B I O

Growing up without parents is something that no one should have to suffer through, but unfortunately for Theodore, he had no choice. When he was eight years old, his parents were taken from him too soon, due to a drunk driving accident. He himself was in the car along with them, but fortunately he wasn’t harmed in the collision apart from a few scrapes and bruises here and there. Despite being so young when he lost his parents, he remembers them with crystal clear accuracy. He was very close to his parents, especially his mother. He was what people would normally call a mama’s boy.

Unlike a lot of boys who cling to their fathers while growing up, Teddy found himself clinging to his mother instead. He formed a special bond with her that people couldn’t really understand and after a while stopped trying to understand. He spent a lot of time with her during the first six years of his life. She was an art school teacher, and she would bring him along with her to work, which was the jumping off point for his love of art. Everything he knows about art today stems from watching her teach her classes, and while he couldn’t really comprehend everything she was saying back then, he was exposed to it quite early, which made it easier for him to adjust to art and all its forms when he started to really study it.

When he was just a few years old, his parents had another baby. He was excited to have a younger sibling, one that he could take care of and have a strong bond with. His little sibling had a love for art as well, and that was something they both bonded over. Even though they were both very young, it was very obvious that the both of them wanted to be artists in some way, shape or form. Their mother surrounded them with art and they both took to it like fish to water. His younger sibling was incredibly close to him, and he loved the bond that the two of them shared. Despite the difference in their ages, they were practically best friends who did everything together.

When their parents passed away, the two of them were forced to separate from one another. They weren’t given a choice in the matter because they were so young. Almost immediately his sibling was adopted and he was placed in foster care, something that he hated with every fiber of his being. The foster family he lived with drove him absolutely crazy. They were diehard Catholics and always tried to enforce their views and religious values onto him, which he had no choice but to accept when he was growing up. As he grew older, the more they tried to force religion onto him, the more he rejected it. By the time he was twelve or thirteen years of age, he had already come to the conclusion that he would not follow through with any religion once he came of age. The idea of organized religion had already been tainted for him, and he no longer wanted anything to do with it anymore. Despite his conclusion that he wouldn’t affiliate himself with any religions anymore, his foster parents forced him to attend bible study, Sunday school and even made him participate in the church’s art classes for children. Although that was something he didn’t really mind in the slightest. Being a part of the church’s art class had somewhat revitalized the love he had for art when he was a little kid, and he found himself looking forward for church every Sunday, because that meant he got to do what he loved.

As soon as he turned eighteen, Teddy set off on his search for his younger sibling, wanting to find them and reconnect with them. His foster parents hadn’t allowed him to do so while he was growing up, but now that he was legal and officially out from under their thumb, he knew there was nothing they could do to stop him from looking for his lost sibling. His search for his kin led him to South Korea, where his parents grew up. Upon finding his sibling and reconnecting with them, he also fell in love with the country. It was the exact change of scenery that he needed and had given him a new incentive to continue on with his art. 

These days, Theodore works as a freelance artist and when he’s not making money doing commissions and projects for people here and there, he makes a living being a personal trainer. He hopes to someday kick off his career as a professional, full time artist, but until then, he’s happy having it as a side job and hobby.

bad influence: teddy, despite his appearance, is a lot sweeter and soft than he appears to be. this person is the one that talks him into tapping into his not so nice side. he's been taken advantage of for his kindness before, and this person is tired of seeing people use teddy like that.

tug-of-war: these two go back and forth. one minute they're going on outings and dates and are all cuddled up, then the next they're arguing and fussing. a hot and cold type of relationship that teddy can't seem to get out of. they care for each other, but whenever they try to be anything more than friends, it falls apart.

practically roommates ( multiple ): teddy has his own place and his own roommate, but these two are always hanging out at each other's places. teddy really enjoys their company and vice versa.

from a young age, anyone who knew rosalina garcia, knew she was destined to be a star. their personality shone bright from as early as five. the little tike running around in her ballet costumes, putting on concerts for her brothers and sisters and tias. her mexican roots were strong and she loved to sing her abuela’s favorite mariachi songs, putting her own twist on them and making her cry from living room performances time after time. life was good at first, her mother was young, vibrant, and beautiful. she taught rosa all she knew about being herself, about being kind, and most importantly how to love others through their ugliness. her father was good, or so she thought. sure, he worked a lot, but, she loved him, she was a daddy’s girl through and through. her father wasn’t the father of her eldest sister, and growing up, she witnessed him mistreat her a lot. this confused young rosalina. she couldn’t understand how the father she loved could be so cruel to her older sister. rosalina’s mom was often caught in the middle. she did her best to hide his abusive nature, but as rosalina got older, she witnessed more and more of who her father truly was.

