This 1890 home in New Orleans, LA is absolutely my favorite style and you don't come by homes like this very often. 5bds, 4.5ba, $1.35M. If only...

I love the time worn look. Apparently, buyers like the remodeled, all white look, though, b/c this home has been on the market for 275 days. Shame that no one who has the money to buy it appreciates it.

I adore this look. Wouldn't change a thing.

Love the fireplace and the addition of the cascading plants make it pop. Bet someone buys it and completely redoes it.

The pool room only has slightly worn floors and molding.

Love the faded grandeur of the sitting room. The rooms are surprisingly light and airy.

This kitchen. Amazing.

Vintage powder under the stairs is quite spacious.

Love this room. I think that the new owner should swear that they won't gut this home.

Great bath with burgundy fixtures and a clawfoot tub.

The lovely primary bedroom is like a suite with a sitting room. I like the spiral staircase.

The 2nd full bath is cute. It also has a vintage tub.

Bedroom #2 is very nice.

This bedroom is kind of a hybrid- it has a rusty tin ceiling and an exposed stick wall.

They've switched styles and I'm not sure I like that it's inconsistent. Bathroom #3 is completely renovated, even though it has a vintage tub.

There's a costume studio back here.

A lovely double porch and patio outside.

Large heated pool and Jacuzzi.

In this purple building is another suite.

It has a bed/sitting room with a small fridge.

Behind the folding screen is a pretty, vintage bath.

The home is on a 5,610 sq. ft. lot.

but omg no you could never be disappointing!! let me tell you that the night we met was literally the drunkest i’d ever been.

it’s funny bc before the after party taylor made me sit at the bar and eat in an attempt to sober up because i had literally hurled in the grass (which i had never done before, mind you) towards the end of the ball. imagine you’re absolutely hammered beyond belief and louis (khristian) claudia (melissa) and lestat (taylor) are taking care of you. two of which you had just met the night before. absolutely HUMILIATING but god, what a night!

and then taylor was like “do you wanna go back to the hotel?” and i was like “nooo i have to meet kaaacy” all while pitifully holding the armand doll in the middle of a crowded bar.

do i remember everything that was said? absolutely not. however. i do remember being absolutely ELATED to be in the presence of so many of my favorite and wonderful tvc creators when literally the only thing anybody knew about me going in was that i sent ONE singular anon about pregnant marius of all things 😭 so please, do not even worry about it my love

whenever someone wants to broach the subject of why sex scenes in film & television have all but disappeared, I feel like I pretty much have always disagreed with the conclusions they draw. like a lot of it seems like the people who author these pieces are flinging spaghetti at the wall. there’s always the possibility that I’m being unfair, but when I’m reading something about this subject and I’m just being hit with “neoliberal housing crisis police abortion #metoo trans rights algorithm capitalism trump COVID Palestine” it’s sort of like… what the fuck are you talking about lol. please stay on topic. don’t throw a shitload of progressive sounding words at me to trick me into thinking your meandering essay is convincing.

(these are real examples from an essay that was so bad about this I couldn’t finish it. is this SEO or some shit? but luckily I can say this wins out for “worst palestine take ever” because – I cannot emphasize this enough – what the fuck bro.)

I’ll grant that because we live in a market economy, it’s important to factor in the business side of entertainment too. i try to factor that in when I write about movies on here. but sometimes I’ll read the word “capitalism” and I feel like more often than not, it’s kinda invoked like a thought-terminating cliche. Though it’s definitely true that as movie budgets have ballooned, they’re more geared towards general audiences.

in terms of the cultural reasons, i think it’s mostly burnout tbh. you’ve read so many think pieces about why hookup culture sucks, why modern dating sucks, that people are opting out of this stuff because they don’t want to deal with this. and this is coming off the heels of millennial sex culture from around a decade ago, where the ethos was basically “be a messy bitch”. and now a lot of those people are in their 30s, they’re looking back and saying “this was all really emotionally bad for me”. if you want a visualization of the kind of thing I’m referring to, lena dunham’s “girls” imo captured the moment really well. I’ve always kind of thought Gen Z’s revulsion towards sex scenes is in part to do with the association with uncool old fuddy duddies. because the impression I’ve gotten from those complaints has been less that their thinking is “sex icky”, it’s more like… the equivalent of watching a coworker who just went through a breakup get really into “return of the mack”. you think it’s cringey. you think it’s extra. I’m not articulating myself well, but I hope I’m getting my point across anyway. it’s not surprising that film would come to reflect this to an extent.

so, what do? honestly, just wait it out. the pendulum always swings back. it’s really not a big amount of time you’ll need to sit around for. and there are plenty of old movies you can go back to in the meantime.

What a beauty. This 1840 Creole Cottage in New Orleans, Louisiana was a 2 family that was converted to a single family. 3bds, 3ba, $465K.

This is lovely- 1 large sitting room with 2 fireplaces, b/c they took the walls down and left the fireplaces. So pretty.

Love the way they finished the stairs and left the exposed brick. The floor looks original, but if it's not, it was very cool of them to choose wide planks.

The perfect reading nook. Also great for doing needle work, studying, or even fitting it with a small desk.

Great dining room. The old brick walls with the vertical joints are fabulous. Another fireplace, too. Like what they did to it- they kept it even though it's not functional- the stencil is a great idea.

Brand new large kitchen. Love the backsplash and white cabinets.

Cute little counter or bar.

They made a small powder room with a space-saving pocket door.

This area is currently a home office.

This bedroom is a good size, b/c NOLA homes aren't known for large bedrooms. Double doors open to the deck.

They usually have small baths, too, so they made a nice shower room in here.

Stackable laundry fits in a closet.

The primary bedroom is very large. It has a beautiful fireplace.

Plus a small office area. Look at how they cut the writing table to fit into the window.

When they took the wall down to make the room larger, the other side became a sitting area for the primary and it also has a fireplace.

In addition, it has an en-suite with a vintage tub.

The yard has decking surrounded by beautiful gardens.

And, look at this- It's like being on vacation.

Outside of being a magnificently created show, season three’s opening was culturally significant and relevant, one of the hugest broadcasting companies in America with millions of wypipo watching who will have to ask their grandchildren what’s going on to get it, and it’s home for me.

Maybe Mannie Fresh thought he was making another hot track, but I doubt he thought this song would be what it is today.

there's been a family emergency and while i knew about the cause behind it, hearing that it got worse rattled me more than i thought it would. pls if you have the energy for it, send me asks or write me starters to distract me or add me on disco (saniichariie) but pls tell me who you are if/when you do. i've decided to watch the entirety of the tvdeu backwards so i finished the third spin off today and will now begin the second. and then i'll watch the og show again. and hopefully i can read and finish the second tvd book - which i started ages ago - at some point, too, because i already finished the first one.
