Happy Independence Day!
Tumblr media
This is me holding the Philippine flag and wearing an ensemble called baro't saya (literally blouse and skirt) based on items I actually own. The background is a photograph I took of a beach in Caramoan, off the coast of the Bicol peninsula.
Tumblr media
On June 12, 1898, the Philippine national flag was revealed for the first time and accompanied by the melody of what would become the national anthem.

Mackenzie Arnold x reader
-> Reader and Macca's daughter watch her win 8-0, even if it is way too early
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
Watching your wife play for her country would never bore you, not even when it was an 8 – 0 win and you barely get to see her on the screen. Your daughter, however, was bored. Isla had woken up bright and early as it was a Sunday.
While you would travel the world for Mackenzie and her games, pulling Isla out of school was difficult, so you stayed home for the Asian Olympic Qualifiers – watching from home as well as you could. Kick-off was at 07:10 in the morning for the two of you in the UK, but the small blonde in your lap was Macca's good luck charm, so a short phone call before was mandatory.
It was six in the morning when Isla started jumping on your bed. “Wake up! Wake up! Game time! Mo- Ahhh!” you had snatched her out of the air, cuddling her close to you. “Game time later baby, give your mommy some cuddles.” With all her might the brunette girl wrangled herself out of your hold, sitting herself down on your chest. “Call Mama?” With a defeated sigh you grabbed your phone from the bedside table, knowing that your daughter would not give in until she had talked to her mom. “Here baby, you call her.”
The five-year-old knew just enough about phones, to know where she could call your wife and put it on speaker. Today the young girl decides to go for a Facetime tough at six in the morning – how nice. Especially when you had barely gotten any sleep, worrying about your wife.
It rang a couple of times before Mackenzie picked up, being greeted by her daughter’s face, way too close to the camera. “Good morning Bubba! How’d ya sleep?” Excited noises left Isla’s lips as she saw her mom on a dark bus, she had pulled the curtains by her seat close, trying to concentrate. “Good Mama! You?”
“I slept well babe, where is mommy?” Your child threw the phone at you before she slipped under the blanket, joining you in the warmth of it. “Oh, now you wanna cuddle, hmm?” Mackenzie watched with a fond smile as her carbon copy cuddled into your chest, with you holding the phone now, being able to see everything.
“Hi, beautiful.” She would never get tired of how blushy you got, whenever she complimented you in such a vulnerable state – even after six years of marriage and a child. “Hi, baby. How are you?”
With Isla nearly falling asleep on you, Macca and you quietly talked until the bus arrived at the stadium “Isla? Baby? I have to go now. Mama loves you, have fun!” A tired wave at the camera was all that she got, blowing you a kiss as well.
After making coffee and cleaning up a little you pulled Isla to the couch, wrapping both of you in blankets and handing her a breakfast sandwich. “Is Mama going to play?” Just seconds later they showed the Tillies in the tunnel, Mackenzie in pink, a little girl holding her hand.
“Oi! That’s my Mama!” You could not help but burst with laughter, the little girl appalled to see someone else holding her mother’s hand. “That is her Mascot baby. You were one as well, do you remember?”
Isla had been a mascot plenty of times, for her mother, Sam, Steph, Caitlin, Alanna, and even Courtney when she had joined Leicester City.
After the two of you had marveled at the dress the singer of the Philippines national anthem was wearing, it was time for the Australian anthem. As fast as she could Isla was out of the blankets, standing with a hand on her heart, belting the anthem with the singer on the TV. Sneakily you took a video of it, immediately sending it to Mackenzie who was laughing next to Sam, behind the singer.
“Look there’s Auntie Lani! Oh and Stephy, And Cait!” The young girl could not help herself, stopping her singing and waving at her aunties instead.
The stadium was filled, and your eyes could not help but tear up a little, seeing your wife stand there, making her country and family proud in front of so many people. “Where’s Mama?” Isla was now back at your side as she tried to find her mother’s pink kit in the colorful mix. But Mackenzie was nowhere to be seen as the rest of the Matilda’s tried to take the team picture, looking for her as well. The commentator explained that she had gone to warm up in goal, forgetting the picture - but she sprinted back just in time.
