not sure if y'all are taking asks BUT if you guys are, will there be an IAMP/project canada community (as in, the tumblr feature) ? 👀

not a clue, I don't know enough about what is involved in creating/maintaining one and if it involves a time commitment, well, who knows.

I will try to figure out more about what goes into it before I say one way or another but at the moment it's not on my radar (very very busy with IRL commitments and deadlines atm so the most I've been able to do is check the tags once in a while and reblog what I see.)

Hi there from the wild west! I’m so glad that you enjoy this, or whatever is left of it.

In terms of our original ambition as a youtube project I’m sad to say the answer is no. I don’t think people realize how absolutely unwieldy projects like this are with a wide cast of characters, technical difficulties, a lack of a strong vision/core group of writers and artists, etc. The sad truth of the matter is it’s difficult to find the required number of people who are willing and able to stick through a project like that to the end and then do it all over again, and again, and again. It was still hard in 2009 for us in IAMP at what I feel was the fandom’s peak and I don’t have any interest in reviving the project in that form. On top of school and work and the pandemic, it could be as crushing as it could be liberating for some. Even here when I propose having little art and writing challenges I get little to no response, so I’m mostly content to just sit back and share the work you guys choose to share with me when you’re ready to do so.

However, I’m used to sitting in the centre of this network and saying hello to new fans of IAMP and whatever the heck we had going on here and I’m happy to continue reblogging your fanworks featuring ctcsherry’s characters so we can find each other. I’m cool with talking about my own perspectives and avenues for stories to get those creative juices flowing and occasionally i even draw Serious Comics, I’m just not interested in holding anyone to a schedule or doing the heavy administrative labour involved with the old projects. I still occasionally post my own headcanons and stuff (and once in a blue moon i do VA stuff for my original roles lol) on my main blog @allbeendonebefore​ and you guys are welcome to hit me up any time to reminisce or send me your weird memes :)

Halloween is coming up very soon... Have you got anything planned?

Like I said in response to plans for Canada Day, I can barely think a day in advance let alone a month. Please assume for the duration of this pandemic that I have absolutely no plans for this blog other than reblogging what I see pop up in the tag and to answer general project related questions unless I say otherwise.

I mean this with affection, but running this project was exhausting enough while I was in school. With current events both globally and personally, it is still exhausting. I don't even have plans for Myself for Halloween other than to look at the moon.

What's Saskatchewan's actual canon human last name? I remember it used to be Williams in the old project, but nowadays I've seen Douglas or Carswell being used as his last name.

Hi there,

Saskatchewan never received a full canon name in the course of IAMP, only an affirmation that there would be a reference to Tommy or Douglas as his first or last name. All other names were fanon and Williams was just a placeholder.

During Project Canada, Owen was a popular fanon name that was accepted as his first name. While I don't know where Carswell came from and have never heard that used for him in either project, I do know that there was some debate in ProCan about Colwell (not sure where it came from either) vs. Douglas. I believe we did finally make his name Owen Douglas in the end, but I would have to dig up screencaps from the now defunct forum via the Wayback machine.

Personally, I preferred Douglas because we had already decided there would be a reference back in IAMP. My collaborators from Sask during ProCan also liked Gabriel as a first name, so I had typically thought of him as Gabriel Douglas.

I'm sorry if this is rather unhelpful; in short, Saskatchewan is one of the characters who never received an official name from Sherry and all names are fanon for now even though we had made a commitment to a Tommy Douglas reference in IAMP. You're welcome to choose the combination you like best for your own purposes.

Got any plans for Canada Day?

Had the worry that I slept through June reading this which is a totally Normal and Cool feeling to have.

Me personally? My buddy my pal, I can barely plan a day in advance let alone a month. There’s supposedly some virtual thing being put together but at this point I’m so tired of attending virtual events that I’ll probably just break out the old Murchies Canada Collection, have a cup of tea (maybe I’ll try the Rideau Hall blend this year), maybe listen to some music and contemplate the meaning of Canada for another year. 

For this blog? Nothing special. If people want to do Canada day themed things that’s cool. If you’d rather not, that’s also fine. I will keep an eye on things.

Ok so I have a question bout seams pronouns. Thought I’d ask this blog since you’re the first nb one I thought of. Sorry if this is a weird query. Anyway in-game Seam is referred to by no pronouns actually.. just name. But should I correct someone if they use pronouns in reference to Seam? Because in writing the only way to have gender-ambiguous character would be to use ‘he/she/they’ at all times when referring to said character or using the name or a title. (continues this ask)

Aw, I’m flattered you thought to go to me first! I admit I haven’t been as involved in Deltarune-centric discussions as some other blogs, but I’ve heard some talk about this topic.

@everyone-needs-a-hoopoe was one of the first people I saw noticing that Seam doesn’t use any pronouns in canon. As they point out in their post, when Seam is referred to in third person, no pronouns are used.

