Okay but what if I wanted to ask you about vampire squids? I love autism ramblings about marine life.

Okokok this is going to be very unstructured but sh

Ok so despite their name, they're not actually squid, infact they're probably closer to octopuses are in. And well, they were initially (and wrongly) classified as cirrate octopuses (like the flapjack octopus). And you can sorta see why really

So they're not squid, they're not octopuses but they are cephalopods, their own group of cephalopod of which they are the only known member. Their classification was rectified about the 1940s or 1950s. And this was in a German expedition whose purpose was to prove there was life below whatever number of metres, I can't remember how deep it was.

Anyway, they get about 30cm and live at depths around 600m-1200m (sorry idk how much that is in the imperial system). And they live in practically any the oceans in oxygen minimal zones/the oxygen minimal layer. In the OML there's very very little oxygen, like 5% oxygen or smth. That can be bc of circulation in the oceans and that water just isn't moved around as much (there's a name for those little pockets of ocean but I can't remember it). But they have blue blood that is copper based (?) and it binds oxygen really well. I don't know much about that bc I'm not much of a chemistry guy. But they also just use very little energy and have lots of surface area on their gills to absorb as much oxygen as they can.

They have remained largely unchanged for like 300 million years which is cool. In captivity they have been recorded to live for about 2 months but it's estimated they live for almost a decade in the wild.

Now they're called "the vampire squid from hell" (that's what their scientific name translates to) bc of their appearance. The red colour, the large red eyes (that are actually clear but appear blue or red in certain lighting) and the fleshy cirri (little spike things) that lines their webbing. When they are threatened they pull their webbing over their head and it makes them look scary and pointy but really the cirri is soft and squishy.

I'm gonna go back to the eyes for a second bc they are huge compared to the 'squids' body. Like pretty sure they're the biggest eyes compared to body size in any animal or smth. Really cool.

Oh and btw they do have suckers as well but only small ones on the furthest half of the arms from the body. Argh I want to talk about the arms but I want to finish talking about defence mechanisms first. ILL GET BACK TO THE ARMS!!

Ok so they have really weak muscles so their ass is not going anywhere fast, which is a problem when things are trying to eat you (things like sharks, larger cephalopods, fish, and even some diving whales). Their top speed is like 2 body lengths per second. So apart from the spines, they also have some bioluminesence up their sleeves. They have two large light organs on top of their head that kinda look like eyes and one on each end of their arm. So when they pull up their webbing around them and you look at them from the 'top' BAM suddenly you've got lots of scary eyes looking at you. Also they don't squirt ink but do squirt a sticky bioluminesent goo that either distracts the predator, or sticks to the predator so and even bigger predator comes along and eats them. I think this goo can stay glowing for about 10 minutes? I'm not sure. Im pretty sure that this is symbiotic bioluminescene tho, which is where the animal cultivates glowing bacteria to use rather that mixing all the chemicals for bioluminecense in their body themselves.

Ok ok ok arms and 'tentacles'. So they have 8 arms yeah but no tentacles. Instead they have two looonnngggg filaments that they store in little pockets in their body

You can see one there. These are like 8 times their body length and they connect directly to the 'squids' brain.

FOOD!! Unlike pretty much every other cephalopod ever, they are detrivores, which means they eat essentially garbage. Rotting organic matter known as marine snow and literal shit. They way they eat this is they catch the detritus with sticky cells on their filaments and use mucus to make it into something more easy to pass into their beak.

We don't know a whole lot about their breeding and stuff but the males pass a sperm packet to the female for storage so she can fertilise her eggs when she likes. When the babies hatch they are very teeny and don't have their webbing yet. The parents don't tend to their children at all and until they can feed themselves, they eat their egg sacs. They grow pretty slow bc there's not many nutrients and stuff available for them in the deep.

A cool thing about the babies is that when they hatch, they have one pair of swimming fins, then as they grow they develop a second pair, and then eventually they loose (its absorbed into their body, cant waste it) the first pair and just have their second pair. Sorta like we have adult and baby teeth

Another thing that sets them apart from other cephalopods is that they reproduce multiple (up to 20) times in their life, until they die. Other cephalopods usually die after the first time. This makes them iteraparous, while other cephalopods are semelparous.

Ok almost done I promise. A few more things:

-adults use their fins to swim while juveniles use propulsion

-the ICUN has not evaluated them

-they have very good balancing organs like the ones in our ears

-they can not change colour like other cephalopods bc their cromataphores are underdeveloped

THATS PRETTY MUCH ALL I KNOW SO FAR ABOUT THEM!! When I research, I like to try to exhaust every single reliable site with information about them and write it down so I dont think I missed anything too important when I first was researching them :)

People claim a ghost haunts the Wolf Pond Woods. Hikers, joggers and mischievous teens claimed to have heard singing coming from deep inside. They say that melody alone had them fixed in a trance, but the voice made them curious to want to know more. It lured them. Coaxed them to come near, but it never lasted long. The pull felt too weak. They would catch themselves before they traveled too far and ran; to never return. Despite all the rumors that spread around town, I never believed them. Nothing would stop me from capturing the beauty Mother Nature offers in my sketches. Especially on a day like this.