Seconds before kick-off Isla sprinted off to her room, returning with bright blue hair ribbons and a hairbrush, wordlessly gesturing you to style her hair just like Raso’s. Once you were done you also sent a picture of that to your wife, knowing that she would show the girls everything that Isla did.
Caitlin’s first shot on goal was saved by the keeper, Isla next to you restless in her seat. And just a few minutes later the Philippines had a long shot at goal, your daughter jumping up and down. “Get up Mama!” Mackenzie had fallen on her way to save the ball, but luckily it did not meet the back of the net.
It was Mary Fowler who put the Matilda’s in front with a gorgeous goal in the 14th minute. That first goal set off a series of goals and by the end of the first half, the Matilda’s were leading with five goals.
Isla however had dozed off as her excitement had lessened during the game. While she loved all of her aunties with all her heart, she was only watching for one person. Her Mama. But with such a lead and the Philippines’ not being a real threat Mackenzie was barely seen. Once or twice, she collected a loose ball, sending it back but otherwise, it was an entirely calm game for the goalkeeper. The second half brought three more goals and a hat trick for both Sam and Caitlin.
With nothing else to do in the day you decided, to let the young girl sleep until Macca called, which was three hours later. She was back in the Team hotel, freshly showered and alone in her room. “There she is! My beautiful wife!” As expected, you blushed, hiding your face in a blanket on the couch.
Isla apparently heard your phone ring, as she burst into the room, now fully awake. “Mama, you won!” Your wife could barely contain herself at the cute smile her daughter gave her – a smile that reminded her so much of you it was scary. “I did, Baby! Did you watch me?”
Isla’s hair was a mess, the ribbon had nearly fallen out by this point. She had always been an aggressive sleeper. “I did, but I got bored.” Mackenzie could not help but laugh at the carelessness in her daughter’s voice. “Little Miss was asleep before halftime, huh?”
“Huh! How mean of you! Such a mean Mommy didn’t even wake you up.” The small brunette that was jumping in her seat rolled her little eyes at her mother’s sarcasm, well accustomed to it by now.
“You fell when the ball got to you, Mama.” Mackenzie was flabbergasted “So you fall asleep but that’s what you see?” The two of them bantered back and forth in true mother-daughter fashion, but you couldn’t help but admire them.
And you were so happy to have them, so much fun in a home that you loved.

a Filipino MC in WHB has so much comedic potential
Teaching Satan swear words in Tagalog, telling Michael about his sun halo and it's resemblance to the PH flag, informing everyone in Tartaros about a cake called "mamon"
AHAHAHAHA YESSSSSSS PINOY PRIDE LET'S FCKIN GOOOOOO 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
im sorry if that's kinda cringe but as a filipino i am obliged to do so 😭😭
Teaching Satan how to cuss not only in Filipino but also in sooooo many dialects just take your pick 😭 or you can hit him with the "oh those aren't swear words! they're endearments! yes yes, 'hoy gago' deeefinitely means 'my darling'!" (it does not lmao)
Idk if you can even finish a sentence w Michael before he attempts murder 💀💀 seeing him might make the national anthem play in your head and do the whole "right hand on the left side of your chest" routine 😭 ano to flag ceremony????? HAHAHAHAHA shit ayan na ang watawat ng pilipinas 😭😭😭 w Michael idk if i wanna pay respect to his halo the flag or kneel and recite the lord's prayer
As for the mamon part, you get the cravings and just say "i wanna eat some mamon, i miss it"
for reference, mamon is a Philippine sponge cake that's usually eaten as an afternoon snack or snacks for kids in recess (everyone fckin loves mamon you can bribe w that shit)
Tumblr media
While the nobles would be confused and probably be convinced that they misheard you Mammon will find it hilarious
After you explain what it is he will send someone to Earth to get you the best mamon there is (homemade and expensive mamon is good but nothing beats Monde and Lemon Square 😩 fight me) ykw might as well ask for other delicacies while he's at it
Once he gets the gist of Filipino cuisine, he'll probably have a personal chef for you, which may or may not be good if MC can cook
A professional chef at your disposal is amazing and all but your recipes are from grandma and that's how you like it 😤 no i dont need measuring cups and spoons imma just eyeball that
A little off topic here but Filo!MC will feel right at home in Gehenna. The devils there are very resilient and are still able to laugh and joke even when shit hits the fan. But that doesn't mean they don't take the situation seriously. Their sense of community is ✨✨✨
Also, Filipino humor is so broken and unserious idek how to explain PH jokes to my non filo friends/moots. MC will just roll with the punches when it comes to Hell's logic imo 😭 "Oh we're doing this now, okay. Fuck it we ball." We're memeing everything. Nothing and no one is safe.

