You are 10000% correct. My brain just can not picture Frank not in jeans/tac pants and combat boots even to sleep. That man in shorts and barefoot in the sand? Nahhh

I'm sure he went with his kids cause Brighton Beach and such isn't a far hop skip from Queens. But he only did it because he loved making family memories.

Also the parts of Iraq and Afghanistan he was stationed in were probably pretty remote and mostly a sandy/dirt terrain so he grew to absolutely hate it from his time in the Marines. It ended up in all his gear, in his cot on base, his guns and other equipment had to be cleaned way more often to get it out. (I know these countries are diverse in landscape and not all desert, but just stories I've heard from vets that served there was they were never in the big cities and always in remote places like this and all there was to look at on any given day was dirt, rocks, and sand.)

You'd really have to beg and plead to get him to join you for a beach day or god forbid a vacation. If it was just a day at one of the beaches easily accessible from the city, he would go but stay in his jeans and combat boots the whole time and just stand and watch you. Frank's face is always stoic, so you never know what he's thinking, but there's a certain edge to it and you know he's grumpy but trying to hide it to not ruin your good time. He gets close to the water to watch you swim and be close for safety reasons, but never even lets it touch his toes. And for days after you can hear him grumbling about finding more sand on things and in his truck. He also doesn't give me vibes of a guy who has any kind of body/skin care routine that isn't a 21 in 1 shampoo, so he doesn't sunscreen his face or body and then you also have to listen to him bitch for days while his sunburn peels. He never complains about the pain from any injuries he gets when he's out Punishering, but he's being whiney about sunburn? You betcha.

And a few days at a beach location for a vacation? Forget it. To quote Curtis, Frank hates "just standing still, that's why you're always looking for a fight, any excuse to keep moving." Frank is down for any vacation to a big city that involves lots of sight seeing and go go going, but to get him to just sit on a beach for a few days and just relax? He'd be on your nerves in less than an hour. Fidgeting in his chair, bored with his book, huffing and licking his lips as he looks around. Coupled with the sand in everything... Yeah it really tests your relationship since he's so damn cranky the whole time.

“Five..” A sob leaves your lips. “Five fucking years and you do this to me?” 

“...” Cove’s lip quivers but he remains silent. 

“Cove,” You hissed, pure venom now leaking into your tone as the man silently weeps. “Say something.”

No response.

“COVE!” You shout, pain and anger fill your thoughts as you wait for Cove’s response for his horrible cheating.

“You think you’re so innocent don’t you?” Cove growled, eyes narrowing from your claims. Even though they were true. He doesn’t feel bad, but he feels like he should. “You’ve also been cheating behind my back!” 

“Accusations!” You shout, slamming your fist on the table you both sat at. “False! You don’t have proof!” 

“Uh guys..?” A voice begins before being interrupted. 

“Oh don’t give me that!” Cove huffs and crosses his arms, turning his head away. “It’s obvious that you’ve been hiding some cards so you could win!”

Letting out a dramatic gasp, you slam your palm flat against your chest. “How dare you!” 

“Guys can we just-” A different voice tries getting a say in the conversion before once again getting interrupted by the arguing couple.

“I have been loyal to the game!” Shoving a finger into Cove’s chest, you poke him with every word you say. “How do I know that you haven’t been doing that?” 

Cove clicks his tongue before leaning over and towering over you. “Do you have any proof that I did?” 

Sweating a bit from his height, you don’t back down. Cove smirks and leans even closer, nose brushing against yours. Lips dangerously close. 

“You probably shoved them up your ass!” You barked, cheeks red and lips wobbling in anticipation from the awaiting kiss. 

Both you and Cove stay in that position, eyes locked onto one another and just when you’re apart to close the gap, you get interrupted this time.

“GUYS!” 

Your gazes are ripped from each other and now onto the culprit who interrupted your wholesome moment. 

There stood your sister, Lizzie, her face red from anger and the tapping of her foot finally brought you to the situation you and Cove started. Next to her was your cousin, Lee, who held Uno cards in her hand. Your sister also had cards. 

“Are you both done?” Lizzie asked, annoyed. 

You pull away from the close proximity of Cove, blushing as you had forgotten you had an audience. Cove was the same, face red as he looked at his surroundings to avoid any eye contact.