The air was crisp. Perfect for a sunny morning in spring. Sunlight trickled through the heavy canopy of tall trees and glimmered across the grassy floor. I have never been this content. Just me, the pretty scenery and my journal. I’ve always been motivated to capture the positive aspects of these woods. Rumors, true or not, they won’t affect how I see this place. It will always be my safe haven. However, today felt a little… odd.

My surroundings turned deathly silent. The birds stopped chirping, leaves ceased their rustling in the breeze. No sound of bugs or any life. Just silence. And that’s when I heard it. Or rather them. The voice was utterly enchanting, filled with intense agony. Like a symphony that covers you in a cloud of melancholy. It was unmistakably male, soft and hypnotic. I couldn’t help but want to find this person. I got up, leaving my belongings on the dirt floor. It was like I was on autopilot, too focused on the song, that nothing else mattered.

As I walk closer, a long gate with a sign that reads ‘RESTRICTED AREA’ came into view. Without thinking twice, I climb over the gate. The vegetation had overgrown the path beyond. It could be easy to get lost in the thick foliage, but it seems like the song is leading me exactly we’re I need to be. The path was long, but soon a clearing came into view. A large pond sat in the middle of the dreary space. The air seemed thicker, and a cloud of fog hung over the pond like a blanket of misery. Despite the bleak environment, there was one thing that seemed to shine.

I stop dead in my tracks when my eyes land on him. His skin was sun kissed tan and seemed to have a glittery sheen. A mop of large curls sat on his head, with water droplets falling from them slowly. He had an unnatural beauty, but what caught my eyes was the bright tail that replaced his legs. The scales glittered in the sunlight. Yellow, orange and black scales fade into an ombre from hip to fin. The sparkle they gave was astonishing. I didn’t even notice his singing cease until he jumped back into the water and hissed at me. His bared teeth were all triangular and sharp. Closely resembling shark teeth. Despite my better judgement, I step forward carefully with my hands up in surrender.

“Woah... I’m not gonna hurt you.” I try to reassure him, but he doesn’t look convinced. His sharp golden eyes watch as I move closer to the edge of the pond. “Are you out here by yourself?” The ground felt slightly damp as I took a seat a few feet away from the edge. His eyebrows furrowed with anger and confusion at my actions.

“Salir.” his voice was slightly husky but still seemed to have a melodic ring.

“I’m sorry. I don’t understand.” He doesn’t respond for several seconds.

“Leave. Now.” The words seemed final. He left no time for me to react before diving into the water. I stand there staring at the ripples he left in confusion. Why was he alone in the middle of nowhere? I had to know more. However, I knew I wouldn’t be getting any answers out of him anytime soon.

He was nowhere to be found when I went to visit his pond. I figured he needed time to warm up, but I didn’t expect it to be three weeks. It was disappointing not to see him. Every day I went. He may not have shown himself, but I stilled talked to him for a while and left food by the edge of the pond. When I’d come back the next morning, the container would be empty. It made me happy to know that he eats well even if he didn’t show. That was, until he did.

I sat on the bank. My pencil scratched the textured paper of my journal, but something felt off. I felt like someone was watching me. I look up at the pond and find the Merman’s golden eyes staring at me. “Um hello?” The uncertainty was obvious in my voice. The tension between us was strained as he continued to stare. I rack through my brain to come up with something that will get him to talk to me. Then I notice his eyes keep switching from my face to the book in my lap. He looks at it in disgust. A thought instantly sparks. “Do you want to see? It’s not done though.” I turn my journal to him and hold it out. He swims closer, but there’s still a measurable distance between us. Confusion clouds his face as he looks over the page.

“I thought-” He reached his hand out to touch the journal but quickly catches himself. His expression was blank, like he was reliving a memory. He looks back at me after a few seconds. You drew the lake? Why?”

“I think it’s beautiful.” My answer earns me a snarl. He moved slightly to hide his face.

“I don’t.” I place my book and pencil down. My attention was fully on him. This topic seemed to bother him a lot. I don’t want him to disappear again so I should tread lightly.

“What’s your name?” He looks back at me like he got snapped out of a trance.

“Sol.” The answer was blunt, yet it made me smile. I told him my name in return. There was nothing but an awkward silence after that, and it was painful.

