#OVERLORD RAISING HELL GAMEPLAY SERIES#
Normally, they'll just trail along behind you like good little minions, but you can also take control of them by using the right stick. These abyssal areas are different from most other areas and are filled with more evil and dastardly monsters - but conquering worlds and demonic planes is all in a day's work for any self-respecting evil overlord.Īs well as controlling the Overlord, you also get to control your minions in Overlord: Raising Hell. Where the extra content from the Raising Hell missions comes in is mainly in the form of an added-on Abyss to each land that needs conquering too. Even with the addition of extra content in the form of the Raising Hell add-on, the game still remained a sleeper hit.
#OVERLORD RAISING HELL GAMEPLAY PC#
Overlord was released in 2007 for the PC and Xbox 360 to reasonable acclaim but despite this appeared to be a game that hovered outside most peoples' game-dars. Imagine my surprise, then, when a game turned up on my desk that I'd heard very little about. It's not even possible to assume that a game will be good because it's written by a particular developer, since most have a bastard son of a game that they'd rather keep hidden in the basement. The problem is that most games these days are surrounded by some level of hype, however small, and it's becoming more and more difficult to sort out the decent games from the not so decent games. We've written in the past about how hype can damage a game's reception and about that creeping fear of dread when an over-hyped game lands on your desk for review. Your word is law.Overlord: Raising Hell Publisher: Codemasters Get in the action and become the Overlord, the all powerful dark lord with a horde of minions to command and a land to conquer.Ĭonquer a twisted fantasy world and show the Seven Heroes, demonic Halflings, and Rabid Unicorns who's boss.Ĭontrol a horde of slavish and loyal minions as they smash, destroy, kill and steal anything for you. Do you have what it takes to be really, really, really evil?įind out in this fun mixture of fantasy role-playing, action, and adventure with just a little pinch of RTS!Includes both Overlord and Overlord: Raising Hell. However it's not just the fallen heroes that have been dragged into the abyss: the Overlord's newly loyal peasants have also been taken down into hell too. Access to each abyss is via a portal, which opens once a kingdom has been successfully conquered and the previous ruler banished to a personal hell within.
#OVERLORD RAISING HELL GAMEPLAY SERIES#
However, with incredible power at your disposal and a team of evil-minded impish critters, the Minions, on hand to do your bidding, how will you resist the temptation to be wonderfully despotic?ĭelve deeper into the Overlord's twisted world as Overlord: Raising Hell opens up a series of hellish new levels, each a twisted, corrupted version of the five major kingdoms: Mellow Hills, Evernight, Heaven's Peak, the Golden Halls, and the Ruborian Desert. You could be a regular Overlord who only overlords during banking hours. In the game's seriously warped fantasy world, you’ll become the Overlord and find out for yourself whether absolute power corrupts absolutely. Get in touch with your despotic side in Overlord, the twisted fantasy action adventure where you can be evil (or really evil).

We’re All Noobs at Heart
Tumblr media
In the vibrant realm of video gaming, three titans have long held court, each carving out their own magical kingdoms and leaving an indelible mark on the annals of history. Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox — these names conjure images as different as they are entwined in our collective consciousness. Join me now on a whimsical odyssey through their respective domains to unravel the tapestry of influence these colossal entities have woven into the very fabric of gaming culture.
We begin our chronicle in the Mushroom Kingdom ruled by an unlikely plumber clad in red cap and overalls; it’s none other than Nintendo’s flagship hero Mario! Since 1985, this portly plumber has been leaping across pipes while rescuing Princess Peach from Bowser’s clutches. Their saga reads like an epic poem spanning decades — a tale older than time itself or so it seems — fighting Bob-ombs and Koopas alike with shells adorned by stars that grant invincibility when touched.. A legacy as impactful as few others could hope for; not only did he define side-scrollers but also paved the way for generations after him with his platforming prowess!
Next, we venture to the realm of PlayStation where third-person action and open-world games reign supreme. Here, Kratos dons his chain blades, ready to unleash a torrent of chaos upon the Greek pantheon in God of War. The PS2 ushered in an era where narrative storytelling took center stage as much as gameplay innovation; GTA San Andreas raised eyebrows with its groundbreaking adult themes and interactive world that left nothing sacred (or off limits). Sony’s domination over console exclusives cannot be understated: Nathan Drake swung across Uncharted vistas while Joel and Ellie braved post-apocalyptic journeys. Each character etched into our minds like figures on Mount Olympus — larger than life yet humanized by their plights against insurmountable odds!
