Episode 60: Madame LaLaurie’s Haunted Mansion of Horrors & New Orleans Black Magic Voodoo Photodump
*TRIGGER WARNING* In this historical true crime episode, Nat gives Aly all the graphic details of graphic human torture inflicted by serial killer Madame LaLaurie aka The Savage Mistress of New Orleans. Additionally, we explore black magic Voodoo of New Orleans and even learn Nicolas Cage’s darkest secret... yes, you read that right- Nicolas Cage’s darkest secret.
Swipe through see key images from this week’s episode! Image 01: Madame Lalaurie was a 19th century European Creole socialite and serial killer who for tortured and murdered her slaves. Image 02 : The Lalaurie Mansion is now known as the most haunted building in New Orleans. AND NICOLAS CAGE BOUGHT IT AND LIVED THERE !!!!!!! Image 03: Although Madame Lalaurie was polite in public and even manumitted 2 of her slaves, rumors throughout New Orleans speculated that the Madame was harboring a dark secret in her attic. Image 04: After a slave tragically “fell” to his death from the attic window, the third story window was cemented shut. You can still see the cemented attic window today. Image 05: Madame LaLaurie in the Attic. A scene from the Musee Conti Wax Museum, New Orleans. Image 06: Although Madame Lalaurie fled New Orleans after the discovery of her torture chamber, in the 1930s a tombstone with Madame Lalaurie’s maiden name on it was discovered in a New Orleans cemetery. Did Madame Lalaurie continue her torturing in New Orleans under a different name? Image 07: This fish shaped Voodoo doll and black magic ritual box is responsible for 3 deaths. Notice the burned photographs and pins in the doll. Image 08: The Ultimate Revenge (tm) kit is sold on a Voodoo website. If you buy this you are an idiot. Image 09: A Chicken Foot Hex you can buy to “scare” your enemies. Bro I would eat that chicken foot hex for a snack like a crunchy salted chip. Image 10: Nicolas Cage’s purchased his future burial site in the most famous cemetery of New Orleans. He built this giant pyramid tomb. Wtf.

This has nothing to do with She-Ra but this was part of our trip and I have to share. We went to St Louis Cemetery #1 and this is Nicolas Cage's grave. The story behind it is hysterical. Apparently, he filmed a movie there and loved New Orleans and wanted to be buried in this cemetery (the oldest in the city, opened in 1789). Problem is that this cemetery is basically next to impossible to get into but he's Nick Cage. He's getting in. So he basically found a family through some research, bought out their plot, had their tomb removed, and then had this put in.
The original was supposed to be twenty feet tall, this is nine feet because the church that runs this place said no to the twenty footer. It's hysterically out of place too. Not because of the pyramid, there's another one in the graveyard (smaller though), and not even the size, there's several others that are taller (admittedly with more than just two plots in them), but because it's so obviously new. Check out this next photo.
Tumblr media
That's pretty typical of what the rest of the cemetery looks like. I mean, it's New Orleans. It's hot, muggy, and gets hit by hurricanes. Things don't stay pristine, especially over 200+ years in some cases. Now imagine Cage's pyramid surrounded by a bunch of these and you get an idea of just how much it sticks out. It's even obvious in satellite images.
Tumblr media
All that said to say, I loved it. The tour guide said that a lot of residents of the city were pretty irritated at him for it, and I get it, but I have to admire the guy spending his money just as weirdly as I'd expect him to do.

The most famous cemetery in NOLA due to it holding Marie Laveau’s tomb (photos 4, 5, 6), as well a Nicolas Cage’s tomb… because yes, he has one ready to go for when he dies. It’s the pyramid one… because, of course it is. The cemetery is no longer open to the public due to people vandalizing Laveau’s tomb to make requests of her as a powerful spirit and “Voodoo Queen” (the 3 Xs in photos 4&5 are part of the “request” process). Nicolas Cage's Pyramid Tomb New Orleans, Louisiana In 2010 Nicolas Cage, purchased the remaining two plots in the overcrowded St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Per his request, he had a 9 foot tall pyramid mausoleum constructed. The cement pyramid stands stark and white, and in disarray from the other tombs. Inscribed with the words, latin Omnia ab Uno, meanining universal unity. Some locals despise the actor's potential final resting ground. They say it's not a classical style tomb and that it's more of an eye sore.

