How can I not feel bitter if I played the game expecting OzMafia have a really really good ending! And that's it??? They are now all happy?? Everything is back to normal?? Nooooo! Hamelin's life ain't back to normal! It's all Soh's fault and now I hate him. I feel disgusted that I pity Soh from his route.

The quarantine boredom finally got to me

Aaa, no, but really, back in one of my previous posts I mentioned that there were character profiles in this Ozmafia!! Vivace booklet. I didn’t have the time or energy to attempt to translate the full profiles back then, but due to recent circumstances (´;ω;) I decided to finally give it a shot.

*Note:  Most of what I had to translate was easy enough considering I was working with just words and not full on sentences. There were some parts that tripped me up (of which I included the original Japanese characters along w/ a tentative definition in this post; if anyone can help me with these parts, please DM me). Otherwise, I did the best I could with what I previously know about the language, a Japanese dictionary, and Google Translate. If anyone wants to see the original character profiles to check for any errors in translation, don’t hesitate to reach out to me through this account!*

[OZMAFIA!!] Game Review

I finally finished all endings of the game and got all CGs! 

Really enjoyed playing OZMAFIA!! and I’m so glad a friend decided to gift me this game. Not the best otome game out there, but definitely one of the better ones. Although there might be some not-so-good parts, I personally think the amount of content in this game makes the price worth it. If you get it on sale, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth (and maybe more)!

Story

The main points of the story are, unfortunately, mostly squished in the epilogue and grand ending. For most routes that you play in the game, the plot is simplistic, focuses on the relationship of the chosen partner, and barely touches upon the main character’s past or current circumstances. If you really want to know what the hell is going on, you’ll unfortunately have to get to the end content.

Grand Ending

The grand ending was so nice!! I’m so glad I got cute Soh back. Also, I’m happy that Kyrie finally got some sort of closure on his burden. Overall, just a very neat way to end things. I just wish they’d shown how Hamelin was in the end! I just really want good things for him.

Art

The art in this game is gorgeous! Actually, my friend told me that she chose to gift me this game out of everything in my wish list based on the art. To be honest, what drew me to this game at first was the art as well. The CGs are stunning, making them a joy to collect. And the character designs are beautiful!

Here are the characters with routes, in order from my most favorite. This takes into account every appearance they have made. This list does not reflect how much I enjoyed their routes.

It’s rare for a character that caught my eye at the start to actually stay on top in my rankings by the end. In that sense, Caesar was pretty amazing. Kyrie would probably be lower than Caramia without the epilogue and grand ending. Soh would have been high up, right after Hamelin, without the epilogue and grand ending.

If I were to include some of the other characters, Hansel and Gretel would be right next to Caesar. Ande would be right before Pashet. Manboy would be right after Kyrie. Alfani would be after Robin. Dorian Gray would be dead last no matter what. 

Routes

In terms of routes, I’m ranking starting from the ones I enjoyed most. This takes into account both endings for that route. But this does not consider the transfer/love triangle endings for the Oz boys. Just because a route is ranked low, doesn’t mean the story was bad. It just means it wasn’t my cup of tea. The reverse is true as well.

I’m not a fan of transfer routes (where you go to one guy, change your mind, then choose another) so I didn’t play it with enthusiasm so I won’t review it properly. However, since I did play it just to get the grand ending, I only have one thing to say (spoiler warning!): The transfer routes would have been so much better if Fuka cleanly cut off the previous relationship before sleeping with the next guy. I can’t believe she did that every. single. time.

10 Days Otome Challenge  Day 1: Most and Least Favorite Otome Game

Most favorite: OZMAFIA!!

I considered putting 7KPP (7 Kingdoms: The Princess Problem) here, but thought that since it’s an unfinished game, I’ll give the spot to OZMAFIA!! Amazing art, story, music, and characters! I’ve been a big fan of The Wizard of Oz series since I was a kid, so finding an otome game incorporating that concept was almost too good to be true. While I did not love all the routes (really, I’d just like to befriend the other characters, haha), they were all enjoyable. I’d find myself randomly giggling while reading the conversations. It’s a really well-written game! Also, I love the love triangle feature that they included in the game. It was really inventive of them! I could not imagine the amount of headache they had to endure just to make it work, haha! A Hansel and Gretel route would have been nice though...and a full route for H*melin!  ٩(ఠ益ఠ)۶

Least favorite: Diabolik Lovers 

Disclaimer: I don’t hate this game! Haha. I played this game on Japanese (I had to rely on online translations), and actually finished a few routes! I dropped this game because I was not really 100% comfortable with it. I guess it’s popular because of its sadist-masochist elements, but it’s just not for me! The art is incredible though! (Same artist as OZMAFIA)  (´ ω `♡)

OZMAFIA!! Part 6 - Soh Route

Soh is so hardworking to handle a store by himself and earn most of the money for the Wolf Gang! It’s so impressive~ Nice that the heroine visits him while he’s working, I’m sure he appreciates the down time. They have a lot of festivals run by the different mafia families! That sounds pretty fun and crazy hahaha.

