new pixelart job

halfway through my 4th week now and its going good i think. boss is very kind and very skilled, not much more i can ask for really.

standard of the art in the game is extremely high and at first i felt super intimidated but now i'm just kinda trusting them to trust me to do the job.

project is cool too, will be impressive in the portfolio. thats my update, sorry for not posting new art! im really trying to do a healthy amount of art and not get burned out cos job is so important !! drawing for full time hours is honestly so tiring on the eyes.. im still alive im just being Healthy : )

Two little PMD Mudkip and Pikachu redraws I did to try to understand why I like the pixelart of this game (and these two portraits in particular) so so much. I added my own touch too, like that light outline under the lineart and polka dots here and there

It's still hard to describe why these are so nice, but at least something I realized that I love about the Pikachu one is how the mouth looks more like ":]" rather than ":3". Sadly the official illustration of this portrait has the 2nd mouth, so I tried to reflect my own vision

These were tough, but at least think I did a better job with Pikachu after practicing with Mudkip... It'd be nice to give these another try someday, I've got the feeling I could get even closer to the vibe the pixelart gives off!!

Btw these two are my Explorers of Sky team and my all time favourites, I love them so much... I got Pikachu, and Mudkip's called Parpy :] (random name I came up with as a kid)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

The original plan was to draw some Undertale characters in a particular style . But I realized Christmas is a few days away and things escalated quickly. :D

Also got to try out Aseprite's tilemap layer mode for the brick pattern.

Characters were restricted to 16x16 pixels and 3 colors: black and light peach, plus one of: red/orange/green/blue.

Backgrounds were restricted to max 4 colors in every 8x8 pixel square.

I love how Asriel turned out 🥲. And I literally can't look at that Sans without smiling. 🤣

It's an extremely simple style so it seemed like a good one to try first.

I have ideas for a first YouTube video. I won't be one of those pixelart tutorial channels; I think alot of people do a way better job of that than me. I want it to be more personal, video/animation-essay esque Maybe I'll start the scripting and voice acting this week, 'maybe'

/ Summary: It's the Blue Channel on Earth! This four panel lil comic depicts The OGs of the Blue Channel plus Precipice (Brnine, Cori, and Leap) as they take a trip to Earth, home to the some of the absolute oldest inhabited sites of the Galaxy! They're here for a crucial mission but there's a beach and some downtime, sooo, you know. We can hang for little while Levi and his boys are cooking up dinner, right?

This was a hell of a ton of fun to make. It was also a really exciting challenge to make this as a pinch hit because I got to really push my capabilities and learn a lot about how I draw things.

So first off boy howdy it is always fun drawing the blue channel crew and the blue channel. I reprised the blue channel I did in pixelArt Maker last year. Love shape of that thing. Always have, still do. I also got to show off Blue Channel's all-purpose sails in action in panel 2 where they deploy while anchored ashore to recharge in the light of the Sag A* Dyson. As the Blue channel goes stealth mode, you can see the city reflected in the sail. I picked Cambridge, Massachusetts lol. I flooded Boston and Roslindale for this one, lol. Maybe Rhode Island too. Sorry. lol

Lets talk about the fits. Partway through, I realized this was SUCH a beach series moment so went for Hawaiian shirt Brnine cause I thought it was funny, Wu-Tang shirt Cori because I thought it would be funny for Cori to have multiple band t-shirts, and Soviet Treasure Island Captain Livesey Leap because I thought it was fucking hilarious to imagine leap having multiple treasure island fits. And at the mall, I made some Auntie Anne's looking pretzel bullshit except I called it Auntie Anarchy's. I also thought it was funny to have Lush, Spencers, and Gamestop "survive" this far into the future, (plus Hot Topic, if you can see its VERY overgrown)... In all, Leap hoped it would be cooler, but Every store on Earth is dying all the time...

Emergency commissions! I lost my job and my daughter needs medicine.

Emergency comissions: I will sketch anything for any amount. Yes, ANYTHING for ANY AMOUNT (minimum of 1$), you will receive a photo of the sketch.

What's the catch? That I'm not really good at drawing, so don't expect to see anything too grandiose or complex, just simple and somewhat ugly sketches/pixelart.

Why am I doing commissions instead of something else then? Because I'm desperate and I don't see any other option for getting immediate money that me and my family desperately need.

I lost my job a while ago, I had some savings but they are running dry, I have a wife and a daughter, I need to have money to mantain my family, because of that I opened donations on a site, but they never came, I made an account here to ask for donations, but didn't try because I thought it would never work, owever, yesterday something happened, we went to the doctor and discovered my 2-month-old daughter has a skin condition and I will need to buy special creams and apply them 7 times a day, I don't have the money for this, and it has been what pushed me into actually making this post.

Since large works are quite time-consuming, plus I have a day job, I plan to post WIPs twice a week so the page doesn't go blank for too long ^^ I always start my work with an outline. This makes it easier to embroider large areas without having to look at the pixelart every two seconds, and if I make a mistake, there is much less to correct.

my passion to draw is a blessing and a curse man

like i am super duper motivated after doing so many ref sheets but it causes me to feel robotic in a sense. i rarely get “traditional” artblock. sure i will have breaks but thats normal, and when i do actually get artblock it lasts for a short time.

im not sure how im gonna do on artfight this year but i think im gonna beat my 25 attack record lol

side note: i would love to do paid commissions in the future, but i don’t think art will ever be my main job lol. but i think it can be a good side hustle :3 my parents tell me i could be working for disney or something but uhhh i rather draw ppl’s personal sparkledogs 😭- also also animation doesn’t equal my art skill i can do basic pixelart gifs at most lol
