My 7th ARMY Anniversary
Today is my 7th ARMY anniversary!
I became an ARMY on May 23, 2017, and have officially been an ARMY for 7 years. I was 16 then and now I'm 23. It feels like time flew, yet it also feels so long ago.
To celebrate I will write about some of my favorite songs and moments:
1. Favorite BTS song?
I love Film out! Lyrically it means so much to me. It's up there with Yet to Come and Life Goes On regarding its meaning and what I personally get from it. Also, BTS' vocals are amazing, and the song is my vibe sonically. I love the simple yet artistic music video as well.
youtube
2. Favorite BTS performance?
All of their performances are amazing, so my pick isn't necessarily more amazing than any other they've done, but no one can deny that Mic Drop is amazing, and this live version is my favorite. Nothing beats a live band version.
youtube
3. Favorite BTS album?
I have a connection to all of their albums, but Wings is without a doubt my favorite. From top to bottom, its sound and lyrics are full and impactful. I love that it shows the talent of BTS as a group and as solo artists. It starts with a questioning of the self and ends with BTS' connection to each other and ARMY. In between it showcases the personal feelings of each member, and I can relate to each song in different ways. Overall, it's the BTS album and it has no skips!
4. Favorite BTS cover?
Without a doubt, Fix You. As a child, Coldplay was my first introduction to music and spearheaded my love for music. Hearing my favorite artists cover one of their songs so beautifully (as they always do) makes me speechless. 10/10.
youtube
5. An unforgettable moment?
My most unforgettable moment was probably when I became an ARMY. (Yes, I went to the Love Yourself: Tour, but in all of the excitement it's a blur in my memories.)
I remember hearing Ma City for the first time in 2015 on Spotify's radio system, but it wasn't until 2017 that I saw the artists behind the song. As a music lover, I was watching the 2017 BBMAs when I saw them getting their first award. I immediately fell in love with how authentic and grateful they were. Joon caught my eye, and soon I was falling down the rabbit hole. It wasn't long before I officially declared myself an ARMY, made an ARMYs Animo, joined ARMY Twitter, got my first bias (Jin), participated in voting for MAMA, streamed, binge-watched all of Run! BTS, their YouTube content, etc., and eventually experienced my first comeback with Love Yourself: Her. Soon after I got my first of many birthday albums and got solidified by getting my ARMY Bomb.
So, my most unforgettable moments are every time I was at my lowest and BTS helped me smile and made me feel like I wasn't walking alone.
Shifting gears a bit, let's focus on the art they've done recently:
6. Favorite Joon song?
In the same vein as Film out, the sound and lyrics of everythingoes are my favorite. I am a person who struggles to let things go, so this song helps me remember the importance of change. Sonically, this song feels like dancing on a cloud as it rains.
7. Favorite Joon album?
Right Place, Wrong Person comes out very soon, so I'm sure it very well could become my favorite since the word on the street is it's in the alternative genre (my favorite). However, my current favorite Joon album is mono. The album came out when I was one month away from turning 18, stumbling through my first semester of college, and failing said semester. It was October when it came out, and with the rainy nights spent waiting to be picked up from night class, I would blast mono. in my earphones and feel as if I wasn't alone with those heavy feelings. mono. will forever be one of the most personal albums for me.
8. Favorite Jin song?
Jin, my first bias and fellow Sagitarrius. I see myself in his words of living for the joys in life, and I hope he doesn't struggle with the same moderation issues I do. That being said, my favorite song of his is The Astronaut. As I said, Coldplay means a lot to me, just as they do to Jin, so I'm grateful that Jin collaborated with them. The song is the perfect combination of Jin and Coldplay and the lyrics are perfect as well. Sonically it's uplifting and every time I hear it it makes me remember why music was my first love all over again. Jin's vocals are so beautiful. Also, I have always loved space. It just feels like this song is an example of why I love and connect with Jin as an artist and a person.
youtube
9. Favorite Yoongi song?
This is hard. D-Day is my favorite because it's a song that is hype in all of the best ways. Snooze is my favorite sonically as well as lyrically, but there's also Moonlight, People and Life Goes On. My true favorite, however, is Interlude : Set me free. It's up there with Film out, everythingoes, etc. as songs I will always have on my playlist. The vibe of the song is unmatched and lyrically it is so impactful and emotional for me. It makes me want to set myself free. Also, the instrumentals...
10. Favorite Yoongi album?
I probably played D-2 too much when it came out, but nothing can beat the absolute BANGERS that are on D-DAY. Banger, after banger, after bop, after lyrical legendary, after VOCALS, etc. Listening to D-DAY feels like liberation from the self.
11. Favorite Hobi song?
Arson. While I have always loved Hope World, and more recently Equal Sign, MORE, STOP, and NEURON; Arson was and still is so different and amazing every time I hear it. However, that isn't to say Hobi has any skips (he doesn't). Sonically, Hobi's vocals have always captivated me and lyrically I think he's truly my favorite writer in BTS. Arson has a chill yet dark vibe that I enjoy and the lyrics are twisted poetry. All I need now is the live and remix ver. on Spotify and I'll be happy.
youtube
12. Favorite Hobi album?
Hobi never misses, all of his albums are amazing, but Jack In The Box (HOPE Edition) is my favorite. Firstly, Hobi's vinyl is my favorite BTS album I own, and his Hope Editon CD album is by far my favorite concept he's ever done. The whole storyline the album goes through is so well done and I love how (at the time) surprisingly Hobi the album is. He truly crafted each song with love and care. Also, special shoutout to some live versions of the songs included. (More please).
13. Favorite Jimin song?
I love Alone so much. It is completely my vibe. Everything from the dark vocals to the mixing is great. I love the sad yet hopeful lyrics as well. It's one of those songs I always have on my playlist.