“Do you want to see some other drawings?” I reach for my journal again. Sol looks at me with curiosity, then nods. I sit sideways so I can see as I flip through the pages. With every page, there was a different story to tell. Sol seemed to be entertained throughout my rambling. He hung on my every word and asked questions when I finished talking. The conversation flowed effortlessly, like we were old friends. We talked for hours and before I realized the sun was setting.

“Shit. I should go before the sun sets.” I hear Sol fidget next to me where he sat on the bank with half his tail still in the water. He turned his head away before I could get a glimpse of his face.

“Will you be back?” His voice was monotonous. It was a drastic difference from how we talked a few seconds ago. I place my hand on top of his. Sol flinches slightly but doesn’t move away. He looks down at our hands blankly.

“Of course I’ll come back.” I smile to ease his the thoughts running rampant in his mind. These thoughts seem to come from why he’s here. I want to try anything to bring his light back. My gesture seems to work because he’s smiling right back at me. That’s when I realized Sol really did shine brighter than the sun.

Additional info for context: I headcanoned Foolish as going by any pronouns but referring to himself with zie/hir if ever talking in the third person - but that's a whole 'nother set of headcanons for another post, haha. If you see those neos in here, that's why!

Foolish is one of my muses that I seem to love bullying, in all honesty. How I picture his story going is incredibly tragic, and it would take me ages to get to the blood and bones of what he was like before DSMP. A long while ago, I wrote a cute little soulmates fanfic that touched on how Foolish acted, so I'll keep things similarly brief (unless, of course, you wanted to hear every detail I can muster up :P).

Foolish is immortal in every sense of the word. I've always seen Totems as ageless — able to grow and never stop until their lives were traded for others. It's touched upon in c!Foolish's lore where totem children are expected to die for their parents — he just happened to be one of the few who made it well past adulthood and is now perfectly capable of maintaining and protecting himself. Seeing as he can live for centuries, he's gone through several shifts in his behaviors. From quiet and curious about the ever-changing Overworld to restless and bold, he's had time to figure out how he feels and what he deems right and wrong. 

There was a long period during this self-discovery stage when he was known as the "Totem of Death." Quick to anger, baring rows of sharp shark-like teeth, demolishing cities as if they meant nothing, and carrying a torrential downpour wherever he walked like an ominous cloud. He had no regard for life nor the sanctity of nature. His sole purpose was to control what he deemed beneath him — little bugs that could be squashed if he so pleased (a sentiment that zie still holds into the SMP but far more concealed). Everything he loved was bound to dissolve in time, and he saw no purpose in trying if they would turn to dust in the end.

He did pause to consider other immortals, or those who had centuries to live — gods, deities, children born to rule, such as Eret herself. I like to think it was more of a curiosity that rose when Foolish befriended Eret all those centuries ago. He was swimming in red while she watched on with milky white eyes. Call it admiration and mutual companionship, but Foolish did become somewhat of a guard-dog to Eret all that time ago. If anyone spoke out of turn to her, lightning struck, and he was first to snarl that they treat her with respect. If anyone got too friendly, he was a looming threat behind her, bristling and poised to protect whom he deemed his only friend. 

Somewhere along the line, the Wither Cult grew, creating too much carnage for Foolish to feel safe with Eret leaving his sight. Sure, she could protect herself, but Foolish is nothing if not worrying over those he dares to hold dear. It's unclear what their last straw was, but zie and her eventually raised the cult to ashes; thus marking the beginning of Foolish's mellowing out. Traveling with someone with a taste for beauty led to Foolish beginning to find more time to stop and smell the roses. He began to take up hobbies of artwork, relishing in how art was timeless and he didn't need to worry about it crumbling when he could immortalize it through such a delicate process.

Somewhere along the line, the two separated, though Foolish would hardly sit around and mope. He met others, creating... well, his own version of a cult if you tilted your head and squinted to read. Villages he used to destroy began to offer up wealth in turn for protection or monuments built by a demigod. Building was so much easier than massacring the innocent. It held more beauty — it was soothing. With an eternity to hone his skills, Foolish was soon creating structures inconceivable to the average person with a smile and a much happier stance.

Of course, he kept this attitude when he came to the DSMP. It's a conscious choice, as I've always seen Foolish as the type to record his own history. It's all along the walls of his Summer Home, written in tattered tomes deep within his temple, expressed through the sculptures and paintings littering his halls. He remembers everyone who's meant something to him, their lives — if they've been revived, then where they are now, who they are now — zie even takes the time to tend to their portraits hidden in his horde of wealth as if careful hands didn't already protect them.

Sometimes he has brushes with his anger and resentment towards mortals, calling them ants under his shoes or warning them not to piss him off. Sometimes, he laughs off his knowing looks — playing it off as if he doesn't know something is wrong or as if you had duped him. He's smarter than he gets credit for; it's hard to tell when he's genuinely ignorant of something or if he's putting up a front not to pressure information from those who might never be ready to share.