Next Generation Roman Empire, NATIONAL TREASURE 3 are Stolen Indigenous Treasures !  Predictions, Easter Eggs +
Sunday September 5th 9.5  5.9 2021 September 5 is the 248th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar; 117 days remain  Waning Moon Crescent 3% Illumination  Next Dark moon 9.7
Really #NT3!  Anticipation is an understatement.  The Artifex, Master minds behind these movies are brilliant entertainers for this genre.  I love the inspiring and moving music, heart-pounding hunt, and down home banter.  But that’s just the spice on the entre sprinkled on the substance.  This years #Sibilla Oracle archives boiled down important connections and gems leading to our current state/ circumstances as a Nation as well as our global relationships and history.
Tumblr media
https://collider.com/national-treasure-disney-plus-tv-series/
I predict that, like so many other remakes and additional installment of other movies, we will see Asian connections, multicultural caste, rainbow connections, men in heels, and masks of all kinds.  I also predict the next generation of GATES in this new movie and maybe even Reilly will father in a POOL boy/girl or even twins. Science will bring the STEM project into it as well. Social Justice and standing for a cause and cure for woes, sickness,
I love this movie theme because Conspiracy theory is the meme of National Treasure.  Reilly brings it with his book in NT2 and why sleep on him since he is also a technical maverick.  He knows stuff and sees patterns while Ben has knowledge and facts rolling off of his tongue.  Together they can unglue any sticky riddle or heist.  Abagail is the beauty and skilled curator needed to unearth the archeological digs.  And the Patrick Gates, the father who lives in the White House, is the senior advisor and the Anchises to Aeneas.
The Gates Ancestry roots the decadency to the STAGE which is an anagram of GATES.   In NT2, when John W. Booth enters the theater to assassinate 16th President, Abraham Lincoln  there is a sign  STAGE DOOR.  That seems benign but I think is a code for the Gates family.  A Gate is a doorway or portal.
Pool is a LOop scrambled. Gates is Stage. there fore...
Loop,
Gates,
Stage,
Pool.
Lincoln and Nicol.
The Civil Heroes facilitator’s name was Nicols and we also have Nicolas Cage. Think of Nicola Tesla’s Faraday Cage.
Maybe connected to Bill Gates as well who went on the Ted Talk stages to open up Corona Virus Pandemic and Event 201 simulation of it.
Tumblr media
Somethings that have been sitting in the back of my mind...
In NT2, trying to find the Keyword for the Playfair cipher, before figuring DEATH they tried the word BARON.  This nods to Baron Trump and the 100 yo book by that name as well as Frank Herbert’s Dune character Baron colonizer of The spice planet.
Charlotte holds the secret in NT1 and is a boat found in the Artic where a Meerschaum pipe of a Boat has a scroll cylinder riddle and key to open treasury room under Trinity Church.   But Charlotte in NT2 is the name of George Washington’s slave who held the map by GW himself to Mount Vernon estate.
Civil War and Easter/Good Friday connection with DMX death and new National holiday Juneteenth.