Tumblr media
14. Favorite Tae song?
The entire Layover EP is such a vibe, but I have always loved Tae's song Winter Bear. It reminds me a bit of some of Coldplay's older songs and Tae's vocals in it are so beautifully understated. The instrumentals in the song are so relaxing as well.
youtube
15. Favorite JK song?
In My You, JK writes and sings such beautiful words, and the instrumentals are so whimsical. However, my true favorite JK song is Shot Glass of Tears. As a person who has a rocky relationship with alcohol and those who overconsume it, listening to this song is like a beautiful sonic therapy. JK's vocals are perhaps my favorite I've ever heard from him, and the instruments of the song are so emotional.
Tumblr media
If you read all of this, thank you. I have enjoyed my journey with BTS and I know I will continue to enjoy their art that inspires and heals me for many years to come.

I'm looking forward to your reviews on their individual albums/music etc
Okay, I will tell you as long as everyone promises to be nice!
First, I want to be upfront with the fact that I do not have the technical knowledge required to critique their individual singing or songwriting skills in depth, so this is not that kind of review. However, I believe that people should actively engage with art, be it music, painting, or writing, at whatever level of expertise they may have, rather than consume it mindlessly. The following are my personal opinions and observations as a fan since 2015. I will focus mainly on their Chapter Two individual works, but I will also reference their previous solo and group work. And as a friendly reminder, the members of BTS are not above criticism as artists or as people.
"Indigo" by RM
If I had to use one word to describe this album, I would use "growth." More specifically, I would classify the transition from "RM" to "mono." as linear growth, and the transition from "mono." to "Indigo" as exponential growth. This is a project that Namjoon worked on for several years, which is apparent by the way each song is like a chapter of the same overarching story. The diverse genres and moods depict the ups and downs of life really well, and listening to the entire album in one sitting is a cathartic experience for me.
When I first saw the tracklist and noticed how many other artists were featured, I was nervous because a lot of BTS' collaborations feel like forcing a puzzle piece into a spot where it doesn't fit. What I mean by that is, they either cut out a chunk of the original song or insert a blank space and then fill it with a clipping of what sounds like an entirely different song. A substitution rather than a collaboration, if you will. However, that was not the case here. I think Namjoon did an excellent job of blending his own sound, style, and emotion with that of the other artists.
The only thing that I actively disliked on this album is the beat in "Change pt.2" from about 0:49 to 1:00. It's grating on the ear, which might have been intentional given the content of the song, but it isn't pleasant to listen to, and I cringe every time I hear it. As for a favorite, I can't really choose, but I think the objective number of replays would point to "Lonely."
"The Astronaut" by Jin
This one is an outlier because it's only one song, but I will discuss it just the same. I really liked Seokjin's voice in this one. I don't know the official terms, but it's lower and less breathy than usual. To me, that makes his voice sound warmer. Overall, this was a soothing song that left me wanting more when he gets back. I am waiting (im)patiently.
P.S. I know people tend to love or hate Coldplay. I don't listen to them or know anything about them as people, so the fact that this was cowritten by them doesn't really factor into my opinion of the song, if that makes sense.
"D-DAY" by Agust D
The amount of money I spent to see him live in Chicago should tell you how much I liked this album. Similar to what I said about Namjoon above, there's tangible growth from his mixtapes "Agust D" and "D-2" to his studio album "D-DAY." It's to be expected that experience will improve the craft, of course, but I still have to say it.
Yoongi is my favorite composer of BTS, by far. "Interlude: Dawn" and "Snooze" give me goosebumps every time I listen time them. Also, I love it when he uses traditional instruments like the haegeum. There's just something about the emotions he conveys in his tone, lyrics and melody that made this album a nonstop repeat for me.
My complaints are few and small. The autotune gets to be too much in the song "D-Day," and I'm not crazy about "People Pt. 2." Personally, I am not a fan of IU's voice. I have nothing against her, by any means, and I know she can sing, but I prefer women with deep, husky voices. And for the life of me, I can't figure out what her part means. I'm guessing this was a direct translation from Korean that didn't really...well, translate.
"Jack in the Box" by j-hope
When I first watched the MV for "More," I stimmed for joy. I was rocking, flapping, and squealing. I braved Lollapalooza as an autistic person, surrounded by a hundred thousand people in the summer heat, wearing the denim jacket I painted and an N95 mask to hear this man live. Hoseok's personality shone through in the concept, the MVs, the music, and the lyrics. He burst out of the box to show who he is as an artist. Perhaps I am (Hobi-)biased, but I don't have much else to say other than that I love this album, and I'm excited to hear more from him in the future.
"FACE" by Jimin
"Set Me Free Pt. 2" was the first single that was released, and it thoroughly crushed my hopes for the rest of the mini album. Though I liked the melody of the chorus, the 9 repetitions of "set me free-e-e" left a lot to be desired lyrically. I think he was trying to portray the desperation he felt by repeating the phrase, but his voice didn't show a progression in emotion as he continued through the chorus. For comparison, in Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of," the last line "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" is repeated 16 times, but the way it starts as a murmur and builds up to a scream is powerful; it hits you in the chest. "Set Me Free Pt. 2" didn't have that effect. Also, the autotune in the middle when he "raps" is awful. I saw people on here reaching to explain why the autotune wasn't actually that bad, but...it just doesn't sound good. And him saying "fuck all your opps"? Yikes.
The other single "Like Crazy" was much better and more in line with what I was expecting. Rarely do I like any of the excessive remixes they put out, but the deep house one is actually good. I liked the music video, too. But unfortunately, the mud on his hand after all that bathroom imagery was a...shitty decision. Overall, I don't go out of my way to listen to any of the songs but "Like Crazy" and "Letter," which is my favorite.
"Layo(v)er" by V
I was underwhelmed by this mini album. I expected R&B and jazz from him, and I think his voice suits those genres well, but none of the songs had a particularly strong impact on me. I would say I like "Love Me Again" the most, but it doesn't even compare to "Singularity" and "Stigma" for me. I have to be in a specific mood to listen to slow music in general, so the odds were stacked against this album from the beginning.
"Golden" by Jung Kook
This album was the biggest disappointment I have ever felt as a fan. Honestly, I didn't think it could get any worse than "Permission to Dance," but I was wrong. Before I continue, I feel like I need to offer some context on my general opinion of BTS' music from 2020 onward before I get too deep into the weeds. So let me start with that.
