… kind of said yes without asking you first… but I haven't set a date just yet! And I wouldn't invite all of my friends, just some of the closest! As well as a few friendly rivals of mine. keeping friends close and enemies closer, after all, mwehehe!"
"So you want me to host a party with some of your mafia lieutenants? Ideally when would this happen, Blue?" Nightmare asked with a sigh "and I would need names and numbers - as well as who might be bringing a plus one before we send invites. How formal were you wanting this to be?"
Blue pouted "I do not run a mafia! I have my wonderful friendship club that spans the multiverse."
Nightmare arches a browbone at his boyfriend, huffing “So, about how many people in your friendship mafia did you want to come? And how many of these people are rivals for the head of your… Club.”
“It is not a mafia! I have many wonderful friends that help me do things and hang out together throughout the multiverse… If some friends come from better off places and can lend some stuff to friends in worse circumstances… so be it! And I’m thinking of inviting no more than twenty people - seven of which would be… Friendly rivals. And I’m not sure how many of them would be bringing an additional person - no more than forty in total? I mean - this castle is huge, I’m sure that you could fit that many people… Pleeeease? Besides, I really want you to meet a couple of friends of mine. Ink is a bit of a… A bastard, but he’s also really entertaining and cool. Also Starlight is very sweet but has a core of steel. I think that you two would get along really well.” Blue responded, grinning brightly “Pleeeasse?”
Nightmare sighs, humming a little “I would still need to know names and power sets, love. I will need to plan the security of this thing, as well as the food preferences and dozens of other things. Throwing a party* like this is not a simple thing, love… Especially as I am assuming that you are doing this in part to show off that the two of us are daring, love?”
Blue beamed at that and hugged his beloved tightly “Thanks so much, Nightmare! I promise that by the end of the week, I’ll have the guest list nailed down - and I can help you organize the party! I like organizing things, and I’d love to learn how to do something like this, from you… I’ve been to a couple of those galas of yours, you really do seem to plan for everything - including for potential rebel attacks.”
“I’ve been doing this for centuries, you know. I would hope that I would know what I’m doing by now. Is there anything else that you would like to admit to signing us both up for?” Nightmare prodded gently, smiling fondly at his beloved.
The swap sns hummed for a moment before shaking his head “nope! That’s it… And thanks for going along with this, I know I kinda sprung it up on you all unexpectedly.”
“I accept your apology - and I have been curious about your… Friends for some time, love. .” Nightmare responded with a small smile, pressing a gentle kiss to the other’s teeth, snuggling the other in closer “Now… What shall we do now?”
“Cuddle time with movies!” Blue offered with a grin.
“That sounds wonderful, darling.” Nightmare purrs, nuzzling into the other a little, a small grin appearing on his face as he presses a gentle kiss to the other’s teeth, scooping him up as he walks over to their couch, settling into it as Blue pulled up the first movie to watch.
