In Depth Kdrama Review and Recap: While You Were Sleeping (Spoilers)
Rating: 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Thriller, Fantasy, Legal
Starring: Bae Suzy (Nam Hong Joo), Lee Jong-Suk (Jeong Jae Chan), Jung Hae-In (Han Woo Tak), Lee Sang-Yeob (Lee Yoo-Beom)
Tumblr media
This is a masterpiece in my eyes. I love the plot, all of it. I think all of the events fit together perfectly, and there’s not one point that doesn’t make sense in the whole drama. Its hilarious seeing Hong Joo and Jae Chan’s relationship initially, with Hong Joo absolutely convinced that Jae Chan is in love with her from the beginning, which confuses and frustrates him a lot when she talks to him about it initially. It is one of few romantic comedies that are truly comedic, and its one of those dramas that you can have a good laugh watching.
Bae Suzy As Nam Hong Joo
Tumblr media
Suzy did such an amazing job as Hong Joo. She really does represent Suzy as a very intelligent character that has her weird side (especially at the beginning) but at the same time has many charms about her. It’s great to see the progression of her character, from a very strange individual who everyone sees as crazy, to a slightly less crazy and a lot more normal. After the initial craziness with Jae Chan, she definitely started acting more human, which could partially be because she finally has someone that understands her, so feels less of an outcast. Again, Suzy does such a great job in displaying how Hong Joo develops into the confident, content woman she finishes as, who never loses her charm. She shows all of her human side, especially in difficult times, like when Jae Chan gets injured and when her testimony in the court case is completely discounted. I think this is a great thing because there are certain dramas that do this poorly, but Suzy does it perfectly, all actors do in fact.
Lee Jong- Suk As Jeong Jae Chan
Tumblr media
Lee Jong-Suk also did an excellent job. His acting in general is incredible! I’ve seen him in quite a few dramas now he really pulls off a great performance each time. Jae Chan is such an interesting character. He is very serious about the stuff that he does, but still has a heart, though he seems to hide it a lot. When his heart does come out (to Hong Joo) its incredibly sweet, and shows his personal development. He is really shown to be a strong and collected individual, which is only changed when he’s in the most dire of situations, like when Hong Joo was seriously ill from the poison and also the incident with investigator Choi (Kim Won-Hae). Jong-Suk shows off Jae Chan’s human side very well, which I love. The acting is just impeccable around the board.
Cases Dealt With By Jae Chan
Tumblr media
Jae Chan deals with a number of very interesting cases. I think they are all well planned out, have a great amount of detail within them, and also love how they show the true fight to get the true verdict heard. The first case was one about a domestic abuse case of defendant Park Joon Mo (Um Hyo-Soop). I think this was a great starting case, as it opened up many places for relationships to open up between different characters. For example, having So Hoon being good friends with Seung Won (and therefore getting Jae Chan involved in more ways than one) was a great way to add twists to the storyline. His second case was the case of the cat serial killer who killed his brother and tried to disguise it as a car accident for insurance money. The third case was the case of the ex-Olympian who mysteriously died. I like this case for a few reasons. When they got to the ending point of the case, they started getting suspicious about Yoo Beom (always a positive). It also led to some great character development, a lot for both male leads. The fourth case he had to deal with was that of a teacher and author who killed one of his students who tried to expose him for using them as near slaves. That was also a very interesting case, as it really showed the shear lengths that Yoo Beom is prepared to go to, but also the determination Jae Chan has for getting the job done right and the true culprit caught, even to the point of putting on a baby voice to make a kid feel comfortable and confess
Tumblr media
The last case is by far the most complex. Initially there were investigations over someone who stole phones to make a living. They caught the guy selling one of the phones back for 10 million and caught both him and the guy buying the phone, knowing there could be suspicious stuff on it to need to pay so much to get it back. On the memory card of the phone retrieved by the guy that stole them were the pictures of the victims of the IV serial killer and more victims that died after the falsely accused killer got sent to jail. Hong Joo and Jae Chan then got caught up in an arson attack in the bunker house of the guy buying the phone back and were then trying to find the true IV serial killer. Most of their questions were answered when she very nearly killed Hong Joo, and then was pushed to her death by Yoo Beom but Jae Chan had to fight to get him indicted of his crimes
Love Triangle
There is a definite love triangle in this drama, though it does seem to be pretty subtle most of the time. Nonetheless a triangle does exist between Hong Joo, Jae Chan and Woo Tak. It’s definitely more subtle though, as Woo Tak hides his feelings for Hong Joo, knowing that she’s already very happy with Jae Chan and as they’re all good friends, wouldn’t want to get in the way. He never outwardly says this, only that Hong Joo is the person he likes in the ending scene of episode 15
Tumblr media
Injuries and different outcomes
I actually think they did something really clever with these different injuries, whether that was intentional or not In the show a number of people get hurt for different reasons but the main ones I’m referencing is the chopstick incident with Hong Joo and So Hoon (Kim So-Hyeon), Woo Tak getting stabbed by Kang Dae Hee (Kang Ki-Young), Jae Chan getting shot by Yoo Man Ho (Jeon Gook-Hwan) and Hong Joo being poisoned by Ha Joo An (Lee Eun-Woo).
Tumblr media
The reason I think they’ve done something clever here, is that they’ve almost portrayed the different kind of future changes that can occur. In the chopstick incident, Woo Tak dreams that after her mum got essentially threatened by Yoo Beom, So Hoon attempted to stab herself in the hand with a chopstick (in the restaurant) so she wouldn’t be able to continue piano and her mum wouldn’t have to worry about money. In that dream, Hong Joo saw what So Hoon was up to and put her hand in the way, getting stabbed herself and ending up in a bloody mess on the floor. By bringing Jae Chan to the restaurant instead of his colleague, Woo Tak managed to completely change what happened within his dream, so instead the situation ran smoothly and nobody was hurt. In this situation, the scenario of the dream completely changed for the better, as instead of a scenario where Hong Joo got badly hurt, the situation was resolved
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the incident with Woo Tak, Jae Chan had a dream about Hong Joo and Kang Cho Hee (Kim Da-Ye) being in danger from Kang Dae Hee on the roof of a water tower building, about to be attacked for what they know about him murdering his younger brother. Knowing this, when Jae Chan bumps into Woo Tak in the morning, he asks him to make sure that at the time Hong Joo had said in the dream that she wasn’t alone, thinking that if Woo Tak was with her, the whole thing could be prevented. Instead, it led to Woo Tak getting stabbed, allowing Cho Hee to escape with Hong Joo. They were hiding but found by Dae Hee, who swung to hit them before being startled by Jae Chan. In this case, the dream itself didn’t change (as the blood dreamt on Dae Hee’s hands makes sense to be Woo Tak’s, but he may not have known that before) but he managed to affect the outcome, so the girls didn’t get hurt. So in this case, the dream didn’t change, but the outcome got better, as Cho Hee and Hong Joo weren’t attacked as he got there just in time.