A lot of people think BTS peaked before or during the "Wings" era and sold out with the release of "DNA." I am not one of those people. Most of my favorite BTS songs come from the "Love Yourself" and the "Map of the Soul" eras. There are songs that tug on my heartstrings, songs that give me energy, and songs that are inextricably tied to certain memories from college and my first job. This was when I felt like I was changing and growing in a positive way thanks to BTS' message and music.
That changed with Covid-19. I loved "Map of the Soul: 7" and had tickets to see BTS in Chicago, but then the concert was postponed. Later, it was canceled. Half a year into the pandemic, BTS released "Dynamite" as a fun summer song to lift everyone's spirits. It was their first all-English song, which might've had more global appeal due to the number of people who speak English as a first language, second language, or lingua franca. Personally, I don't hate "Dynamite," but I do hate what it led to.
This was their first Billboard #1. It succeeded far beyond anyone's expectations, and I was proud of them for that. I was glad that more people were checking out their music because BTS is one of my main special interests. However, a lot of what followed felt like an attempt to recreate the success of "Dynamite" rather than an effort to grow as artists. Whether that desire for numbers came from the company or from BTS themselves, I'll never know. All I can say is, I'm glad DynaButterPTD did not get a Grammy. Let's continue.
"BE" came next, and if I had to describe it in a word, I would say "homemade." BTS were more involved in this album than any other, including the concept, the album design, the photoshoots, the music video, and the songs. Because of that, the overall vibe was different, and combined with the effects of the pandemic, the album gave me the feeling that the members of BTS were struggling with who they were as a group, as artists, and as people.
This continued into "Butter" and "PTD," two more all-English songs, and various collaborations of the puzzle-piece-that-doesn't-fit variety I mentioned above. It was an identity crisis. I can't think of another way to describe it. Eventually, BTS decided for themselves that they had to take a step back, spend some time alone, and regroup later. I was both sad and relieved to hear the news. Releasing "PROOF" was a good way to look back on what they'd accomplished so far and put an end to Chapter 1.
That brings us to Chapter 2. More specifically, "Golden." Now, I love Jungkook. Spend 5 minutes scrolling through my blog, and that much will be obvious. But this album was not it for me. First, I want to make it clear that the members of BTS can sing in whatever language they so choose. Having said that, I do tend to prefer their songs that are entirely in Korean or are a mixture of Korean and English. Why? Emotion.
BTS' all-English songs tend to be written by other people, and those people tend to be the ones who write the same bland, unoriginal songs for overrated American/Canadian/British pop singers. Although Jungkook sings the English lyrics of this album with excellent pronunciation and technique, it doesn't have the magnitude of emotion in songs that he participated in writing, such as "Your Eyes Tell," which is in Japanese and English.
I don't know a lot about song credits, but I've noticed the following pattern: the more the members' names show up in the credits, the more I like the song. Looking at the credits for Golden? Jungkook's name isn't listed on a single song. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. A lot of wonderful singers all around the world can take a song that is given to them and make it their own by contributing their own talent, their own voice. But frankly, Jungkook didn't do that with these songs. I didn't want to say it, but...these are Justin Bieber songs. Especially "Too Sad to Dance," which is nearly indistinguishable from Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."
On episode 21 of Suchwita, Jungkook said he recorded five songs in a week, which amounted to one song per day in a 3-hour session, give or take. Yoongi said that was a sign of unbelievable growth, and for comparison, Taehyung said it takes him 3 days to record one song. If I remember correctly, Namjoon worked on "Indigo" for 3 years. So, it's really no wonder why this album is the music equivalent of fast fashion.
I've already talked about how much I hated "Seven" (the song and the MV) in other posts, I can't do it again. Jack Harlow's part in "3D" makes me gag. I can't take the lyrics for "Shotglass of Tears" seriously. I mean, "she the life of the party...42 in her body...tell me, am I ever gon' feel again?" Yikes! "Closer" is generic runway music. "Yes or No" is tolerable. The only song I really liked is "Standing Next to You." I'm just disappointed. I don't have anything else to say.

Hello!! I hope that you’re having a lovely day!~ Here are some questions from the ask game!<3
23. recommend some music!! 🎶💃
50. tell us about your favorite outfit!✨
64. describe the fifth picture on your phone!🥰
Hiiii 🥰
23. I am currently obsessed with JVKE's album "this is what___feels like (Vol. 1-4)", so it's my recommendation for anyone who would ask me for a music recommendation at the moment 😁 my all time go-to recommendation would be mono by rm, tho, because it makes you feel things and some people need that.
50. Blue jeans, white cotton shirt, chucks. I think I wore this like once a week at least! The jeans are starting to fall apart tho, so I have to find an alternative soon or try to mend them 🤔
64. This is going to be oddly specific: it's the unedited version of a close up of some page corners of my Leuchtturm Notebook in a wooden stand on my desk. Thought it looked aesthetic 💚

I have a feeling you listen to soft spoken music. Like 24/7 studie beats.
Yeah, i do listen to music like that,,,, wouldn’t say all the time but i do listen to it when i need background noise.  The music i listen to depends mostly on my mood or on what mood do i want to feel ig. Fun fact, i make playlists on spotify. Tons of them. Not necessarily for someone to listen to them but mostly for me to have an order.
Here is the link of my playlists so y’all can check them out if you want.

mono. isn’t really my cup of tea, but listening to it at night hits differently. It’s really a masterpiece - it’s so well put together and perfect, the more I listen to it the more I love it. In comparison, Agust D or even D2 are much more of a rollercoaster. Suga likes to tell stories with his music - stories with a beginning, middle and end of sorts (he also likes to repeat lyrics), but RM is all about vibes, feelings, thoughts, that are timeless and exist by themselves - you could listen to mono. out of order and it would make little difference. The album definitely tells a story, and flows really well, but its structure is more aesthetic than functional and each song expresses similar feelings with varying, but not too varied, degrees of intensity. More than anything, mono. has a very specific sound and vibe that leaves an impression.
