My edit of Ultraman barriers (or shields) from Showa to Reiwa era. They're all defensive barriers (rather than containment barriers).

I like the barrier cos it's a classic technique. These barriers resist, reflect, absorb, or charge against incoming enemy attacks or, rarely, against "friendly fires" (from the defense teams).

Basic as they are in principle, it's interesting how these Ultras form their barriers. (My favorite so far is Arc's - and as the series goes on currently, I await what else he can do with his barrier as his imagination enables it).

I feature at least one form of barrier per Ultra - there are so many of them that I can't include them all, especially from the Heisei era onwards (Ultraman Cosmos has, like, 6 forms of barriers).

Not all Ultras have this barrier technique but if I missed something, let me know!

in a moon brothers world, i think it would be very interesting!

phobos to me is someone who wants all the power to only himself, so the thought of what could make him willingly give it to someone else is fascinating!

deimos is his brother, so it could be a way of presenting the "phobos family" prestige since he also cares about how he appears and wants those in extension of him to keep that image up too. if he does care about dei, it could be a way of prepping him for if anything happens to phobos since he has fate that dei can keep the project alive. maybe long enough to bring phobos back if he dies even. but he doesn't want everyone to know that's the case, so making dei co director is a way to cover it up and make it seem obvious that dei would be next in line if phobos gets smoked

My tinfoil hat conspiracy theory is that Rick Berman had Generations written in such a way that Kirk got lost in time basically right after The Undiscovered Country and died immediately after coming out of the Nexus so that fans couldn’t realistically speculate that Kirk and Spock ever got married after retiring from Starfleet and have it fit into canon, particularly with Picard mentioning that Sarek’s son had a wedding.

An interesting thing we don’t really go into is how, even after the TVA workers have their memories shown to them, they still don’t actually remember their lives on the timeline.

B-15 said “I looked happy” not “I remember being happy”, Mobius watched his family with admiration but no recognition, C-20 talked about her time in the bar like a revelation but one without any nostalgia attached to it, Brad acted more like a doppelgänger who bumped his twin off and stole his life rather than a guy reclaiming his own, etc.

It’s very subtle but it really adds to the feeling of them genuinely being seperate entities from their sacred timeline selves. Like, Mobius was right when he said it’s not his life, this [the TVA] is.

Kepler has those side cracks because an alien threw something at him once.

The space mana from the seal is keeping the escaped nebula gas in place while making it non-toxic with a protective overlay, so the gas sorta became his hair. (it's touchable and you can get comfy in it -)

I brought out more of Neon's cyborg aspect, so he's more human now.

Juno's eye becomes hidden when she's very clam, but it can reappear when happy, shocked or in a mental crisis/breakdown.

Nexus always has their eyes covered. They only lift the hair up when in complete shock or to take a double-take.
