The composition was referenced from Stardust (2007) poster because that movie is about the star character who falls from the sky and meet the main human character just like Wish's early concept.
“Having less is so much better,” [Wenders] continues. “As is being less distracted, being focused on fewer things. Most people, me included, are overwhelmed by all the stuff we’re supposed to read, see, own. Hirayama is not overwhelmed. He doesn’t need everything, and doesn’t want everything. His mind is much less cluttered, so he can see things. His reduction is a great charm, and it’s also the great power of the film. Reduction is bliss.” (x)

Interviewer: For me, at least, the flamingo scene is the core of the whole movie. It means that we all need someone to lead us to complete or fulfill our dreams. I think that’s a beautiful message. I would like to know what you think is the core message of this movie.
Timothée: I think it’s exactly like you just said. You just gave me goosebumps because I love that scene too. It is sort of the heart of the movie. Love, community, [and] family is so important. Getting support from your loved ones, getting support from your actual family, getting support from your chosen family…
I love that that scene was as moving to you because it is the heart of the film in some ways, that idea and that message. (YouTube: Sopitas)