The Xbox’s emergence into the fray, led by the stoic Master Chief and his AI companion Cortana, breathed new life into the FPS genre with Halo. Swords clashing against alien energy rifles redefined what it meant to be a space marine, as they waged an interstellar war against Covenant forces across ringworlds and battered colony worlds. Meanwhile, Gears of War ushered in a gritty brand of third-person action set amidst the Locust horde invasion; chainsaw bayonets and active reload became battle cries for armchair soldiers everywhere. Their tale of camaraderie stands tall amongst the greats of gaming..
Regardless of allegiance to Nintendo’s Mushroom Kingdom, PlayStation’s diverse landscapes or Xbox’s sci-fi battlefields, the very act of spreading enthusiasm enriches all involved; an alchemy that transcends console wars and fanboy divides. Like a well-honed master sword forged in collaborative storytelling fires, the gaming ecosystem flourishes when fans unite over shared experiences. Imagine how dull it would be if only one kingdom ever held sway over another?
Of course, we cannot forget the enigmatic PC master race; perched upon their high thrones of RGB-illuminated towers, sipping from the finest liquid cooling loops as they sneer at mere console peasants. But even these arcane lords cannot deny that Nintendo’s whimsical charm or PlayStation and Xbox’s cinematic experiences have shaped the very fabric of gaming itself. So let us raise our Hutton Orbital mugs to those mouse and keyboard overlords who remind us that 60 frames per second is but a meager flicker compared to the uncapped framerate hells they tread on a daily basis…
While I may poke fun, PC gaming undoubtedly pushes boundaries with crystal clear visual splendor & modding magic , forever blurring lines between fantasy & reality.
In the end, the true victory is not found in the console war’s ashes but rather the bridges forged between fellow gamers. As a community we thrive when celebrating each other’s conquests, be it Master Chief’s latest PVP triumph or Link’s daring dungeon crawl. And while PC gaming may boast of their 4K exploits, history will remember Nintendo’s innovative controllers, PlayStation’s narrative leaps and Xbox’s online revolutions as the bedrock upon which all others stand. So let us raise our controllers, keyboards and mice alike to coexistence, for it is through a shared love of pixels and polygons that we transcend the physical and become integral parts of legends forged in the unlikeliest of places.

Games I Did Not Finish in 2019
Tumblr media
I’d call it the Wall of Shame, but I’m not ashamed of some of these at all. (All pictures are taken from YouTube thumbnails of videos)
Tumblr media
LocoRoco
I bought this in a pack with Patapon and LocoRoco and I honestly thought this was pretty boring. Cute music though.
Tumblr media
Patapon
It’s a fun game that I just haven’t gotten around to finishing it
Tumblr media
Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen
Is this game cursed for me? I swear every time I try to play this, I always end up losing interest. It’s weird because this never happened to me with the original Dragon’s Dogma.
Tumblr media
Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault
For some reason, I bought this a second time and tried to finish it a second time. Then I stopped. I just don’t see the point in replaying it, it wasn’t the greatest game to begin with.
Tumblr media
Hunted: The Demon’s Forge
I was told this had good combat. It does not have good combat. It’s just another PS3 generation FPS shooter with swords, arrows, co-op and a third-person view instead of just guns and a first-person view.
Tumblr media
Wild Arms 3 (and also Rogue Galaxy)
I bought these two because I was in a wild flurry of buying up PS2 titles "I never got to experience as a kid" (aka the-no-childhood-PS2-pile). I just didn't end up playing either because I realized I bought way too many of these games, and there was no realistic way I was going through these two mega-length RPG’s as well as the Dark Cloud series. I'm aiming to complete this next year though.
Tumblr media
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations
Despite not being a Naruto fan, I totally snagged a copy of this for myself. We always played this at house parties so I legitimately got it for the gameplay.
Anyway I actually beat the Story Mode... but not the Survival Mode. I’ve sunk about 24 hours into the game already trying to get past all the challenges. It’s quite annoying, as the game clearly isn’t balanced around you fighting 10 consecutive opponents in a row, though I have figured out some nice, cheesy strategies for the AI. Let’s just say I started with an overly-complicated Sai setup and ended up going with solo Post-Chuunin Exam Gaara (since that version of Gaara just destroys AI-controlled enemies).
