#NYC diner

While going through my large tranche of New York photos, I found these from almost ten years ago (July 2014) of Market Diner in Hell’s Kitchen. We would pass it all the time when we’d want to go to the Gotham West Market down 11th Avenue, and as Scouting NY noted way back when, it was a place that defied NYC logic, especially its parking lot. Sadly, Scout was right about one thing, as this diner was closed and eventually demolished in 2016 to make way for a very expensive high-rise building.

This is a reminder that if you see something that’s interesting to you (and assuming that it’s safe to do so), try to snap a photo of it--you never know when finding it again will give you a little boost of joy, if also a little bittersweet nostalgia.

This diner had once been a real dining car on a train but was then set in a foundation, 1920.
