I was sitting in my room, watching yet another TikTok tutorial on how to curl your hair using socks. Hopefully, this one would work—though, considering it was already 9 PM and I’d been trying for the past half hour, I wasn’t feeling too optimistic. My arms were going numb from holding them up for so long when suddenly, someone rang the doorbell.
“Ugh,” I groaned, getting up from my chair, only to trip over a pair of jeans that had been abandoned on my floor. I fell forward, just barely catching myself with my hands before my face hit the ground. Damn, I really needed to clean this room. Honestly, I was walking on top of my own clothes.
The doorbell rang three more times—insistently.
Who the hell is at the door at this hour?
I pushed myself off the floor and made my way to the front door. On the intercom screen, I saw a sweet-looking boy wearing glasses, staring directly into the camera.
“Um, hi… Is Sieun home?” he asked politely.
I opened the door, and he gave me a weird look—kind of confused, kind of surprised.
“Uh… you have socks on your head,” he said—not mockingly, just pointing it out.
I ignored the comment and answered, “He’s not home yet. Should be back soon, I guess. And you are…?”
I gave him a quick once-over. He didn’t look like someone who’d be friends with Sieun. Then again, since the whole Suho and Beomseok thing happened, my brother barely talked to anyone besides me.
“I’m in Sieun’s class. I came to return his phone,” the boy said, holding it out toward me.
“Newton’s third law,” he added, flashing a smile with perfect white teeth.
“…Right. The third law of Newton,” I replied, raising an eyebrow as I took the phone. What a weirdo.
“I’ll give it to him. And your name is?” I asked, still unsure what to make of him.
“Juntae. Seo Juntae,” he said with a nod.
“Mhm. Well, Seo Juntae, thanks… on his behalf,” I replied.
“Oh no, really, it’s the least I could do,” he said, lifting his hands a bit in a dismissive gesture.
I gave him a small smile and started closing the door. “Good night.”
“Wait!” he said quickly. “Are you his sister?”
I frowned slightly. What else would I be? His girlfriend? Now that’s a good joke. I don’t think my brother will ever get a girlfriend.
“Yes, I thought that was obvious,” I replied.
“Oh… okay. And what’s your name? Since you know min-" he started.
“Sooah,” I said, cutting him off before he could ask anything else. This boy yapped way too much.
“Right. Um, good night. I mean… evening, I guess,” he said and disappeared.
What a strange kid.
I shut the door behind me and placed Sieun’s phone on the dinner table. Grabbing a notebook, I tore out a page and scribbled a note:
“Here’s your phone, dumbass. I’m going to sleep. And next time, PLEASE don’t lose it. Lots of kisses—your sister.”
I slid the note under his phone and looked up at the clock. It was 9:15 PM. Normally I didn’t go to bed this early, but last night I stayed up until 3 AM reading, so I was surviving on three and a half hours of sleep. In my defense, the enemies had just become lovers.
I went back to my room, stepping over the chaos of clothes like I was shopping during a store-wide clearance sale. Reaching my bed, I turned on my red LED lights and collapsed onto the mattress, only to realize how ridiculously uncomfortable it was trying to sleep with socks tied to my head.
This hairstyle better turn out amazing or I swear, I’m suing this chick on tiktok.
After about 10 minutes of tossing and turning with sock-curlers yanking at my scalp, I finally fell asleep.

Tumblr and other blog spaces
Seeing a few people on my dashboard worried about Tumblr's future. I'm thinking about making a small Blogger tutorial on how to use it at a later time. Till then, here's a tidbit of what I know from using Blogger since 2010.
Blogger is free, requires a Google account, but it is old as fuck.
My Blogger page: Sketching with Reckless Abandon
Blogger is very archaic, like there is no easy way to find other blogs except through some random search engine. Formatting on Blogger's post editor is not great. Images sometimes break or glitch and sometimes delete paragraphs. Also, labels on Blogger are not the same as tags on Tumblr: they are only for your blog's organization. Sometimes search engines can use your labels for their results but I'm not sure how well that works in today's internet.
Blogger's dev blog was last updated in 2020, so I'm not even sure if there's any support for future updates. Blogger still works, lol.
Blogger's dashboard is the Reading List and is out of the way of your main page of Blogger, which usually shows your entire history of your blog posts. The Reading List shows a list of blogs you follow, their posts shortened for compact display. To follow other blogs based on Blogger: first you need to find a blog (either .blogspot or .blogger), then paste the home url in your Reader List > Manage > Mangage Blogs I'm Following page. Use this page to unfollow blogs.
Old as fuck website aside, Blogger is good for Artists (if you use a blog template that favors your images) and Writers (Blogger is a long form blogging website like Tumblr, though in theory I don't think Blogger has a post cap). It is possible to use Blogger as an archive, provided you keep things organized and up to date. Like with some templates on Tumblr, you can use some templates on Blogger to make your blog into a webpage or portfolio site. Setup is a little finicky, though.