it wasn’t always bad, sometimes he was normal, but most of the time, the house was chaotic, her mother was miserable and her light started to dim slowly over time. rosalina’s older sister was going through her own struggles and rosalina would often end the day in bed, crying and writing music as a way to release. she kept a journal to document her feelings, it was the only safe place she had. when rosalina was only eleven, the worst occurred. her mother had continued to decline, and soon she was so stressed that she started experiencing seizures, though the doctors could never pinpoint exactly what was causing them. rosalina quickly grew worried about her mother and sometimes her older sister would have to come and meet them in the middle of parking lots because suddenly her mother started feeling sick and couldn’t drive them home. it was all so traumatic for rosalina and on halloween night that year, her mother passed away, alone at home while her father was out having an affair with another woman he’d met through work friends. rosalina had seen her father texting this woman one time when he picked her up from dance class, she questioned him on who it was and he lied right to her face, she kept it to herself and never said anything about it again.

the night rosalina’s mother died was the night a piece of rosalina’s childhood died. she was eleven, but her life was about to get even more tragic. her older sister wasn’t allowed to stay with them anymore, her father was taking his grieving out on everyone and eventually he started to control and montor rosalina’s ever move. the freedom she once had when her mother was alive, was no longer allowed. she had to quit dance, she got her phone taken one time for two years, he moved them to the other side of the city so it would be hard for other family members of her mothers to visit and see the kind of mental abuse he was putting her through. then the verbal abuse started, the belittling, the whore comments if she wore anything that was remotely showing skin, and then the physical abuse when she he went through her phone and found out she had a girlfriend. she wasn’t allowed to date boys either. she wasn’t allowed to be a kid, she had to stay home and do chores or risk being punished for not doing them. for a while she kept it all inside, she didn’t want to get her dad in trouble but when she was sixteen, the abuse became way too much. she finally told her older sister who lived on her own now, and she immediately went through the courts and got custody of rosalina. this was a rebirth for rosa. they could finally breathe again. they could enjoy life, they could have the space to figure out who the hell they were.

rosalina’s girlfriend has stuck with her through all of this and is her rock and number one supporter. rosalina still lives with her older sister and the two have never been closer. rosa is exploring her twenties and discovering self love again. she still struggles with ptsd and sometimes has nightmares. through her trauma she discovered astrology and started studying it intensely day and night. now, she’s been studying astrology for five years and it’s taught her so much about herself and people. she’s a famous astrology tik toker and has a patreon where people can pay monthly to access her monthly collective readings. she also does personal astrology readings at paris’s shop the black cat. she makes cute little astrology videos on youtube and offers classes as well. ask her about the planets and she’ll love you forever.

your entire day had been a nightmare.

from participating in classes and working a part time job, you were worn out.

honestly, you felt quite sick.

you hadn’t noticed how much your body was aching until you had finally arrived home.

aiming for your bed, you wasted no time in unpacking before landing straight into your pillows.

the stress and anxiety the day gave you has now left you barely awake, small groans of pain leaving your mouth.

some higher power had given you the gift of sleep for no more than an hour before you were awoken by a phone call.

of course saeyoung would mess with you after he’d seen you on the cctvs walking home exhausted.

yet to your shock, it was yoosung.

you could’ve sworn he told you earlier that he had to study this hour.

quickly composing yourself the best you could, you answered to be greeted with a whined hi.

“hi yoosung” you responded, thinking you had masked your tired state well enough.

but you had always been a poor actor after all.

he paused, before asking “are you okay?”

in this state, you couldn’t be bothered to lie to him, getting into some kind of debate over your wellbeing.

“i’m just... exhausted. my entire body is aching” you admitted.

hearing a small sigh through the other end of the phone, you were about say your goodbyes for the night before he responded, “how come princess”.

his tone matched your upset one, yet with a hint of sympathy added on.

you sighed, responding “i’ve had an exhausting day, it’s taken a tole on me”.

he had to stop, thinking of the best ways to comfort you.

after a few seconds of no response, you continued “sorry yoosung, but i just want to rest right now”.

quickly, he snapped out of his thought process, not realizing the silence he had been giving you.

“that’s alright, please sleep well” he said, before hearing the sound of you hanging up the phone.

once you had come to your senses the following day, you noticed something was off.

french toast wasn’t something that spread in the air often in your apartment.

yet your suspicions were cut short as yoosung came around the corner, noticing your awakened state.

shocked, you began to sit up before being pushed back down, completely caught off guard.

“no work for you today lady, you just rest” he said, before running back out to the kitchen, bringing back a plate of french toast seconds later.

you couldn’t help but smile, yet a question popped up in your mind.

“wait, how am i going to eat this if i can’t sit up” you asked.

“easy, i’ll feed you”, problem solved.

hyun ryu / zen:

boarding the bus with zen, the first thing that caught your attention was the sheer compacity inside.

you two were only planning to take the bus 10 minutes to a new cafe that opened in town.

it was the perfect day to do so.

you and zen had off work, the weather was great, and it wasn’t predicted to be busy.

taking hold of the first railing you could find, keeping zen’s hand in your grip, you couldn’t help but to start getting overwhelmed.

there were so many people looking at you as you got on, and now you were stuck between a bunch of strangers looking you up and down with nothing else to do.

you felt your stomach start to turn, you knew this feeling well.

if you didn’t get off soon, you’d be sick and start crying with everything going on.

