Last one of these! Thought I’d go out with some more Thalton lore, as I’ve taken to calling them.

She slapped him away, and before Jack could even register the tingling sensation in his cheek, she’d shoved him aside, flipped him, and her bony elbows were digging into his ribs. The perfume on her neck was tangy, and his finger twitched with the urge to grab her head and smack his lips off of hers.

“I win.” Her smile was proud, showing off a glimpse of her top set of teeth.

“You cheated.” Jack said with an air of annoyance, pushing her off so he could move. She was upright before him, lanky limbs stretching out at angles Jack knew he couldn’t match. “You used your…femininity against me.”

She offered him a hand to help him stand, but he ignored it. He wasn’t actually mad at her…not really, but he also knew she wasn’t an idiot, and she knew what she was doing. Proving that he could stand up on his own two feet felt like his last scrap of dignity.

“And who’s to say a merc in the field won’t do that to you?” Patti smirked as she grabbed her water bottle from the other side of the room.

“A merc in the field won’t have history with me.” Jack countered, copying her motion and grabbing his own drink.

#TBT I had thought for the longest time that I first saw @lauragbert in the summer of 2017 when she showed up in the Explore tab on Instagram in her Harley Quinn cosplay, and I was like, “Ooh! Harley!” And then, it sorta snowballed from there. But then a couple of months ago, I had a revelation, “Hey! Laura’s the Harley Quinn that shows up in Finchy’s vlog from PAX Australia 2016! That’s definitely her!”

So, yeah, it turns out that I had already seen Laura before the “first time” I saw her. She was one of a few cosplayers that showed up in my old friend DeFinch’s video on YouTube. I just didn’t realize that was the case on that day in 2017. Which means it’s been six-going-on-seven years since I first discovered Laura Gilbert.

Anyway, that’s the story of the first time I saw Laura.

Side note: Damn, I miss Finchy’s streams.

okay fuckit, gather 'round: it's gubbles' storytime. girl's band cry hyperfixation be damned, it's bringing up so many Things in my heart. i say i've never performed live onstage, but that's not entirely true. while a far shot from actually taking part in a band and playing a show, allow me to tell you the tale of the closest I ever got to that: a random session at jamspace, pax east, 2016.

.......... senior year of college, i was brought onboard with another group of students who had not only completed a game demo for a class project, but wanted to take it further. a lil VR game, simple in concept and clean in execution, i was invited to do music and audio for it. (i was, of course, the sole game audio/music-focused student on campus, as my school's gamedev program didn't really have a dedicated audio designer track). ultimately it fizzled out and not much came of it, but for a good chunk of time it was everything. our future ambitions, something to carry us forth from graduation on into the industry, to cement our own little foothold in the vast world of game development. we took the train to boston so many times, showed off our game at SO MANY local events, hell i had never known how to navigate a complex subway system, and here we were sifting through every few weeks or so. it was a wild fucking time, and honestly? i wish i could experience it again. something about the weaving of fantastical future prospects with the tangible, corporeal experience of it all. once foreign subway systems, sprawling in a subterranean web of concrete and metal, the sidewalks of city streets lit by the glow of the city, now strangely familiar in such a short span of time... *ahem* right, where was i... right, pax east. our school provided a limited number of booths for teams to show off their projects at pax east, and being one of the big promising projects stirring up on campus, we were granted a spot. (actually i had TWO spots because two separate projects/teams i took part in got accepted, so i had to pull double duty for a lot of it LMFAO). i've been to pax before, but as a fan and attendee, not as a developer. so this was an entirely new experience... ...and that experience was having the booth you sit at all day right next to the massive league of legends (ew) stage!! they blasted music constantly! half of it was just percussion loops from Heavyocity's Damage, and i know because I RECOGNIZED THOSE PERCUSSION SOUNDS and even USED SOME OF THEM IN THE PROJECT I WAS WORKING ON. see, the convention floor is loud. like. incredibly fucking loud. it's one thing if you're walking around as a fan, you've got other talks in siderooms to go to, and you can always step out and get some fresh air if you're feeling overwhelmed. but ya can't do that when you're on shift to demo your game to con attendees for the next several hours, can ya? :3c so yeah, long story short, i got sick. real fuckin sick. i had to YELL over the din of the convention the entire time, and after just one day, i had already lost my voice. and i mean COMPLETELY LOST MY VOICE. i could not speak, only painfully croak. i had to resort to crude hand gestures and typing shit on my phone to communicate. it was rooouughhh. and after bringing this up with my teammates, they agreed to cover my shifts, and let me rest. because the con was so fucking loud, and i was still stuck there sick all day, i informed my team that i would be headed to the jamspace room to pick up earplugs. and by "earplugs" i mean. haha well. lets justr say. a bass guitar. (srry for screenshot but tumblr hated this paragraph for some reason and kept blocking the post):