Tumblr media
Viking: Battle for Asgard
I’m... not entirely sure why I stopped playing this tbh. I was totally playing this, up until the moment I wasn’t. I think me suddenly realizing “hey I can get games digitally now” halfway through this year probably had something to do with this.
Tumblr media
Xenon Valkryie+
This game gave me a headache (because of the hard, randomized gameplay)
Tumblr media
Hyper Sentinel
This game gave me a headache (because of its graphics)
Tumblr media
Overlord: Raising Hell
This game gave me a headache (because of the framerate on the PS3 version)
Tumblr media
Arc the Lad 2
I swear to God, one day I’ll be able to complete a run of this game with a fully cleared save of Arc 1, and it won’t get interrupted by problems like *my computer completely dying on me* or *my hard drive completely dying on me*

SOMEONE.  This game shaped the bar to what I set for puzzle, point-and-click games.  And you’ve got an assistant who will make wisecracks about literally EVERYTHING.  Take two steps, Arthur’s got something to say about where you are.  Maybe more than one thing.  Maybe so many things.  Maybe he’ll accuse you of reading the strategy guide if you complete the game too quickly. The Last Express.  There’s a mobile version of this, someone needs to try it for me!  Another point-and-click, but this one works in real-time.  Characters get on the train, off the train, check rooms on a schedule or off-schedule depending how events go, so not only do you have to explore, you have to explore in a hurry.  The AI controlling the NPCs is brilliant, especially considering that this game came out in the early 90s.Valkyria Chronicles.  Like strategy games? This is the best one I can recommend.  Gameplay switches between overhead to real-time rapidly, though it’s hilarious that an enemy standing right in front of you, rifle pointed, will go “...Well, it’s not my turn yet, so I’ll wait.”Dragon Quest 8: Actually, it’s not on my list.  I gave it away years ago and it was a horrible mistake; I’ve had an intense longing for this game recently.  Does anybody have it, and if you do, my game list is above! Want to trade?!(On a related note, thank you again @ladydragon76 for giving my roommate all the Sims 3 expansions! I came across the boxes while I was looking up my own games.  She loves them all to bits.  You rock, thank you thank you!)

Thoughts on Andromeda
So I beat ME:A, 100% everything (with the exception of a couple minor ‘scan this’ quests, which I’ll get to). I just feel the need to jot this down and organize my feelings on the game.
First, I enjoyed it. I had fun, really, and enjoyed the feeling of exploration and adventure. The combat was smooth, crafting was nice, the graphics for the different worlds were just beautiful, the music and voice acting were decent (except Tann and few minor characters). The characters were interesting and likeable...mostly. Ok here’s where I gotta heel turn a bit.
Spoilers ahead.
The story and characters just felt a bit...bland. Let’s start with the Archon. What’s his goal? What’s his motivation? Well, he’s interested in the remnant. Why? Cause controlling meridian will make it easier to control everything else? The kett already control almost everything. Did he want to use that power to become kett overlord? Do the kett have an overlord? As far as we know he just wanted power cause he’s the bad guy and that’s what bad guys do. How original. Other than him being head of the bad guys, we have no personal reason to hate him.
Let’s look at Saren. How do we feel about him? Well he kills Shep’s mentor, and does it in a really underhanded, backstabby way, so right away we kind of hate him. Plus no one believes Shep when they say he’s gone rogue, so it’s now our personal mission to prove it. Saren also messes with an ancient, powerful, little-understood technology - prothean stuff. But as we learn why, we come to understand his motivations for betraying the council, making him an almost sympathetic character. We learn next to nothing about the Archon and his motivations. The only thing that got me a little personally invested was when he kidnaps Ryder’s twin (who’s barely in the game so he’s basically a stranger but I put a lot of thought into his character design sooo...). Like why not have the Archon be the one who kills Alec? That would give us a great personal stake in bringing down the kett. Maybe he wants the remtech to break away from the kett and start his own cult. I just feel like they could have made a really complex, compelling villain and they just...didn’t. At all. Also I hate his design: big Disney eyes, itty bitty mouth, giant forehead ring...just...stahp.