8 minutes in, you couldn’t take it anymore.

you had tried to get through by zoning out and thinking about other things, yet nothing was in your favour.

you were terrified, and now physically ill.

mentally preparing yourself, you pulled the string, your hand cutting between two heads of people you’d never seen before.

who knows if they were judging you?

that thought didn’t help a thing.

the bus came to a stop within the next few seconds, and you pulled zen’s hand tightly, practically pulling him off the bus.

“babe, we get off up there” he said, pointing north as the bus had taken off again.

you couldn’t handle a conversation with him right now, you needed to find a washroom.

taking notice of a camp-like washroom set up alongside the park a few steps away, you rushed off.

zen chased you in shock, attempting to grab a hold of your arm, to which you flicked him off of several times before reaching the area.

now he was stuck, not being able to go farther once you dashed into the ladies room.

he stood in a ball of confusion and worry.

you hadn’t acted like this before.

while inside the washroom, you locked yourself in the stall to the back, attempting to collect yourself.

once you came to the realization that your strategy wasn’t working, you just let it all out.

you felt like shit.

god, you had ruined the entire day with zen, embarrassed the two of you, and now you had made yourself physically sick.

you stayed in there for 15 minutes, simply balling your eyes out before deciding to go out and talk to him.

seeing you emerge from the washroom door, he took the best approach he imagined, pulling you into a tight hug as his eyes came across your redden face.

“i’m sorry” you muttered out, your face pressed against his chest.

quickly, he responds “it’s okay jagi, please tell me why you’re so upset”, comforting you with the tone of his voice, making you ease up a touch.

“i, there were so many people on the bus. i got sick, i was so anxious” you let out.

you knew how accepting your boyfriend was, which was why you weren’t shocked by the comforting words he spoke next.

“shhh, i get it, don’t cry”, pulling back a bit to clear the hair from your face.

he continued, saying “do you need anything? some medicine, drink?”

you shook your head, saying “no, i just need to calm myself down for a bit”.

“of course” he said, holding you until you said you were okay again not too long after.

jaehee kang:

“ugh” you let out, walking past jaehee with a throbbing pain in your head.

the cafe was making you unbelievably stressed, it was nothing like you’d ever experienced.

stress was a major downside to your cafes growing popularity, though you didn’t expect it.

little to your knowledge, jaehee heard ur groan, getting away from the counter for a spilt second.

“hm?” she said, before continuing “are you okay mc?”

“i just...” you paused, thinking of your next words.

you didn’t want to lie to her, but you didn’t want to make her worried on top of the already stressful situation.

“my head just hurts” you said, hoping to pass it off as a simple headache.

“are you alright? when did it start?” she asked, concern lacing her tone.

these pains were nothing new to you, but they got worse each and every time.

you had no energy to lie at this point, you were already done in by the day.

“the stress is getting to me, my head always aches when these things happen” you answered.

you could see her facial expression pause, as if she was deep in thought.

yet the expression changed within the minute as she responded “please go home, take the day off”.

you were blown away.

of course you didn’t want to leave jaehee alone, but you knew you couldn’t carry on like this for long.

you quickly argued “i can’t do that, you’ll be left with the stress alone”.

she gave a small smile, glancing at the clock, before responding “thank you for worrying, but i’ll be alright. there’s only an hour before closing and i can tell how bad this is effecting you”.

hence why with hesitation, you took her up on the offer.

you gathered your stuff up to leave, and went on autopilot, waking up the next day covered in warm blankets.

you couldn’t remember a thing after leaving, but you could feel how calm your body became with a bit of stress relief.

and you made sure to give jaehee your biggest thanks the next day.

jumin han:

you had started your new business over the summer.

and being the wife of c&r’s chariman-to-be, naturally people were intrigued.

many were incredibly supportive, although the occasional rumours surfaced from time to time.

crazy ideas you wouldn’t have been able to think of yourself.

suddenly you were the daughter of a president aboard, you and jumin weren’t actually married, and you only used jumin to fund and grow your business.

all completely foolish, never lasting more than a week.

however, this time around was different.

you had woken up to articles suggesting you were having an affair on your husband with your father in law, and that you had been using company profit for your own benefit.

how they came to these conclusions was beyond you, but you let it slide for now thinking it would only last a few days.

certainly nobody would believe this, there was no evidence brought forward and nothing you did had ever hinted towards these claims.

but that wasn’t the case this time.

one week went by and nothing changed.

two weeks went by and you noticed that the rumours had only increased and more was being added to the story.

now three weeks had passed, and things were only getting worse.

you had started getting emails about the rumours and sponsors had started pulling out to stay safe.

not only was it getting to you in a business sense, but your body had become ridden with stress and anxiety.

you woke up everyday in an upset mood, the first thing you noticed after coming to your senses was the back throughout your entire body.

though today it was focused in your abdomen.

this morning was no different from the previous few.

except jumin had stayed home from work for elizabeth the thirds yearly checkup.

he was the overreactive father to his cat daughter.

when he returned home with the news of elizabeths pristine health, he was met with your sleeping figure.

it was something out of the ordinary as you were usually awake at 6am.

yet it was 10am and he was standing beside your sleeping state.

remembering you had work, he shook you with ease to wake you up.

watching as you slowly opened your eyes, and within a snap you jumped up from the position you were lying in.