Tumblr media
In the incident with Jae Chan, Yoo Man Ho was feeling angry at the prosecuting team (specifically Jae Chan) for releasing Do Hak Young (Baek Seong-Hyeon) of the crime of killing his daughter, though he was already proven innocent of that crime. Man Ho then proceeded to shoot Jae Chan as he waited to cross the road to meet Hong Joo in a revenge filled fury (after Yoo Beom had given him pictures of Hak Young with Woo Tak and Woo Tak with Jae Chan to make him suspicious that there was an agenda behind releasing him). In this situation, Jae Chan came moments away from death before reviving, which completely devastated Hong Joo. In a previous dream she saw him crossing to her completely safely without any incidents. In this case, it shows a dream changing completely, but ending up with a worse outcome, as it changed from Jae Chan being perfectly fine and healthy to him almost losing his life after being shot.
Tumblr media
In the incident with Hong Joo, a long time dream of Hong Joo’s nearly came true. This was a dream that she’d dreaded for over a year and even disappeared from her job to prevent that dream evening before coming back with the hope that if it were to happen, Jae Chan and Woo Tak would be able to save her. She had originally dreamt that on the day, she would be lying in a grassy area surrounded by trees dying quietly in the pouring rain. 15 minutes before it happens, Jae Chan wakes from dreaming about it and calls Woo Tak, so they can all make their way there to save her. Yoo Beom proceeded to add a tablet to Hong Joo’s coffee and once she was knocked out, he proceeded to take her up to the roof of the law building he worked at and left her in a wooded area, on the grass. Ha Joo An then proceeded to inject her with a paralysing poison before leaving her to die. She then got rescued by Woo Tak and Jae Chan took over once she’d got to the hospital, giving her rescue breaths to help her paralysed lungs. In this case, it shows a dream that didn’t really change but the outcome was a lot better than it would have been. Before, Hong Joo would have definitely died on the roof of the law firm but since the change this time, although the dream itself didn’t change, Hong Joo’s life was saved and although there was no change from the dream to really, the outcome was significantly better.
Tumblr media
The reason I think that these have been done in a clever way is the fact that all of the cases are different, whether the dream or the outcome has changed is unique in each case. It definitely reminds me of the conversation Jae Chan and Hong Joo had in the very first episode after the car accident while they were in the hospital. In that episode they were discussing what direction the dreams that they have could go if they try and change them. The way that these incidents have occurred (and how they’re all different in their ways) to me are like representations of each of the directions that the path has steered off to. They originally described it as water flowing in other directions and I see it as they’re representing all the different directions it can flow in.
Tumblr media
Hatred for Lee Yoo Beom
I don’t think I will ever be able to describe my true feelings in this case. At the very start, it just seems like he is a kind individual, who was dating Hong Joo and wanted to take her on a nice Valentines date and protect her if anything was to happen. That very quickly turns around. That was something I definitely did not see coming but as soon as it happened, his true character really came out.
Tumblr media
You can see, firstly from the first episode and the pain he would have caused if the car accident had occurred, and from then on it only gets worse. The fact that he’s more than happy to throw people under the bus for himself is just tragic and shows what a sly snake he really is. I didn’t think that Yoo Beom hated Hong Joo enough to tell Ha Joo An (a freaking serial killer!!) that she was suspicious of him sending her fabricated evidence (as she is a reporter for the press). To then aid in what could have been the death of Hong Joo. It’s hard to think that these two individuals were DATING at one point!! I think regardless of whether the accident would have happened or not, Jae Chan really saved Hong Joo from misery if she had stayed with Yoo Beom.
Tumblr media
I don’t think there is enough space to list all of the things he’s done for me to see him as a trash person. I think what he did on the final  episode was really cruel. He already knew he was in the wrong, knew that he probably wouldn’t get the non-guilty verdict he was hoping for, as there was too much evidence against him but in rage decides to run over and kill his ex-employee and good friend. Forgiveness isn’t something he will ever deserve after that, and he’s once again left us broken and swimming in tears
Tumblr media
I’ll try and list some of the trashiest stuff he’s done.
-> although it didn’t really occur, framing Hong Joo for crashing and killing Woo Tak
-> making excuse after excuse to make others think that Jae Chan is discriminative again him because of their history
-> giving Man Ho the photos of  both Hak Young with Woo Tak and Woo Tak with Jae Chan
-> aided a serial killer
-> tried to kill Hong Joo
-> killed his ex-employee and old time friend
-> literally everything he has ever done
Tumblr media
There’s a couple of things that made me very happy: when the female judge slated him for considering that a female judging panel may mean that the ruling could be unfair, his reaction when he found out that Hong Joo had survived, but also also when he found out that she’d woken up
Tumblr media
Tragic backstory
The backstory for this show is truly tragic. A rogue soldier escaped with a rifle and grenades because he was struggling. He went to find his brother Choi Dam Dong, but before his brother could get back to him, he went rogue. The police chief saw him as he was in the shop with his son (Jae Chan). He sent his son away to safety before confronting the soldier and getting shot to death. The soldier then ran away and boarded the bus that Hong Joo was riding (with her father driving). Hong Joo had seen this soldier in her dream previously and warned her father that if they don’t do something, they’ll all die. He tells everyone the bus has broken down and puts Hong Joo in charge of getting everyone away. He eventually tackles the soldier before both of them blow up with the bus. Later, they save Dam Dong from trying to drown in a lake because he felt so guilty about the results of his brothers actions.
Tumblr media
The backstory is truly tragic, as a lot of the stories in kdramas are these days. I love how the backstory really plays such a big part in the dynamic of how they do things in the present.