That's why when he meets up again with people like Eret, Foolish insists they know each other. He brings up details that he vividly remembers despite the confusion... and then drops it—laughing and agreeing that he must be confused, too. Maybe they should get some rest. And then he never mentions it again. His memories are very much intact (rereading your own experiences repeatedly makes recall so much easier), and his feelings are still very much real... but he knows he doesn't have the luxury of connection. He will never last in another's mind for as long as they do his... and he's okay with that.

Does he regret what he's done? To an extent. He doesn't remember the faces of those he's hurt, nor does he try to recall those events with anything more than gritted teeth and a hard chuckle. He has grown and changed. He sees no beauty in morality, but rather in the immortality he can craft. It gives him everything he was missing back when he was wild and reckless. Besides... he can atone for what he's done by being a good person now. He can sacrifice for mortals, and he can offer a gentle thumb to rub against their cheeks in times of need. It's sort of like during Sam's Warden Arc, where everyone felt like they were turning their backs on Sam, blaming him for every wrong they could possibly get their hands on— Foolish was the only one to remind him that he wasn't alone. 

"Don't bear this burden alone, Sam."

"I'm here for you, friend."

Foolish has worn many faces: Totem of Death, Demigod of the Sky and the Sea, and Totem of Undying, yet none of them will ever be entirely accurate. He's grown too accustomed to being what is needed in the fleeting time he enjoys with companions and their lives. Foolish will always cherish the past, but he's come to adore the present just as much.

Did I ramble a lot more than I thought I would? Yes. But THEN AGAIN, it's been literal months since I've gotten to ramble senselessly about my goofy goober. It turns out that I have no sense of what the word "brief" means....

"This is never going to work!" You looked up from the page of the book you were reading, frowning and slowly getting up to make your way to your boyfriend's office. The door was closed, but the sound of paper being made into a ball was easy to hear. Raising your hand, you knocked once on the door, no more to ask for permission than for announcing yourself.

"What's wrong, honey?" You stepped in, closing the door quietly behind you. Your tone was soft, like a caress on a bird's struggling wings. 

David was at his desk, hands buried deep in his black curls, making fists and pulling them repeatedly. His head rose to the sound of your voice, and he slowly turned around to face you. Your shoulders fell when you got a proper look at his face, frustration and anger written in lines on his face as if somebody engraved them here.

"I can't do it Y/N. I just can't. It's too hard." David's voice was barely a whisper, shaking and hoarse. 

"Oh darling.." In quick paces you made your way to him, cupping the back of his neck tenderly with your palm and resting his head against your torso, holding him as if to protect him from whatever made him so helpless. David sighed  before a pair of arms came around your waist loosely as you rubbed the desperate man's back in what you hoped was a comforting and calming gesture. 

Starting to hum quietly, for you knew that your boyfriend found it relaxing somehow, you took a look at his desk and noted the numerous balls of papers. A quick glance at the bin confirmed your suspicion : it was already full although David has emptied it this morning. 

Moments passed in silence, except for your quiet humming. It was just a tune you heard on the radio while in the taxi on your way back home but it seemed to work. You could feel the tension slowly leaving David's body, and he fell against yours like the planetes gravitating towards the sun.

"War was easier." Not expecting the almost silence to be broken anytime soon, you were taken aback by this sudden confession. Nonetheless, you quickly took a hold of yourself and smiled gently even if David couldn’t see it.. 

"How so?" You were interested in what David had to say, you always were. Like a drunken person, you drank every word avidly. And he liked to talk to you, liked to let you know how he thought and imagined the world. 

"You didn't have to care about what people would think. As long as you did everything, with some morales, that those old men smoking while sitting in a chair all day wanted, no one would judge you." The hand rubbing his back moved to his hair, slowly massaging his scalp just the way you knew he liked. David closed his eyes for a second and swallowed but the bitterness didn't leave his mouth. David wasn’t sure when it had settled but he knew for sure that, from the moment it did, it  had never left.

"That was only in the beginning, a few months in and morales didn't seem as important anymore. The only thing that mattered was winning, no matter the ways used." The sarcasm was pouring from his words, but you drank them all the same. 

The struggling writer wasn’t finished, but he took a deep, shaking breath and you didn’t stop him. You supported him without a word, but with tender touches and fond gazes that said the most beautiful of fairy tales. If he had a lucky star, David was thanking her every second of each day for putting you in his life. He spoke again, this time with more strength. 

"People will read this. They'll read this book and judge it. I can't afford to make one mistake or else someone will learn and remember a mistake." You couldn't help a snort at that, though David knew better than to think it was an insult to him. 