“what time is it?” you asked your husband frantically.

his eyes widen, slowly answered “it’s 10am, are you alright love?”

you wanted to cry.

you had woken up earlier at your usual time to an upset stomach, took some medication to ease your nerves, and laid down on your phone for a bit.

falling asleep wasn’t the plan.

“i didn’t mean to fall asleep, i need to-” you said, finding yourself in sobs midway through.

you couldn’t continue.

the tears fell uncontrollably, all the stress and worries coming out.

and jumin was at a loss for words.

yet he went to embrace you, calming you down through little words of endearment.

when you were finally calm enough to communicate, he asked “what’s going on?”

you let it all out, though you wanted to hide it from him earlier, you were desperate for things to subside at this point.

“there are all these rumours that have been going around for weeks, stuff about me getting with your father, using profit for myself, and using your entire family for exposure.”

you inhaled, being continuing “i thought they would end, but they keep going on and now it’s effecting my business. i just want it to stop”.

you stopped yourself from breaking down again, quickly composing yourself.

jumin paused, unsure of what to say.

hearing your sobs shattered his heart.

there were so many questions he needed answered, where would he even begin.

thinking for a bit, he asked “why didn’t you tell me earlier? it pains me to see you in tears”.

looking up to meet his eyes, you answered “i didn’t want you to worry”.

you knew it wasn’t an excuse he’d take seriously, but you were honest.

“your wellbeing comes before me, do not worry about my state”.

he had told you that since the day you became a couple.

adding onto that, he said “you’re staying home today. get some rest and i’ll take care of everything”.

you couldn’t argue, and part of you felt relieved getting it off your shoulders.

doing as he asked, you fell asleep again, napping like a baby.

you woke up again sometime around noon, immediately looking through your phone.

a new article caught your eye.

“Chairman Han denies all rumours involving MC and the upcoming business” it read.

you knew it wasn’t over yet, but you found comfort in the fact that it was finally thrown out of the water.

and within the next few days, you noticed your mood return to normalcy along with your body.

the stomach aches, headaches, and back pain disappeared.

you had learned your lesson, and didn’t hide your worries from then on.

saeyoung choi:

you dragged saeyoung out of the house for the night.

being the hard task that it was, you were understandably tired.

but you wouldn’t let that stop the night in front of you from being a success.

you had planned a special date to the movies in celebration of your birthday.

it was a movie you had wanted to see since it came out a year prior.

you were expecting to leave in a scared state of mind due to the movies horror nature.

what you weren’t expecting was the compacity of the movie theatre.

you wouldn’t be quick to admit it, but the sheer look of things frightened you.

it shouldn’t have been that hard to sit down and stare at a screen.

but all your attention was taken off of the movie, now directed at the people around you.

were they looking at you funny?

did you have something on your face?

were they judging you?

these questions wouldn’t leave your mind.

though you made multiple internal attempts to stop it, they just kept coming.

eventually it got too much, the nerves overwhelmed you, and you felt your stomach become physically ill.

you were gonna be sick, you thought.

turning to whisper to saeyoung, excusing yourself from the movie, you left to the washroom.

there were people in the ladies room as well, but they eventually left one by one.

you hung your head over the toilet seat, just waiting for your body to give in.

it was probably best to hide out in the stall for the remainder of the movie, you figured.

and that you tried to do, until saeyoung became suspicious and started looking for you 20 minutes later.

after searching the halls, the only reasonable conclusion left was that you were in the washroom.

he became worried that you were ill and needed help.

hence why he stood outside the door, yelling your name inside.

it caught you off guard, you weren’t ready to face him yet and have an excuse prepared.

though you didn’t have long to stay in your thoughts for long once he yelled your name out again.

leaving your safe area for the foreseeable future, you hesitantly went outside.

the red lining your eyes and your skin beginning to pale was the first thing that came to his attention as you met him outside.

“are you alright?” he asked, his voice full of fright.

“my stomach hurts” you answered, while not technically lying.

you didn’t want to come across as ruining the night by your own fear.

“i’m sorry” you let out, the guilt getting to you.

he hugged you, saying “don’t apologize, please, we’ll go home”.

he didn‘t know exactly why you became sick, but he knew better than to keep you in public while being so sick.

once you arrived home, he asked “did you catch something?” caressing your leg as you sat beside him in the parked car.

“umm” you thought for a second, “i think so”.

he looked you dead in the eye, a full minute passing by, before responding “you’re not a very good liar”.

you looked at him in confusion, trying to pass your lie off as reality.

“please, tell me the truth” he pleaded.

now you were hurting him, you thought.

your lies were too see-through to continue with this, hence why you fessed up.

“my anxiety got the best of me, there were too many people there, it made me sick” you confessed.

you felt the comfort of a hand on your shoulder within a second, feeling shitty for ending your date early.

“i understand” he said, continuing “we can have an even better night at home instead”.

you smiled, glad to see him okay with the current situation.