I actually decided to listen to mono. again today because RM played seoul in his vlog, and I’m happy I did. I failed to really appreciate the album in the past - though I always knew it was a masterpiece - but today I actually, genuinely, loved it. For the first time, it didn’t feel too nostalgic or sentimental to me - maybe because I listened to it at night, or maybe because lately I’ve been listening to some music more in the style of mono.... Anyway, my favorite song is probably everythingoes - I love the violin so, so much, the song is so epic.
If RM’s next album won’t be like mono., what will it be like? More chill like Bicycle? He did say he liked acoustic songs. Will it be more pop/GP friendly?
Also, Change (with Whale) is a masterpiece too. It’s so sexy and smooth.

//Reflection
One of my favorite albums (in the ever) is mono. by RM.
I recently learned that RM, the pseudonym of Korean musician Kim Namjoon of BTS, sounds like aleum (아름) a Korean word for beauty. I’ve always thought that he has a beautiful way of writing about life, about making the mundane seem special.
I consider this album (or, a, I’m pretty sure he refers to it as such, playlist) a forever friend. Do you also have an album that you think of as a best friend album? An album you can listen to when you’re happy, when you’re sad, when you’re everything, when you’re nothing? One that you’re convinced will always be your favorite? This is mine! It’s a friend for every situation, but especially for when I am especially in need of comfort that isn’t from myself.
It takes me exactly one mono.-listen to walk to my favorite spot on the river, I like to sit there for another mono.-listen, and then walk back home. It takes three mono.s for what I think is is sufficient self-not-reflection but more like for remembering that I’m a person... self-actualization? It’s a good unit of measurement for the things I like to do (three mono.s is around an hour and 15 minutes)! And about 6/7 of a mono. to walk to the duck pond I live near... 18/7 for the total..
A lot of the songs that RM makes as a solo act feel like they’re putting my loneliness into words, in turn making me feel less lonely. An Oh. I’m not alone in feeling what I feel.
Right now, I’m overwhelmed with the lyrics in Life, a song off of his first project, which is self-titled. Why would there be no antonym of loneliness? Perhaps it’s because we never have a moment of no-loneliness until we die (translated from the Korean lyrics 외로움의 반대말은 왜 없을까 / 사람은 죽을 때까지 안 외로울 때가 없어서일지 몰라 via https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/28/life/). My mind always go to this lyric when writing and thinking about my loneliness and my ever-present desire for companionship.
His song Reflection I think perfectly reflects the utility of his music in my life. It’s about the thoughts he has while at a park that he visits when he is overwhelmed or sad or both. Although I will genuinely listen to his music whenever, like as in to the what would you bring with you on a deserted island question I would bring mono. .... his music is perfect for these moments when I need to force myself to confront my thoughts. Journalling music!
슬며시 다가와서 나의 손을 잡는 fear and the fear that gently approaches me and holds my hand
세상은 절망의 또 다른 이름 [ireum] The world is another name for despair
나의 키는 지구의 또 다른 지름 [jireum] My height is another diameter of Earth
나는 나의 모든 기쁨이자 시름 [sireum] I’m my whole happiness and my worries
매일 반복돼 날 향한 좋고 싫음 [sireum] They repeat every day, the likes and dislikes directed at myself *The above four lines end-rhyme (-reum).
(the above five lines copied from https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/16/reflection/)
I’m always struck by the rawness of his lyrics... like this fear that he writes about... what he writes gently approaches me and holds my hand! And my heart. And my soul. And my everything.... thank you....
There are many, many, many RM lyrics that I carry in my heart! And I could go on and on...
The song that I think is my favorite of his (at least, off of mono.) is called uhgood. The title in Korean is 어긋 (pronounced as uh-geut) which means: “(1) fall short of expectations and (2) miss each other (by taking different routes)” (quoted from https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/uhgood/). It’s really interesting that there is this contrast between the English title and the Korean title; uhgood is “good” yet uhgeut seems to be “bad.”
Equal parts dreamlike (sound) and real (lyric), this song is so beautiful. To me, it is about the pains of self-discovery; My ideal and reality, they are too far apart. But, I still want to cross the bridge and reach me. The real me, the real me (translated from the Korean lyrics 내 이상과 현실 / 너무 멀고 먼 / 그래도 다리 건너 / 내게 닿고 싶어 / 진짜 내게 (yeah, yeah) / 진짜 내게 (yeah) via https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/uhgood/).
*A note that there is sooo much that a simple translation like this can not capture. There are often translator’s notes that come with the lyrics. Such as, at the bottom of the lyrics quoted above, the translator mentions that due to “I” and “you” sounding similar in the Korean language, one could hear the above lyrics as being second-person instead of first-person. Again, the relatability! This is part of why this song touches my heart so much.
A lot of his songs talk about self-hatred, like Reflection, which repeats the phrase “I wish I could love myself,” thus I am drawn towards his sentiments of hope.
I can’t let go of me who I know as myself, because you, in my head, are so whole like this, because you are so perfect (translated from the Korean lyrics 내가 아는 나를 난 놓아줄 수가 없어 / 내 머릿속의 넌 이렇게 온전한데 / 완전한데 via https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/uhgood/, the translator notes that the “you” used here is the ideal “me” that RM is referencing).
All of my favorite RM lyrics (there’s more ... like the whole song of Trivia: Love and forever rain) are so touching and meaningful to me in that they seem to capture a picture of my heart, and feel like a warm hand on my back.

A not-at-all brief commentary on BE-hind story interview.
We really got over an hour of BTS just talking about their music. They really told the media yall don’t ask the right questions so let me do it for you. Love that for them.
But honestly I am so happy that they decided to do this. Because most of the time interviewers don’t ask the right questions or it is in a situation where they have time constraints. Or the interviewer never even listened to the album in the first place (think james corden saying his favorite track on be is dynamite probs because it seemed like that was the only one he knew).