Slight Disappointments
-> I still feel robbed of that original kiss scene, it would have been so cute if it had actually happened like that for their first kiss. Their first kiss was very cute regardless but we were still robbed of the dream version. Their kiss was very awkward, very funny but awkward
Tumblr media
-> They were very quiet about the rest of Jae Chan’s backstory. For example, we are introduced to Jae Chan’s mum but other than the memory of him being told off by her after the motorcycle accident and them all mourning at their father’s funeral, we have no idea what the dynamic was around them. We also have no idea what happened to her after the period around the funeral, because all we know is that he has passed away (as Seung Won told his friend), so Jae Chan and Seung Won moved together by themselves. Obviously this is just a guess as we are not given any solid answers.
Tumblr media
-> I think it would also be good to know how Hong Joo got her dreams in the first place. They figured out why Jae Chan, Woo Tak, and then Inspector Choi have their visions but no insight in to why Hong Joo was the first
Favourite Scenes
-> church choir scene. The fact that they actually filmed a scene like that. Such a great laugh
Tumblr media
-> every time they refer to each other by their nicknames. I like how ‘Youngduk Giant Crab’ is used because of Jae Chan’s long limbs. Very original on Hong Joo’s part. I love it even more when Cho Hee calls him the nickname too. I also think the name dog poopie is immature but still smart on Jae Chan’s part. She really does disappear whenever he looks for her, so the name makes sense. It’s very sweet that they gave each other these nicknames
Tumblr media
-> Jae Chan figuring out that Hong Joo is Chestnut. So so sweet. Though this confuses me a little, as supposedly he knew from the very beginning when he first saw her at the bus stop?
Tumblr media
-> This scene. Do I even need to explain. The reaction of both Jae Chan and Hong Joo are so funny
Tumblr media
-> Hong Joo and Jae Chan being saved by inspector Choi, also inspector Choi looking out for Jae Chan when Hong Joo’s condition was so uncertain. I just thought it was very heartwarming to see the relationship betweent these two at its peak
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-> the ending scenes. I just think its so sweet. The scene at prosecutor Lee and prosecutor Son’s is hilarious, she clearly kept aiming for prosecutor Sin but the first time Jae Chan caught it, then Hong Joo did. Definitely sweet, and then to show us the big photo from what was their wedding, very sweet. from then we can assume they live a long and happy life together

Bad Prosecutor Ep. 12 Recap
Tumblr media
Oh Do-Hwan helps Jin Jung obtain the necessary evidence to put Seo Hyun-Kyu on the stand. During the questioning, Jin Jung attacks Seo Hyun-Kyu with questions, but he remains unfazed. Additionally, Jin Jung presents a witness who surprises everyone, including Seo Hyun-Kyu.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
The chairman was confident that his accomplice, Do-Hwan, would not betray him. However, he was surprised when Do-Hwan turned the gun on him instead of Jung. It turns out that Do-Hwan was Jung's hidden card.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Chairman Seo was one step ahead of them. The gun he gave Do-Hwan was empty, while he held the gun with bullets. Additionally, he had goons hiding around the room. As a result, Jung and Do-Hwan were outnumbered and knocked out. Upon waking up, the two individuals discover that they are tied together inside an empty pool that is slowly filling with water. They manage to break free and fight off the attackers together.
Tumblr media
Jung meets with A-Ra, Chul-Gi, Eun-Ji, and Joong-Do after escaping. He informs them that he has secured evidence that can get them a search and seizure warrant for the archive. The evidence is the analysis report on the so-called "accident" of Jae-Kyung's family. A-Ra believes that chairman will move his archive to a new location soon, so she works double time to secure a warrant. However, they are too late as the archive is already empty. Jung and A-Ra intercept the transport truck, which is also empty. The chairman is well-prepared, having two identical trucks ready, down to the license plate number. However, Jung anticipates this move and sends Joong-Do to infiltrate one of the trucks beforehand. Jung follows the truck using the couple's location sharing app. Unfortunately, Joong-Do is cramped inside a box and is caught as soon as they arrive. As Jung fights off the goons, one of them douses all the evidence in gasoline and throws a lighter. However, Do-Hwan catches the lighter and saves everything from burning.
The following day, Jung arrests Chairman Seo. The chairman argues that evidence obtained without a warrrant cannot be used. Jung circumvents this law by coercing one of Seo's subordinates to blow the whistle.
Tumblr media
As a result, Seo's blackmail material is gone, and most people are turning their backs on him. Jung is reinstated into the Criminal Division and put in charge of the case against the chairman. Finally, we see Jin Jung in court wearing prosecutor robes! Meanwhile, Chairman Seo is representing himself without a lawyer and denying all charges. Tae-Ho and Secretary Tae are brought in as witnesses and both confess, pointing to Chairman Seo as the mastermind. However, the chairman's slyness is evident in the way he phrases his statements, discrediting all the testimonies against him.
Tumblr media
Chairman Seo tells Jung that he is confident he is winning and that he cannot bring any other witnesses to build a case against him. If Jung plans to bring in Do-Hwan, Chairman Seo can easily tear him down. However, to the chairman's shock, and everyone else in the court, the real hidden card is Jae-Kyung, who is alive.
Tumblr media
Do-Hwan saw signs of life from Jae-Kyung during the murder scene cleanup, prompting him to call Jung and start their partnership. They also have another hidden card: the sculpture Chairman Seo used against Jae-Kyung. The destroyed sculpture was a dupe. Chairman Seo was unable to defend himself, flustered by this unexpected turn of events. Prosecutor Jin Jung delivered a final statement, demanding that the defendant be indicted to the full extent of the law, which includes the death sentence.
Jung completed his first serious case and is eager to return to work. However, he is disappointed to learn that he has been reassigned to the Civil Affairs Division once again. He is told that he can bend the rules more easily under Jae-Kyung's supervision. He jokes about the division being more open to rule-bending than the Criminal Division.
The series concludes with a scene that mirrors the opening: the unethical prosecutor pursuing the criminals using his usual illegal methods, while A-Ra tries to control him over the phone. However, this time, they are in a better version of the prosecution office.
Tumblr media
In a mid-credit scene, Chairman Seo demands to be released from prison during a phone call. However, he no longer holds the same power as before. Chairman Park orders him to remain silent and in custody while Prosecutor Jin Jung is dealth with.