The Knights Templar Treasure in line with Da Vinci Code movie.  Ben kneeling as a child to be a Knight and thus a Freemason.  Just like Tom Hanks does over the treasure, Holy Grail, at the end of that movie.  He kneels on the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France Rose line.  Makes me wonder if the kneel that Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback of NFL, did is actually kneeling to this same idea of a treasure.  A bloodline being protected
Which brings me to Aaliyah and Britney Spears #FreeBritney, Meghan Markle which has been pervasive all year long.  Are they part of a bloodline, Holy Grail, Royal Blood to be protected.  Malta seems to be a puzzle piece here that must be integrated somehow.  Remember Britney was supposed to be hooked up with Prince Harry before Megan tied his royal knot.  Meghan Markle also carries Maltese blood.  Maltese cross is similar to the Templar cross.  Remember in March/Easter Season Meghan’s interview with Oprah all about feeling imprisoned and setting herself free from royalty’s snare.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is in line with the National Treasure’s theme of Civil War, Statue of Liberty, War against slavery and for Freedom.  Sic semper tyrannis is a Latin phrase meaning "thus always to tyrants" exclaimed by Booth on STAGE, which suggests the fall of tyrants, T REX.  We are witnessing the fall of the Empires and the raising of new crowns surrounding the globe.  or flat earth.
Tumblr media
I hope Ben’s dad is still alive for this new movie.  You know, Angelina Jolie’s dad, Jon Voight.  I liked him in the Lara Croft Tomb Raider Movie, where he was a member of the Illuminati.
We will see that the 47th page (74  in reverse) of the secret presidential book may be revealed in the 3rd chapter.  The Eagle and the Scroll, page 47, is a global Empire, like the Holy Roman Empire proclaimed it was.  The New Holy Roman Empire will crown it’s Cesar with a healthcare symbol of Aesculapius. He will be a doctor and a god.  Apollo’s own child with Coronis (Crown and Crown).
The International Treasure 3 maybe a cure and a cause.
Remember when Ben says to the President that page 47 of the Eagle with the scroll.
President: any report regarding what’s on page 47?
BenGates: I believe I can help with that sir...
Pres: so, it’s Good?
BenGates: Life altering sir...
Could it be so Life Altering that it creates a NEW NORMAL?  Social Distancing?
And why does he say to REPORT to him.  Sounds kind of like a job he has to do or decipher.  A riddle, A Cipher.  When did Ben have a chance to figure it out?
These National Treasures are stolen treasures from Other Peoples cultures.  The Cibola should go to the Indigenous people.  Right.
The Templar Treasure starts out in Africa in the first movie’s recounting by the grandfather in the beginning.  But Ben spoke of dividing it up to museums in Europe.  They even show Egyptian Golden statues and scrolls from Alexandria, in Africa.
Tumblr media
Charles Segars is a mystery to me.  He is into movies and National Security.  Like our former Treasurer, Mnuchin, seems very much in the know of future happenings.
There is an unnamed writer for this movie that I can’t remember his name. I’ll try to look him up.  But his other works are spot on to future events as well.
I love the movies and can’t wait to see the next one, but that doesn’t mean that what is represents sits well with me.
Should these movies actually be called STOLEN TREASURES?  And they honor people who are despicable villains of history.  You maybe rooting for the “good guys” but are they really just on the same coin of tyrants?  After all they are in cahoots with the bad guys in both movies.

I'm going to be living in the french quarter for a week in march for work - any recs on places i should visit etc?
Yes! A whole week is plenty of time to wedge in VC location visits around the work-related stuff ;D
FYI in my list, I have things in the French Quarter, the Garden District (you can take the streetcar to get there, or walk, if you have the time/interest, it’s 2.5 miles away), and then outside the city are swamp tours (which I really want to do next time I visit) and the plantation houses (Pointe du Lac!).
These aren’t in any geographical order, just the order I’m thinking of them:
+ Gallier House - A must-visit, this is the flat AR based Rue Royale on. They give tours bc it’s a historical site. It’s not expensive, book in advance. They also have a gift shop and I got a nice necklace there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^My estimation of the room assignments bc reasons. Re: “slave quarters,” that’s unfortunately part of the history of that building :P but I think by the time L/L were there, those rooms were used for storage bc there’s little closet space in the living quarters, and the maids they hire don’t live with them.