stolen glances ✮ l. walti
Tumblr media
pairing: lia walti x reader
summary: in which a certain midfielder couldn’t keep her eyes off of you. PWNT!reader
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ ⋆✦⋆ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
you kept your eyes ahead, the captain’s armband worn around your left bicep. you took a glance at the other team’s line up to see lia walti turning her head away. you shrugged it off, thinking she was looking at something else when in reality she was looking at you.
you gently swung the arm of your mascot, who turned to you and gave you a soft smile. then it was time to walk out, you heard the filipino fans cheer for you. it was their first time the team has made it into a major tournament.
you watched as the fans sang the national anthem with pride, so with your hand over your chest you sang as well. once both national anthems were sung, it was time for both teams to take a picture for the starting XI. you pulled your hoodie over not realizing two things, your shirt got ridden up and you certainly didn’t realize the certain midfielder had her eyes on your exposed stomach.
as you successfully pulled off the hoodie, she averted her gaze turning to her team and unzipped the trainer jacket handling it to her team’s kit staff. she quickly joined her team, presenting their team’s banner.
as you headed over to your team, taking a spot in the middle of the back row. hali, your fellow co-captain, gave you a nudge before facing the camera. you presented the banner with a small smile, as the picture was taken.
“jusko, kinakabahan ako. [oh my god, i’m nervous.]” you said, as hali laughed and shook her head pushing you to the area where you had to switch banners.
you faced lia as she gave you a small smile, noticing your interaction earlier. you returned it, as you switched banners. then shook hands with the lineswomans, and the ref before heading back to your team for the huddle.
“remember, no matter what the result is we still have two games to change it:” hali said, before you went to your designated spots. you were up front with your fellow striker, sarina bolden.
then the kick off began, in the first half no one was able to score. until a penalty was awarded to switzerland, bachman one of their midfielder’s was the one assigned to take the penalty.
you watched olivia as she moved left and right behind the goal line. and as she ran, she swiftly shoots it, aiming it at the back of the next at the left post. the score being 1-0, the ref blew the whistle signaling the end of the first half.
you headed to the tunnel besides olivia who looked a bit crest-fallen.
“you did well, liv. it’s not easy to save a penalty, don’t blame yourself alright.” you said, as lia watched from the back. a small smile made its way onto her face, as she found you a bit sweet.
“what if we lose?” liv asked
“then we lose, liv, we win as a team and we lose as a team. football is a team sport, i have faith in my team.” you gave your goal keeper a soft smile, before heading into the locker room to receive more tactics from your coach, alen.
you had a water bottle in your hand, taking a few sips from time to time. then everything was a blur, in the 50th minute you received a cross from hali, and went for a header, you watched as it touched the back of the net, making you equalize with switzerland.
you ran to the section of the filipino fans, doing your signature celebration as they screamed. sarina jumping on your back, as you gently wrapped your arms around her legs so she doesn’t fall. sara and angie gently shaking you, which made you laugh.
lia watched as you celebrated the goal, it was philippine’s first goal of the tournament. you had the biggest smile, as she adored it.
but it was over as soon as piubel, swiss’s #17 scored their second goal. you lifted your shirt wiping the sweat of your face, as you turned to your team who looked a bit exhausted, why wouldn’t they be? the amount of shots on target were blocked and saved.
you analyzed the scene, and quickly made a plan. in the 87th minute, flanigan made a cross, delivering it to sarina who went for a header but a swiss defender quickly blocked it, yet it wasn’t enough to fully clear it. barker tapped the ball in, making it hit the back of the net.
you watched as she ran, the defenders chasing afterwards. you simply watched as they celebrated, a small smile making its way to your face.