"If only the people who write school books thought the same way." That earned you a chuckle, making both of you feel lighter..

Silence filled the room again, shadows of smiles still on both of your faces. Your fingers didn’t stop from dancing around David’s black curls.

"The thing is, what I'm attempting to write, might be the first book someone reads on sharks. It'll decide on whether they'll want to know more or dismiss them and stick to the lies some people said about them." You hummed an answer, taking a step back to kneel and be on eye's level with him. Taking his head in your hands gently, stroking his cheekbones with your thumbs, and locking your eyes together. His blue eyes searched yours, looking lost.

"David, love, there are still so many things we don’t know. In a hundred years, maybe what we thought to be right turned out to be wrong. This is why we write. Not for today, but for tomorrow. For the people who'll walk on our ashes, for them to imagine things they never saw, remember people they never knew. Not to be perfect, but to show the evolution of the human kind. So yes, maybe in a hundred years, some facts will be proven wrong. But where's the problem? There is no shame in making mistakes, honey,” You smiled softly. “Don't fly too close from perfection, you'd only burn your wings to the ground." Thinking of more to say, your gaze wandered upon David’s bookshelves, where many books and pictures of all kinds of sharks stood proudly. You didn’t have to think anymore, and David could only admire you, the fire in your eyes not burning him but taking him in a warm embrace. He never wanted to be anywhere else.

"What you are writing is the book about your greatest passion. Sometimes, I think you love sharks more than you love me," David huffed quietly, you merely smiled, a twinkle in your eyes. "You're the most passionate man I know, David. Your passion soaks every word, it isn't just some sort of automatic recital, like text books. It gives the will to read and to know more. And that's the greatest thing that you can do as a writer." You kissed his forehead, and as you were getting up, David’s calloused hands came to cup your face, bringing your lips to his in a heated yet incredibly soft kiss.

Thank you.

You smiled in the kiss, and even if your knees were complaining, you didn’t get up, and stood exactly where you were, at David’s side to support him.

Breaking waves

Chris peered over the edge of her rental boat. Murky ocean water met her gaze with the sun’s glare. She shook her head and returned to ensuring her engine was off. It had been a bad idea watching Jaws before she came onto the open water. With a sheepish chuckle, she slid into the shaded viewing area of her boat. The peaceful lapping of water became all she heard, and all she saw was peaceful water. Every once in a while, it was nice to have a break from the chaos. She smiled.

It wasn’t often she managed to pull away from her daily life. When surrounded with sick creatures and a tight-knit family, Chris hardly had time for herself. Although she enjoyed being a busy body, her coworkers had decided she needed the break. At first, Chris had been bitter. But once the second day of gardening and quiet walks passed, she realized their point. Having one week without pay was well worth keeping her sanity.

Today was a beach day for Chris, the first in a long time. She’d started out on the shore, until the sight of a giant fin caught her eye. Elated at the chance to see something incredible, Chris jumped at the chance for a rental boat and hurried into the open ocean. Of course, she was very precautions about everything. Her family knew where she was, and she was never without her phone, a spare charger, and a life jacket. No point in having a vacation if she died.

While one would think after waiting for twenty minutes without sight of anything living was exhausting, Chris couldn’t complain. It gave her time to read her book and catch up on her water intake. Chris declined in her small captain’s chair, book in hand. She opened the book. Within moments, she was lost in the pages of forbidden love. Hearts that yearned to be together, but an external force ripped them apart. She’d nearly cried when the protagonist had lost all hope.

As she further lost herself in the spellbinding novel, Chris failed to realize movement in the water below. Perhaps there was a reason the ocean was so empty. While a daydreamer, Chris was somewhat aware of what was going on. So when something bumped against her boat, she snapped to attention. Her stomach clenched. Sharks were her first thought. But when a second, stronger force rocked the boat, she questioned herself. A shark wasn’t that heavy. The lovers had to wait.

What happened next would put any shark movie to shame. There was a movement beneath the boat, and then a white crest rose up from the water. The crest was a good fifty feet away. A whale! Chris gasped. She ran to the front of the boat, almost slipping in her rush. Her excitement faltered when she realized the white crest wasn’t smooth. It was ridged and bumpy, instead of a whale’s smooth skin. As more white emerged, followed by a pale skin color, Chris realized this was far from any Jaws movie. This was going to get so much worse, or so much better.

A pair of white ridges were next, followed by the bridge of a nose. A human nose. Chris gaped, staggering back. Two massive pools of grey followed, and two black pupils focused on her. Chris swallowed. Each eye was at least half as big as she was….meaning- She turned her head, and realized her suspicions were true. About fifty feet behind her boat was the same fin she’d seen before. Her attention turned back to the still-emerging face.