Use labels to organize your blog, don't use labels as tags or talk in tags - this will mess up your blog's organization and will be hell to clean up. I suggest not to use it as a micro-blogging platform. Small posts within a short amount of time will flood Reader Lists.
You do not have to worry (somewhat) about awkward censorship there, but still follow Blogger's TOS. 18+ art and content must have Adult Content enabled in settings. If you are an 18+ creator, I suggest reading the Community Guidelines before making a blog on Blogger.
Moderation on these blogs are extremely basic. Like, you just have some basic moderation on your comments. You can hide comments on individual posts.
Also, it's possible Blogger might break a few posts. It's rare, but it would explain why my earliest posts from 2010-2013 don't have me as the author. I can still edit them, but can't change author. It might be because I had a Google+ account back then before Google deprecated it. Anyway, today Blogger uses my main Google account as the author of my recent posts.
There is no way to share posts easily, except copying other posts and linking them in your blog post (talk about it, so it's not just a link). To interact with others, just comment (if available) under blog posts. Make sure your comment is set to public (either your google acc or name with url). If you want to comment anonymously, you can do that as well.
Blogger's biggest pro is its Stats page. It shows you how many views you got for your blog and your posts, and it also shows detailed information on what keywords/labels that helped bring views to your blog. Might want to get used to using SEO techniques.

How to Research Pt. 1 - Google-Fu
Alright. I have decided to make a little tutorial in how to use different ways to access information, especially scientific information. The reason for this is, that... Well, research has found that a lot of Gen Z and especially Gen Alpha struggle with doing online research, mostly due to being so used to use the internet via Apps. And having had to do a research project at university, where my fellow students massively struggled to find anything on the requested topic.
So... Let me start with the most obvious topic: Google.
Funnily enough I gotta say, that even a lot of my fellow Millenials struggle with google. Mind you, Google has become a lot less user-friendly over the years. Ten years ago it was a lot easier to google stuff, because Google pushed less advertisement.
It should be said, that these techniques also work with most non-google search engines. So, let me go through it.
How to Google
For reasons the question I will use to demonstrate this entire thing will be: "How many biological sexes are there?" Just because I had to show research on this in online discussions too often. (Me, that is, as an intersex individuum.)
The most intuitive way would probably be to directly ask google.
Now, on the first glance the results of this search do not look that bad.
Again, I am intersex. I am definitely not a male or female based on my biology. And obviously, as such I have read quite a bit on the topic before.
Now. One of the things you need to do, when doing research, is to be able to judge a source.
Scientific American is somewhat reliable as a starting point, but it is popscience, hence you should definitely not cite it if there is any other way.
The NIH is usually a reliable source. But, if you just look into the preview text (or read the abstract on the side) you will find, that the scientist completely just mixes through sex, gender and sexuality. Which... might not make for the best source.
The next one - from the Arizona State University - also is a bit too much on the gender part, and too little on the sex part. And if you look at the preview, you will also find something else there: Google has marked "gender" as an "exact result" by using bold fonts.
And lastly we have a result that is the private blog of some economics guy. Which... might not be a good source for this.
And if you scroll just a bit further down, you will find openly trans- and interphobic sites like Women UK and Emma.
This is the point where you should realize two things:
Maybe we should change the search
You really gotta be careful with what pages get brought up, when you use your google-fu.
See, here is the thing. Why in the nine hells is the 4th (!!!) result of the search some private blog of some dude? I can tell you: Google is basing the results partly on the SEO of the pages. And it just turns out that some economics blokes are actually really good at SEO stuff. That is search engine optimization.
Other than that, Google also basing stuff on traffic and how many people clicked at what link and probably some other stuff that us normal mortals will never understand.
So, how can you change the results? Well, you use the tools that google gives you.
Using " around a group of words or a single word tells google, that you want this exact group of words in the result and no variation of it.
Using - in front of a word or a group of words marked with " before means that you want to exclude these results.
And using * somewhere means, that a word can end differently and you will still accept it.
So, what have we learned from the other results before? Well, for one: We should definitely tell google, that we want to know about biological sex, not about gender. So we should probably mark "biologial sex" as an exact group. It probably would help also to include something like "intersex" because that way we give google something to go off on. Lastly: A lot of supposedly "feminist" sites will actually push their TERFy agenda. So, to exclude them, I will tag this search also as -"women's rights". And because I am not interested in someone's blog, I will also use -blog.
Hence we get the search term:
And look at the results I am getting:
Now, this might not be perfect - but it is much more like what I was looking for, right?
So, that is a quick primer on how to google-fu.