lookism rant #1
so... it’s spring break. and i’ve spent the entire break doing what any smart ap student would do: ignoring my five looming ap tests and draining my phone battery by looking at webtoons and instagram. since most of my favorite webtoons are on hiatus, i have resolved to rereading my favorites, and one that i’ve reread the most so far is lookism. as spring break comes to a finish in two days, i decided to get my life back on track and instead of simply rereading the comic, i will rant about my most and least favorite characters starting with the fandom’s all-time favorite character (yes, if you check the wiki for lookism there is a poll and it is fact that he is the majority’s favorite), jay hong/hong jae yeol. (also, note that these are my opinions so if you disagree with them don’t be offended but i would be happy to hear other people’s opinions on the webtoon! please comment who would be on your list because i need to talk to more people who read lookism!)
top favorite characters~
1. jay hong/hong jae yeol:
Tumblr media
let’s just list off reasons why everyone loves him: he is well-dressed (even plans out other people’s outfits), generous (gives daniel literally everything he wants), selfless (he fricking took in enu’s pups even though he is scared of dogs), RICH (main reason for kouji’s admiration), strong (manz uses his systema well), and CAN RIDE A MOTORCYCLE (yes, i love a man who can ride a bike). he may not be the most dynamic character, but his static puppy status makes it impossible for me to put him lower on this list. we honestly don’t know that much about his backstory and i am super curious about why his family relationships are so strained (except with his sister, joy). for now, he remains a mystery, but like an attractive mystery. overall, me -> ( ・_・)♡
2. zach lee/lee jin sung:
Tumblr media
honestly hated this boi in the beginning because he was a big bully to daniel, but  he has been through some SERIOUS character development. mira was a big part in this but i feel like overall his morals have changed so much even when mira isn’t around. he does still fight often, but now it’s not meaningless violence as he uses his boxing skills to defend his friends (ex: defending johan during the god dogs arc).
i also hated his eyebrows and hair in the beginning of the comic but like that’s personal preference. however, in the last few episodes, his hair looks SO GOOD (reference image above).
he is second on my list of favorite characters because i feel that his development throughout the story has been the most dynamic. he not only changed mentally as he overlooks lookism more (ex: he is not only friends with big daniel but also little daniel) but also physically as he doesn’t simply depend on his inherent talent for boxing but actually goes back and trains again in order to get better (to defend mira >.<)
in the future, i hope to see more development with his relationship with mira and his friends because i hold a lot of high hopes for this boi! ♥‿♥
3. vasco/lee eun tae/tabasco:
Tumblr media
BIG CUTIE ENERGY ♥╣[-_-]╠♥! first off, he may not have as much long-term development over the course of the story like zach, but we do see a lot of his development with his own arc and bullying story. he was always a pure boi and his inherent innocence creates a discrepancy with his appearance which makes him more endearing in my opinion. the idea of lookism is very apparent in his character because most people look at him and see him as a gangster or someone very intimidating, but in reality his personality and mindset are very innocent (showing another way that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover). i honestly LOVED the scene in the god dogs arc in which he defended zach and daniel joins in because that friendship is GOLDEN. i love how he always strives to be stronger and more powerful to defeat the evil in the world because it shows that he truly cares about the weaker people and those impacted by lookism. in my opinion, i think that vasco and zach will end up being the most powerful in the story (but that’s my opinion)
4. mira kim/kim mi jin:
Tumblr media
pure! cute! sweet! moral! (✿ ♥‿♥)! mira is just an all-around great gal that makes it impossible for me to find flaws with. although she isn’t super major in terms of daniel’s story, she does impact zach significantly and makes him a better person. like she is the sole reason that zach has become a character that i truly admire and like. (although she did think that daniel was the r-word when he tried hitting on her in the beginning of the story. but throughout the story we see that she isn’t really a person to judge people on looks and stuff as we see that she gives jasmine the benefit of the doubt even after the vasco fiasco)
5. yena/eli jang’s (jang hyun’s) daughter:
Tumblr media
honestly too cute for words. like the episodes where zach and mira find her are my favorites so i just wanted to include her in my favorite character list. also, she seems to be a character that really impacts other characters (zach and eli really changed for her ಥ_ಥ)
least favorite characters~
park ji ho:
Tumblr media
always doing dumb things and making it harder for the people around him. he tries too hard to be a part of the popular group and as zach said, he doesn’t really think of them as friends because he just thinks about what the benefits are for hanging out with daniel and co. i think we all went from being tolerant of jiho in the beginning and then hating him at the end. i especially hated how he kept blaming other people and yet not accepting when people were being friendly. especially during the fake bank account arc, he just brushed off daniel when he asked jiho if he wanted to go to the convenience store then jiho goes running back to daniel and his friends when he realizes his mistake. overall, -123912830/10.
2. james gong:
Tumblr media
don’t even know where to start with this punk. very violent for very little reason! i know i stated before that i hate jiho but i still felt kinda bad for him when he realized that james had sold the bank account he made for him. just overall a very intimidating character that hurt zach (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻
3. jasmine huh:
Tumblr media
needs to get her shit(ake) together. first off, she almost got vasco expelled from the school because of her lies. like big! red! flag! it seems that she really doesn’t care about other people (except james) and is willing to put so many other people at risk to save her own behind. also, i hate how she uses other people. like how she uses mira to make money when mira didn’t do anything wrong ヾ(゚д゚)ノ. i hope she one day realizes that her lies are gonna hurt so many other people and then herself.
4. heemin kim/zeus/creepy dude from the boot camp arc:
Tumblr media
sexual assault is a big no in this household. i hate how he thinks that being handsome can defend him of his crimes! also, he broke zach’s arms which made me FLIP OUT. LIKE HOW DO YOU DARE TO HARM MY BOXER BOI. he also attacked mira, an actual angel ლ(゚д゚ლ). words can’t describe how much i hate this man but numbers can -> 0/10
5. logan lee/lee tae sung:
Tumblr media
big bully energy. he needs to lay his hands off of everyone (especially zoe!). blackmail? big no go in this household. he also dumped his plate of food on mira? BIG NO GO! he needs to get his life together and realize that people don’t hate him because he’s “ugly,” it’s because he has THE WORST PERSONALITY!
