I say this as a Godzilla stan: They could have left Godzilla out of New Empire and literally nothing would have changed at all.

During Covid I marathoned through the Godzilla movies starting with the first and working my way forward from there. There was more than one time a movie came up that had so little to do with Godzilla that my theory was the movie creators really wanted to make this other movie that focused on whatever was going on with the human actors at the time but couldn't get it approved by the studio. So they just threw in a scene where Godzilla and a monster fight in the background but doesn't really affect the plot in any meaningful way. My theory at least.

Is that what happened here? Did the studio execs go 'no one will want to see a monster verse movie without Godzilla?' So they were forced to add him in this way?

Anyways it was a really stupid movie. 10/10 will watch again