He should be having so many more emotions! The suits they send him to space in should be way more traumatizing for even more reasons! As they head to the stage Y/N starts to run a little to see ONCE as soon as she can, the unnies can feel that something is wrong but they can't place what it is since they're smiling like the whipped moms they're.

Well, that didn't go the way they planned...

Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon being the fastest got there and tried to save their maknae still they couldn't get there in time. Y/N fell backwards in a way that hit her ankle hard, the members helped her up and asked multiple questions, mostly wanting to know if she was okay and she answered she was, but after some seconds she started to feel the effects of the fall but she didn't let the unnies know so she could see ONCE. When DTNA started playing she knew it was the end for her, with a cry she fell on the floor crying of pain.

Jihyo - WTH Y/N you told us you're fine.

Y/N - I lied, I'm sorry unnie but it hurts so bad *sobs*

these headcanons will have four parts ( in that same post) : garison, Castle of lions, road to earth and post-season 8.

A/N: I decided to not talk about the symptoms that she might have during her period and to talk about things that happened while she had her period. (and how she handled it into space)

Garrison:

When Pidge pretending to be a guy at the garrison, She obviously had her bag full of pads because duh.

Her roommates was obviously a guy and one day, her bag fell in the ground and a few pads came out of her bag. He asked her about it but she said that it was her "girlfriend's" pads. He was sceptical but didn't ask more questions.

Hunk found the pads too when he was searching for chocolate in her bag and she said the same. (that's why when Hunk found the pic of Pidge and Matt, he thought it was a pic of her "girlfriend".)

at some point, she was out of pads. Her only way to get some was to sneak in the infirmary to steal some but unfortunately, she got caught by a nurse.

nurse: What are you doing here? Pidge: HUUUUH...I... My girlfriend told be that she needed pads!.. She asked me to get her some here but I didn't see you, so... nurse: awww, what a sweet boy, there, pads for your girlfriend. pidge: pidge: Can I have painkillers too?

The nurse gave her painkillers too.

Sometimes, Pidge would have a quick cramp while she is walking with Hunk and Lance and would randomly curl up on theh ground. Hunk would end up carrying her and telling her that she needs to go to the infirmary. She would always REFUSE.

She woke up with her sheets stained with blood. Her roommate saw it. well.

She told him the truth and he helped her to get some clean sheets.

He kept her secret.

Castle of lions:

When she arrived at the castle of lion and finally got in her room, it came to her mind: HOW IS SHE GOING TO GET PADS?!

SHE HAD LEFT HER PADS IN HER ROOM AT THE GARRISON BECAUSE NOW THAT HER ROOMMATE KNEW, SHE COULD JUST LET HER PADS IN THE ROOM.

SHE ONLY HAD THREE PADS IN HER BAG? HELP.

She figured that she'd have to use toilet paper. *sigh*

When she finally told that she was a girl to her team, she then had a talk with Allura to know if she had pads... But:

Pidge: Allura... I need to ask you something... Allura: Yes? Pidge: I had a question about period... How were girls dealing with it on Altea. Allura: Period? pidge: Wait-

Pidge explained to Allura what periods were. Allura shivered: "How could you lose blood from your... EW. Humans are so strange..."

they both tried to find an alternative to pads or tampons...

they found something, better than pads. It was something spongeous that was making disappear any liquid. It was discreet and it wasn't uncomfortable... She will never use pads again, space sponges are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better.

No problem in the lion exceptthe fact that she would snap at people easily.

When they were lost and floating into space, Pidge would silently worry about her period. She wont be able to change or anything.

post-season 8:

Keith was now her boyfriend and, whenever he would come back to earh and she would be on her period, he would be the best boyfriend:

cuddles to forget about the pain.

He found a specific way to make the pain go away: by gently caressing the lower part of her tum with the tip of his fingers.

she would snap at him easily but he would try to not mind.

she would also become a cuddly one... Depends on the day.

