Do Time Lords have a beauty industry? I mean do they have hair/nail/face/whatever salons? And do they have fashion and hair shows?

Do Time Lords have a beauty industry?

Not really, though, as ever with Gallifrey, it's a bit mixed.

📟 Machines and Technology

On Gallifrey, machines handle almost everything, including personal grooming and fashion:

Material Fabricators and Synthetic Clothing Dispensers: These gadgets recreate physical materials instantly, making sure that Time Lords always have perfectly tailored clothes.

Robeing Rooms: Think of these as super fancy closets filled with racks of clothes ... though keep in mind that even Time Lords find a whole room just for hats a bit OTT.

Dresser Servants: These helpful people are trained to match robes to any occasion, ensuring everyone looks their best for any occasion.

Laundro-Demat: There's a device called a Laundro-Demat that rips apart clothes at a molecular level, cleans them, puts them back together, and even adds a lovely scent while doing it.

🕶️ Fashion Trends

Trends on Gallifrey are very slow, changing only every few millennia.

Layers and Bright Fabrics: More layers and brighter colours usually mean higher status. Simpler attire can be a sign of solidarity among the lower classes of Gallifrey.

Silver Makeup: This is usually for the higher classes and senior Time Lords, who have a habit of applying silver makeup to their cheeks, eyes and lips.

👠 House Tracolix: The Fashionistas of Gallifrey

One house stands out for its love of fashion: House Tracolix. Known for its ambition and adaptability, it often exploits societal changes like fashion trends. The people of this House are also noted to be arrogant and reckless. So they're basically just like those preppy kids you spent your school life avoiding.

💇‍♀️ Fashion and Hair Shows

Traditional fashion and hair shows might not be common on Gallifrey, given their slow-changing styles and reliance on technology. But who knows? Houses like Tracolix might throw a grand fashion show occasionally, just for fun.

In summary, while Time Lords don’t have a beauty industry like humans, they've got the tech to keep themselves looking sharp and there is some importance attached to fashion.

A beginner’s guide to symphonic metal in 5 albums

Few genres do grandiose like symphonic metal. As the name suggests, it marries the scope and ambition of classical music to the power of metal. The result is orchestral, opulent and sometimes OTT, but it’s a hard heart that is completely resistant to it.

The seeds of the sound were sown in the 80s, when diverse trailblazers such as Celtic Frost and Savatage began incorporating orchestral instruments into their music. But it began to accelerate in the late 1990s, with bands such as Therion, Nightwish, Within Temptation and cult favourites Haggard began to properly fuse the two genres.

Today, symphonic metal has become an unlikely commercial force. Nightwish and Within Temptation are festival headliners, while a constant stream of newer bands have emerged in their wake. For anyone who is new to this grandest of genres, these are the five albums to start with.   

Therion – Secret Of The Runes (2001)

Therion remain the original and – the purists would have you believe – the best of all the symphonic metal acts. Named in honour of Celtic Frost’s second album To Mega Therion, the Swedes have been led by multi-instrumentalist Christofer Johnsson since 1987. While others have prospered by ‘sexing-up’ the genre’s principles, the Therion experience remains a pure one – sackcloth and ashes, almost. Take our word, it’s a beautiful thing.

After Forever – Decipher (2001)

The second album from this pioneering and much-missed Dutch outfit, who ran from 1995 to 2009, Decipher employed live classical instruments and a full choir to complement the stirring soprano delivery of Floor Jansen (now, of course, with Nightwish). Soon afterwards Mark Jansen quit, taking his growled co-vocals along to the guitarist’s next band of note, Epica. The album’s grandiose arrangements still sound masterful today.

Within Temptation – The Silent Force (2004)

Although you’re likely to be distracted by the captivating strength of Sharon den Adel’s upfront vocal dynamism, Within Temptation’s symphonic aspirations reached their most querulously romantic apex on this goosebump-inducing masterwork of the form. Although the guitars were louder and crunchier than on 2000’s Mother Earth, and the open- hearted pop savvy was at full widescreen pelt, this 2004 follow-up confirmed the band’s special affinity for wizardly orchestral bombast, here performed by the Ego Works Session Orchestra, under the noted Russian conductor Felix Korobov.