Moments like hours passed. Finally, a chin and part of a neck rose for the water. Chris watched plumes of water return to the ocean, the dull roar sending a rock to her stomach. She sighed. This was no shark or whale, but a merman. A giant merman. And he was staring at her. Feeling self-conscious under such a massive gaze, she looked to the side and sighed.

“Well, I was expecting a whale,” she laughed weakly.

“You sound disappointed.” The flat voice made Chris jump. She whipped her attention to the merman. “I’m surprised. Most people are in a pure panic by now…” The, no, he raised a brow. “You broken or something, miss?”

“Ah-....no. Not broken.” Chris collected herself. This was just a giant merman. Nothing she wasn’t used to seeing. He’d just surprised her, that was all. “More...educated. I’m guessing since you haven’t capsized my boat you’re either too curious or not hungry enough to kill me.” She shrugged. “If you want me to panic, I can, but I don’t see how that will do us much good.”

He seemed impressed. “Huh. I have to say, you’re the first human to not scream when first seeing me. You have a name, small fry?”

“Christina, but I go by Chris. You have one, Jaws?”

The reference didn’t stick. “Bastian,” The merman smiled. “Nice to meet you.” His gaze turned more curious. “Seriously, you’re not even a little scared…? Wow.”

Chris laughed. “Well, you’re not my first giant, nor my first merman. I’ve just not seen one as big as you before.” She shrugged, then settled down on the boat’s floor. “Certainly not one that’s as open to introducing himself.”

“Kind of hard to be afraid of something as small as you,” Bastian chuckled. “Most people stay away when they see giant fins in the water. You rushed right towards me. I think I have grounds to be curious.”

“Well, If you must know, I am a mythical veterinarian and self claimed biologist.”

“Fascinating. Please use words I know the meaning of.”

“Basically, I help sick mythical creatures and study them because they’re amazing. You’re a merman, so you fall under the umbrella of mythical creatures. So you’re amazing.” Chris smiled, and Bastian returned the gesture.

“Ah, I see. So you want to learn about me. I’m kind of curious about you. What a coincidence,” he smirked. “Someone should write this down.”

Chris grinned and stood. She retrieved a small journal from the back of the boat, pencil in hand. “I agree, I’ll do that right now.”

Bastian blinked as Chris began to write. For a moment, he remained motionless, curious about what the human was doing. He leaned forwards. With a frown, he peered down at the small woman. She seemed unbothered by his approach, and continued to scribble.

“What’re you writing about?”

Chris looked up. She smiled, and turned the notebook. Bastian squinted, leaning in so he could see. Although the strange characters around the paper made no sense, Bastian noticed a silly looking picture of his face. “If that’s how you see me, we may have some problems. My eyes are not that...are they that big?.” He looked into the water, frowning. “They can’t be that big…”

The human laughed jovially. Bastian huffed, then smiled. He leaned back. A human who didn’t scream or panic when they saw him. Hell, anything smaller than him that didn’t swim or flee was a jewel in his eyes. She even wanted to hear his side of things to boot. He looked out into the water, smiling. It felt a little less empty now.

Once she’d written some more, Chris began to rapidly fire questions at him. It took Bastian a while to answer them all, especially with the detail Chris desired. But once he’d finished to her satisfaction, he asked her questions he’d always wondered about humans. Why they were so afraid, why they couldn’t swim quite right. He also asked why many that had a strange odor stumbled around like a dolphin who’d bumped a puffer fish.

Eventually, with all their questions answered, the two fell into more casual chatter. They told funny, sad, and harrowing tales of their lives. Chris read some from her book while Bastian poured his heart out for the main character. Bastian hummed a few tunes he’d memorized from much larger, older ships. Chris loved those. Soon enough, the two realized they had nothing more to talk about. Chris added she needed more water and sunblock.

Before they parted, Chris promised she would visit again. Bastian didn’t know how seriously to take her, but agreed to keep an eye out. She warned him about dangerous humans, seeming genuinely concerned. Bastian reassured her he would be careful. He was touched. It pained him to bid her well. Against Chris’ insisting she would be fine, he followed her boat for a while. If Chris was going to come back, he preferred it was in one piece.

Bastian let her be when he could see shoreline, sure that she would be fine on her own. He waited until her boat was far enough away, and dove into the water. His tail slapped at the water, and he hoped Chris saw it as he descended into the deep. While fish and other creatures parted the way for him, he wondered if one day he’d meet more humans. He hoped so. Every once in a while, it was nice to have a break from the quiet.