Keith panics whenever she tells him that her period is late.

the shitification of cheeky angel’s greatest arc: ichiro bomb

the start of a small series dedicated to kicking and spitting on the anime adaptation of takao gakusan’s game.

today i’ll be exploring “ichiro bomb”, a scene from episode 48, and chapter 176/177. spoilers ahead.

in the anime, fujiki, wearing a bomb vest and a carrying a float, runs away from megu-dan. he jumps into a waterfall, then is saved by yoshimi.

where did the helicopter even come from?? there’s no tension at all because of the absurdity of it all. “we’ve been following you because yoshi was worried”, “it’s the power of love”. nahhh. ig it gives keiko a good development but it’s unnecessary, and unrealistic as fuck. i know it’s a little comedy show but are you kidding me? this is plot armour at its finest.

in the manga however, megu-dan is trapped in a room with fujiki being strapped to a bomb ticking down. he willingly backs into a corner and forces megumi away, going as far as to order the rest to restrain her. then he holds the bomb right up to the glass to show takao the countdown before it explodes.

sure, it isn’t as exciting as jumping off a cliff. but it is 100x more heroic and better portrays fujiki’s courage, will power and care. here’s a side by side comparison with a very specific, but important line:

notice how in the manga he says “them”? it’s not just megumi he’s caring about, but the entire megu-dan, even genzo who he clashes with the most.

this is one thing about the anime i hate very much. the way it latches onto their feelings for megu even though it’s clear that fujiki, yasuda, and kobayashi grew past it.

i would like to point out another very crucial action by genzo. take a look at these two scenes:

genzo stops megumi from rescuing fujiki because “he’s being a man”. on the other hand, in the manga, genzo is the one who attempts to rip the chain apart even though he knows deep down it’s impossible. this is the genzo we know, someone who goes against the logical decision because he follows his emotions. here, his concern for fujiki drives him into a desperate attempt to save his life. fujiki also then rips it away from genzo. here, they’re both being “men”, embodying courage and care for those around them.

but the anime completely misses the point by letting genzo say that. it’s not about trust and the power of friendship. we’re talking about someone’s life being at risk here. trusting someone doesn’t immediately increase their chances of being saved.

as a fujiki fan, it pains me to no end that the anime makes him more annoying for the sake of comedy. i wasn’t even very fond of him when i watched the anime. but moments like this in the manga really puts forth fujiki’s development.

The specialist smiles at him, and sits down next to him. “It’s no problem, Gabe. I know how hard you’ve worked today. If you drove yourself home, you might have gotten into a crash.”

“Nahhh, I wouldn’t have let that happen. Resurgam needs me, after all. Even though Eisha doesn’t really seem to think so…” He muttered out that last part.

“Huh?” Hank looked at him. “What do you mean? What did the chief say to you?”

Gabe’s face flushed pink. “Uh.. don’t worry about it, Hank. It’s just some personal shit going on between her and I.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, Hank. I’m sure. Can we.. drop that, please?”

He backed off, not wanting to make his friend mad. “Of course, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t sweat it, big guy. I’ll get over it. But.. thanks for your concern.”

Hank didn’t like the silence that followed that sentence. He knew that something the chief said really bothered him, and he knew that almost nothing bothered Gabriel Cunningham.

“And thank you, again, for letting me spend the night here.” He smiles.

“Aw, it’s no problem, Gabe, you’re always welcome here!” Hank laughs, nudging his side with his elbow.

The diagnostician makes a sudden squeak noise upon contact. “Hank!”

“Huh? Oh- I’m sorry! Did I hurt you?” Hank asked, completely oblivious to the fact that the squeak Gabe made was not in a painful tone.

“N-No- No you didn’t hurt me.. you uh- you just startled me.”

The specialist looks at his friend, and sees the embarrassed flush on his face. “Gabe, are you..”

“D-don’t you finish that question-!”

He looked even more suspicious now.

“…Ticklish?”

“N-No! I’m not tick-GAH!” He was tackled to the other end of the couch by the stronger man. “H-Hank! Big guy, c’mon! I’m tired and not in the mood for- g-gahahahahames!!!” He started to giggle when Hank gently tickled his ribs. “Hahahahahahank!!!”

He just smiles as he continues the gentle tickles. “So.. you’re NOT ticklish? What’s so funny then, Gabe?” He teases, going up and down his ribs like a piano.

“Bwahahahahahah-! St-Stahahah- Stahahahahap ihihihihit!!” Gabe squealed, twisting side to side to get away from his playful coworker.