This post also discusses the Japanese version and points out that Seam uses a first-person pronoun (atashi / あたし (translation)) which has historically been associated with men and with women. While Toby is notorious for avoiding making concrete statements about his characters’ genders, taking this into account alongside the English version‘s avoidance of using any pronouns for Seam, I think that for the time being, it’s reasonable to assume that is an intentional choice on Toby’s part and could very well be taken as a sign of Seam being nonbinary. Especially when you consider that a lot of nonbinary people don’t use pronouns in English and other languages. (apologies for the wikipedia link, it’s the best I could find on short notice outside people’s personal blogs)

So to answer your question, while the only official source we currently have is chapter 1 of Deltarune, if you want to stay true to canon it would be nice to try to refer to Seam as has been shown so far (example on how to skip using pronouns for someone). Plus, it can act as a vector for practicing how to refer to real nonbinary people who don’t use pronouns, which I think is an excellent side-effect of popular content featuring diverse nonbinary characters! :)

As for correcting people… This is only my personal opinion on the subject, but I think that depends on you. I can’t tell you to go out and fight people over this, but I do see that you are doing rather well in asking a nonbinary person (albeit one who does use pronouns) about a nonbinary character and considering how you can show the most respect to nonbinary people. So while I can’t tell you what to do, I think we could always use more people like you with open minds and open ears, and if you want to you can feel free to direct any friends you have who are curious about this subject to relevant discussion, and help nonbinary voices reach them! ^^

Yo! Mod Avery and it's way past my bedtime and I wanna respond cuz I'm on mobile but we HAVE seen an instance where "you" and"frisk" are seperate, Flowey talking to the player at the end of pacifist. Its all in the POV of the situation, Chara talking to the player and Flowey doing the same happens when you can't see the heart or Frisk on screen

Oh, yes, of course! Sorry I failed to mention that instance, I remembered it, however…

There are, of course, many instances where the word “you” is used! The reason I didn’t mention Flowey’s speech is because I was focusing on when the narration, that is to say, Chara as the very probably narrator, uses the word. And in the case of Flowey’s speech…

“Chara.”

It does seem he is talking to Chara, if he refers to them by name. Toby could have very well left that part out, ended the speech on “See you later…”, but he didn’t. I think that means something.

I can see the connection between characters talking in “the void”, where Frisk isn’t visible, but there are other such situations where we know Frisk is present!

Sorry I derailed your post, I do agree with the points focusing on Chara! I just thought that there wasn’t enough evidence to account “the Player” into the theory, when there were simpler answers in the game already! You are, of course, entitled to your headcanons, and I love seeing different interpretations of the game! However, I did see your post as aiming for a slightly stronger interpretation of canon, so I felt “the Player” as a theory was slightly unnecessary to it, as it could have worked well without opening that can of worms. ^^;;

I don’t know, I hope my arguments hold water, I don’t like to stretch it too far. I don’t aim to change your mind, just to have a friendly discussion and try to come closer to a possible canon!

Sadly with the Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine movie being Logan means that we have seen the last of one of the greatest Canadian superheroes. Now, we have to wait to see if the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight is turned into a movie. It seems that they at least partially under Marvel Studios, as there have been easter eggs (background stuff or otherwise) that has hinted at them. Would be nice to see my home country has it's own superhero protectors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Another fun Canadian fact: Montreal has something to be proud of in terms of video games. Ubisoft Montreal is located in Montreal, Quebec. It has made some pretty big games like Far Cry, a couple of Tom Clancy games (R.I.P. Tom Clancy), Prince Of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs and their most recent game For Honor. Of course, Ubisoft Montreal has to answer to the main Ubisoft HQ in ... France.

Also an honourable mention: BioWare is based here in Edmonton :)

So... Do you guys need extra help on future episodes? If so, any specific area you need more people in? I'm just asking because you guys haven't uploaded anything on your channel in almost a year and a half now.

Ah, you’ve noticed! Glad someone is worried on our behalf.

It’s a complicated answer. There’s a certain irony that I’ve officially stepped down from the project (or will, once I’ve finished my final episode which should air in time for Canada’s 150th!) and yet I still seem to be hanging around answering all the questions... my co-admins and mods are all very busy individuals and we’ve come together out of our own passions and limited amount of spare time to try and get this project off the ground. As I’ve admitted before, a lot of this stagnation is the reason why I have left the project and I’m a little worried about its future after I do take my official leave.

Part of the answer is that we are severely lacking in direction- that organic core of writers we had in the IAMP, a clear outline of purpose and guidelines and canons that is accessible (something I’ve done my best to help along, I’ve always been overly invested in creating these guidelines and characterizations as I’ve been working on with the timelines)... it’s very difficult for us to get finished scripts, and once we do it’s very difficult to get enough artists coordinated or sometimes even interested in the work. Voice acting is in comparison the easiest job, but even there people do drop off the face of the planet and can be difficult to track down in time. (and i mean the usual stuff: school! work! travel! illness! we’re all human beings!) There are a lot of places where the gears are getting stuck, but in my opinion personally I would say it’s just we don’t have the same passionate fountain of ideas and enthusiasm there was for IAMP, and there isn’t the same discipline or interest there was in the earlier days of the IAMP. It’s like there are a lot of people watching from the sidelines but too shy to lend a hand or just don’t seem interested at all... 

In any case: if for whatever reason you want to read my farewell and reasons for leaving and what’s happening in my world it is here.

If on the other hand you are interested in speeding along production of the episode I’m currently throwing my heart and soul into (and i am very lucky to have such dedicated and fabulous people working on it with me so far!) I’m afraid there currently isn’t much to do but watch the pcdominiondayep tag and (at the risk of jinxing myself) see if there is any task that pops up that needs a new person or contribute to the fan art I’m collecting for the end credits. I’ve got all of the voices and most of the art, and I’m assured what remains is being worked on. If I hear nothing by mid-may I’m going to get a little antsy- the deadline for art is currently May 31st (which I have extended Several times over the last year). The deadline for fan art is mid-June-ish and will become more precise once I have the mental space to think about it further.

Fun Canadian fact: Stargate SG-1 was filmed in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. But, do to the fact that the show didn't have a big movie budget like the movie did, any alien locations were the nearest woods. Turns out there are so many alien worlds that look like Canadian forests and woodlands.

given the diversity of our landscapes and the fact that calgary is apparently a site for a future star wars movie, no surprise here :D