6. strong contenders for least favorite: stalker girl, animal cruelty cat mom/hoarder, zoe’s stalker
characters that i need more information about to form stronger opinions about~
vin jin/jin ho bin:
Tumblr media
dislike him because he abused enu but also want to know more about him. big bully energy but i feel like he has a deep backstory behind him so i want to know more. why did he quite judo? why does he wear sunglasses? hope he gets over his superiority complex and changes because i feel like he has a lot of potential.
2. eli jang/jang hyun:
Tumblr media
so far, very cute and strong is all i have to say about him. also, he is a good dad like that scene where he put out that god dog’s cigarette? MAJOR PROPS TO YOU ELI. i’m very curious about his backstory as well because it seems that he was a contender for gun’s successor but he changed drastically to take care of yena. i also just love a man with good hair sooo…
3. jong gun + joon goo:
Tumblr media
i want to know more about these two! like what’s their backstory? why did gun create the 4 big crews? why was goo sent to the juvenile detention center before? (look at vasco’s bullying arc for reference) why did gun leave goo alone with the money collection? overall very mysterious and i want to learn more.
random characters that just deserve appreciation~
crystal choi/choi soo jung:
Tumblr media
we stan a strong female character. however, i don’t like how she is immediately prejudiced against handsome men in the beginning of her appearance. i think over time she’ll realize that her prejudice isn’t right and her experience as someone who has to deal with lookism doesn’t justify her immediate judgements. however, we need more female fighters in this story so she is a big yes.
2. duke pyeon:
Tumblr media
WE STAN A MAN WHO FOLLOWS HIS DREAMS DESPITE BEING BULLIED AND JUDGED. yes, we stan.
3. daniel park/park hyung suk:
Tumblr media
honestly, he’s a great character and all, but i don’t know if he could ever reach favorite character status. i just have a mindset that makes me unable to pick the protagonist as a favorite character because i feel like they are sometimes created specifically to just bring the story together. don’t get me wrong, he’s a great person, defends his friends, and doesn’t fight for no reason, but i feel like there isn’t anything super special about his personality (other than the fact that he has two bodies but like so does crystal). he also looks like kim seokjin in his new body which is a big plus.
4. inu/enu + inu/enu’s pups:
Tumblr media
i love dogs
5. mary kim/idk her korean name someone help me:
Tumblr media
strong female character? i think yes. honestly such a fav. she doesn’t take sh*t from vin jin and i honestly want to know more about her character and background. *spoiler alert* i read ahead in the korean version and saw that she can beat people up too so like… she’s a bada**.
6. kouji:
Tumblr media
as a person interested in computer science, I STAN. i also love a man with good hair. his cocky personality is sometimes off-putting but honestly his confidence is endearing at times. also we both love money!
7. jace park/park bum jae:
Tumblr media
during vasco’s bullying story, i was so sad when he left vasco, but i love how he realized that he should’ve been a better friend and has stuck with vasco after all of this time. also love how he listens to vasco and tries to make him happy even when he knows that vasco does some silly things (like planting durian seeds in korea)
8. zoe park/park ha neul:
Tumblr media
i love her development! she still fights with herself over whether she should like big daniel or small daniel, which displays her internal conflict with lookism. over time she has stopped judging people solely on their appearance and she is even able to distinguish between daniel and his cousin! (in my opinion, if daniel doesn’t end up with jay he better end up with zoe instead)
9. daniel’s (hyung suk’s) mother:
Tumblr media
ICON! WE NEED TO APPRECIATE OUR PARENTS MORE! I AM A BIG STAN! SHE WORKS HARD FOR DANIEL AND IT BREAKS MY HEART WHEN DANIEL DOESN’T REALIZE!

Pizza Sucks Without You - J.S.
Summary: Vampire! Johnny gets a crush on Y/N the pizza delivery girl and constantly orders pizza just to see her. What happens next?
Genre: Fluff, Supernatural, etc. Word Count: 2077
Johnny sighed once he saw the mess his roommate, Jaehyun, had done.
Jaehyun was sprawled against their shared sofa, eating chips and such. He was supposedly trying to beat a video game. It’s been a full week since he’s done so. Johnny couldn’t see the satisfaction in playing video games, nonetheless finishing them. He supposed that humans found interest in it since it feeds their hunger for excitement. But to Johnny, it just wasted time.
“Hey, you’re back!” Jaehyun greeted, sitting up and hiding the food wrappers on the table. Not that Johnny hadn’t seen them.
“So I am. How many days has it been since you’ve taken a bath? Or ate a proper meal? You’re too stuck up in that game of yours, Jae.“  He said, scrunching his eyebrows.
Jaehyun gave him an apologetic smile. He figured that his bloodsucking friend had already smelled the stench that he was protruding, given that he had a much more sensitive sense of smell than humans. He stood up from where he was and gave the taller boy an apologetic pat on the shoulder.
“Yeah, I’m on it.” He answered, making his way to the bathroom. But not before warning Johnny that he had ordered pizza.
“Oh and can you please take the pizza once it’s delivered? The money is on the table. Thank you, John.”
Johnny just sighed, running his finger through his dark hair. He started to clean the place up to make it more pleasing to the eye. Candy wrappers, pizza boxes and and chip crumbs were littered all over their living room.
The doorbell rang, signalling that the pizza Jaehyun ordered had arrived. Johnny stood up and fixed his appearance before opening the door.
He was astonished as he was met by a beautiful maiden. He couldn’t believe that the girl in front of him was a delivery person. She looked like she could be on the cover of a high end magazine. Johnny slyly looked at the tag that contained the name of the fair maiden.
“Y/N” He muttered under his breath. Barely audible.
The petit girl shot her head up.
“Yes?”
Johnny’s eyes widen in shock. His mouth was dry and he couldn’t find the right words to say. In the long period of time he has lived in Chicago, never had he met someone who could make him forget who he was. John was the type of person who was always calm and collected. He always knew what to say. But not right now. It was as if he had been possessed by another.
“I… was reading the tag on your shirt. Um, Y/N right?” He gestured to the tag on Y/N’s blue cotton shirt that had the pizza place’s name on it.
Y/N nodded shyly, giving the taller individual a small smile.
“That’s me.” She confirmed, jerking her shoulders upward. Y/N extended a hand towards Johnny.
Johnny took her hand and shook it lightly. He was scared that something might happen to her, as if she was fragile glass.
“I’m John.” He replied nervously.