Note: @gairid considers the flat across the street (1127) to be the true home of L/L bc the balcony is much more verdant, and you know Lestat would have all kinds of flora on their balcony! It’s a private residence, though.
+ Oak Alley Plantation - this was used for Pointe du Lac plantation in the movie. It’s a ways away, like 45 min outside NOLA?  Maybe more, but worth the trip! You can pay for the bus tickets and tour package, get there and wander around, there’s food and historical info, highly recommend. Allegedly, Brad Pitt still visits and he stays in one of the guest houses.
Tumblr media
Note: They also filmed at neighboring Destrehan Plantation, but I haven’t been there, idk if it’s worth going.
+ Madame John’s Legacy - 632 Dumaine St, this is the scene in which a family’s worth of coffins are carried out; Lestat & Claudia had been so gluttonous. This building is sometimes open to the public, the last time I was there they had a cool ceramics exhibition.
Tumblr media
+ Jackson Square - mentioned in canon pretty often, you can’t really go to NOLA and not visit.
+ The Cabildo at Jackson Square - I didn’t go in, I think you can. This is where Lestat watches Claudia kill, that same gate is there, you can go hang out in front of it and pretend to watch your vampire daughter kill a victim.
Tumblr media
+ Court of Two Sisters - 613 Royal St, I really enjoyed the Sunday brunch, there’s a cute little courtyard with fountains, and live music sometimes. They had this oreo pie that like… dangerous.
+ Cafe Du Monde - mentioned in canon, they serve like 2 things, beignets and coffee (nothing super fancy), very affordable, and are almost always crowded, but totally worth it. If you go around the back there’s a window where you can see them making the beignets!
+ Arnaud’s - very good restaurant in the French Quarter
+ Port of Call - 838 Esplanade Ave, stardustschild, I see in your profile that you’re not over 21, but for OTHER ppl reading this post, this is a good place for a go-cup drink ~$10, it’s large and 1 is enough to catch a good buzz.
+ NAPOLEON HOUSE - Muffalettas, po’ boys & other Creole staples in a circa-1914 house with a palm-filled courtyard. @gairid recs the SAZERAC (for the 21+ people reading this post, not you, stardustchild) here.
+ French Market - that’s a pretty standard suggestion so I have to include it but I didn’t think it was all that big of a deal.
+ Trashy Diva clothing boutique - 537 Royal St, they have a few locations. I got a great little black velvet jacket here!
+ 2301 and 2524 St. Charles Ave, Garden District - AR’s childhood homes
- (Not a location really) 1233 COLISEUM ST. - where the Coliseum theatre was in the scene when Louis goes to the movies, it burned down ;A; But that neighborhood is kind of fun to walk around and just look at the nice houses on your way to Lafayette Cemetery.
Tumblr media
+ Commander’s Palace, Garden District - good restaurant but pricey. I had an elder flower liqueur cocktail that was pretty special there. This restaurant is a favorite of the Mayfair family.
Tumblr media
+ 1239 First Street, Garden District - This historic property was for many years Anne Rice’s primary residence.
+ Mayfair house, Garden District  - 3711 St Charles Ave. Not really as crucial on my own list of locations but still.  @cloudsinvenice had posted: “Anne Rice’s former New Orleans home is back on the market again, as per this Curbed.com article, from which I’ve selected some photos. This is the house that inspired the Mayfair witches’ haunted family home…”
Tumblr media
+ Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, Garden District - mentioned in canon, free but only open during daylight hours tho!
+ St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 - There are tours and I think Nicolas Cage’s very weird pyramid tomb is there, he’s paid for it, and that’s where he plans to be when he’s shuffled off this mortal coil…
+ Bourbon French Parfums - 805 Royal St. bc Louis was all about the jasmine and stuff, they have great sets of perfumes and their own concoctions.
+ DeVille Coffee House & Creperie - 2045 Magazine St, I just really like their crepe suzettes
+ New Orleans Pharmacy Museum - I didn’t get to go here but it was on my list. I think it’s like $5 to go.