“of course, thank you” you said.

the rest of the night was full of sweets and cuddles, watching a fluffy drama on the tv.

you fell asleep on the couch together, awoken by saeran the next morning wanting to sit down within saeyoungs foot in his lap.

when luna pierre first told their mother they wanted to be an olympic gold medalist gymnast, their mother simply didn’t believe them. they’d always been adventurous, scraped up knees, dirt bikes, monster trucks, climbing trees, and digging for worms were among some of luna’s favorite activities as a young kid. but as much as they loved getting down and dirty and physical, they could also be gentle and sensitive, through and through. the perfect blend of both one would say, they had to have it both ways, and why not? there was a time to be rough and a time to be soft. something luna mastered perfectly. they loved to sing, dance, and paint their nails as much as they loved to run, go to the race track, and play in the mud. they were truly connected to their inner being, and they wanted to express every inch of their souls desires in this lifetime.

with a single mom as a parent, they couldn’t afford gymnastics classes straight out of their mom’s pockets. when they were seven, they had to audition to be evaluated for a scholarship. at first their skills weren’t sharp enough, they didn’t know much about the sport yet and could do the basics like a back walk over and cartwheels. they begged the directors at the gym they were attending to let them join the team via scholarship and because of luna’s dedication and passion, they agreed. everyone in the gym knew luna had potential, it was just a matter of getting them the proper training. gym became luna’s first love. they ate, slept, and breathed gymnastics and all it had to offer. quickly climbing levels and skill set, luna was set to make the national team at 17 and it was their biggest opportunity and shot at making it to the olympics.

luna was homeschooled to give them more time to practice and eventually it all paid off when they made the olympic team at nineteen. it was all so surreal. they really made it to the 2016 olympics and won the gold medal for balance beam. even though they made world history, luna was holding back a devastating secret. their gymnastics coach from the olympic team had sexually assaulted them during a one to one practice one night and they were too scared, in shock, and confused to talk about it to anyone. right after winning the gold medal, luna pressed charges on him and it started up a wave of other athletes coming forward against him, one by one more people standing behind luna as it all went public across the globe.

luna moved back to their hometown of nottinghill to get away from their old life as a busy gymnast, training 24/7 and living to die for the sport. they have enrolled into an art program at a university to feel like a normal person again and that’s where they met her current best friend and discovered their love and talent for art. they’re exploring life and finding ways to heal their inner child and all the things they didn’t get to do while sacrificing their time and energy to gymnastics. luna is a free spirit and will let the wind take them wherever it needs them to go, they enjoy the experience of life and still brushes up on their training every now and then. luna works for zola’s mom as an acro dance teacher at excaliber cheer and dance also.

A = Attractive (What do they find attractive about the other?)

first impressions have a big impact on tai. he’s mostly attracted to your eyes, where he believes sincerity and connection reside. a smile that reaches them will definitely win his attention.

beautiful eyes and smile is what catches his eye, but fun and spontaneity is what makes him stay. someone that isn’t afraid to scream laugh or how they look like when they do.

B = Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)

he wants a big family, at least three kids. of course he understands the responsibility of becoming a parent and that is part of why he wants to give his parents a lot of grandchildren.

he can picture himself throwing a ball with them on a lazy saturday or sunday afternoon, after a late lunch. participating on their lives by helping them with homework and making sure they’re learning the good values he was once taught.

C = Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)

he’s the big spoon in bear hug. full embrace with those massive arms, and it’s amazing to imagine he’ll pick you up from where you are “for a just minute” of cuddling, whether on the couch or bed.

you can find shelter on his chest while he rests his chin on the top of your head, caressing your arms and holding you close to his body.

of course, from time to time he feels safe in your arms, even if you look like a backpack while spooning him. he loves feeling your warmth and won’t let go of that privilege.

there’s always a smile after a deep breath and i think that’s my favorite part about his cuddling.

D = Dates (What are dates with them like?)

fun!

tai knows how to be romantic and amorous once the occasion calls for it, but his forte is definitely focusing on the fun part of a date. expect water parks, paintball, laser tag. anything that gets physical and you both laughing, chuckling and having the time of your life.

if a date is supposed to be quality time, then having innocent fun with his partner is definitely what moves him.

if you surprise him with such plans, you can actually make his face hurt from smiling.

there’s a moment a person realizes they’re in love and keep it to themselves, but for tai, he couldn’t hold it in any longer than a day. it happened the moment he realized you were just like him. all he needed to find was someone that understood size doesn’t matter, fun has to be a part of your relationshp and caring about your friends are one of the most important things.

when he realized he was in love, he almost bursted with the words. and even though he can be impulsive at times, he knew how this particular moment was important, so he planned and rehearsed it a little bit.

just enough to not stutter while telling you how he feels. but he couldn’t wait any longer, and wanted to see how happy you would be knowing there’s someone in love with you.

very! due to his size he can’t risk being too rough. he’s used to having a light touch ever since he found out how dangerous he can be if he’s not careful. you’ll notice it when he plays around by putting makeup on you.

he loves spending some light time doing that, and he’s the kind of gigantic guy that you catch yourself wondering how can someone be so big and so delicate, at the same time?

a very gentle touch when he grazes his thumb on the side of your face while kissing you, or when he’s stroking your arm during a cuddle.