Y/N’s eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. The name registered on her tab was different from what he said. Her eyes widened as she realized that she may have rung up the wrong door again.
“Wait, so Jung Jaehyun doesn’t live here? Did I get the address wrong?” She said frantically.
A small chuckle could be heard from the vampire. Johnny shook his head.
“No, I’m not. But, Jaehyun is my room mate.”
Y/N sighed in relief. Thank god, she thought would have to pay for delivering the pizza wrong again.
A small silence enveloped the two of them. Just until Y/N remembered that she hadn’t even gave John the food he had ordered.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry, I haven’t even gave you the pizza yet! I’m so sorry I got distracted and-"  Y/N was panicking yet again, she forgot to hand over the pizza to the cute guy who answered the door. So much for trying to be attentive.
A small chuckle could be heard once again, Johnny’s smile was the widest it had ever been.
"That’s alright, I don’t mind. Pizza’s not my thing anyways.” Slyly hinting that he didn’t need human food to survive. Hey, there’s nothing wrong in taking small risks. He handed her the cash and took the large pepperoni pizza in return.
“Thank you.” They said in unison.
Eyes averted each other’s gazes, blood rushed to their cheeks. It was a feeling like no other for John. It had been decades since he felt infatuated with someone.
“I-i have to go. Enjoy your pizza, though.”
Johnny’s smile faltered. A sudden feeling of sadness washed over him. He wanted more time to talk to Y/N but he understood that she had somewhere else to go.
The taller boy nodded and bid Y/N good bye. Not forgetting to thank her as she left.
A sigh escaped Johnny’s lips as soon as he closed the door.  He noticed Jaehyun emerging from the bathroom fully clothed.
“Oh great, the pizza’s already here. ” He took the box from Johnny’s hands and proceeded to sit on their medium sized sofa, turning the tv on.
Meanwhile, Johnny just stood there. He was reminiscing and conjuring up ways of how to see Y/N again.
Jaehyun noticed the troubled looking boy.
“Hey is something up?” He asked, concerned about the well being of his best friend.
Johnny just nodded and made his way to the sofa, distracting himself with the latest episode of rick and morty.
                                     -
The raven haired male’s palms were getting sweaty as he was frantically awaiting his pizza delivery order.
He doesn’t know how, or what compelled him to do it. He doesn’t even need to eat human food! And he knew that it was a 1/10 chance that Y/N would be delivering the pizza, but he took the risk.
After what felt like hours of biting on his nails anxiously, the door bell rang, signalling the arrival of the pizza.
He swung the door open with much enthusiasm only to be faced with a Japanese looking boy with chestnut colored hair.
“I have a delivery for Johnny Suh?” The male asked.
“Yeah, that’s me.” He replied, hiding the disappointment in his tone.
Johnny paid for the pizza and took it inside. A frown formed on his lips.
“Is that pizza?”
“Yeah, eat it if you want.” Johnny told Jaehyun who was lounging on their couch once again. He apparently bought another video game and that means a long week of cleaning for Johnny. But he couldn’t be bothered to clean right now. He was too busy feeling unhappy.
He could always try again, he thought. But it would be a waste of money, and Jaehyun could only eat so much pizza until he needed to be hospitalized for taking in so much grease.
Johnny plopped down on the couch beside Jaehyun and sighed. Staring off into the distance.
Jae paused his game as he noticed Johnny having the same sullen look when he ordered pizza last week.
“Alright, tell me what’s wrong, vampy.”
Johnny hated the nickname that Jae gave him but he couldn’t be bothered to tell him off.
“The person who delivered pizza last week was beautiful and I couldn’t even get past the staring stage. Now I have to live with never knowing who they are and living without them. I guess you can say that she’s the one who got away.” Johnny exaggerated.
Beside him, Jaehyun was laughing immensely. He was clutching his stomach.
The sad boy gave Jae a weird look.
“You mean Y/N? Oh please vampy, stop making me laugh.” He said, wiping tears from his eye.
Johnny sat up straight at the mention of the maiden’s name. His eyes widened and his palms were sweaty. How in the world did Jaehyun know Y/N?
“You know her? How?”
“I have classes with her in Uni. She probably doesn’t deliver on weekdays anymore cause you know, classes.” Said Jaehyun as he poked his friend’s shoulder.
Just then that Johnny realized that today was Thursday. A weekend. He shook his head in disbelief at how stupid he could be. Of course she had classes, she looked like Jaehyun’s age and possibly his if he weren’t actually old.
Johnny thanked Jaehyun for the information and proceeded to go in his bedroom, taking note to order pizza on Saturday.
                                           - Today is the day. Saturday.
Johnny already rung up the pizza place and dressed as well as he could. He wanted to make an impression. He decided that it would be the right time to maybe ask Y/N out on a date or maybe for her number.
Unlike the last pizza delivery, this one was fairly quick. Which made him more nervous. There was still the risk that Y/N wouldn’t be the one delivering and that his effort of dressing to impress is put to waste. But he only shook those thoughts away, he was hopeful today.
He opened the door slowly at first, peeking through the door.
“Johnny, hi!” The smaller girl greeted with a welcoming smile.
Thanks to his luck, Y/N was the one who delivered the pizza.
“Hi.” He answered, nervous.
“I thought you weren’t a pizza kind of guy? What made you change your mind, huh? Is it the good cheese? I heard you ordered pizza a while ago too.” Y/N handed him the box and nudged his shoulder a little bit, making him suck his breath in.
“I guess so. There’s just something that makes me want to order pizza a lot.”
“What? Really? What is it, then? If it’s a secret, you can tell me. I’m good at keeping secrets.” She spoke, offering him a little wink of reassurance.
Johnny took a deep breath and looked at Y/N in the eye.
“You.”
“Wh-What?” Y/N said, flustered. A blush could be seen appearing on her cheeks, making her look more adorable than ever. She tried to avoid Johnny’s gaze, feeling as if she would melt.
“What I’m trying to say is, I like you. And I find you really attractive. And I hope you don’t find it weird.” Johnny muttered.
“Oh” Y/N answered, feeling overwhelmed.
Johnny panicked and tried to defend himself somehow.
“I’m sorry if it’s weird, really. I just wanted to see you again and I didn’t know how.” He was fidgeting at the exposed corner of his supposed to be tucked polo shirt.
Y/N offered Johnny a reassuring smile and a pat on the shoulder.
