thinking again about the idea that gallifreyan would have temporal pronouns that references an individual time lord ‘in general’ as opposed to referencing a specific rengeneration. and how the gallifreyan language probably has complex verb tenses or conjugations around not when events take place in the timestream but also tenses relating to where two time lords are in relation to each other.

in this vein, i love the idea that gallifreyan has three conjugations or words for the concept of “i can’t do or tell you that”:

“i am physically unable to do that / I don’t have the info you need”

“i am choosing to withhold this information and/or not do this / i promised i would not do or reveal this”

“i cannot tell you or do this because it would violate the laws of time / it gives you too much foreknowledge / it’s likely to cause a paradox”

while #1 and #2 can intersect, it makes sense to me that #3 would be its own separate concept or word. that it’s not just that you’re choosing to withhold something: you are bound by the laws of time to withhold it. you may badly, desperately, want to help this person change their future, but you know doing so could cause incredible damage to the timestream. “i’m so sorry. if it were up to me, i would tell you, but the universe won’t allow me to say.”

Just a little rant

SOOOOO I've been thinking about something that I don't think is common knowledge.... In fandom, when a rich character has a medbay or recovery room why are we like not discussing where they store their meds? What kind of narcotics they have on hand? Where's their compounding suite for all the special IV drips that need to be made to order for those with weird biology? WHO HAS THE PHARMACY LICSENCE HUH??????? Who's sanitizing themselves, putting on fresh clean scrubs and making drugs to order? A lot of things come in powder form and have to be reconstituted before you can think about adding it to an IV bag or syringe.

sorry if this sounds beefy but Nurses and Doctors just order your shit if you go in to be seen. Techs fill the machines in each unit so they can pull from a locked cabinet. Pharmacy techs and Pharmacists are the ones double checking doses and drug compatibility??? We're the ones pulling the meds, making them if need be and sending them to each unit.

Do we think they'd trust someone not on the team to be making that kinda stuff??

Like. I know we get forgotten. Everyone talks about the nurse strikes but not about the pharmacy techs working conditions, and we ARE union, it just sucks majorly sometimes. Like NO ONE really knows or talks about how drs and nurses can't do their jobs without us.

Not sorry. They do stellar work for sure but there's an entire field to explore as fandom. There's questions no one thinks to ask! Getting a tech licsense is pretty easy and most jobs will do training on site once hired! I mean I'm approaching 2 yrs now in pharmacy, I dropped out of college... it doesn't seem hard to have Someone on a superhero team be qualified.

chess aptitude isn’t nurtured and encouraged in women in the same way it is in men. female intelligence is generally taken less seriously, and competitive chess is still a man’s game and a few decades behind the times. there is enough misogyny coming from inside the house already. the idea that women can’t compete against men at chess, and therefore need their own leagues, was antiquated thirty years ago. female grandmasters have been pushing for all coed leagues as the standard for decades.

I do plan on putting out a fourth part to Keeping It Close To The Chest!

I also decided to post it to Ao3 but wanted to go over it again before I do. Soooo I plan on posting that version here too when it's 'done', somethings will for sure be different and added, a timeline better established, I might push the age they split up since, well, I have a few distinct memories from that age but they aren't very detailed? so I started feelin a little iffy on if five was a believable age to remember stuff so clearly. I mean, They ARE Al Ghuls, and both wicked smart sooo I guess thats TBD.

I also have a few prompts I'm working on with all those batfam and twin goodness so be on the lookout for those!

Seriously I didn't expect so many people to see these and you all are so nice! It's been really encouraging. I can't thank you guys enough. I've always wanted to post my writing and in the past was so focused on what other people would think I never did. The Cursed Holiday season came and I wanted to do something for me this year and this was it. Every note, every reblog, every tag makes my heart swell and I try (and fail) not to tear up. It truly was a good decision, thank you for the positive reinforcement.