He got me into clean pajamas and tucked me in on the couch. Then he washed my pajamas and cleaned up and bleached the bathroom.He even bought me a new pair of slippers since I ruined mine (we washed them, they still smelled like crap so we tossed them) a few days later.I married him. Only someone who really loves you would literally put up with your shit. I personally use setting powder under my eyes and smile lines then setting spray all over. However if I going out and want my make up to last the war, then I set everything with powder then setting spray. I just feel like the setting spray "melts" everything together and 구미출장샵 it doesn leave me with a powdery finish. Still, I search on ebay in hopes I come across one soon. So yes, the same person at 16 and 18 might very well have different understandings of a great many things, as would they between 14 and 16 or 18 and 20. But that isn the point. It’s nothing I put much thought into, and I do have many ships for both of them I like better, but the idea of the two of them together is fun so why not

God, that’s one hard question to answer easily - I somewhat talked about it here? tho it was more specifically about why chapter 90 kills me haha but yeah to sum it up I’d say that my favorite ship for Kirishima is Bakugou because I think he’s the one that understands Kirishima best, the one that’s been there the most for him when Kirishima needed it, the one that always knows what to say to him and the one Kirishima holds onto when he needs strength, he’s the one that’s shown the most concern for Kirishima and the only one that’s actively done something to make him feel better when Kirishima needed it. He’s the one Kirishima gravitates towards the most and the one Kirishima shows most sides of himself to, too. And my favorite ship for Bakugou is Kirishima because Kirishima’s the only one that actually tries to see behind Bakugou’s anger, the one that since the start looked at him rage and saw a teen in pain, the only one that actually knows how to talk to him and the only one that doesn’t even need to try, he’s just naturally Bakugou’s perfect match in personality. He’s the one that likes Bakugou as he is, for what he is, not part of him but all of him, completely. He’s the one that’d risk his life for Bakugou no questions asked, and he’s the one Bakugou’s the most willing to spend time with, the one Bakugou talks to and shares with and accepts help from. 

I like the relationship they share with each other the most out of every other relationship they have with other characters because they’re comfortable with one another and care for one another in an active way, do everything they can to make sure the other is happy and safe. Because they’re each other’s strength and greatest ally and best friend. I like that they’re aware of each other, that they know each other, that they like each other - not in a subtext kind of way, but in an obvious, on screen, there-was-a-chapter-in-which-that-was-actually-spelled-out way. I like how Kirisihima always knows what’s up with Bakugou, and I like how he’s the proxy to go to when people don’t know where Bakugou is, and I like that he always knows. I like that it’s implied they spend a lot of time alone together. I like that Kirishima said that Bakugou has a broken way of talking, but he isn’t a bad guy and he can’t say he dislikes how Bakugou tends to make enemies left and right, and I like that Bakugou took his hand and smiled at him. I like that Bakugou never yells at him and always calls him by name and never ignores him, and I like that Kirishima calls him out on his rudeness but still likes him and supports him and follows him. I like their relationship the most because it’s the most important relationship for either of them, because it’s healthy and equal and happy, and I ship it because seeing it as romantic from where they stand now, to me, isn’t a huge step at all

And I like this ship above any other ship, even above the ships with other characters that share similar relationships as far as support and love goes, because they’re fun, and rowdy, and bright and loud and dynamic, and I have fun thinking about them interacting more than I have fun thinking about anyone else. And because they’re separately my favorite characters, and I think together they’d be the happiest they could ever manage, and I really, really want that for both them. To be happy with the person that understands them the most and loves and supports them the most, and with whom they can be the most comfortable and open and at peace. I think they could be home to each other, really. They’re a pretty obvious ship, to me haha

I wouldn’t say they’re canonically into them, but I do feel like, if I were to point someone they might be romantically into, that’s who I’d point to hahaha but yeah Jirou and Momo! They haven’t appeared much in canon so after all there isn’t too much behind the ship, more for shortage of scenes than anything else, but Jirou tends to blush a lot around Momo, she’s really protective of Momo, she’s pointed out how cute Momo is on more than one occasion, and their friendship is seriously cute - they’re always together? And when they’re not Jirou gravitates towards Momo a lot, you see her in the background waving at Momo or walking towards Momo really really often - of course all of these things can (and most probably are) just proofs of their being best friends! But it’s a good relationship I love a lot, which is why I ship it~

Be hit by a car by 1 or 9: Kino or Jooheon // The one question I’ll never choose my ultimate on. I’d never want to put him through that ugh!! I wouldn’t want to put me through that or anyone else either. 