+ Marie Leveau’s Grave and Voodoo Shop - has cool stuff, like coffin nails!
+ Boutique du Vampyre - 709 ½ St. Anne Street, IIRC I got a cool poison ring here, they have vampiry wares.
... A few additions!
@nixsrebellionoflies added: may i add that you can go into port of call if youre not 21 and over? they have great burgers and a very interesting aesthetic. you might have to wait a while tho to get in
^Thanks for that! I haven’t tried their burgers myself, now I have to be sure to put that on my list for my next trip ;)
@jeezycreezysuperstar added:Some of the cemeteries are now only open to the public via tour group, just fyi
^RIGHT I forgot about that, it’s a relatively recent rule, within the last few years I think? Partly bc of the vandalism that was happening, and offerings/graffiti on some of the famous tombs like Marie Laveau's Tomb. But do take a tour if you have the time/money/interest, bc they are informative and spoopy.

Nicolas Cage's Pyramid Tomb If Nic Cage ever dies he will be buried inside this controversial New Orleans pyramid.
Acclaimed, derided, and memed actor Nicolas Cage has long been known for his eccentric behavior both in front of the camera and in the real world. It seems Cage plans to continue this legacy into death as well, thanks to the odd pyramid mausoleum he purchased in a famed New Orleans graveyard.
Cage has a history with the city of New Orleans, having purchased both the infamously haunted LaLaurie Mansion and the historic Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel. Both properties were foreclosed on in 2009 after a tax debacle. Subsequently, Cage purchased his unnamed tomb in the city’s beloved St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, home to the grave of another of New Orleans’ supernatural heavies, Marie Laveau.
The empty grave is a stark, nine-foot-tall stone pyramid that stands in obvious contrast to the blockier, above-ground burial sites that have been crumbling away in the cemetery for over two centuries. There is no name on the pyramid yet, but it is emblazoned with the Latin maxim, “Omni Ab Uno,” which translates to “Everything From One.”
The actor himself has chosen to remain silent about his reasoning for the flamboyant tomb. Some speculate it’s an homage to the “National Treasure” movie franchise, though given that many cemeteries host pyramid grave markers, it may have simply been a stylistic choice. Others think the pyramid is evidence of the strange actor’s ties to the secret Illuminati society. Because of antique portraits bearing an uncanny resemblance to Cage that have surfaced online, the more paranormally-minded suggest that the pyramid is where Cage will regenerate his immortal self. The rumor around town is that Cage has considered himself cursed since owning LaLaurie’s mansion (his box office record does reflect this) and he feels being next to Marie Laveau will un-curse him.
Whatever his reasons, the Cage pyramid has already become an iconic part of the cemetery, much to the chagrin of many locals who are furious that he was able to obtain a plot in the cramped graveyard. Many have even accused the tomb of damaging or removing other centuries-old burials to make room. Yet despite public outcry, the pyramid stands.
New Orleans may not like Nic Cage, but it’s clear that he likes New Orleans. Though some feel Cage is detracting from the historic importance of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, his grave has already become a part of its mythology. For whatever reason, a tradition has arisen of leaving lipstick kisses behind on the nameless tomb.

St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 in New Orleans is where you’ll find the infamous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau’s fascinating tomb... and believe it or not, you will see Nicolas Cage’s unnamed tombstone: a massive pyramid (that is more of an eyesore than anything to be honest). A quick note: you can only visit this French Quarter Cemetery if you are visiting a family member’s tomb (with proof) OR with a certified tour guide. My all time favourite theory ever is that Nicolas Cage is actually a time traveler. at some time in the near future, Nicolas Cage will supposedly "die". But really, he has just traveled far back in time to live out the rest of his life. Nicolas Cage has built his own 9 foot pyramid shaped tomb New Orleans. But... Because he dies in the past, his body is already inside the tomb that he made for himself. He is his own national treasure.