I appreciate as well that it is the members interviewing each other. They could have just as easily sat each member in a room and asked them the questions off screen. But they didn't. I think that adds such a personal element to the interview. Bts members likely know about each other’s music (even solo music) better than anyone else. So who better to talk with the members about their music than each other?
Running commentary of each interview below the cut.
JK interviews Jin
Blonde jk for the win
I lost count of how many times they shook hands please they are so annoying
Jin please don’t downplay your talents. That hurt my heart. If I could describe his voice in one word it would have been powerful. I hope that jin got to see all the praise after the fix you cover. Because he killed it in that.
I loved getting to hear the behind the scene of jin’s role in stay; I didn’t know his role in it before he talked about it.
I’m glad jin got to release abyss and put so much of his own work into it. It is also so amazing to hear how much help joon is to all of the members when it comes to lyrics and music. A talented king.
Slightly surprised there wasn't more clowning around in their interview since these two are usually so chaotic together. I thought jk would clown jin when they started talking about jin being older but he didn't. Growth.
Hobi interviews JK
Hobi looks so soft in that cardigan
Hobi right off the bat asking about the mixtape. He knows what we want.
Jk talking about how he wants to try writing songs not just about his own experiences was so interesting to hear; can’t wait to see what he comes up with in the future.
Him talking about all the different things he wants to try but it’s almost too many was very relatable. That feeling of having so many choices you don't know where to start. But that does mean that when we do get a mixtape from him it will be from varying styles of music and i am all here for that. Personally holding out for rocker jk or acoustic jk.
His favorite song to sing is euphoria; that’s so sweet it is such a gem of a song. I think I would have chosen still with you since it’s pretty different than a lot of the other songs he sings.
Hobi saying “you’re all grown up” to jk and jk saying “i'm not the old me” really hit me in the feels. Hobi and bts really did watch jk grow from a slightly awkward pre-teen to the confident man he is today. They must feel so proud of him. 23 yo jk is not a baby of bts anymore. He does what he wants. He wears what wants. He has long hair and dyes it blonde then blue just because he can. He even talked about how his voice has matured. Im glad that the members see that too and seem to be proud of the person he has became.
3 main tracks. 3 mv. 3 choreos of different styles. Yes do it jk please im begging. After seeing him dance in black swan at mma i want to see more contemporary dancing from him. And i feel like after getting still with you and stay he can write songs that would fit that vibe. I just want to see jk’s dance talent showcased more.
I don’t know if the fans could survive 3 separate jk mv. We barely survived a live performance of my time.
Tae interviews Hobi
Tae in that emerald green sweater. He looks so good. He should wear that color more
I love how serious tae is about playing the interviewer. The actor in him never sleeps.
Hobi talking about the dual meanings behind the title of Dis-ease was so cool. Fans obviously caught that it could mean multiple things. But as far as i know that was never confirmed. Now that it is I am once again impressed with the thought they put behind everything they do.
A psychological occupational disease. Your mind hobi
I think it’s so cool that hobi recorded it by himself and how he said that doing it like that allows him to grow as a producer since he has to listen and edit himself. They really just always continue to grow in their roles in music don’t they?
Hobi talking about how he would love to solve his own problems but then remembering that he is part of a team really shows how much they trust and rely on each other. So he and jimin worked on the melody of the bridge together and then joon wrote the lyrics. And now we have the most iconic bridge of all time. Still holding out for a dis-ease live performance or music video (I’m a clown I know).
And lol at tae being like call me next time dude
“I would like to share my music with everyone” -- please do
Please tae is so sweet and attentive!? “When you talked about music i noticed you had a smile on your face and i thought ‘he really loves music’”. “But personally if i had your skills I’d be showing off and be proud of myself”. Kim taehyung is the embodiment of a teddy bear
And closing it with actor tae again -- “can i get your autograph”
Jin interviews Jimin
Two seconds into the interview they are clowning each other with jin saying to talk informally. Yet as soon as jm did (and that slight smile when he did), jin is like I was talking to myself. Chaotic as expected of these two.
Jm talking about his process for music being “just go as i feel” makes so much sense for him. He is an easy going person and it makes sense that it reflects in his work style.
It’s so cool that him coming up with the melody of the dis-ease bridge was just because he was humming to himself and the producer liked it -- almost serendipitous if you will
I love when people praise jimin for his vocals. So hearing him talk about how they used his vocal in place of a female for lgo’s chorus stroked my jm bias ego
Joon is seriously the best human ever. Jimin didn’t want to bother the other members to help with christmas love but joon contacted him and helped with the lyrics anyway. Bts seriously has the most amazing leader.
“I’d like to try making an acoustic style song”. Please do it jimin. Acoustic bts is my weakness but especially acoustic jimin. Songs like promise sound so good with his singing style.
Jin shaking jimin’s pinky 😂
“I’m a little disappointed in the MC” “but you know if you looked around there is no MC like me” -- jinmin’s relationship everybody
Jimin interviews Joon
Minimoni look so cozy in their sweatshirts sitting on a plush rug.
“You know we have this youngest member”. “Oh jungkook?” “No the real youngest” “Oh seokjin. That’s a shame” -- please minimoni are so funny and joon knew immediately who jm was talking about when he said the real youngest.
“It felt like I was doing the only thing i could do” . Please let me give you a hug joon
Joon’s mind continues to amaze me. How he talked about needing the concept or key word to give “flesh” to the song was such a good way to explain how he approaches music.
“What do you mean little? You play a very big role” -- lol jimin speaking facts. I already mentioned how amazing it is that he helped jimin and jin with their individual songs. The fact that members who want help with their own music always seem to go to joon really tells you how much of an amazing and talented human being kim namjoon is. I can’t remember the context, but there was this moment that jimin (or was it hobi?) said something like “what would we do if we didn't have rm”. They are truly lucky to have him.
Release that minimoni subunit now please and thank you
Tell us what you’re working on joon don't be shy. Joon mentioned that his music is like a diary. I would love to know his thoughts expressed in music now. 2018 joon who made mono and 2021 joon are two very different people. Bts has grown so much since then.