“idol, pa-picture.” you yelled, catching the attention of sara who snickered at your silliness. you caught the eyes of lia, giving her one of your eyes smiles. but as soon as the game went into extra time, it took three minutes in before lia scored a goal earning making it 3-2, the game had ended as the whistle blew.
you sat on the ground catching your breath, as lia sat beside you.
“you played well.” lia said, as you gave her a small smile.
“you did as well.” you said, as hali called your name making you look at her. she tossed you a bottle of water, or gatorade before she went to the rest of the team.
“want to swap shirts?” lia asked, as you shrugged and gave her a nod. you watched when she played at arsenal. she tugged off her shirt, handing it to you while you took of yours.
“and once everything is over, want to go on a date?” lia asked, as you felt a bit flushed.
“why not, it seems like we will be teammates after all.” you said, as lia furrowed her eyebrows. you laughed at her confused look.

A lot of those who insist that Filipinos are Pacific Islander instead of (or, in addition to) Asian often rely on loose interpretations of the term Pacific Islander and the fact that the Philippines was used as a stepping stone in the Austronesian expansion to the east. What they ignore or may not know is that (1) the superficial similarities between Pacific Islanders and Filipinos are not unique to Pacific Islanders and Filipinos but with Austronesian-speaking peoples in general, including Austronesian-speaking Southeast Asians and (2) we Filipinos simply did not have as regular and as vigorous a contact with the Pacific Islands - if any - compared to the Asian continent. We still don’t.
Think about it: the earliest known trade network in the Philippines included what is now Taiwan and Southeast Asia, i.e., the Philippine jade culture which dates as far back as 2000 BC and lasted for 3,000 years. Nephrite jade from Taiwan was manufactured in the Philippines and distributed elsewhere in the nearby region. After that were the Sa Huỳnh-Kalanay Interaction Sphere from 500 BC through AD 100 and of course the so-called Maritime Silk Road during historical times. What followed was then the very familiar colonial era of Iberian, Dutch, and British presence in Asia.
The earliest Filipino artifact with a given calendar date is the Laguna Copperplate Inscription which was written in the year AD 900 using a Brahmic script in a combination of Sanskrit, Old Malay, Old Tagalog and/or Javanese. Upon the arrival of Magellan six hundred years later in 1521, it was a man titled rajah who greeted him in Cebu. Half a century later, the aged grandson of the sultan of Brunei was ruling Manila. To this day, among the lesser Hispanicized and Americanized ethnic groups across the Philippines, the Ivatan of Batanes speak a family of languages shared with the Tao of Orchid Island, Taiwan and the people of Bangsamoro have more in common with Bruneians, Indonesians, and Malaysians than they do with the Māori, Kanaka Maoli, or Fijians. Indigenous Borneans are closely related to Filipinos.
As for myself, I was raised in Davao where you’ll find Cebuano, Ilonggo, Kagan, Maguindanaon, Maranao, Mansaka, Mandaya, Manobo, Bagobo, Chinese Hoklo, Japanese, and Indian people live; no one local I’ve ever met has identified as Pacific Islander and there was never a question as to whether I was Asian or not because I was surrounded by fellow Asians. It’s certainly hard to deny it when your country of origin is one of the founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, attempted to make a Malaysian-Filipino-Indonesian confederation happen, and contains the title “Pearl of the Orient” as a lyric in the national anthem.
Does this look like an archipelago that kept close touch with polities and cultures across the Pacific Ocean for thousands of years? Does this look like a society that is more Pacific Islander than Asian?