i was sick as fuck, and for sake of my health, should probably not have pushed myself. HOWEVER. i would NOT i repeat *NOT* let this sole opportunity to slip me by... i've always wanted to perform with other musicians, so fuck it, i am doing this. so the next twelve minutes i shuffled my sickly ass alll the way around to the room at the very end of the hall. i had taken note of the open-stage timeslots the day prior. i had one hour to do this shit. one hour to make the dream come true. i cannot describe the nervousness i felt going into that whole thing. i lied to my teammates. i couldn't speak. a dark room with a little clipboard to fill out a timeslot and instrument, and an empty, brightly lit stage on the other side of it. but i shuffled stage right, strapped on this bass, and asked for a pick (because im a fake bassist). and. holy shit.

i had no voice, but with that bass strapped to me? i could make the entire room *shake*. and words cannot describe how utterly fucking powerful that felt.

a few other randos took up the other instruments. i don't remember much about them, only that they intimidated the HELL out of me. i had done like concert band in high school, i've jammed on instruments in my room, but this? this is something entirely different. we played through a couple tracks... they kept suggesting "hey how about x song from y band?" but my stupid-ass doesn't have a degree in classic rock like everyone else apparently does, so i shrugged and said i didn't know how to play it. we finally settled on the one song suggested that i was, at least passingly, familiar with... metallica's enter sandman lmfaO the "passingly" there is very important, because while i know the general flow and structure, i wasn't sure about the specifics. when we got to the first pre-chorus, i notice something had shifted, and i was no longer playing the right notes. i must've either sounded terrible or look visibly confused, because the guitarist to my left turned toward me, angled his fretboard to be clearly in view, and taught me how to play the riff while performing it onstage. and i did it!! i picked it up, just like that!! it was just the earlier bit but transposed up a few steps or smth, but god, just. that little moment right there? that quick moment of guidance mid-performance? holy fuck that is magical. the other awesome moment was somewhere in the bridge, like. okay. i could barely hear myself, as the guitars and vocals and cymbals right behind me were all incredibly loud (they didn't have earplugs btw lol). but i wasn't sure i was like, contributing much to the song? and while i admittedly improvised this bit, for the build up into the final chorus, i stopped playing. i let the guitar and the drums have their space. and slowly, quietly, high up on the fretboard, built back up until WHAM, i come back in full force with the chorus. IT WAS SO COOL. LIKE. the mix sounded so weak and thin without me, and the contrast of making the entire fucking room violently vibrate with the flick of my wrist on the downbeat? holy FUCK. IT'S MAGICAL. MAGIC IS REAL Y'ALL AND IT IS ONSTAGE. anyway yeah, played that song, some members swapped out but no one else was signed up for bass, so i stuck on for a lil longer. another guitarist taught me how to play one of the splatoon themes, and while it was fun, the drummer kept us both going on that one riff for a looot longer than we wanted to lmfao fun fact! none of my team knew i did this!! they probably would've been PISSED had they found out!! actually they stole my con pass on the third morning, which made sense cause they had someone else fill in for me at the booth, but none of it was communicated to me and i was piiiiised. wound up navigating the subway and trains back home, all by myself, for the first time. but YEAH it was AMAZING. it wasn't an established band playing a local show, it was just a bunch of randos fucking around. and god. i... i really want to be part of a band someday. i want to feel this again.

even if just for one show, for one song, for one moment... i need to feel the weight of the room underneath my fingertips.

What do you think Chim& Eddie are gonna involve with the hangar ( bts of Kenny & ryan)

Have I missed some obscure bts with Kenny and Ryan in it? If not, then I assume it would play out like an actual aircraft emergency.

If it comes to the scenario where an amateur on the plane has to be instructed through landing the crippled airplane, it'll probably be the responsibilities of air traffic control and whatever professional flight instructors invited to the tower. It's not just about guiding the plane towards the airport, it's also about diverting other traffic away, clearing the airspace for the emergency landing.

The first responders called in to help out would obviously wait on the side until the plane actually lands/crashes. I guess Chim, Eddie and Hen would be briefed by the commander of the emergency about the course of actions once the plane arrive. Maybe they'll be studying the layout of that particular aircraft just to further improve the efficiency of the evacuation. Modern airliners are required to be able to completely evacuated in 90 seconds, so that might be a challenge for regular firefighters working outside of the airport.