Joon interviews Yoongi
The work colleagues! Did you know they have worked together for 10 years?
Yoongi’s fuzzy sweater. So soft
Yoongi saying he writes songs when he is bored. Lol i love him so much
It’s really interesting to hear them talk about their lyrics getting rejected. I guess we don’t hear much about that part. And lol at joon just laughing and saying he guesses he didn’t grasp tae’s intentions for b&g.
I like that this was more of a conversation than an interview. I love it when these two just sit together and talk about technical stuff that i don’t understand (like the festa interview)
Yoongi is such a good person to make music with. JK wanted to add humming to telepathy? They added humming to telepathy. I had wondered the reason why there are two different versions of the song. I prefer the longer one tbh
Yoongi wants to make an acoustic song? Hell yeah. Jimin does too. So yoongi x jimin subunit acoustic song with yoongi playing the guitar (please). Also a folk song?? Yoongi your taste i like it
I can’t wait to hear yoongi sing im so excited for him
Yoongi talking about how they made this album with no pressure and got to just do what they wanted and that it was received so well. How he wants to keep making music like that. That makes me happy. I want them to continue to get to do that. I love the big productions and concepts of their albums. But if they are happier making albums like be that do not have that then that is what i want them to do.
“Please listen to telepathy a lot” -- what yoongi wants yoongi gets. Go stream telepathy
Yoongi interviews Tae
The title of blue and grey is because tae wants to overcome that feeling. My heart.
He looked so shy talking blue and grey. I am so excited to see him get to talk about kth1 when it comes out. I could listen to him for hours.
English guide track? Release it tae
“I felt kind of proud of myself” -- you should tae
Yoongi straight up asking tae why he didn't include joon’s lyrics was interesting. It’s cool to know that tae had the kind of power to choose what he felt would fit the emotion of the song.
It doesn’t surprise me that tae feels so much pressure to make sure the tape is good before it is released. It seems like when it comes to solo work the members really do feel more pressure since they aren't sharing the burden with the others.
“Please look forward to it” -- don’t worry tae everyone is
We know from the preview that there are 13 songs potentially on the mixtape. That would be so amazing if he released it with so many songs. Tae’s voice sounds so good in so many different styles so i know that it would be so varied.
Final thoughts -- I love that they got to do this. I hope going forward they do this more for their albums. And from what the members said they enjoyed getting to be so involved in the process of making the album. It would be amazing if that continued. While a lot of their hit songs are not made fully by the members, those songs that are often have more meaning to the fans. b&g, stay, telepathy. These were songs from the members. We got to hear their actual thoughts put into these songs. I hope that bh sees how well this album did and lets that continue.
Congrats if you made it to the end!

Get to know Kim Namjoon
Namjoon was born on September 12th, 1994, in South Korea. His stage name was once Rap Monster but he has since changed it to RM. As a child Namjoon would watch the TV show ‘Friends’. This helped Namjoon learn English, He also has an IQ of 148. If you ask me, his IQ seriously helped him out. I’m trying to learn Korean by watching tv shows and studying and it’s doing nothing. So RM is one talented dude. ANYWAYS, Namjoon was once in the underground Hip Hop scene. During this time he went by the name ‘Runch Randa’. In 2009 RM auditioned for Big Deal Records. He passed his first round but failed the second because he apparently forgot his lyrics. Which I can’t see him doing. But another rapper, who goes by the name Sleepy, exchanged contact information with RM. Sleepy later mentioned Namjoon to BigHit producer Pdogg. Then in 2010 Sleepy then contacted Namjoon and encouraged him to audition for Big Hit. Bang PD, the ceo (I believe he is no longer the ceo, I'm not sure but I don’t wanna look it up so), offered RM a spot at the label. RM immediately accepted the offer. RM would then produce music with Pdogg during his trainee years. Then on June, 13, 2013 RM debuted in BTS. RM has produced and written many of BTS songs. Including ‘We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2’, their debut song ‘No More Dream’, ‘Just One Day’, and popular songs ‘Fake Love’, ‘Spring Day’, ‘DNA’, and ‘Life Goes On’.
Fun facts time!
RM may be the leader but he is actually the “middle child’ of BTS. There are three members older than RM. Jin, Yoongi, and Hoseok. And then there are the three younger, Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook.
Namjoon has many different nicknames. Nicknames include, Joon, Joonie, Rap Mon, Moni, Namjoonie, and my personal favorite because it’s relatable, The God Of Destruction. Which brings us to our next fact!
Namjoon is called the God Of Destruction because he has a bad habit of breaking pretty much everything. Namjoon has broken his sunglasses while putting them on. As well as some of his perscription glasses. He’s broken little signs they use while on a game show. Although he didn’t necessarily break this, I guess Namjoon has lost 33 pairs of Airpods. Once while preforming he ripped his shirt and then, once again, years later Jungkook’s shirt. He’s broken a microphone and its battery while playing a game with the group while on Run BTS. He is also not very good with cooking? The members have said that he’ll burn the pan but not the food. I don’t know how he does it but I do it too so I can’t talk.
Joon is the tallest member of the band at 5’11 or 181 cm. However many fans who have seen him up close say he’s much taller than that.
RM has given multiple UN speeches. One in 2018 and one in 2021. I believe those are the only two as of the time of this writing but I’m not quite sure.
RM loves to read. In BTS In The Soop season two RM read multiple books durning the mini vacation. I believe I read somewhere that he read like 8 books within like 3 and a half days.
Namjoon loves sea life. There’s quite a few videos of Namjoon with crabs. He loves them. And although he loves sea life, he hates seafood. Again, there’s a video of BTS getting ready to eat and when RM notices that the food is seafood his face falls.
Namjoon has a dog named Rap Mon, named after his old stage name.
Suga has said that Namjoon is a walking Wikipedia. He knows a lot of information about many other groups. Which includes birthdays! I personally think Namjoon is much like an encyclopedia. I’ve seen that man spit out random facts and information in videos.
RM dropped his mixtape Mono in October of 2018. It has seven tracks! My favorite tracks are “moonchild”, “seoul”, and “everythingoes”. However I love the entire album.