Jojooo!!! For Miruku my beloved:
What plot points would change due to the inclusion of your character in canon?
What headcanons/theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character?
Are there any tropes fandom would put upon your character, for better or for worse?
Be honest. What song is playing over an AMV/tiktok of scenes between your character and their love interest?
What is the wildest crackship you can imagine for your character, whether in-universe or in crossover?
Five questions jhsvhs I tried to hold back whew👍✨
Tumblr media
█     𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐀 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐒 : 𝑰𝒇 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑶𝑪 𝑾𝒂𝒔 𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏.  ⸻   ( ⚝ ) ╰┈┈➤    I will also try to hold back and not present you with some 7 paragraph long word vomit. ( I can't make any promises )
Tumblr media
───  What plot points would change due to the inclusion of your character in canon? ( inclusion ? more like, intrusion ! answered here ! )
───  What headcanons ╱  theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character?
Amano's stories are often littered with ' plot holes ' & 'unexplained power system ' , I imagine there would be a discussion and framing of Miruku's abilities, however most headcanons and theories regarding this will vary from person to person, with no mention of the fact that he is a ' True earthling ' ( as this is not a popular topic in the fandom even to this day. ) , as previously mentioned, there will also be a plethora of widely adopted headcanon regarding Miruku's gender identity, Amano tends to leave out these parts of the character building rather ambiguous ( if not, she's likely being offensive. ex. Lussuria. ) thus this will become a free for all.
BONUS ! I asked Nimo what she thinks would be a hc / theories she think Miruku would have & her own personal headcanon for him !
We talked about this a bit before…about fandom's gender identity take on Miruku…I unfortunately think that'd be a definite thing. (Sad) others I can see ppl coming up with "Miruku comes from a rich household" due to Mimi's house in Namimori! I could see ppl believing his parents in the Philippines are rich! But me personally…thinking on the info on Tumblr + how Amano may present it… " Miruku is a very curious soul, quirky even. He likes to try new things and love trying out limited edition items and treats! If there is a limited edition item Miruku WILL get it."
───  Are there any tropes fandom would put upon your character, for better or for worse?
For worst ? BORN YESTERDAY character trope might end up attached to Miruku due to how . . . lacking he is, there's still many things he doesn't understand and I'm afraid this could be a potential hyperfocus. For Better ? I can't think of anything! As much as I love tropes, it tends to boil down characters into a singular flat character :')
───  Be honest. What song is playing over an AMV╱ tiktok of scenes between your character and their love interest?
↳ " I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips " Is likely the national Miruku x Momina anthem, surely they're not just friends! ( they are platonic soulmates but okay . . . )
↳ " immortal she, return to me " a lot of visualizing every day miruku plus how he ends up being an antagonist. & maybe I'm just being hopeful , but likely very edgy edits " over night making the world my own. "
↳ now maybe if there's a Yamamoto x Miruku ship, " ikaw at ikaw" will be used. & for Dino x Miruku . . . . " I'm starving, darling. "
───  What is the wildest crackship you can imagine for your character, whether in-universe or in crossover? "
MIRUKU X READER & MIRUKU X Y/N , is the ONLY crossover we need!

In the early hours of March 26, the MV Dali, a 985-foot cargo ship weighing in whole over 91,000 tons, smashed into a supporting pier of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland.
The ship was built in South Korea, and its owners and managers were Singaporean. The crew and officers were from India and Sri Lanka. The six men who were working on the bridge and died in its collapse were from Central America. Indeed, the only Americans involved in the disaster were the harbor pilot, frustrated commuters, the soon-to-be-bilked taxpayers, and the uneasy shade of the father of the national anthem.
This is not atypical. The world’s largest shipping registries by tonnage are Panama, Liberia, and the Marshall Islands—“flags of convenience” for international concerns. Yet some nations still maintain top-10 registries. China flags over 8,000 vessels; Hong Kong over 5,000. The top three ship-owning nations, again by tonnage, are Greece, China, and Japan. By the number of sailors, the top countries are the Philippines, Indonesia, China, India, and Russia. By the tonnage of ships produced, China, Japan, and South Korea.