So, in real life, an emergency landing requires 3 different kinds of responses: fire suppression, medical assistance, and rescue.

If the plane is not physically on fire, the fire suppression team, usually the airport firefighters in the crash trucks, would drive around the aircraft and inspect for any possible fire. If the plane is on fire, they would be laying foam on the ground to aide evacuation, then spray whatever foam or water they have to stop the plane from burning. A burning plane releases a lot of toxic fume. Like the Haneda runway collision that happened at the start of this year, fire engines were called in from al across Tokyo in an attempt to contain the fire. They didn't succeed, so they left the A350 to burn itself out.

Any kind of emergency landing, no matter how severe, would still require the full attention of the medical team. Injured passengers/crew onboard would have to be tended to, obviously, but an emergency evacuation via slides is likely to injure passengers as well. It's a steep slide, and everyone is pushed to get off the plane ASAP, so a lot of sprain ankles and broken bones are to be expected. So I can imagine the 118 helping the pax escape and provide essential medical help.

If the emergency landing goes badly and it breaks into several parts, trapping passengers inside, a rescue team would be needed in order to free them, before the aircraft completely destroy itself. That would be some high stake drama, because a broken plane filled with jet fuel can explode anytime.

Even if the plane landed in one piece, it's still not totally safe for the first responders. Emirates, the flag carrier of Dubai prides itself over having no passenger or crew fatalities in its entire operation, right? Well, a 777 crash landed back in 2016. Sure, all of the pax escaped unharmed, but 7 firefighters were injured and another one was killed when an engine suddenly exploded.

So to answer your question, I don't know for sure what they'll be doing at the airport. But I hope it's some cool firefighter saving people stuff with high stakes.

Also from forever ago, like 2016 Pax Melb I think? I probably did about a hundred edits that I never posted in all different styles of various cosplay. Mainly didn’t post it since I didn’t really know where to since it didn’t really fit thematically with my art. I did it a few more years too but in the end I just wasted days-weeks for zero return and to top it all off some people were high key rude and entitled.  I remember one guy demanded I email him the HD photos for free since it was his cosplay which I did since I was just chill and doing this for fun. Afterwards he proceeds to send me random low quality shots begging for them to be edited for free. Sort of eternally jaded me after all that but some people were super grateful and nice which was sweet. Ngl I did take some people’s pictures simply due to how excited and happy it made them but yeah cosplay photography is no bueno.  On the contrary I do have like over a hundred cosplay pics I have no idea what to do with. I did post a Black Widow cosplay to Imgur/Reddit once and it hit the front page of the internet for a day but it just felt so unrewarding.

A man has attacked six people, including a police officer, with a knife at a market square in the south-west German city of Mannheim, police say.

One of the people injured was anti-Islam activist, Michael Stürzenberger, who had been preparing to hold a rally in the square, according to his group.

The incident was caught on a YouTube livestream and showed the attacker stabbing a man, and then a police officer who went to help. The officer is in a critical condition.

The attacker was shot and injured by another police officer.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz described the incident as “terrible”, and that his thoughts were with the victims.

He posted on X: “Violence is absolutely unacceptable in our democracy. The perpetrator must be severely punished.”

Police in Mannheim tweeted about a "major police operation" in the city's market square and a rescue helicopter was sent to the scene.

One person attacked several others with a knife, injuring them, at 11:35 (10:35 BST), police said in a follow-up statement.

A firearm was then used against the attacker, it added.

The attack is understood to have happened at the same time as a rally in the market square hosted by far-right anti-Islam activist, Michael Stürzenberger, and his organisation the Citizens' Movement Pax Europa (BPE).

A spokeswoman for the city of Mannheim confirmed that the organisation had registered an event on the market square for Friday morning.

BPE confirmed to Bild newspaper that Mr Stürzenberger was attacked in the leg and face.

His colleague Stefanie Kizina told the newspaper that Mr Stürzenberger has to undergo surgery, but his life was not in danger.

"The attack happened before the event even started, it must have been planned well in advance," she said.

Police have not released any further information about those injured in the attack.

Local newspaper Mannheimer Morgen has reported that the attacker injured six people, including five BPE members and one police officer.

According to DPA, the police officer was in a critical condition and will have to undergo emergency surgery.

A livestreamed video from the event shows a man attacking people with a knife. At least one person is seen with a wound to the leg.

A number of bystanders are seen grappling with the attacker, who later manages to break free and stab a police officer in the back.

Several police officers with firearms then surround him, before he falls to the ground.