And I feel like a lot of characters are like that. They’re just...eh. They’re nice. They’re ok. The only squadmates I found interesting were Peebee and Drack. Peebee cause she was actually LIVELY and expressive and sarcastic and fun, and Drack because he’s the only other guy who’s personality isn’t just ‘chill and nice.’ I just didn’t feel an attachment to my ship and crew like I did in ME1. Like seeing the Normandy destroyed and then rebuilt - I honestly felt pretty emotional when they revealed the SR-2. I feel like if the same thing happened to the Tempest I wouldn’t really care.
Now the bulk of the game: go to new planet. Reset vault. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. It was really fun the first time. Seeing the tragedy of the first failed outposts on Eos, discovering how the monoliths and vault worked. Running like hell from the smoke, making a new outpost and seeing a little cutscene of ships flying towards it, finally humanity has a home! Getting a big reaction on the Nexus. What an adventure! Let’s do it 5 more times except the only person who will acknowledge you this time is one reporter. And I guess cryo pod points. Yay. After Eos everything kind of became a blur and it just didn’t feel like much was at stake. I felt like doing quests and raising viability had very little in-game impact (whereas in, say, ME2, you BETTER do those loyalty missions, upgrade your ship, and prioritize timing, or people WILL die).
One last thing...glitches. Everyone’s talking about face animations and such, and yeah they look pretty bad as I was playing Witcher 3 right before Andromeda and man those character animations are SOLID. That didn’t really bug me as much as MY CHARACTER JUST NOT APPEARING IN SOME CUTSCENES. You know movie night, how it ends with your character in the middle of the couch, surrounded by your crew? Mine ended with Jaal with his arm around a fucking GHOST in the middle of the couch. So that glitch happened a few times. Also had some combat glitches that made me have to reset multiple times. My favorite was in the final wave of kett on meridian, I beat the last guy, then a loading screen pops up, which loads...the title screen. I hit resume and it resumes at the beginning of the last kett wave. So I had to fight them all again. Quality gameplay. A bunch of quests were glitched for me too. All the crafting ones (crafted everything, none of it counted), one where I have to finish by talking to one guy, which I did, but the quest didn’t count it and now when I try to talk to him nothing happens, and since these glitches are keeping me from ticking off all the sidequest boxes, I left a couple of the tedious ‘scan these bodies’ ‘find these datapads’ type quests unfinished. If I can’t get true 100% what’s the point?
So yeah...I don’t regret playing it, I’m just disappointed by how it could have been so much more. In ME1 I found playing Shepard really empowering (something I find really lacking in the Ryder character), the story motivated me to move forward chasing Saren, the mysteries about the protheans, geth and reapers made me want to know more, and rewarded that curiosity with real answers. Basically this game just made me want to play the original trilogy over again, which I definitely will.
Feel free to add your own comments or correct any points I made! It’s entirely possible I missed some things.

Mass Effect 2
Tumblr media
Oh BOY this game is good. This is my favorite game in the series. I love it. The gameplay is so much tighter than the first one, it’s got more, and more interesting, characters than the other two (I’m not saying Liara, Wrex, and James aren’t interesting, I’m saying Ashley and Kaidan aren’t interesting), and most importantly it gives you the option to cuddle with your final romance choice whenever the hell you want after you finish the main story, WHICH YOU CAN CONTINUE PLAYING THE GAME AFTER.
Let’s set my obvious adoration for this game aside for now and talk story. The Normandy is destroyed and Shepard is killed by a mysterious ship. After two years, Cerberus was able to bring Shepard back from the dead, outfit him with the SR2 Normandy, and have recruited him to investigate, and put a stop to, the Collectors abductions of human colonies. Along the way Shepard recruits a huge cast of characters, new and old, to help him fight off the Collectors. These characters include Jacob Taylor, the human head of security for Cerberus’s Lazarus Project, Miranda Lawson, the head of the Lazarus Project, Mordin Solus, a brilliant Salarian doctor and former STG operative, Garrus Vakarian, previous Turrian squadmate and famed vigilante of Omega, Jack, an extremely powerful human biotic and former Cerberus guinea pig for horrifying experiments, Grunt, a tank born Krogan with greater than average anger issues, Tali’Zorrah Vas Neema, previous Quarian squadmate and the Quarian’s foremost authority on all things Geth, Samara/Morinth, an Asari Justicar/Ardat-Yakshi and all around badass biotic, Thane Krios, the Drell assassin with a crippling degenerative genetic disorder, and Legion, the hyper advanced Geth with a heart of gold. I love all of these characters a LITTLE too much.