“It’s alright. I suck at these, but I like you too.”
Johnny’s eyes lit up in shock and happiness. He couldn’t believe her words. A smile appeared on his pink lips.
“Is there a way I can contact you somehow? Like social media? Or your phone number?” He asked.
Y/N nodded.
“Yes, of course. You think that Jaehyun would have given you my number instead, though. ” She answered, giggling.
Johnny cursed beneath his breath. She was right. Why couldn’t he just ask Jaehyun for her number? It would’ve spared him the time and money. He mentally slapped himself at the thought.
A hand wrapped around Johnny’s shoulder. It was Jaehyun.
“That, my dear friend, is because I want free pizza. I also want to see my hopeless roommate here get a love life.” Jaehyun intercepted, snagging the pizza box from Johnny and going back to playing his video game.
“I’m gonna kick him out someday, I swear.” Johnny mumbled, making Y/N giggle.
“Well, I have to go now. I have other deliveries to attend to. But please do call me, okay?” Y/N said, handing Johnny a piece of paper with her number written on it.
“I will. Good bye, Y/N. I’ll see you.”
“Bye, Johnny. The next time I see you, it better be a date.” She jokingly said.
“Of course, I would love to take the most beautiful girl on a date.” He smiled widely.
Johnny closed the apartment door happily, feeling accomplished.
“You two haven’t even been together yet and I can already tell that you two are gonna be one of those gross cheesy couples. Yuck.” Jaehyun said as he took a mouthful of pizza.
Johnny only rolled his eyes.
“Shut up.”

“...You Thought What?”
Requested by an anon. Another one. I love Min Sik.
Tumblr media
You sucked at introductions. You sucked at first impressions. Just meeting new people wasn’t really your thing. Your first time meeting Min Sik was awkward enough. But he loved how awkward you were.
He never knew he needed you until you smiled. Now you got to that point your relationship where he wanted to tell people about you. ‘It’s only been 8 months, it’s still so early’ you thought. He’s been wanting to show you off for quite some time. But he knew he had to wait it out to see if you were in it for the long run. And of course you were.
You met Min Sik at a show. Yelows Mob was performing at a club you worked at, at the time. You didn’t care for rappers, nor did you really care for hip hop. It just wasn’t your thing. You were the bartender. Your outfit was to, as your boss would say, “look good for the customers.” Which in other words meant, dress up for mostly the horny men.
Of course you were in need of money, so you got paid more than the other female bartenders because they didn’t have the same body you did. You looked more “attractive” in shorts and a tank top then the other girls.
You lost count of how many times guys have tired their hardest to hit on you. But you’d never fall to deep, but you have played a couple of men just for a couple of more bucks. But it never went too far.
As Min Sik was performing for his little groupies in the front row, he could barely keep his eyes off you. You were tending the bar in only a tight tank top and dark blue denim shorts.
You often had fun mixing drinks. It was a hobby. But if it was a sport, you would win all the time. He called Gyu Jung over. “Gyu Jung, take over. I’ll be back.” Min Sik said before exiting the stage and making his way over to the bar. Luckily his groupies didn’t see him, making it easy for him to make his way over to you.
The bar was of course usually filled with men a couple of girls when you were at work. You could see him making his way over but you focused back on your job. He sat in the empty stool that happened to be right in front of you.
“Yo, Miss Bartender, can I maybe get a Sex on the Beach and maybe if-”
“Don’t try. Do you know how many times I’ve heard that joke? ‘Can I maybe get a Sex on the Beach, and maybe some sex with me’ It’s hella annoying. Get off that fuckboy shit. Any man who pulls that line can never get with me.” You sassed.
He chuckled at your mouth. “Woah, easy there. I was joking. But I’d still take a Sex on the Beach.” He added.
You rolled your eyes and made his drink. You put it in front of him. “Drink up, fuckboy.”
He didn’t leave the bar. He just stayed there staring at you. Of course everyone noticed, even you did. You walked over to him  and sighed. “Dude, what can I do get you to at least leave?”
“Give me your number and I’ll be off.”
“Fine! But I need a pen and a piece of paper.” You replied.
He quickly got a piece of paper and a pen. You put your name and number on it. You handed it to him. “There!”
He looked down at the name written on the paper. “Y/N? I like that name.”
It’s been 8 months since you and Min Sik have been dating. And it was that time period that you really didn’t want to come. He wanted you to meet his crew. Of course you were scared. Meeting his crew was like meeting his family. They are his family. He spends a lot of his time, when he’s not with you, with them.
You wanted them to like you! If they didn’t like you, you knew your relationship probably wouldn’t even last without their support.
But you weren’t like girls Min Sik had dated. You were different. You were more reserve and harder to crack open. It took you a long time to actually fall in love with Min Sik and let him even love you back.
You were pacing back and forth in the living room of Min Sik’s apartment. “Babe, why are you pacing back and forth? You’re gonna make yourself tired. Is this about meeting the guys?”
“Maybe. What if they don’t like me? I don’t want them to hate me! I really love you Min Sik, what happens if they don’t like me?! Do I have to change to be with you? I hate not knowing! It’s too early for me to meet them!”
He walked up and put his hands on your shoulders. “Babe, relax. They we’ll love you. I promise.”
You took a deep breath and and hugged him. “You promise they’ll like me?”
“No, I promise they’ll love you.” He answered, kissing your head. “Let’s go. They are waiting.” He said excitedly.
You both hopped into his car and rode to the his crew’s hangout. You didn’t even really know why it was there hangout. There was no studio. It’s like an apartment but sort of not.
Finally you arrived and hopped out of the car. Your body was tense, you were fiddling with your fingers. Min Sik turned off the car and walked around the car, to grab your hand.
“Relax a bit babe. I promise it will be okay.”
He began to walk inside, dragging you behind. Finally he walked into a big room, filled with his friends. All of his crew was there. Jung Gwang Min and Sung Min were in the corner looking at something on their phones with a drink in hand.  Gyu Jung, Hwi Min, and Lee Gwang Min were sitting on the couch discussing some girl Gyu Jung met at the market. Mac Kidd, Naeezy, Jae Hoon, Thomas, and Sundhc were on the way drinking and talking.