Hit 3 or 4 with a car: Minsu or Yeo One // I would never do this if someone told me that I had the opportunity to hit someone with a car, ok? just... keep that in mind please. Both of these boys are so sweet! If I could get away with just a brush I would and apologize so much that Minsu would be sick of me :c

Kiss 4 or 8 in the moonlight: Yeo One or Shownu // Damn this game for making my heart flutter. Thinking about this is hard because oml both are so handsome and soft and make me swoon. But I choose Yeo because I love the idea of his slow, soft smile after kissing me and the sparkle in his eyes. ❤︎

Dance in the rain with 2 or 4: Jaeho or Yeo One // Not more of this ugh. ;-; I have such heart eyes for soft Yeo ❤︎

Be kidnapped with 1 or 5: Kino or Johnny // Ok so I’m picking Johnny for this because legit reasons. Johnny would probably know how to escape, and we all know he’s extremely wily, so yeah if I’d be kidnapped, I’d want him kidnapped with me ahaha.

Arm wrestle 1 or 3: Kino or Minsu // Oh I could totally take either lol cx nah, I think Minsu would get such a huge kick out of it!! ahah

Go to an art museum with 3 or 5: Minsu or Johnny // I imagine that Johnny’s more of an art aficionado, lol. 

Have a picnic with 2 or 3: Jaeho or Minsu // Both boys would be amazing to picnic with, but my automatic first pic was Jaeho!

Buy a puppy with 1 or 10: Kino or T.O.P // oml that first meeting of the puppy and Seunghyun would be soooo cute!!!

Get a forehead kiss from 7 or 9: Leo or Jooheon // FUUUUUU I just whisper-swore; my roommate popped up her head and asked me what was wrong lol. Anyways, ummmm so ugh more heart flutters??? I love Jooheon... and I’d die at a forehead kiss... but tbh I’d rather marry Leo aghhh. In the end I go with my gut and choose my ultimate ❤︎

Pick up 2 or 6 from the airport at 5am: Jaeho or Kyuhyun // I’d go anywhere, do anything for Kyu. ahh. Even if it’s going to the airport to pick him up at 5am.

Go on a road trip with 3 or 8: Minsu or Shownu // Shownu! We’d have to make frequent stops though so he could stretch his legs lol~

Have an all night study session with 6 or 8: Kyuhyun or Shownu // Um this one is harder than I expected; but I would really love to pick Kyu’s brain tbh and soak up his words like a sponge. Hopefully I could do a little of the same for him in return. 

Sing karaoke with 8 or 10: Shownu or T.O.P // lol ugh well Seunghyun could rap everything I couldn’t ahah... but Shownu would be so great. I choose the latter because I feel a stronger chance of not being able to sing anything because I’m dying of laughter.

Climb a tree with 6 or 9: Kyuhyun or Jooheon // Ultimate bias privilege again I can climb trees, it takes me a bit of effort but I can. Joo’s such an adventurous soul, I think he’d agree to some tree climbing in no time flat ❤︎

Share your favorite food with 6 or 10: Kyuhyun or T.O.P // Jeez both of them are people I like solely because of their intellect and they seem like smart, awesome people. This is a great conversation setting, too. Going with T.O.P on this one.

Rob a bank with 5 or 8: Johnny or Shownu // Let’s be real here, our handsome Chicago gangsta Johnny would be the obvious choice. Though Shownu could intimidate.

Have 8 or 9 write a song about you: Shownu or Jooheon // Jooheon’s raps are really the best ❤︎❤︎❤︎ Though I lowkey also want to pick Shownu because I’ve never seen/heard of him writing lyrics/songs? It would probably be very sweet and interesting. :)

Be embraced by 9 or 10 after you cry: Jooheon or T.O.P // ok so factoid about me: if I really respect you there’s no way in heck that I want you to see me cry!!! I’m very much the strong-wannabe type. But thinking about this, I’d rather have Joo walk in on me. He’s a huge softie and squishy.

Have 6 or 7 cook for you: Kyuhyun or Leo // I’ve heard that Leo is pretty good at cooking, so ^^ Sorry Kyu :o

Have 1 or 2 be your sidekick: Kino or Jaeho // ahahah! This is great! Kino for sure! though people would probably mistake me for his sidekick a lot lol!

Star in a K-drama with 1 or 6: Kino or Kyuhyun // Though Kino would be typecast as the dashing, swoonworthy lead, I think I’d rather star with Kyu. It’d definitely be a softer love story, which is perfect honestly ❤︎

Build a dresser from Ikea with no instructions with 3 or 7: Minsu or Leo // This one’s kind of ridiculous ahah. hm, I think Minsu though. (Gut.)

Be in a zombie apocalypse with 5 or 6: Johnny or Kyuhyun // Sorry Kyu, but Johnny would be cracking off Zombie’s heads with a reinforced baseball bat and wearing those bandanas he does and slaying me kicking Zombie ass and taking Zombie names. Just in general being a badass.

Run a YouTube channel with 3 or 10: Minsu or T.O.P // Ugh, hard. Seunghyun though I think, we’d probably do like...art news or music news or something like that ....ahaha.
