“Who decorated your tree? A toddler?”
With england and Prussia because as far as I'm aware he tradition started in prussia before spreading to england in the victorian era due to Victoria.
And I can just imagine Prussia absolutely grilling Arthrs tree decorating tactics, maybe with a small Germany and australia running around jf you really want to.
(I'm sorry this lives rent free in my mind from around mid November)
No pressure though!
Thanks for the ask!
I actually wrote a fic with nyo England and nyo wales like this recently so I’m now dubbing December 2022 as the Christmas I make fun of Christmas trees
Early December, 1873
Gilbert looked up at the tree with a smirk, which only grew as he heard Arthur huff beside him.
“Look, I—”
“Who decorated your tree?” Gilbert sneered, “A toddler?”
“Well,” Arthur spat, looking over at Gilbert’s charge, currently playing with— or, at the very least, standing adjacent to— Arthur’s Eleanore and Jack, his tone softening, “as a matter of fact…”
Gilbert gave a small hm, looking up at the tree and instead imagining Ludwig, awkward and little, reaching up to place the star on the tree, sat atop Gilbert’s own shoulders, a fist tangled in Gilbert’s hair, sock footed to keep any mud off of Gilbert’s own clothes— a white shirt, he supposed, crisp and clean and smelling of nutmeg and oranges, along with plain trousers, simple, casual, cosy.
“Perhaps we shall try that next time.” Gilbert says, half to himself and half to Arthur, an open invitation? Hard to tell, even for Gilbert.
“It is ever so sweet.” Arthur idly responded, chancing another glance at Ludwig, “Though be careful, that boy of yours seems so fragile.”
Gilbert sniffed, ignoring the subject, “How about a game of cards?”
Shorter than I would’ve liked, and definitely a lot fluffier than what you requested (though in my defence, its cuz I fell in love with the idea of baby Ludwig running around with an equally as young zee and Australia) but hopefully it’s still nice? I’m trying to get a few shorter fics done because there’s a few requests I wanna take my time on

do you have any thoughts about Wales with the pacific siblings?
Wales my beloved, and oft overlooked (including by me). I honestly need to look more into Welsh emigration/history, but I do have some inklings about their interactions. Character-wise, I think that Alwyn was typically there to pick up the slack that Arthur left behind when he had to go abroad or was otherwise occupied with matters of state. Hazards of being your brother's confidante.
So for Alfred... how about those Welsh Quakers? Alwyn adored the chubby, occasionally sickly, little bean Arthur brought home just as much as anyone. I think that was compounded by the fact that Arthur was so emotionally attached to and open with Alfred when he was a baby. Alfred was a little ray of sunshine, and I think the idealism that came so naturally to him was endearing to Alwyn. Like in Ireland, the aftermath of the American Revolution actually inspired some nationalist sentiment in Wales and a lot of Welsh people moved to areas like Pennsylvania. As for Alfred, I think he loves Alwyn of course, but I don't think he exactly appreciated Alwyn in the way that he probably should have. He was loving and warm, but who in his childhood wasn't? I think it was lost on Alfred how much actual parenting/co-parenting Alwyn had to do behind the scenes, as well as the amount of influence he had on him.
Apparently the Welsh had a big hand in building up Canada during the 19th century, and I feel like that's indicative of the relationship between the two. Definitely won't underplay the influence that Alasdair had on Matthew, but I think that Alwyn was able to act as a good guide for him as well. In a family that has trouble expressing vulnerability in earnest ways, Alwyn is probably the most well-adjusted, and I think that Matthew would be drawn to that as someone who is more sensitive himself. I think that Matthew finds Alwyn can relate to him best as well, as they serve as family peacekeepers (especially on Arthur's behalf), and tend to fade into the background because they serve that role. They're both diplomats who will kick ass when pushed, and I like to think that Alwyn had a role in that. Sitting a young Matthew down and telling him "Taking the path of least resistance doesn't mean putting up no resistance." Where Alasdair acts as a protector and Arthur as a stern father, Alwyn is a role model. I think he's also one of the few not to underestimate Matthew.
