The Muppets Mayhem is absolutely amazing. In my opinion, speaking as a long time Muppet fan, this is some of the best Muppet content we’ve gotten since 2011 or 2014.
So I wanted to run down my favorite moments in the series episode 1.
Tumblr media
#1- the concert scene right off the bat, the full body shot of the Mayhem! How awesome!
#2- Animal continuously saying Nora, Lilly Singh’s character’s name. As far as I can tell this is a running gag through out the entire series, I’m only on Episode 8.
#3- This moment with Dr. Teeth in the hot tub spontaneously producing Mai Tais out of thin air.
#4- A new rendition of Can You Picture That!! Switching up the lyric delivery, a new rendition of a classic.
#5- the actual cliffhanger the episode! Apparently in the world of the Muppets, the Mayhem get into cliffhangers all the time.🤷‍♀️
#6- these little post credit gags with Zoot taking a picture is kinda funny. I just find it really endearing.
Also side note, shout out to Moog! He’s my favorite of the new characters, he’s the bands #1 groupie/mega fan he’s just awesome.

Matt Vogel has been performing Kermit since 2017 after Steve Whitmire sadly got fired by Disney. So, bring back Whitmire or even better recast Kermit and hire Peter Linz who’s more like Jim (Henson’s legacy) and Steve (Whitmire’s support and legacy). Matt’s Kermit is not as nostalgic as Henson or Whitmire’s but he did a effective job for keeping Kermit’s voice and personality alive and true to his character but I think Peter should do Kermit, he be perfect. If Peter do Ernie he should do Kermit too, he should do both roles while Matt Vogel does a excellent job for doing roles of Big Bird, Count von Count, and other muppet characters.

Welcome to Dorley Hall by Alyson Greaves is out now!
“a story so intimate and psyche-gripping I had to remind myself to breathe” TORREY PETERS
“this wildly original novel is a sly, subversive satire of toxic masculinity wrapped around the heartfelt story of a trans woman fighting to find genuine gender expression” LAYNE FARGO
“a morally complex and deeply humane novel that uses society’s biggest fears about gender to explore fundamental questions about how it affects us all.” RAE STOEVE

Remembering OldIzNew... and Gloria Dawn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gloria Dawn is a classic men's magazine model that was active in the early sixties. She began posing in early 1962 working with many of the top photographers of the day like Peter Gowland, Ron Vogel, Elmer Batters and Keith Bernard. After a busy couple of years she retired from modeling at the end of 1963 and enrolled in college in 1965, getting her PhD from McDill in 1971.
Gloria worked with OldIzNew to get the colorization of her photos right. The first pic above is by Elmer Batters.
Gloria has her own site at https://gloriadawn.wordpress.com/ providing her own photos and recounting her days as a model. Unfortunately, while the site is still up, updates stopped in January of 2020.

Just watched "Rope of Sand," and I got a new favorite Peter Lorre character.
Tumblr media
First off: Boo Berry is clearly based on Toady.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boo's outfit is allegedly modeled after Toady's. But it seems like more than just the outfit to me.
Toady repeatedly appears out of nowhere, floating in from around a pillar or just abruptly appearing right there next to the other characters, like a ghostly marshmallow, and then vanishes as quickly as he came. His white suit shines against his dark surroundings. I am convinced that this character specifically inspired someone to make a Peter Lorre ghost.
His body shape is also the same as Boo's here. And on that note, I love how the movie works with the weight gain that was outside of Lorre's control to find new ways for him to be otherworldly. He probably couldn't slink between other characters and slither agilely through doors like he had in "Casablanca;" so instead, he rolls around from behind a pillar, or just suddenly appears next to someone, mooching of their cigarette match. He is an ethereal little cloud.
Tumblr media
Second, Toady is totally Ugarte.
Tumblr media
He is the exact same character, except for a chill wisdom that could come from surviving a rough life, and a traumatic capture.
We only have Strasser and Renault's word that Ugarte is dead, they wouldn't kill him before extracting the location of the visas from him, and they'd have every reason to lie to Laszlo about his death. How Ugarte escaped Casablanca and made it to a better life in South Africa is a story I want to hear. And knowing "Toady," one he'd love to tell.
Tumblr media
I can't as ready explain why Martingale and Vogel look and sound identical to Renault and Laszlo, but there are various explanations. Could be relatives, or just a coincidences. Or Martingale could be Renault living under an new identity after he defected; the idea of him and Ugarte now being close friends is a cute one. Vogel obviously isn't Laszlo, but maybe Laszlo had some relatives who weren't as noble as him.
Tumblr media
Ugarte becoming Toady is just...exactly what I need to patch the pain of his departure in "Casablanca." He's like a timid, defensive stray cat, feeding off scraps he can manipulate out of those around him, until the powers that be decide to chase him down and haul him off to the pound; then miraculously, years later, he's a chill, plump house cat, catching treats in the air.

SPOILER WARNING FOR THE MUPPETS MAYHEM!!!!!
Part 2 of my the Muppets Mayhem favorite moments rundown. Episode 2
#1- I love these little cold opens with the band in the van they’re great
#2- Pics 1-5 are all of the cold open it revolves around Animal presenting Nora, Lilly Singh’s character, with gifts of affection because, as established in episode 1, he’s obsessed with her. Every weird gift Animal gives her gets Nora more agitated and it’s just hilarious to me. Honestly Animal is my favorite part of this series. Second is Zoot.
#3- The gifts of affection gag from the cold open culminates in pic #6, Animal gifting Nora an actual goat. His name is Darren.
#4- So another gag through out this episode is that every time Nora lies Janice sneezes. At the party the Mayhem throws at the house they’re staying at, the same party where Animal gives her Darren, Nora tells so many lies that Janice literally passes out, she legit gets hospitalized because she’s, and I quote, a hippy lie detector.
#5- the episode ends with a very sweet Janice led rendition of True Colors and the whole house is lit with lava lamps it’s beautiful.