Epica – The Quantum Enigma (2014)

Formed by former After Forever guitarist Mark Jansen, Epica played a crucial part in the development of symphonic metal via a string of consistently impressive releases, but with The Quantum Enigma – their sixth studio record – the Dutch band raised the bar to a whole different level, hiring a live chamber choir and a string orchestra to enhance a collection of tunes that is uniformly strong. Throw in the soaring vocals of flame-haired mezzo-soprano  Simone Simons and the results are seismic.

Nightwish – Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015)

You could pick anything from 2000’s Wishmaster onwards, but the Finns’ first album with Floor Jansen represents Peak Nightwish in terms of a grandiosity. A high-concept exploration of evolutionary science, featuring narration from scientist Richard Dawkins, it’s an absolute triumph. From the full-pelt throttle of Shudder Before The Beautiful and cinematic bombast of Weak Fantasy to the  life affirming anthemia of Alpenglow, it’s a constant stream of brilliance. Then there’s The Greatest Show On Earth, a 25-minute show-stopper most bands could only dream of writing. It’s no surprise this was the record that turned Nightwish into festival and arena headliners.

Vidéki horror

Időnként előfordulnak olyan esememények amelyek egy kívülálló számára teljes képtelenségnek, hihetetlennek hangzanak pedig valóban megtörténtek és igazak. A következő sztorit én magam is megdöbbenten hallgatnám és talán el sem hinném ha nem velünk történt volna meg. A sztori hangulata miatt ezúttal egy kicsit “nyersebben” fogalmazok, pont úgy ahogyan az valóban történt. Talán 2000 vagy 2001 nyarán kaptam egy felkérést hogy Baján kellene festenünk egy diszkóban de este és élőben, kb egy live graffiti show-t nyomjunk vagy ilyesmi. Akkoriban még sokat lógtunk együtt Clor Laci ( Később Guide , Techno néven )  és Mar Ricsi barátaimmal, régi OMC-s csoporttársaimmal és ezzel egy időben lett kedves barátom és fújóstársam Raska ( Tish76 - PNC, GRW ) hiszen addigra már a számomra etalon szupercsapat a GRW ( Gremlins of the Railways) tagja voltam . Kocsiba ültünk hát, Clor vezetett, Raska, Mar és talán még valaki ( lehet hogy Stick Laci?) és irány Baja. Akkor még nem volt arra autópálya és Baja akkor sokkal messzebnek tűnt, úgy éreztük a világvégén vagyunk és végül a show is elég bénácska volt. A Diszkó nem volt túl klassz hely, kevesen voltak, maradékokból festettünk valami szarokat, az egésznek volt egy kényelmetlen hangulata úgyhogy dolgunk végeztével gyorsan felvettük a pénzünket és leléptünk. Kitaláltuk hogy hazafelé elmegyünk a siófoki mekibe kajálni (!). Tök ismeretlen kis utakon mentünk éjszaka és közben egy elképesztő vihar kapott el minket. Ömlő esőben, vánszorogva, lakatlan mezőgazdasági területek között haladtunk vagy egy órát mire a vihar  valamivel alábhagyott és csak esett. Ekkor utunk egy klaszikus vidéki úton haladt át, az út két oldalán kukorica meg napraforgóföldek, az utat pedig magas nyárfák hosszú sora szegélyezi. Hülyéskedünk, dumálunk, egyszercsak egy kanyarban a fényszórónk rávilágított két fa között egy kisgyerekre, aki mintha épp akkor a kukoricatáblából lépett volna elő. Mozdulatlanul állt és felénk nézett. Lelassítottunk. Ott állt előttünk a rohadtnagy semmi közepén, két fa között egy kb 8 éves forma gyerek, teljesen egyedül, éjjel, esőben, mozdulatlanul áll és felénk néz, háta mögött sötéten hullámzó kukoricatáblával. Az egész néhány másodperc volt de annyira freak hogy hamar valamelyikünk megszólalt hogy “húzzunk már el innen”. Clor beletaposott a gázba. Meglehet hogy a gyerek nem egyedül volt és csak mi nem láttunk mást, de az egész annyira extrém horror-beszaratós hangulat volt hogy rögtön otthagytuk az egészet. Nem sokkal ezután még mindig éjszaka, intenzív esőben, a megdöbbenés hatásától élénken beszélgetve, hamarosan elértünk egy falut ( nem emlékszem hol voltunk ).