Alwyn was indulgent with Ralph in way he wasn't really getting from anyone except for Molly and Matthew, which was further complicated by Molly's long stay in America post 1851 and Matthew's prolonged periods in Canada post 1848. Alwyn is smiling and nodding when little Ralph is showing him pictures of lizards from his homeland and asking if he can show him any dragons in return. I think their shared love of animals was a big bonding point for them, with Alwyn being willing to take him out and about in the woods or mountains to go birdwatching or exploring. Sure British fauna isn't so exciting as Australian fauna is, but it was something to give Ralph some entertainment and intellectual stimulation.
Alwyn is Zee's favorite uncle and I will stand by that. Eleanor takes a lot after Arthur what with the grumpiness, the practicality, the bluntness, the obstinance. That's something Alwyn understands very well having been around Arthur for so long. However, she's more down to earth, curious, and forward-thinking than Arthur could ever hope to be, and I think that Alwyn makes a better attempt to understand that than Arthur does at times. Arthur doesn't understand her, but he indulges her, Alwyn indulges her but also tries to understand. Eleanor in turn appreciates this, and she finds him to be a stable and comforting presence who lets her just be herself. I also think their shared love of rugby is definitely a strong bonding point as well.
I guess the ongoing theme here is that Alwyn is a person who operates off of understanding what makes people tick, and using that knowledge to make people comfortable. He's a diplomat at heart, and he's at his best when using those skills with the people he cares about. Rather than piling expectations on his niblings, he's there to sort of guide them through how best to fulfil those expectations from where they are.

hi it’s me again, sorry, may I ask in the regency au how Arthur’s siblings reacted to the kids? Because 1-2 bastard children, understandable, things happen; at least he’s being responsible and taking care of them. But four?
Oh they were pissed when he came home with Ralph and Eleanor. Arthur left home either right before or shortly after Matthew had been sent to live with them. Unlike Alfred, who had been there since he was a baby, Matthew didn’t come to England until he was two and it was a BIG adjustment for him. This is a big reason why he’s slightly more attached to Alasdair as a father figure. So Arthur already has these two children at home, one of whom he really hasn’t met properly. And then he comes back with two more from halfway across the world.
Part of it is about the family’s reputation, because for someone who constantly claims to have the family in mind, Arthur isn’t giving them a good look. The only reason Arthur really does have a chance in society is because he has had such a good naval career and is admired for it. Typical Arthur hypocrisy, but he makes up for it and they can live with that.
The big part is that they could recognize Arthur was fucking up other people’s lives trying to outrun his own pain. Mothers of these children aside, their focus is on the kids themselves. Molly almost lost it on Arthur the first time one of his kids called her “mama,” because the circumstances of their births directly deprived them of that. Matthew’s whole situation is what pissed off Alasdair. Eleanor is the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Boys are one thing. Bastard or not, they can learn a trade and become respectable in that sense. They can be independent. A girl does not have that luxury. Add on top of that Eleanor is not just a girl, but she’s also biracial. In having her, Arthur has damned her to a life with few prospects. Let’s not get it twisted, they love Eleanor to bits, but they are infuriated at Arthur for the lot he’s given her.
Arthur bringing them home culminated in a huge fight. We’re talking even Alwyn is visibly upset. By the point he got home he’d already started thinking about being a more present father, but they demanded it. Alwyn and Alasdair essentially sat him down and made him actually make plans for things like trusts for the boys and a dowry for Eleanor. Molly didn’t speak to him for a week. Seán kept finding excuses to get out of the house to be away from him.
However, the bright spot in all of this was that for the first time in a while, Arthur was actually home. And the only people excited for him to be there were his kids. Alfred adored Arthur already, and he was dragging a still cautious Matthew along with him. He’d already been at sea with the two younger children, and it was up to him to help Ralph adjust, because it wasn’t easy for him. He had the time to develop enough of a bond with his children that made him realize “Oh God, I actually have to be responsible.” As he realized this and started to take charge independently, things cooled down and a routine was settled into.
Now of course, within the next year he’s running off to fight in the Peninsular Wars. He doesn’t magically become a perfect father by any means. However, he agrees to stop taking such long tours at sea and sticks to European waters. He starts considering settling down, hence why he eventually gets engaged to Emma. He writes to his children more consistently when he is at sea and occasionally sends them things. He also starts whoring around less, and is more careful when he does. It just took him having a Come to Jesus moment with the rest of the family to actually get to that point. There’s still conflict there because he still does have these absences, but it hasn’t come to a head like it did when he first brought home Ralph and Eleanor.