I’m surprised that the Grimms bake bread and that Hansel and Gretel deliver bread to Soh every morning! This is going to sound mean but I really thought that all they do is cause trouble ahahaha. HAHAHA when Axel got the heroine to go with him to Soh’s shop just so he can order a parfait without looking weird lolol so cuteeee that he’s all embarrassed about it hahaha! Soh is right though, men can like sweets too! He doesn’t need to be embarrassed about it! Just like how women can eat lots of meat and food too! We shouldn’t be limited by our supposed gender roles!

Scarlet is right though. Looking at Soh and Fuka interacting, it really does feel like they’re not a part of the mafia world of conflict. I guess they’re like the embodiment of peace haha. I wonder how long that will last though… Their innocence and kindness won’t be able to save them…or will it? Btw, Soh is really amazing to get Ande, Heidi and even Pashet acknowledge how good he is at his work and his cooking! I don’t think there’s a single person that doesn’t like him hahaha, he’s probably won over every single character with his personality and food. It’s probably because he’s such a gentle and soothing guy that is great at cooking. Who wouldn’t want a Soh in their mafia family?! I wonder how Caesar got him hahaha.

I don’t know if I ignored it or missed it but I never realised that Soh lives in the slums.. I always assumed he was with the Wolf Gang but I guess he’s more neutral..? I like how Soh is like a guy that seems to have no personality considering how perfect and kind he is etc, but he really does have a personality. He cares about the heroine, he protects her from Caesar even though he shouldn’t be, he works hard for Caesar but also for himself and most importantly, he enjoys it! Maybe he seems happy go lucky but I think he’s more of a guy that has instead understood that regardless of how things are, it’s better to face it with a smile and so I like his attitude.

I mean, it’s nice that she feels sad to not see Soh for the week, but seriously!! The slums are dangerous!! She knows that and yet she still goes! Not a good idea, Fuka… If Soh didn’t find her, she wouldn’t have been able to be safely found by Kyrie and Axel later! I guess it’s true that she should join Oz or leave… She is a freeloader haha… And they can’t take care of her forever especially with how tell reckless she is.. I do wonder how Soh will handle this though… He’s so bold to suggest eloping to get away from this town that prevents them from being friends! It’s scary to think what can be outside but it’s nice that they’re willing to face it as long as they can be together. It’s surprising that he’s willing to give up Caesar and everything in town for her though!

A guy that cooks AND cleans?! Please give Soh to me ty. How cute of him to ask if he can kiss her😙 Of course you can, Soh!😍 Their peaceful lives are so endearing, just makes it all the more painful when they get separated I guess… I’m shocked that he actually stabbed Caesar though… Although I’m also sad that Caesar intended on killing Soh to get to Fuka and kill her too (for whatever reason). I guess that must have caused his fever (forcing them to go back to town), he was probably exhausted physically and emotionally from that duel.. Or I guess they just can’t escape from the shackles of the town no matter what…

I’m honestly surprised that they didn’t get their happy ending. I didn’t know how they’d get together but I thought it would be happy regardless. Now it’s just bittersweet in a sense because he at least states that he’ll always be watching over her, but can never appear before her again and give her the happiness and freedom she deserves….which is so saddening😭 it honestly kinda hurts to see this….

On to the next ending! I think what Soh said about moving forward was right. If we focus too much on looking forward, we’ll start to forget the reason why you continue to move on when you’re not looking back at what you’re carrying on your back and what you left behind. It’s important to have a balance. Although I guess that is only simple in theory. It’s kinda crazy to think that the heroine is so much more important to him than Caesar now though. I see, so either way, either Fuka or Soh will have a fever, forcing them to go back to town..

Why does Fuka’s memories of Soh have to be erased for her to get better? Can she not function if she remembers anything related to Oz? I feel like I’m missing a lot of things… It’s nice that at least in the last CG, they could happily share some moments together even if she doesn’t remember anything between them. But sigh.. It’s terrible that they don’t get together in either ending. I guess, like Soh said, no matter what they do, they just can’t be together.

so I finished scarlet’s and kyrie’s routes without a guide.

scarlet was sweet and seems like a good kid. I wonder if he’s supposed to be a kid forever? like a 14-16 y/o. baby boy. he would hate that lmao. his route didn’t seem very tragic at least. I mean, I guess it sucks seeing your hero become the complete opposite of their/your ideals. but I guess I have to wonder why wouldn’t the heroine run to the grimm famiglia to save scarlet? I guess hansel and gretel might have killed her, but I mean, idk.

kyrie is a fucking pain in the ass, and I like him being stupid as fuck instead. but I feel bad about him like. constantly wanting to be smarter. also that he, you know, went on his journey already to receive the prize of his brain? like he already worked for it. but I think I understand why he gave the heroine his necklace.

interesting to see the after playing a route and starting a new one, you get a little scene that makes it kind of seem like the previous love interest somehow remembers something, but they can’t quite put their finger on it.

now I’m trying a pashet run sooo. lol. I really like her character so far. very respectable. honorable. I love honorable types with strong convictions. hehe....................

I’ll probably go through all of the routes again with a guide after going through each of them without one first.

I liked the doctor route, but that shit was mega fucked up lmao. I kind of didn’t like one part, but....... yeah.

I also really like axel. probably my favorite so far. I always love characters that are like emotionally stupid? kind of? and they’re all cold and stoic, but eventually warm up and becoming kinder and more loving. hehe. I feel like I said that last time. oh well.

every route feels kind of. bittersweet, I guess.