You hid yourself behind Min Sik. “Guys! I want you to meet someone.” Min Sik said grabbing everyone’s attention. You slightly peeped over Min Sik’s shoulder. Everyone was focused on Min Sik so they didn’t really see you. Gyu Jung looked over toward his shoulder to see you peeping. His eyes widened at the sight of you, though he can only see your eyes, forehead, and the front part of your hair.
“Guys, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.” He said trying to move to the side but you followed, scared to show yourself. “Babe!” He whined.
You slowly peeped over his side to make yourself slightly visible. “Woah, she’s really hot.” Hwi Min admitted. Gyu Jung nudged Hwi Min’s shoulder. You blushed slightly at his compliment. You didn’t often to compliments like that, Min Sik wouldn’t allow it.
After a while you personal introduced yourself to all of them. You took a liking t Gyu Jung, of course because he was the first one who saw you and wanted to know the most about you. Min Sik walked to the fridge to get two beers. One from himself, another for you.
“You’re really chill, you know that? I thought you would just be another girl. But you’re very different. We’re happy you and Min Sik found each other.” Sung Min added.
You smiled. “Wow. That’s really nice of you to say. And to think, I actually thought you guys hated me.”
“Wait! You thought what?” All of them except Min Sik asked a loud.
You couldn’t tell which of them to look at so you looked down, very embarrassed for thinking the way you did.
“Give her some slack. The girl did say she was terrible at introductions. And she did say she’s always overthinking.” Jae Hoon defended.
All of them took another drink of their beer.
Min Sik finally came back with your drink and handed it to you. You popped the top and took a huge gulp of the beer.
“We could never hate you. You’re really cool and chill. And you’re with Min Sik, so you a part of this family. You are like our sister so we must respect and protect you.” Gyu Jung concluded.
“Thanks Gyu Jung Oppa.”
“No problem.”
School is really kicking my ass. I really hope this was semi good or something like that. Sorry for any mistakes. I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading.

Samsung scion Lee walks free after jail term suspended, faces leadership challenges
Local vanity Numbers:
SEOUL (Reuters) – Samsung Group heir Jay Y. Lee left a South Korean jail a free man on Monday after a panel of judges suspended his sentence, a surprise decision that sent shockwaves through the country’s political and business establishments.
Coming just days before South Koreans gather to host the Winter Olympics, the ruling reignited an intense public debate over widespread corruption in a case that ousted President Park Geun-hye from office last year and has ensnared leading members of the family-run “chaebol” conglomerates.
Seoul High Court sentenced Lee to two and a half years in jail on charges including bribery and embezzlement – reducing the original term by half – but suspended the sentence for four years, meaning that he is unlikely to serve any more time in jail.
Lee, 49, heir to one of the world’s biggest corporate empires, had been detained since last February.
Emerging from a Seoul detention center where he had briefly returned for his belongings after the ruling, Lee stood in the frigid February air and apologized for “not showing my best side”.
“The past year has been a really valuable time of looking back on myself,” Lee told reporters in a sometimes shaky voice.
He added he needed to visit his ailing father, Samsung Group patriarch Lee Kun-hee, who suffered a heart attack in 2014.
The elder Lee escaped a conviction for embezzlement and tax evasion when he was pardoned by former President Lee Myung-bak, viewed by some as a move to allow the elder Lee to lead the campaign to secure the 2018 Winter Olympics for South Korea.
Coming days ahead of the Olympics in Pyeongchang, the decision to free Jay Y. Lee presents a new headache for President Moon Jae-in, who was elected last year on an anti-corruption platform in the wake of Park’s impeachment.
“This may be a brave decision by the court to look at solid evidence rather than public opinion. But this doesn’t quite fit public opinion calling for Lee’s punishment,” Kim Kyung-soo, a former prosecutor and a criminal lawyer, told Reuters
CORRUPTION CHARGES
Former President Park was dismissed in March after being impeached in a case that brought scrutiny to the cozy ties between South Korea’s political leaders and its largest chaebol, the so-called “Republic of Samsung”.
Park, who denies wrongdoing, is standing trial accused of bribery, abuse of power and coercion. Receiving bribes can carry a sentence of life in jail.
One of the judges who suspended Lee’s sentence said Park had pressured the corporate leader to sponsor equestrian sports, which could have a bearing on Park’s verdict, legal experts said.
Partially agreeing with a lower court’s ruling in August, the High Court convicted Lee of bribing Park by supporting the equestrian career of the daughter of a friend of hers. He was also convicted of embezzlement.
But the appeals court said Lee did not seek any help from Park. It also said just 3.6 billion won ($3.31 million) was paid as a bribe, not 7.2 billion as the lower court had said.
Presiding senior judge Cheong Hyung-sik also called the nature of Lee’s involvement in Samsung’s support for Park’s friend “passive compliance to political power”.
“Park threatened Samsung Electronics executives,” the judge said. “The defendant provided a bribe, knowing it was bribery to support (the friend’s daughter), but was unable to refuse.”
Prosecutors did not have an immediate comment. Lee’s lawyer, Lee In-jae, said the defense will appeal to the Supreme Court to try to overturn the convictions.
BUSINESS AS USUAL?
Lee, wearing a dark suit and white shirt and looking noticeably worn, did not show any emotion when the ruling was announced.
With the end of his year-long detention, which according to local media he adjusted to with physical workouts and reading books, Lee can return to his multiple corporate roles, including as director of flagship Samsung Electronics (005930.KS).
Shares in Samsung Electronics, of which Lee is vice chairman, reversed earlier losses and closed up 0.5 percent, compared to a 1.3 percent fall in the wider market. .KS11
Investors say Lee will face the daunting tasks of trying to find the right direction for growth and making big investment decisions, although Samsung Electronics, the world’s biggest maker of semiconductors and smartphones, performed well with Lee behind bars for the past year.
“Lee will have to decide which business to grow to continue Samsung Electronics’ robust growth, thanks to memory chips,” said Park Jung-hoon, fund manager at HDC Asset Management that owns shares in Samsung Electronics.
“Lee’s biggest goal for now is to show what is the next step that Samsung Group will take, while continuing its shareholder-friendly actions,” he added.
The cloud of controversy, however, may mean Lee will take a lower profile, said Kim, the former prosecutor.
“Although he deserves the presumption of innocence, he will still be tried at the Supreme Court, which could hurt the corporate image if he is active as a vice chairman or a director at Samsung,” Kim said.