Last year during the 25th-31st I did an event called HWS Redesign Week where basically you could just redesign any Hetalia character you wanted. No prompts, just go wild. Redesign Russia, nyo America, Greece, nyo England, Norway, Wales, nyo China, New Zealand, anyone! As long as they're a canon character with an existing design.
Would anyone be interested in me doing that again? Same dates?

ok so I couldn't get the age order to be the way I wanted and ignore the moms names they're just placeholders;
but here is Abby's immediate family for the bookseller and the florist. François was married to Anne and they had Matt; they got divorced and after the divorce François realized he was Bi. Such is life. Matt was an "every 3 days kid" until he was like 12 and something with the custody came up; he went to being with dad all the time and mom only every other weekend. And by the time he was 15-ish he just stayed with François (and Will) all the time.
Will was married to Dorothy (they were highschool sweethearts who got married at like 19 and everyone was like 'bad idea but go off ig'), they pretty quickly had Jack, and then about three years later Liam. William had some Stuff (TM) happened that made him realize he was gay, him and Dorothy were divorced by the time Liam was 1. They're still decently good friends, even though she moved pretty far away. Jack and Liam always spent summers with her, school year with William and then bounced back and forth for the allotted holidays.
{side note there's eight-ish years between François and Will so Matt is significantly older than Jack and Liam even tho their dads were about the same age when they had their first kid}
I haven't decided exactly but Abby was somewhere between 7-10 when she was adopted; she's older than Liam, about the same age as Jack, and younger than Matt (yes i know what the fic says i'm going to edit some things). Will and François had been together for about 3-ish years when they adopted Abby. (well, William adopted Abby, François got his name added when it became legal where they lived when she was about 12)
{side note pt 2. in this AU François and Will never actually get married due to a little thing called "it's not legal yet" & when it does become legal they just don't bc of a mutual "marriage was fun to try but i'm never doing that again sorry"; they might file for some sort of civil partnership eventually but besides that}
Years later, like Liam is in his 2nd year of highschool later, they get early on-set empty nest do some Debating, and end up getting a surrogate and having Peter. Officially they don't know who his bio dad is, but you look at the boy for two minutes and can tell he's a Kirkland. Just,,, Matt is back in town, Abby & Jack are back from College for fall break or smth, Liam is in highschool he's always home but; they sit all the kids down and are just "we have big news, we're having a baby!" and the general reaction is "what-what the fuck? aren't you two like,,, ancient?"
Anyway time goes on, Peter is like 3, Liam moved out to live with his mom and go to college around where she lives, Abby is back with an English degree to help Will run the shop (initially she was going to be a teacher but changed her mind); Jack is getting some long fancy degree no one quite understands but he's hyped about it and he's never been excited about school. And Matt is off wandering a national park and having a grand old time doing it.
Pete is down for a nap François slides in the room with a serious conversation to have with William;
within two years they've adopted Angelique, she's about six when Pete is five so they're close but not as close as Abby and Jack. It's so stereotypical but Abby was super happy to have a sister FINALLY she had kinda been hoping Peter was a girl but it's fine. She's fine.
And then last but def not least in the story there is actually going to be a future chapter when Abby drags Lars to meet her parents with the excuse of "you know that baby my parents have been fostering? Wendy? well the adoption papers finally went through, so legally she's their kid and legally she's my sister and they're throwing a little party and you should come and meet the rest of my family everyone is going to be there yes bring Emma and Henri"
anyway the age order is;
Matthieu
Abby
Jack
Liam
Angelique
Peter
Wendy

Hetalia Rare Pair Day 2: Comfort
Pairing: Germany/Fem New Zealand (GerZea)
Words: 403.
@hetalia-rarepairweek
Groaning, Ludwig opened the hotel room door, closed it again and then flopped face-first on the bed with his suit still on. There was a knock on the door, and Ludwig heard his girlfriend Rachel from the hallway.
"Ludwig, are you okay?" Rachel asks from the other side of the door.
"I'm fine, Rach." Ludwig sighs, opening the door.
"No, you aren't." Rachel sighed as she sat on the bed, removing her three-inch black high heels and letting down her long brown curls.
"Alright, I just wish that everyone else would take the world meetings more seriously." Ludwig sighed as he sat down next to Rachel.