“Hmmm.. I don’t think so. Let’s see where else you’re ticklish.” Hank grabs a hold of one of Gabe’s legs and attacks the back of his knee.

“GACK-! Hahahahahahahahah- HAHAHAHAHAHNK!!”

Hank cackled along with him. “Hmm, what do we have here? Don’t squirm so much, Gabriel! Let the doctor do his job! I’m trying to check the bones in your leg!”

“Nohohohohohoho yohohohou’re nahahahahat!!” The diagnostician squawked, trying to wiggle his leg out of Hank’s grip. “Yohuhuhuhuhu jeheheheherk- KAHAHAHAHAH!!”

That’s when Hank found his hips.

“Oh? Bad spot?” Hank teased, squeezing Gabe’s hips.

“STAHAHAHAP-! STOHOHOP STOP STOP!! IHIHIHIHI GIHIHIHIVE UHUHUHUP-!” The black haired man cackled, head thrown back and mirthful tears pouring out of his eyes. His cheeks were flushed a warm shade of pink.

Hank went to his sides. He wasn’t done yet. “Hehe, okay, noted. Hips are a sweet spot.”

“HAHAHANK!! Stahahahahahp tihihihihickling mehehehe!!”

“Tell ya what.. I’ll stop tickling if you tell me what the chief said to you today that made you so upset. Deal?”

“Hahahahahah- ihihihit’s nahahaht evehehehen a bihihihig dehehehal, bihihihig guy!” He complained, struggling to get away, the bigger surgeon was too strong for him.

“Alright, Gabe.. have it your way.” Was the last thing he heard before all hell broke loose, and Hank crept his fingers into his armpits.

“BWHAHAHAHAHAHAH-! NAHAHAHAHAH- NAHAHAHT THEHEHEHEHEHERE!!” Gabe shrieked, wiggling even more. “HAHAHAHAHANK!!! PLEHEHEHASE!!! NAHAHAT THEHEHEHE PIHIHIHIHITS!!!”

“Whohohoa-!” This shocked the bigger man. “Ahh, so this is the killer spot, huh? Good to know.” He chuckles, dodging Gabe’s flailing and punching. “You going to give up now? Are you going to tell me what’s wrong?”

Gabe finally broke, and threw up the white flag. “OKAHAHAHAHAY!!! OHOHOHOKAHAHAHAHY!! NOHOHOHO MOHOHOHORE!!!!IHIHIHI’LL TEHEHEHELL YOU!! JUHUHUHUST PLEHEHEHEHEASE- STAHAHAHAHAHP!!” He wheezed.

With that, Hank ceased his tickle attack and let his friend fall back on the couch, giggling and panting.

“Yohuhuhuhu… are such.. ahahahan ahahahass..” Gabe giggled out, trying to recompose himself. “That was.. totally unfair, big guy..”

Hank only smiled innocently at the other man, fighting back laughter as he watched the diagnostician royally pout at him.

“Alright, out with it, Gabe. Or..” He wiggles his fingers at him. “We’ll start round 2. I know which spots to tickle this time.

“N-No! No no! I’ll talk!” He panicked, then sighed. “It’s.. it’s stupid, Hank.. but.. I pissed off Eisha for the millionth time and she made an offhand comment about how RONI would be an excellent replacement for me, since it’s ‘smarter and more talented’ than I am… that… she could replace me in a heartbeat…”

Hank was speechless, he didn’t know what to say. “Gabe… I don’t think the chief really meant that… She was probably just heated.”

“Oh, no? You try talkin’ to her, then! I’m just.. so SICK of having to prove myself to her. Nothing I do in my work is good enough for her! I don’t care if she’s my boss, she can kiss my ass!”

“Okay, okay..” The bigger man tried to calm him down. “Breathe..”

He covers his face with his hands, trying not to show Hank that he was starting to cry.

Gabe NEVER cries.

“G-Gabriel? Are you.. crying-“

“N-No!!” He shouted in his hands.

Hank took his wrists and gently pulled them away from his face. “Yes, you are. Gabe… come here.”

“H-huh-? Hm!”

Hank pulled him into a very tight hug. That’s when he lost his composure once more, and began sobbing.

“C’mon, this isn’t like you.. *hug* Please, don’t cry. I can’t stand when my beloved friends cry.”