Anyways that's a basic overview of Namjoon! Who would you like to learn about next?

got tagged by @hils79 ♥ thank you so much, i adore every tag game that has anything to do with music :’D (and now i’ve also been tagged by @s1utspeare my beloved as well as @ashenlights my dear ♥ apparently am too slow for yall smh)
Rules: spell out your url with song titles, then tag as many people as there are letters in your url
so here goes! am trying to pick some songs i have not mentioned before, let’s see how that goes...
Villain - AleXa (알렉사) x
promoting my girl alexa bc she’s just so cool? am a huge fan of her style even if her music doesn’t always click with me. other option would’ve been oneus’ valkyrie bc the rock version owns my ass
If You’re Hearing This - Hook N Sling, Parson James, Betty Who x
very fitting for summer with these chill and swaying vibes. this song makes me super happy bc there’s a lot of hope in it. it also makes me think about some very mundane soulmate aus where some outsider follows other ppl finding their soulmates in a cafe or library of a tiny book shop or the corner of a museum etc, waiting for their own pair to catch up
Sleepy Hollow - Su Lee x
i’ve been listening to this song for a while now but it still feels relatively new. i love the way things get added to the instrumental the song starts with and then it keeps swelling and swelling. also the lyrics are just amazing
How Do You Sleep? - Sam Smith x
this song is my happy place. despite the lyrics this is just so funky and i get even happier when i remember the bts stuff i watched for this. sam smith seemed to enjoy the dancing a lot, and it was so lovely to see them so excited bc of how much they’ve grown and changed. love that for them
Cover Me - Black Math x
my dear kiddo always tells me that my music taste is very soundtrack-y. this song is a proof of that. such haunting, grandiose, movie-like vibes ♥
Odyssey - Talos x
as anyone who’s been following me or has as much as touched binding knows, i’ve fallen hard and deep for talos. their music is just so nice? it’s comforting, mellow, beautiful, emotional. i love the lyrics so much. wild alee is one of my favorite albums i’ve listened to this year, so of course talos needs to be here.
(another option would’ve been adam lambert’s outlaws of love bc i was absolutely obsessed with this weilan fmv last autumn)
uhgood - RM x
even if moonchild is my fave song from mono, uhgood is the song that speaks to me the most. namjoon’s ability to write songs that are relatable in their rawness but very comforting in their interwoven hope is unparalleled. every song on mono feels like a hug. he’s so accepting of the good and the bad and how those two connect. this one felt like a caress to my perfectionist soul.
Nightmare - Halsey x
this one was harder to choose bc apparently my fave songs tend to begin with an n :’D other options would’ve been no mercy by pvris, never be like you by crywolf and not mine by day6. but i have to go with halsey bc her music has become super important to me. also, nightmare is just Amazing and the mv is even better (it also reminds me of her concert i went to last year before all the covid hassle broke out)
THAT’S A JOKE - NF x
would this be a playlist made by me if it didn’t include at least one nf song? unlikely. this album didn’t speak as much to me as the previous two did but i still have various songs from it on my playlist. this one is a banger. the brutality of nf’s songs hits me every time. (no wonder i associate the songs with liu sang haha)
sorry i cannot make yall a playlist so you have to listen to all of these separately ^^’ i hope you found something worth your while!
tagging: @i-am-just-a-kiddo @aheartfullofjolllly @wuyus @wuxien @yibobibo @xia-xueyi @manhasetardis @jazthespazz @xiejie-liubo ♥ no pressure, especially for those who have longer urls :’D also i feel like some of you have already been tagged but i’ll tag you again in that case. have a nice day ^^

Popular album asks - [askgxmes]
Ok computer: What’s your favorite decade for music? I tend to lean towards music from my own time, so most of the ones I enjoy just hail from the 2010s or 2020s. Some artists I listened to were I guess from the 80s and 90s, but it’s not enough for the decade to stand out.
Definitely maybe: who’s your favorite solo artist? All-time would be Beyoncé, but I love the sounds of the likes of Hozier and Rhye too. I believe Rhye technically has a live band to assist him, but still. OH and I also like Lauv and Khalid.
Nevermind: what’s the first gig/concert you went to? The first legit concert I went to was Paramore, in 2013.
Unknown pleasures: what was the last concert you went to? Hahahahaha - Paramore, 2018.
The queen is dead: what’s the best album to cry to? FLOWERS FOR VASESSSSSSS. For sure. Hayley Williams. mono. by RM is a good contender too.
Different class: what was the first album or single you bought? The first album I asked my parents to get me to support an artist I was genuinely into was Beyoncé’s I Am... Sasha Fierce. The first one I spent on with 100% my own money was either 2 Cool 4 Skool or BE, both by BTS. I forget which one I placed an order for first because I kinda went crazy last April, lmao.
Rumours: a band/artist your friend introduced you to? Most of, if not all, my music taste is honestly only just a scattered list of music recos from different people. That said, one of them would be Hozier, who was introduced to me by an ex.
Pet sounds: a band or artist your parents introduced to you. We have vastly different preferences in music so I never really got into the artists they like listening to.
Abbey road: a song you discovered through a movie or tv show? Badfinger’s Baby Blue, from Breaking Bad.
Back to black: an artist that deserves more hype? I’m the worst person to ask when it comes to underground/under-recognized artists lol. I’m basic as basic gets...
Dark side of the moon: a song you’ve recently discovered. Clocks by Coldplay, I guess? I mean I recognized the melody when I heard it, and I was also aware that Coldplay has a song called Clocks – but I just had no idea that that was the song that went with that title hahahahah if that makes sense???
Appetite for destruction: an artist you’ve liked since you were a child? Beyoncé.
Screamedlica: a band you want to get into? I wanted to get into The Maine so I can get the hype and see why everyone my age listened to them and had such a close relationship with the band, but it was just genuinely not my style. I didn’t hate their music, but I also wasn’t captivated.