Mass Effect 2 has a TON of DLCs as well. Normandy Crash site allows you to explore where the Normandy got shot down, collecting dog tags, your own helmet, and memories of the old Normandy, as well as establish a monument to the fallen. Zaeed - The Price of Revenge adds the human mercenary with a vendetta against the Blue Suns mercenary group, Zaeed Massani as a recuritable squadmate. Firewalker adds the hammerhead vehicle to pilot around, and a small side story about Cerberus scientists tracking down a Prothean device and going mad. Kasumi - Stolen memory adds another squadmate in the form of the greatest thief in the galaxy, Kasumi Goto, and perhaps the best loyalty mission and gun in the game (the Locust is SO good). Overlord adds a story about Cerberus experimenting with AI technology and the Geth, and is a really atmospheric and genuinely creepy story. Lair of the Shadow Broker brings Liara T’soni, former Asari squadmate and archeologist, back to the team temporarily to track down and take down the Shadow Broker for the events in Mass Effect: Redemption. Finally, Arrival adds a story of Shepard going solo into a Batarian military outpost to liberate an Alliance scientist, only to find that her and her whole team have been indoctrinated by the reapers. All of these stories (with the exception of Firewalker, which was kinda boring) are extremely fun and memorable and add so much to the series lore and overall story.
The gameplay is a HUGE step up from the first game. It polishes up the combat mechanics, makes interacting with the world much less tedious (removing the fairly annoying armor system, treasure chests that weren’t worth opening, and omnigel), and makes leveling up much more streamlined. My only gripes are that they changed the controls (never a good idea to do mid series) and made the guns work on an ammo system. The ammoless guns from the first game were an interesting idea, and I really wish they had stuck to that model. The graphics also got a bit of an upgrade, but that’s not too important in my opinion.
I adore this game. The characters are fun and engaging, the story is, while small and heavily reliant on DLCs to give it staying power, interesting and really cool. Mass Effect was a good game already, but Mass Effect 2 really raised the bar for me. Every time I see the Normandy get shot down I get a little choked up, and every time I go into battle against the final boss is a rush. This game is spectacular through and through. Granted, the only reason this game is the best in my opinion is the large selection of squadmates and the aforementioned cuddling thing. Otherwise, 3 is probably the better game all around.
This marks us being a third of the way through the series. Come back next time for Mass Effect: Homeworlds #1.

Hell let Loose holds all the promise of realistic, platoon-based World War II shooter. With vehicle combat, combined with strategy elements including resources and airstrikes that can be called in from off the map, this WW II title has a lot going for it. Aiming to raise AU$136,000 (roughly $106,000/£80,000), Developer Black Matter has launched a Kickstarter campaign, which finishes before the end of this month (October 2017).
Indie developer Black Matter decided that they would only begin our Kickstarter campaign once they had a playable client from end to end. That means launching the application, connecting to a server and actually playing the game at an Alpha level of quality. Black Matter are thrilled that they can do all those things, and that all funds from this Kickstarter will go towards fleshing out and widening the scope of what they feel is already a deep experience. The team has released a nine-minute gameplay video that focuses on one squad protecting a capture point, of which there will be multiple on any given map.
As you can see from the gameplay video there are a few glitches or improvements that will need to be ironed out to improve the player’s immersion, namely the recoil. (which appears to be nearly nonexistent). There is still a lot we do not know, like how the strategy elements will work yet. One player will take on a commander role that will presumably oversee the battlefield and issue instructions to the 50 soldiers on their team, but there’s not much detail on that. What we do know is that capturing different points on the map will yield different resources: holding a fuel depot will allow your side to refuel vehicles faster and controlling a munitions depot will let you launch off-map naval strikes.
In Hell let Loose, Communication will be key, as there’s almost no HUD (or crosshairs) to speak of which ties into the theme of realism, and there’s a heavy emphasis on player positioning and team movement in the field.