“I’m- I’m sorry. I- Heh.. kind of lost my cool there..” He chuckles, wiping his tears away. “D-Don’t worry, I’m fine now.”

“Gabe.. c’mon now. It’s alright to cry. I won’t make fun of you. You’re my friend. Just let it out.”

His eyes started to water up again. “N-N-No I- *sniffle* Wh-why did she have to say that to me??” He sobbed, hugging his friend back. “I’m trying, damn it!”

“Hey, it’s alright.. it’s okay.” The specialist was baffled. He had never seen his friend like this. He never cries. What Eisha said must’ve really gotten to him.

They sat there for a good while. Hank did his best to calm his friend down and comfort him.

“You alright, Gabe?”

“Y-yeah.. *sniffle* I’m alright. Thanks, big guy..”

He smiles. “Hey, anything for a friend. I’ll even go with you tomorrow to talk to the chief.”

“You’d really do that?”

“Of course!” He laughs, pulling Gabe closer.

Gabe smiles, leaning back into the couch. “Thank you, Hank.”

“No problem.”

He was really grateful to have such a good friend by his side.

Like I actually felt like I was turning around and about to make a change but my life has been epic failll.. what I basically did was tell a story about an ex friend that was embarrassing to another friend... and my mom was like "nahhh you shouldn't have done that-" Yeah I shouldn't have, I fucked up and now the karma gods are going to smite me. But also it's an internal guilt cause it was a funny story and I was getting laughs for something I shouldn't have shared... in the end, it's a self fulfilling prophecy of karma and I will keep finding things to dislike until I'm writing in pain etc etc.

Barbara Walters and diner pickles

“Oh my god, Barbara Walters died!” the Kid exclaimed, and although he ultimately decided not to interrupt the reunion show with this news, it somehow feels like an important detail. 

I haven’t seen anybody I’ve known for a long time in a long time.

A couple nights ago, my airplane codes and I vastly underestimated the weight of our collective past. We found ourselves trapped in a pink and blue purgatory, which was themed in awkwardness and accented with alcohol. Familiar faces came in through a revolving door, carrying haircuts, hearts, and laughs I could recognize anywhere. “It’s like a fucking mine field in here,” the Sage said to me, both of us wide-eyed and on edge. We’re not afraid of ghosts, but we are afraid of their mothers. 

jj made the same Nostalgia joke every time a conversation became uncomfortable, so we all heard it multiple times. dtv reminded me to embarrass sg with an old photo of us at our grungiest, ab played guppy with me, and hj refused to acknowledge we were ever friends. lt told everyone he’s a completely different person now, then drummed on his thigh and made butt jokes about dp. ttb just kept shouting, “Stop looking at me like this is my fault!” 

I meant to make it easier for them. I meant to be cool and kind and eloquent, but I was so overwhelmed and confused as to what year it was about to be that I just kept drinking and she kept crying, and the Mystic smoked while he tried to hook up with that same girl, and their wives made easy conversation while he tried to complicate mine. And I’ve never seen him look at me that way before.

The more I drank, the more I thought out loud, and the more they remembered why they formed their opinion of me in the first place. It’s like when you go home for the holidays and suddenly you’re acting 10-years old, wrestling your cousins in the living room over who broke the window last summer vacation. It was so absurd and surreal that we all just pivoted in painful little circles, cringing, coping, and admitting way too much. 

“I have to get off this fucking island!” I say to cr in a panic.

“It’s magic or something,” he sort of agrees.

“You mean cursed?”

“Nahhh . . . you think?”

There’s a part of Long Island that smells like diner grease and Teen Spirit. It isn’t for the faint of heart. My airplane codes and I are, well, brave. We were brave to face each other again, brave to bring up those feelings, brave to drink that much around one another and to risk everything we are in the daylight, all over again. 

I didn’t get to talk to our Protagonist until we caught each other in the back room away from prying eyes and justified memories. “I see you’ve been writing a lot again,” he says, in that same tone of voice he had in Minnesota, “I’m glad. You should. We need you to.”

I wonder who she’s in love with. I wonder if he’s really read Wuthering Heights and what he thinks of Catherine. But if there’s anything we all have in common, it’s the urge to pick up and run. So I do. Until next time.