H = Hands (How do they like to hold hands?)

fingers twined, always. tai thinks that gesture truly represents how entangled you are with each other, and it represents intimacy to him.

he also loves caressing your knuckles with his thumb, and sometimes brush his lips on the back of your hand.

he might even make a comment about how small yours is compared to his, and put his palm against yours, to measure.

I = Impression (What was their first impression?)

when he saw you walking in that tent, he already knew the damage was done way before. like he said once, your voice had a huge impact on him, and your personality and way of handling yourself were positive first, adorable second, sexy third.

he knew he had to take a shot and it paid off. “my instincts are never wrong. i knew it had to be you.”

and to himself, he thought “damn it, they’re even more beautiful, live. alright, be cool, tai. don’t goof around right away.”

mildly jealous. not trusting of others around you, especially when they make advances that would make you feel uncomfortable. but if a boy hits on you and your response is negative, he’s proud of the person he has next to him.

tai has eyes and he can see how energetic and vibrant you are. it’s natural for people to feel attracted to someone so interesting. he wouldn’t be with you if that wasn’t true.

other than that he has no reason to be jealous. the bond you have is the most stable thing he has and he wouldn’t doubt it. in fact he loves walking around with you, holding hands, so people around know you’re together. he’s proud of you.

he has a way of kissing you that makes the world fade into the background. it’s not only his lips or his tongue. it’s his arms snaking their way to your back, his hands gliding on your neck, hair and face. the heat that emanates from him whenever he suppresses a grunt. it’s in his touch when he’s deep in.

it was mutually started but on his end, he was stunned. he didn’t expect to see so many sparks fly, despite of being entirely enchanted by you. 

and when you pulled away from that first kiss, tai simply couldn’t manage how gobsmacked he was. he already felt a strong connection with you in that date, the conversation going so well.

but he was afraid to crush so hard on you if your kiss was that amazing. and it was. and he did.

he does.

tai is not afraid of letting you know how he feels, at all times. he has so much appreciation for you, he can’t hold back at all, and letting you know was one of the most nervous moments he’d ever had.

he’s the type to dive in without thinking too much, even if it means he might get hurt because of the impulsiveness.

he has no regards for preserving himself when it comes to love. taking a risk has always been part of his agenda, and you were worth it.

in the villa, sharing a bed together for the first time.

the waterfall was rushed and spontaneous, and you both had a lot of fun, but the feeling of having you protected by him, in such an intimate scenario is what he cherishes the most.

outside of the villa, the first real date you had, where he could show you what a good time actually means while with him. he loves remembering your laughter followed by your playfulness. nothing stays with him more than you having fun together, and it’s his favorite memory.

tai is not the type to buy everything and spoil.

there’s not a lot of thought behind store presents, according to him. he’s the kind of boyrfriend to give thought out presents, something that can represent an inside joke or a moment of importance between you. he will though bring you some items he makes at pottery class.

i believe one of the first things tai would ask you, on the outside, is about your favorite animal, so he can make one out of ceramic and give it to you, sort of as a lucky charm so you can remember him every time you look at it.

he just knows how much work goes into making one, and he would like to show his love and appreciation through that gesture.

O = Orange (What colour reminds them of their other half)

he would probably say orange or yellow. a shade or tone that he says it represents happiness and cheerful energy. that’s how he sees you and if he could attribute a color to you, they would have to have the same meaning.

P = Pet names (What pet names do they use?)

‘babe’ is a given, being the most commonly used.

but “beautiful” sums up everything he loves about you, beyond your looks. to him, you’re beautiful on the inside as well, so he likes to remind you of it.

he’ll call you that at all times, and it becomes a habit that he loves. he might even save your number under this pet name.

Q = Quaint (What is their favourite non-modern thing?)

vintage rugby cards.

there’s something about cards that throws him back to when he was a child, aspiring to play rugby as a professional career, but it was impossible to actually see himself in that scenario.

the cards remind him anything is possible, and he shouldn’t ever let go of his dreams, as absurd as they might see, to other people.

R = Rainy Day (What do they like to do on a rainy day?)

takeout. couch. movie.

it’s just the killing combo tai loves so much. snuggling closer under a blanket, while comfortable on the couch, food in hand and remote on the other. i even think tai has some “rainy days” favorites to watch, that he reserves just for those moments.

also, i have a feeling tai likes baking cookies, specifically, so your place smells like fresh baked goods while the rain dashes outside.

spa afternoon.

goofing around in the bathroom while putting face masks on, and taking ridiculous pictures, might be part of his schedule for a rainy afternoon as well.

like i mentioned before, tai has a delicate hand and it’s not farfetched to imagine he likes painting your nails, or toe nails, or both. he takes extra care to not smudge it, and admires his work from afar when it’s done. he focuses very hard, trying to deliver the best work he can.