13 different combat roles are available for players, and again it is unclear how effective the these roles will be or how role selection on the battlefield will change the dynamic of the fight.
Apart from the slight items that need to be developed, we think it’s well worth keeping an eye on. As with most kickstarters, there’s a variety of pledge levels, and $24.95 (roughly £18.65) will get you a Steam Early Access key when the game migrates to the platform next year, and the game when released will be around the $29.99 mark. A closed alpha is due early next year.
From the developer:
Hell let Loose Key Features
HUGE BATTLES – 100 players per game, 50 per team
COORDINATE – Win through teamwork, tactics, and communication
A NEW METAGAME – Capture sectors and resources to beat your enemy into submission
COMBINED ARMS – Over 20 different player-controlled vehicles and deployed weapons
EPIC THEATER OF WAR – Do battle across a 1:1 scale 4 kilometer-squared map
MORE THAN THE TWITCH – Supply, capture and building systems
EXPERIENCE HISTORY – Historically accurate arsenal with realistic weapon behavior
A MODERN ENGINE – Developed for Unreal Engine 4
Warfare Game Mode
Instead of capturing a small flag, the entire map is divided into capture sectors – forcing each team of 50 players to make continual tactical decisions as to where they should attack and defend. When a sector is captured, it will generate one of three resources for your team, creating a complex metagame that will influence your push to victory.
Will the cost of spending Fuel on a Tiger tank inflict significant enough damage to the enemy to wrest control of the western flank? Will the Munitions spent on a Typhoon strafing run clear the distant hedgerows and open a path to the town of Carentan? Can the bridgehead at Feuilly be maintained without sustaining devastating losses to your Manpower?
3 Levels of warfare
Strategic
Play as the Commander and decide on the grand strategy as you deploy your forces and adapt to the ever changing situation on the ground. Communicating via radio, it will be up to you to summon reinforcements, supplies and powerful aerial and naval strikes while accurately assessing the situation on the front line.
Operational
Establish supply lines of trucks, transport vehicles and armored recovery vehicles. Supplies will allow your forces to construct minefields, defenses, and Garrisons. Failure to supply the front line will result in a devastating collapse.
Tactical
Play as an Officer and establish Observation Posts and Garrisons before working to determine the best course of attack or defense for your unit. Mark targets with your binoculars to notify the Commander and work together to flank, reinforce, supply and obliterate the enemy.
Epic Maps
Our first epic theater of war captures the beauty and foreboding of the Norman countryside in the early weeks of Operation Overlord, 1944.
Dense woodland, hedgerows and canals frame rolling stretches of open countryside, while small villages and towns provide the perfect choke-points to command crossroads and high ground.
It takes approximately fifteen minutes to cross on foot, and our unique capture territory system demands a new strategy and offers a totally different experience every time. Instead of pushing in a linear tug-of-war, you will be forced to fight across a realistically wide battlefield with an ever-developing front line.
Will you roll armour into Brecourt Manor from the west in order to quickly secure the northern approach, or will you attempt to choke the enemy in the stretches of open farmland between the eastern crossroads and the orchards that encircle St Marie Du Mont? Or will you become bogged down in house to house fighting as you battle tooth and nail to take the Manor at Hauchemail?
Realistic Vehicles
Deliver supplies to the front in an Opel Blitz supply truck, roll across the fields in a Sherman Firefly, flee a fearsome Panther tank in a Jeep or bombard the enemy position in a Priest. We plan to introduce up to 20+ vehicles into the game to serve a wide variety of functions.
Our first priority will be the inclusion of Supply and Transport vehicles before we widen the scope to the most prolific vehicles (Panzer IV, Sherman) and then introduce interesting variants such as the Sherman Calliope, Puma SdKfz 234 and Tiger II.
Realistic Weapon
The 16+ historically accurate rifles, sub-machine guns, light machine guns, heavy machine guns, pistols and assault rifles are all accessible in realistic limitation. With no crosshair, a focus on realistic weapon behavior including jamming and overheating barrels, and a brutal suppression system. Hell let Loose gets as close to the historical truth of the conflict as possible without becoming tedious or chore-laden.
Grenades, mines, mortars, heavy ordnance, anti-tank and tank rounds dismember, while flamethrowers light up the morning sky. Each one of the 14 playable roles will be equipped with a unique array of equipment inspired by their historical counterparts.
