Coco Tours Mexico

It was only a year ago that Disney-Pixar's Coco carved its place in our hearts and our wallets, grossing $800 million worldwide and picking up two Academy Awards along the way. The story of young Miguel navigating the Land of the Dead and discovering the importance of his roots resonated with many, as a touching and accurate tribute to Mexico's longstanding Day of the Dead traditions.This year, the film has returned to theaters in Mexico once more to mark the holiday, and children all around the world are taking costume inspiration from the movie (we’re partial to this five-year-old’s ode to Mama Coco). Seeing how the movie has captured international imaginations, the Coco Tours Mexico Tourism Board worked together with Mexitours to create an eight-day tour, approved by the filmmakers, that highlights the real-life locations that inspired the animators and made Coco so true to life.If you can't make the tour this year—and don’t want to wait for next year’s Día de Muertos celebration to experience it—here are five spots that will help you explore the world of Coco year-round.

Coco’s Department of Family Reunions within the central station that divides the Land of the Living from the Land of the Dead is almost an exact replica of the interior of Mexico City’s elaborate Palacio de Correos, or central post office. Walk inside to be transported into the film, and remember the scenes of skeleton families trying to get permission to return to visit their living relatives.

Characters like the fantastical Pepita, the protector of the Rivera family in the Land of the Dead, were inspired by alebrijes, brightly-colored folk art sculptures of imaginary beasts. Visit some of the best alebrije makers in Mexico, Jacobo and María Angeles, in San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca to see their brilliant, decorative patterns for yourself.

Guanajuato City’s historic center inspired the streets traversed by Miguel and the beloved Hector, Miguel’s skeleton sidekick in the Land of the Dead. Wind your way to the Plaza del Ropero, home to a statue of Mexican singer Jorge Negrette, which inspired the bronze statue of Miguel's musician hero Ernesto de la Cruz.

Micro historias del Partido de Vicente López, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Vemos a un ciudadano interesante que hizo muchos actos dignos de un buen ser humano. En este caso veremos algunos cargos del medico Rodolfo Negrette, que seguramente para muchos vecinos y vecinas de Vicente López  en la actualidad, no conocen. El Dr. Negrette nació en 1888 y murió en 1962. Hay un busto de Negrette en la plaza de Olivos, veamos donde esta la plaza de Olivos y como se fundó.

         La Plaza Vicente López y Planes es el corazón de la localidad de Olivos, cabecera del partido de Vicente López. Fue construida a partir de la donación de tierras que hiciera Hernán Wineberg entre los años 1.872 y 1.874. En un principio no comprendía la totalidad de la manzana, por lo que tiempo después, el municipio se encargó de comprar el espacio restante. Cuando Wineberg donó estos lotes, se realizó el famoso plano de las calles que rodean la plaza con los nombres de las 14 provincias que hasta ese momento tenía el país, algunos de esos nombres aún se conservan. La plaza entre varios monumentos tiene un retoño del Pino de San Lorenzo, extraído del pino histórico a cuya sombra San Martín redactó el parte de la victoria del combate de San Lorenzo en 1813, se levanta muy firme con una placa indicativa. Sin duda como toda plaza es un pedazo de historia de la comunidad de ciudadanos que la rodea. Veamos una mini biorgrafia de el Dr. Rodolfo Negrette,

Biografía: Medico, fue uno de los primeros pobladores de la localidad de Olivos, Partido de Vicente López, Provincia de Buenos Aires, dirigió en el colegio “Internacional” la primera sala de emergencias de Vicente López(1912), fue médico de la Sociedad Cosmopolita de Socorros mutuos de olivos (1914), fundó la sala de primeros auxilios de la asociación de Socorros mutuos y filantrópica de Florida (1914), Fundó la sala de primeros auxilios “9 de julio de 1917” de Olivos, creo la asociación de Cultura de Vicente López (1917), creo la Biblioteca Popular de Vicente López (1919), presidió la comisión prohospital que construyó el hospital municipal del Partido de Vicente López entre 1928-1931, presidente del Olivos Tennis Club 1928-1929, socio fundador del Rotary Club de Vicente López (1937), durante 30 años  prestó servicios en el Hospital Pirovano siendo  jefe de Maternidad, fue integrante de la Sociedad Médica Argentina y de la Sociedad Argentina de Pediatria… Sin duda esto es un simple recorte de su biografía. Pero nos da un breve pantayaso de los dignos seres humanos que hacen algunos actos por sus contemporáneos y que luego no figuran en los libros de historia.