S = Sad (How do they cheer themselves/others up?)

tai definitely believes in the power of laughter and clownery. but also, if he can have you talking to him about what happened, he would love to help. being a good listener is one of his many talents, and he’ll insist you vent about what made you saud.

tickling you until you give him information is very possible as well.

he might take your hand and lead you for a walk, while you tell him everything, and when back home, tai might cook. he knows comfort food is one of the best medicine to cheer someone up.

drawing a bath so you can relax is definitely part of his agenda too.

as for him, he goes for a run, alone. he prefers to exercise by himself when he needs a pick me up. however, if you want to make him smile when he comes back, try to make something out of ceramic. if it looks good he’ll be impressed, and if it looks bad, he will lie, saying it’s amazing.

having someone that cares so much, to the point of trying pottery is the reason why he feels better.

everything! he loves hearing what you have to say about several subjects, no matter what they are.

he likes learning new things and having your input on matters that a couple wouldn’t talk about, usually. at times, he might sound weird by asking you something completely random, but he wants your insight on whatever it is, because he finds you so interesting.

you’re also the first person he tells good news, and the one he avoids when they’re bad.

from you? getting his shoulders and back massaged. if you’re a gifted singer, he also likes hearing your humming while your hands rub down the tension on his muscles.

by himself: pottery. there’s a reason it became more than a hobby. he does it to stay sane, and would love to share that particular interest with you if you want. but whenever he sits down, ready to turn the pottery wheel on, he already feels much better.

V = Vaunt (What do they like to show off? What are they proud of?)

tai is no stranger to show off his muscles. he definitely does it playfully, and often goofs around about it, but he’s proud of his achievements, body wise. it’s hard work and he won’t shy away from displaying them and be proud.

he also likes showing off what he has accomplished in pottery. there’s no denial someone so big would be a disaster in this scenario. usually, anyway.

he likes being the exception, and the praises people give him. it’s not vain, it’s just a reason to be proud of himself.

W = Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?)

his proposal is not as elaborate as his speech to ask you is. his ideal location would be an empty field, after hours. he would probably slip someone some bribe so you could “jump the fence” and enter the place, having you thinking you’re invading.

i imagine he would warm up to the subject, and when he’s getting to the moment he so desperately wants, the lights will go on, illuminating the whole lawn.

while you’re busy, being shocked and looking around you, he’ll quickly kneel and whip a small box from his pocket. his words might make you chuckle among tears, but that’s how he wants to propose.

as for the wedding, a simple ceremony somewhere sandy and sunny. close friends and family, and food that the guests will remember forever as being the best they’ve ever had.

he won’t settle for less but won’t ask for more.

X = Xylophone (What’s their song?)

there’s a colorful song that reminds me of him, "groove is in the heart” by dee-lite. the energy that goes into that tune has tai written all over. upbeat, fun and always the heart of the party.

and he grew up in the 90′s, so i like picturing his parents dancing in the living room to this type of music, pulling tai by his hand, goofing around together while the colorful videos were on.

but a couple of songs i love to picture him listening to, chilling with someone he loves, carelessly, is “over the rainbow” by israel kamakawiwoʻole. it’s such a chill and hopeful song, but has a light tone to it, and iz’s voice is just so suiting.

yes. he definitely will pull out some stops to make the proposal happen. he can’t wait to make it official and start a life with you.

dog! dog! multiple dogs! 

one at a time, but the bigger the better!

tai is very charitable and would like to rescue a dog. one to start. he can already picture your weekends and afternoons during quarantine.

You see how he is with his members ? Yeah, he’s worse with you, expect some cuddling 24/7 with this soft boy. He is also a big fan of complimenting. He will make sure to tell you all the little things he likes about you at least once a day.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

You guys friendship started when you were helping him improve his Korean. You were the top student in your class, so naturally the teacher asked you and you said yes.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Cuddles are for when you two are alone together. The other times he would hug you, or have his arm around you.

I see him as a fan of full body cuddles, being I each others arms, legs tangled together.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Would want to but can’t really because of his work. But only after a few years of relationship though. This boy is so sweet, he would be scared to settle down, and that his S/O would grow tired of being alone most of the time. He really wouldn’t want them to be sad, or feel lonely.

Would sometimes lack a bit in the chores department, but would always make it up to you, by giving you massages, or thanking you non stop.

He won’t mind cooking from time to time, and is eager to learn.

He wouldn’t know how to do it, and refuse to see their partner hurt because of them. He could probably stay in a relationship he doesn’t want for a little while, just for the sake of making his partner happy.

Probably nt the fastest one to want to get married. Eventually yes, he will, but for now he’s embracing the life he has, that feels perfect to him.

Veeeery gentle, the softest boy in the land.

He looooves hugs. Even if he doesn’t hug you, he’s often pressed to your side. He lowkey likes when you wrap your arms around him but wouldn’t say it. Other times, he likes when you lay on top of him, so he can feel your whole body against his.

Not that fast, maybe a few months into the relationship, once he is really sure of his feeling, and certain that he won’t get hurt or rejected.

Felix is a kitty, he likes to be close, likes nose and Eskimo kisses.

Really fun, always trying to make them laugh, pretty silly at times, but overall adrable.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Mornings in bed happen but they are not the most common. When you finally get time with him, you both want to enjoy our days to the fullest, so there won’t be much “staying in bed all day” happening.