It has been claimed that America is “the indispensable nation”; be that as it may, it is quite simply no longer a maritime power. In 1970, there were over 800 U.S.-flagged ships, which accounted for 15 percent of global shipping. Today, despite more tonnage being moved across the oceans than ever before, there are about 180, accounting for about a half a percent of global shipping. The American registry is 21st; the fleet of American-owned ships comes in at 11th.

"The one where I decided to play Victor Hugo"
Y'know, I truly wanted to see an adaptation of Les Misérables set in some Latin American country, and also in a more modern setting.
Yes, I know that some elements of the original novel could probably be lost due to the change in time period (and place), but at least there would be a HUGE chance of seeing little Euphrasie "Cosette" Fauchelevent wearing school clothes that looked like these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(In case you're curious, these pictures are from two Mexican soap operas, "Gotita de Amor" and "Carita de Àngel")
And don't even get me started on the First Communion dresses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I don't know for sure if this applies to all Latin American countries, but I know it was a common occurrence until some point – especially during the late 19th and 20th century)
And while we're on the subject, allow me to give you a little piece of history:
So, the school I attended as a child was originally designed to be a school for girls and young women only. A "single-gender school", if you will.
Here is a short excerpt from a local news report about the school:
"On July 21, 1903, eight Benedictine Sisters arrived in Olinda, Pernambuco [...] They were invited to help in the future mission in the Amazon region. As this mission took a long time to be carried out, the sisters found another field of apostolate: in the catechesis and education of youth."
From the beginning, the Benedictine Sisters have dedicated themselves to the education of young people and women above all else. Schools have been established in the places where they have settled. Thus, throughout their history, many types of educational institutions have emerged [...] including a College in Olinda and a Conservatory of Music in Manila. In the Philippines, the Sisters run 25 schools belonging to the Congregation, with approximately 30.000 students. In addition to these educational institutions, there are other educational institutions, such as: Household Schools, Dressmaking Courses, Schools for the Disabled, Nursing Schools and Bible Schools. In addition, courses of all kinds are offered to meet the specific needs of people."
YES, THE BENEDICTINE SISTERS ARE BACK EVERYONE
Normally, schools of this type, in this case, those that were "single-gender", were private – requiring a certain amount of money to be paid each month. But for students who came from poorer families, it was possible to get a scholarship.
I don't know much about this information, but apparently there were some rooms available within the school property, where students could stay overnight during the week. This was because e some of the students lived in places that were far from the city (in rural areas for example) and this made it difficult for them to have to travel every day to attend classes.
Since that was where the nuns lived, they had no problems regarding food, comfort or safety of the students either.
And, of course, no boys were allowed
The uniforms, as you will see in the images below, consisted in:
Long-sleeved white blouses. But there were also short-sleeved blouses for outdoor activities.
Long, dark blue pleated skirts with suspenders;
White socks;
Black shoes;
White gloves and a dark blue beret – which matched the tone of the skirts.

I had one of those by the way, but we didn't use it on a daily basis, only on special school occasions: like church, the school anniversary and marching band parades.
Unfortunately (or not), by the time I attended the school, many of the original traditions had been lost over time. The nuns were no longer responsible for teaching the classes – but they still lived on the school property, three of them more specifically. Both girls and boys could study at the school, and our curriculum was no longer the same.
Now, imagine my shock when I discovered that my aunt, her sisters and friends (who also attended this school) used to have French lessons. They even learned how to sing the French national anthem...
I was a little jealous of them, to be honest 😭

Does AMWA have a unique military salute or hand gesture? Something like from the attack on titan salute where they clenched their fists to their heart or like the Wakanda Forever crossing arms.
Or will you just retain the usual military hand salute?🫡
since im filipino, they're most likely gonna do the aot salute
just something i would like to see since my school does a similar thing whenever we have to pledge/stand at attention to the philippine flag when the national anthem plays