"Oh, Luddie. " Rachel smiles sweetly, "Well, to cheer you up, I'll get us some room service and make sure to get your favourites."
"Thanks, Rach." Ludwig smiles, "Make sure to get chocolate cake."
"I will." Rachel laughs, "I know it's your favourite."
As Rachel phoned the front desk, Ludwig got changed out of his business suit and into his black tank top and grey sweatpants. Once Rachel is off the phone, she also gets changed into a black t-shirt (which she had stolen from Ludwig) and a pair of black leggings.
"Is that my t-shirt?" Ludwig asks after Rachel is changed.
"It was, it's mine now. It's comfy, and it smells like you." Rachel giggles.
"It looks better on you than it did on me." Ludwig laughs, pulling Rachel into a tight embrace and then kisses her forehead.
When there's a knock on the door, Ludwig lets go of Rachel, answers the door, and is handed a tray full of food.
Ludwig then joins Rachel on the bed and places the tray on the bed in between them. Rachel switches the TV on and selects a car restoration show that Ludwig enjoys.
"I thought that you didn't like watching car shows that much, Rach." Ludwig smiles.
"I don't, but I know that you do." Rachel smiles back, "I want to cheer you up, Luddie."
"I love you, Rachel." Ludwig smiles before kissing Rachel softly on the lips.
"Oh, I love you too." Rachel giggles.
"You are the most amazing person, Rach." Ludwig smiles.
"You are, too." Rachel laughed softly as she fed Ludwig some sausage.
"I'm so glad that you surprised me with this, Rach." Ludwig laughs.
"So, are you enjoying the food?" Rachel asks, taking a forkful of pasta.
"I am, it's great." Ludwig smiles.

I will always answer when calls for Abigail asks are made 😋
I guess this is more a question for you to think about/answer than it is MY content but? If the situation calls for it, I can and Will pull up with my own hcs to give to you 💪
OK ONTO THE ACTUAL QUESTION.. What do you think the relationship between Abigail + her non-immediate family (uncles, gram-gram, whoever else you can think of ig?) is/would be?
Cus I know in the greater hetalia fandom, most content of UK bros + America tends to be from a USUK dynamic, but since your blog obvs Isn’t USUK, the dynamic has to be difference since.. you know… “your brother’s boyfriend” is VASTLY different from “your niece” and calls for Much different treatment
Idk if I just have nyo!America brainrot, but I am Always thinking about the context of her growing up with all these possible authority figures floating around, and how her life would + wouldn’t change if they were actually involved with her/raising her
OOO THATS A GOOD ONE!
I actually DONT see them having much of a relationship. I can’t really see any reason as to why Englands brothers would visit america during her colonial years. Americans were also not very welcoming to the Irish for a good chunk of time. I also don’t think america was ever brought over to England at any point either.
She’s a bit of a taboo topic to bring up around Arthur especially when they were coming fresh out of both the revolutionary war and the war of 1812. So I can see that leading to a good amount of hesitancy towards forming any relationship with her. It doesn’t help that she was quite the isolationist!
I think now they have a bit of a more stable relationship. It’s by all means still quite rocky but they send cards during holidays and are always willing to have a pleasant chat when they see her.
Poor Abigail however feels a bit bitterly towards them. For as much as the hark on their little brother, her father, they hardly do much to actually stop him from being a dick (especially to her). Pair that with the fact that dear sweet Canada got to have his uncles in his life, leaves quite a bitter taste in her mouth.
I can see them quickly growing close to her and being quite affectionate, whether out of guilt, pettyness towards her father, or because they actually care, I can’t say.
She doesn’t have many friends and she most certainly isn’t very close to even her closest relatives.
However I do think she and Australia have a decent relationship! They definitely both bond over being the unwanted screw ups of the family. I don’t think Arthur ever really considered any colony he had as a child after Americas revolution, but from what I gather he might have had a bit of a sweet-spot for New Zealand the good daughter that he refuses to let himself have. I think they also have a decent amount in common which can lead to a pretty solid friendship! They kinda view each other as cousins of sorts.
TLDR: she doesn’t really have a relationship with her family but she’s becoming good friends with Australia! And who knows, maybe she’ll form a better relationship with her uncles when she forms a better relationship with her father.