Parklife: a popular band you can’t get into? Like I mentioned, The Maine, and a bunch of that whole roster of bands that got popular way back when...like You Me At Six, A Rocket to the Moon, The Summer Set, This Century, etc.
Urban hymms: a song you have changed your mind on: Go Go by BTS. I HAAAAATED the choreography and I didn’t like how immature the chorus sounded, until Reena explained to me why the song was composed the way it was. It was really my fault for not checking out the lyrics sooner lol.
London calling: a band break up that upset you One Direction haha LOL
Goodbye yellow brick road: if you could see anyone in concert tonight who would it be? Assuming we were living in a pre-pandemic world and none of this shit ever happened, BTS.
The gift: what instrument would you like to be able to play. I’m desperate to learn the piano.
The stranger: the last song you listened to: Because of the fourth to the last question, I literally just put on Go Go so that’s currently playing. Before that, I was listening to My Universe, the new collab between BTS and Coldplay.
Parallel lines: the best movie soundtrack: My personal favorite is New Moon. Twilight is objectively the best, but I relate to New Moon’s a whole lot more.
Reputation: a genre you don’t really listen to. Let’s go with country.
Fine line: a band that you liked before they were cool The 1975. < Yeah, thanks to Athenna who was really good at scouring underhyped/up-and-coming artists.
Melodrama: an album you don’t like by an artist you like. Not the biggest listener of Beyoncé’s self-titled. I love some songs, like Jealous, No Angel, Partition...but there are also some songs I can go without listening to.
Currents: an album you like by a band you don’t really like. Not sure about band, but I do like Taylor Swift’s 1989.
Lemonade: a “bad” song that you love 7-11 by Beyoncé. Bad in a sense that the song as a whole was really just made for funsies and doesn’t make sense overall, but it’s so catchy.

Sound Reflections and Theme Song
Sound setting:
I like places with a continuous ‘white noise’ - an aircon/radiator, vehicles passing by late at night, the ticking of a clock, muffled voices and anything not complete silence. If I were a character in a scene, this would be my background score. I love the unpredictable nature of it but also how it’s predictable enough to not put me off.
There isn’t a lot of times people find me without music on; it’s a very inherent part of my life so the lack of any sound is very unnerving. That said, it is also very reflective of my feelings and state of mind at a particular moment.
Podcasts:
I am so not a podcasts person because I feel like it’s quite an effort to keep my attention on them after a while since podcasts aren’t rhythmic (like music) and it’s a lot of talking (from what I’ve been introduced to so far at least).
Radio Programs:
The only radio I have ever listened to is the local one back in India in Tamil: specifically the late night shows post 10 p.m in the car, returning back home from somewhere. I always associate radio to that memory so it’s a lot of Tamil music from the 80s or early 90s (a lot of Ilayaraja, what a legend!) and not any specific radio program.
Film-Sound Design:
I love sound design that blends so well with a film that it’s part of the storytelling at that point, and even elevates it to a near-life experience. Two examples that stayed with me are:
Dunkirk - Other things about the movie aside, I felt like the sound design was really well done that as a viewer, one takes it as part of the story rather than something that runs parallel to it. The sense of urgency and anxiousness that builds towards the halfway mark was something I really loved.
Karnan - Karnan is a Tamil-language film (2021). It is definitely one of my favorites in recent times with respect to the background score and soundtrack, bearing the intensity of the subject well. The film deals with a sensitive issue of caste oppression and I feel that the music adds really well to the story, specifically incorporating local cultural elements, therefore making a statement about the lives of the people it revolves around.
Theme Song:
I don’t have a song but I have a theme ‘mixtape’, that I listen to almost every night. It has seven songs but they all act as different parts of one song, very seamlessly connected to one and other. I love how it can be described as a persona in itself but also an intimate part of a whole. I use it to centre myself mentally, thus making it a very important part of who I am.
It is: Mono by RM

butterfly, daylight, euphoric, glow, love, spooky, velvet?? :)
first of all.
you're amazing.
butterfly; dream destination?
ive always wanted to visit Paris. there's an air of passion in every art that floats around. But i'll admit, it might change due to what's been happening there :(
daylight; favorite album of all time?
i usually have two answers for this, since i listen to kpop as well. But i would choose the album mono by RM. the songs are soulful and they speak to me.
euphoric; talk about someone you love
There is a special type of love that came with her, a love that was platonic but no less powerful. Love has different meanings. To me, Love is remembering the little things, love is asking me how i've been, love is comforting me and seeing the signs i desperately want people to see. Love is inspiring. Love is changing. Love is building confidence and giving me room to grow. Love is respect. Love is telling me how it is without invalidating my feelings. Love is trust. She did all of that. maybe she doesn't know, but she did all of that. She gave me room to grow, to branch out, to inspire and let me find what i want to do. She supported me and continues to support me in matters that she isn't even involved with. i don't think i'll find someone like her anywhere else, but i'd like everyone to have someone in their lives who are the reason they got better. The reason they're here and doing what they're doing. she revived the love in my heart which i kept giving away. she knows who she is, cause i know she'll see this.
glow; list the top 5 things you like about yourself
my emotional intelligence, it's pretty high and it helps me help other people and understand them better.
my ability to write, or to share emotions just by a couple of words. Writers to me, are like architects of language and imagination.
my ability to psychoanalyze people and situations.
my imagination. (it's debatable at times)
my ability to let myself grow and become a better person than i was the day before.
love; what is your favorite season and why?
Where i live there are only two seasons lmfao. One is summer and the other is winter; in which winter is just cold winds and cold nights, no snow or anything like that.
I'd have to say winter. Because the weather always varies, and sometimes it rains more often than not. I look forward to rain and rainy days, it's a moment where the pitter patter of rain against the concrete are a demand that we stop and savor their sound, like a mandatory moment of peace.
spooky; sunrise or sunset?
sunrise. it's a beautiful and silent wake up call for the world.
velvet; are you an early bird or a night owl?
Both? my body doesn't let me get a lot of sleep, but it's mostly Night owl. Seeing as i'm answering this at the dark hours of the morning
