This was a very good read and really sums up a lot of the problems within contemporary US American culture. It could also help explain why purity culture has been on the rise as the release of this book and it's hitting bestseller status happens roughly around the same time I started noticing a slow rise in purity culture which continued to snowball from that moment on. Correlation is not causation, but it wouldn't surprise me if the two things were linked.

For those who want the TL;DR read summary: The book is The Secret and if you have somehow managed to avoid hearing about it then you've still heard about its beliefs. It's all about manifestation and the law of attraction (that pseudoscience, aka superstition, that what you think about is what you bring into being). It's what kicked the current toxic positivity movement into full force. And Jessica Wildfire (OK Doomer) really nails why it's a horrific concept and talks about how it just gives new life to old puritanical beliefs and then, in many ways, marries them to Ayn Randian essentialism.

I don't want to hold myself back from talking about things like: the hope of Heaven, how Christians shouldn't be afraid of death, and so forth. However just remember that anytime I talk about those things you absolutely have to remember that Paul didn't only say "to die is gain", he also counterbalanced it with "to live is Christ", which is a very great privilege. Paul himself didn't know whether it was better to live or die not because he hated either but because he trusted that God had a plan for both. And he was willing to accept God's plan whatever it was.
