About the V x OC fic… I love the cottage core vibe! What about the OC? How is her character?

Oh I finally get to yap about my girl… so a little backstory:

She/they (her name is Mercy) has been with me since about 2011. She’s been put through the ringer when it comes to universes, fics, ideas, dynamics etc, and has developed a LOT over the years.

Some of you might recognise her from YWNWA as “The Archivist” aka Death (shh). She was originally in another Ghost fic I wrote (but then deleted from ao3) when I first arrived in the fandom almost 3 years ago I think? It was her own origin in a separate AU of how she became the host body for Death. I still plan on completing it at some point since I know a few people who still ask about it.

I have also written her here a few times as the nameless f!oc I’ve thrown at Copia to adore.

As for THIS current idea with V… She is someone who is very solitary, but who has never been afforded the time and space away from being constantly hounded, to really explore who SHE is.

She is AuDHD, kind-natured, likes her space but also enjoys exploring and talking to people (as much as she hates them at other times). She’s big on the aspects of magick and is curious by nature, but often finds herself at odds with her own mind.

Many have compared her to a wolf or raven over the years, because of how steadfast she is and how deeply she feels her emotions. Sadly, not always to her own benefit.

Omg o14 saint wants to make osiis a poem or something but, poetry is always osiirs’ thing, so saint gets a rad obsessed with making the poem as good as possible, and eventually saint has a bunch of different poems all around the room and his just mumbling ‘not good enoigj’ repeatedly as osiris walks in and sees the mess 😂

Geppetto lands on top of a disorganized stack of sheets of paper. There is hurried writing on them, scrambled, blacked out. There is a doodle or two of birds.

"What are you doing, Brother Saint?" she asks politely, peeking her sensors over another sheet in front of Saint.

"I am trying to put together some lines for Osiris. I can't say I've gotten very far with it," Saint-14 grumps, throwing aside another half-written sheet of paper, and procures a new one.

Geppetto blinks.

"Does 'bird' rhyme with 'fjord'?"

"I think it does, Brother Saint."

Saint hums, brooding somewhat, and leans over the paper to scribble down a few more words. Then another few, and some more.

A moment later, that paper is crumpled and thrown aside between the other discarded attempts. Geppetto blinks again, and if she could smile - she would.

"I never knew poetry is so hard. Osiris always made it looks so... easy!"

"May I suggest a perusal of a thesaurus?"

"I will do fine, Geppetto. It's Osiris' job to use the fancy words, mine is with the simple ones."

Geppetto concedes and remains seated on top of the paper stack. She watches Saint and listens to his mutter.

"Nope, not this. No, no... No, not good enough..."

The pen scratches, the chair creaks, paper shuffles.

"...Bird, fjord. Heart, art. Dove, love-"

Saint-14 stumbles when the door to his room opens, and Osiris appears on the doorstep. His eyes take a moment to quickly study the room, and they pause on the plentiful mess of paper on, below and around Saint's desk.

"Shall I come back later, Saint?" he asks, a smile appearing on his lips. The sly one, the one that makes Saint's heart jump and flip in his chest.

"No, I think I am done for today," he replies, shoving the sheets of paper non-chalantly into the corner of his desk.

Geppetto watches them leave together and after a moment's consideration of politeness and moral, casts them aside for curiousity's sake. Her little eye focuses on the last sheet of paper that Saint used, to read.

"Osiris, my fiery bird.

With power, wider stronger than a fjord.

You have flown away my heart.

You are good at that art.