The identity of the attacker and his motive is still not known, but Germany's Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, said there was a possibility that the attack could be Islamist motivated.

Mannheimer Morgen, citing a police spokesperson, also said a political motive cannot be ruled out.

Who is Michael Stürzenberger?

According to Bild, Michael Stürzenberger is the author of an Islamophobic blog, as well as a member of the BPE, an organisation which says it stands against the "Islamisation" of Germany.

The 58-year-old is one of the authors of the anti-Muslim platform PI-News and is being monitored by the Bavarian domestic intelligence service.

A former politician, Mr Stürzenberger once led a small right-wing populist party Die Freiheit, which was dissolved in 2016.

Before that, he was a member of the Christian Social Union (CSU) - the Bavarian sister party of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) - but left before he was kicked out.

“It’s alright.” Jack responded, eyes flickering from the road to her gaunt face. He couldn’t tell if her dim features were circumstantial, or due to the glaze on his sunglasses. “It’s the least I could do…after I almost crashed your car.”

He looked back to the road before he could see her reaction, but a sharp fist to the arm with a following hiss of pain let him know how she felt about the fact he’d driven her Aston Martin without her permission.

Forcément, puisque, en tant que Elie réincarné ici-bas, mais aussi Adama, par la Grâce de Dieu, j'ai reçu de nombreuses Connaissances qui ne sont pas forcément compatibles avec les apprentissages républicains, puisque ceux-ci n'ont qu'un objectif : celui de détruire l'humanité, mais surtout les âmes ! Elliot was officially declared cancer free in 2010. She celebrated by buying herself a cake and bringing it to Brad and Anna’s. The cake was chocolate covered with ganache. It tasted delicious! She shared it with them and her little sister, Shiloh. At seven years old, she had caught up to other children her age due to their love, patience, and commitment. She was shy around people she didn’t know but a chatterbox when she was with people she knew.

She had an imagination that reminded Brad of Elliot. Did she play with Barbies? Yes. Yes, she did. He had come full circle and he found that hilarious! She played with Barbies until she was twelve, having grown out of them. Instead, she interested herself in books. She read American Girl and other age-appropriate literature.

Brad and Anna had broken up in 2012. They shared custody of their daughter. As a single father, he adopted three children: Pax from Vietnam, Zahara from Ethiopia, and Maddox from Cambodia. He then hired a surrogate, who gifted him twins, Vivienne and Knox. His family was complete. The younger children got along well with their sister, Shiloh.

Because of the age gap, they only saw Elliot occasionally as she was working. After Anna, he was involved in a relationship with Angelina Jolie. That relationship was toxic. She was very sexual and was prone to fits if she thought he was leaving her. He found out that she had Borderline Personality Disorder but wasn’t receiving treatment.

She threw things at him and threatened suicide if he ever left her. As a result, he started drinking to get away and he became an alcoholic. Anna begged him to get help but he was too afraid of losing the children.

Angelina was very good at playing the victim and he knew she would make it seem as if he was abusing her. Everyone would believe her. How did he know? Because it happened to men all the time. The children were taken out of the house and moved in with Anna. He finally got sober in 2016 after leaving the abusive relationship. It was because his friend, Bradley Cooper convinced him he needed help.

They had watched as she swept the floor, disposed of manure, removed mud from the horses’ hooves, brushed their coats, refilled their water, and checked their food.

It was a lot of work, especially when Lady and Duchess got impatient while she cleaned their hooves. Duchess stamped her foot, causing her to flinch. She got her bearings and sighed before putting her tools down on her lap. The horses were like children, who were fighting against taking a bath. If she didn’t remove the dirt, they could become infected.

“Hey! Not today!”

Duchess bowed her head to apologize. She kissed her forehead and forgave her. I love you. She loved her, too. The guys laughed. They could hear her clean hooves hitting the cement floor. Horses were interesting animals. They were taller than them, so they were a little intimidated but she trusted them. Lady came over to check on her sister because she heard the human scolding her. She let her know she was okay. Okay.

Lady went back to walking around the open area of the building. Once she was done with her chores, they went back inside. She excused herself to change clothes. They went to the living room, where the cats and dogs were resting in front of the fireplace. Phoenix was intrigued to see if it was a real fireplace. It was. It burned real wood and it wasn’t just heat coming out. He was impressed. Outside, they got a great view of the Rocky Mountains in the distance.

They also got a great look at a bison walking past the windows. It was huge and it was staring back at them. They stood in awe just watching the creature until it moved on. Holy shit! When she came back down, they told her about it. Yeah, she’s seen them many times. The first time she saw a bear, she freaked out. It took her brain to figure out that it couldn’t hurt her because she was inside.

