sometimes it feels like stealing valor to say I’m chronically ill bc I don’t have One Big Thing wrong with me just a small cluster of chronic disorders, but sometimes I think about the fact that I need 2-3 specialists and a minimum of 4 daily medications to function enough to hold down a job and friendships and I just cannot believe people’s bodies and brains just… work.

Turns out it was not an error at the MRI facility, my insurance (which is literally the best insurance available in my area as an individual) just won't cover it* That is incredibly frustrating, both because what's the damn point of paying so much for health insurance if it doesn't cover testing, and because I get so much stuff from the insurance company about how they support preventative testing and care but when it's time to pay out they won't put their money where their mouth is. *technically they are "covering" it in that it was approved and the total cost will only be what they've negotiated with the MRI provider, but the insurance company isn't covering any of that cost. At all. None of it.

Oh thank you for thinking of him ❤️…he’s hanging in there. He had an infusion of rituxan in late Oct that apparently might be working, or at least isn’t actively detrimental according to his labs, so we have another infusion of Rituxan scheduled for February (with two more to come every 12 weeks). His symptoms are definitely still present (lots of tics, still some compulsive behaviors but not as all-consuming, fatigue & mood swings, a lot of anxiety) and he still can’t go to school but 🤷🏻‍♀️ we’re just kinda keeping on keeping on at this point. TL,DR: kinda the same but that’s a win for now. Here’s a pic of him before he got sick, just because he’s so cute.

it’s aggravating to watch family members struggle with pain with all the waiting for professions like neurologists which can take a year or more to see.