But it was so fucking scary while also being so cool! She saw bears, bison, boars, birds, elk, mountain lions, and so many other animals during the spring and summer. When she went hiking, she brought a weapon just in case. She also read up on how to prevent attacks. It had never happened but never say never. She was in their territory and they were just defending it. Though she did consider getting a small handgun she needed a license for that.

What was the weapon she bought? It was a wooden bat she found at Target. She carried it with her at all times. They didn’t like guns, though they could understand why she would want one. It was for protection. Bears and mountain lions could easily attack her. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea. What did she need to do to get a license?

They looked it up and found she didn’t need a permit or a license to buy a gun. She needed to submit to a background check, not have a criminal record, needed to have lived in the state of Montana for at least six months, have a valid ID, and be at least eighteen years old. Before going to dinner, they stopped by the local gun shop to inquire about getting one. She would keep it either at home or in her truck. The woman walked her through the process of getting a gun after asking her why she was interested in getting one.

“I live at the foot of the mountains and I love to go hiking during the summer, so I want something small to protect me from wild animals.”

She agreed that was a very good reason to get one. The guys helped her with the paperwork. Could they be witnesses for her? Were they related to her or her employers? No, then they could. She wrote down their names. Did they change their last names when they got married? No, they didn’t. Okay, she wrote down Michael Shinoda and David Farrell. They had decided not to combine their last names due to privacy and to avoid complications. It was also expensive to change their legal documents.

Once she was finished, she handed the paperwork back to the woman. Did she on penalties of perjury, declare that everything on the document was correct to the best of her knowledge? Yes. Okay. She would process her paperwork. They were free to look around while she did that. Thank you. They were a little overwhelmed, so they started looking at the small guns.

They also had ammunition and holsters. A guy came over and asked how he could help. Elliot told him she was looking to get a small handgun to protect herself from wild animals while hiking. Has she ever used a gun or firearm? No. He made his recommendation and brought one out of the glass cabinet to let her try it. The gun didn’t have any ammunition, so she was fine to pull the trigger. She chose a sign and pulled the trigger. How did it feel? She could get used to it.

It was easy to handle. He also brought out a revolver. She liked the Glock better. After going through with her purchase, she put everything on the backseat floor, right next to where Phoenix was sitting. Mike jokingly asked if he was comfortable back there. I’m good! He laughed.

La sua voce cadde da un ramo come un'ombra più in alto del suo peso. - Roberto Sanesi, L’improvviso a Milano

Dal 2020, il Premio Roberto Sanesi, dedicato alla memoria del poeta, critico, artista e traduttore Roberto Sanesi (Milano, 1930/2001) promuove la poesia in musica sul territorio torinese e piemontese, dando l’opportunità a progetti poetico-musicali fino ai 35 anni di età provenienti da tutta Italia di vincere una produzione per il proprio album e di confrontarsi con una giuria di addetti ai lavori, tra cui il musicista e performer Federico Sanesi, lo scrittore Giovanni Cattabriga, parte del collettivo Wu Ming e la poetessa Barbara Giuliani.

Tra i vincitori delle edizioni passate, Elena Cappai Bonanni e SOFIA_ con il progetto Karoshi, Simone Biondo e Daniele Ravagnan con il progetto Danno Mentale, Simone Tencaioli con il progetto Somma Zero, Gaia Ginevra Giorgi e Riccardo Santalucia, con il progetto L’animale nella fossa. 

Oltre alle performance dei progetti finalisti scelti dalla giuria emerita, ogni anno il Premio Roberto Sanesi ospita lo spettacolo di un protagonista della spoken word music italiana: tra gli artisti che si sono esibiti nelle edizioni passate, Pierpaolo Capovilla (Il teatro degli orrori, I cattivi maestri) e Max Collini (Offlaga Disco Pax, Spartiti).

Per la quinta edizione, la finale si svolgerà il 21 settembre allo Spazio 211 di Torino (Via Cigna, 211) e ospiterà le performance di Federico Sanesi, Nuria Sala Grau e Barbara Giuliani. 

L’evento è organizzato e promosso dall’Associazione Culturale Neutopia di Torino, che dal 2016 redige la rivista «Neutopia Magazine», pubblicando racconti, poesie, recensioni e fumetti. Dal 2019 organizza, nel quartiere torinese Barriera di Milano, il festival di poesia di strada Poetrification, nato in collaborazione con il poeta e performer Ivan Fassio (Asti, 1979 - Torino, 2020).