He likes to watch movies, snuggled under a warm blanket with you curled up to his side, or with your head on his lap.

He’s a pretty shy boy, and you would have to persevere to get to really know him. But once you get him to trust you and open up, he won’t hesitate to do so.

I don’t feel like he would really get angered, but he can get kind of snappy and passive aggressive is something really goes too far for him.

He get frustrated easily though.

He has a fairly good memory, a little bit more than average, and is so passionate about you that he remembers almost everything.

The fist time he came back from tour to your place, being allowed by the company to spend some time with you. You had gave him the keys before he left, so he came inside only knocking lightly. But he stopped dead in his tracked and smiled when he saw you dancing silly, and singing into a wooden spoon to your favorite Stray Kids song.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Felix likes to protect you physically, but he likes to have your protection as well. And by protection, I mean the security of knowing you’ll always be by his side, even in the sad or scary moments.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He would try his best but not always have all the time, or the imagination to do what would be perfect in his opinion.

Little does he know, you always find your dates perfect, and you couldn’t care less about what is happening, just wanting to bee with him.

His bad habit would be using his low voice to kind of get you to stop being mad at him, I don’t really if it counts as bad. But he knows ou like it and will definitely use it at his advantage.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Not that much to be honest. If he could not wear makeup he wouldn’t. When he’s home with you he never wears it, and if you two have to go outside, to go grocery shopping, or just a walk in the park, he would do the bare minimum.

Of course, if you two go on a date or something, he would make some efforts, but more on his outfit  and hair than makeup.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

I think you have helped him, and brought him so much, that if he were to lose you, it’d feel like a big part of him is missing, and it would take a lot of time for him to heal.

Dancing, all. The. Time.  This boy is always dancing, it could be girl group, fortnite, or his own group dances. He never gets tired of it, and you lowkey don’t either.

He hates when you call him by his Korean name, because it often means you’re mad at him, and being mad at him means no cuddles for the Aussie.

1. Fine Art, Film and Cinema

Fine Art:

Elizabeth Catlett, Target, 1970

In 1915, Elizabeth Catlett (the granddaughter of freed enslaved people) was born in Washington, D.C. and unflinchingly depicted the violent reality of racial injustice throughout her career. Catlett’s decision to focus on her ethnic identity, and its association with slavery and class struggles, was bold and unconventional in the 1930s and 1940s when African Americans were expected “to assimilate themselves into a more Eurocentric ethic,”. She confronted the most disturbing injustices against African Americans, including lynchings and beatings, as she was confident that art could foster social change. She also portrayed civil rights leaders — Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Angela Davis and Malcolm X — as well as the courage and resilience of everyday African-Americans, particularly women. She “always wanted my (her) art to service my (Black) people — to reflect us, to relate to us, to stimulate us, to make us aware of our potential,”. She believed that “We have to create an art for liberation and for life.” Target and Black Unity (1968), a raised fist carved in mahogany, are two of the most iconic and lasting artworks in the continuing movement for civil rights.

The signifier is the cross hairs of a rifle sight framing the head of an African-American (Black) man mounted on a block of wood. It was created in response to the fatal shooting of two Black Panthers, Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, by Chicago police officers. The signified is to highlight the fact that research shows that young Black men are far more likely to be killed by police than other Americans. It also dates back to the Civil War era when rifle scopes entered into widespread use or to the present day where more up to date weapons are used as well as choke holds and physical restraints. I have discovered that artwork can have an ever lasting impact on the world as it can still be very much relevant years to come. The research has helped me discover the potential in possibly creating a symbol or action that can be used in/to identify a protest in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project. Martha Rosler, Semiotics of the Kitchen, 1975

Martha Rosler’s video is a grainy six minutes that spits in the face of America’s gendered social hierarchy. In a kind of parody (or perhaps anightmarish version) of Julia Child’s cooking shows in the 1960s, Rosler stands in a kitchen, wearing an apron and walks through the alphabet, assigning letters to various objects found there (“A” for “apron,” “B” for “bowl,” “C” for “chopper”) as she holds these objects up to the camera with an eerie lack of expression and emotion. Her movements become increasingly contrived and violent as the video continues on. By the time she gets to “fork,” she’s stabbing at the table aggressively with the utensil. When she arrives at the letter “R,” for “rolling pin,” she thrusts the object at the camera. By the end of the alphabet, she’s brandishing other kitchen tools like weapons, stabbing the air. The video ends with the artist offering an exhausted shrug, an ambiguous gesture that feels less like a resignation of fate and more a way of asking, “What is wrong with us?”.

The signifier is a woman wearing an apron reciting the alphabet while demonstrating objects in the kitchen that correspond with the start of each letter. The signified is to highlight America’s gendered social hierarchy. It also demonstrates women’s frustration with society’s expectation of them being housewives therefore they feel that they are unable to dream big due to being trapped in a cage. Ava DuVernay, When They See Us, 2019

When They See Us is based on a true story that gripped the United States of America, it chronicles the notorious case of five teenagers of colour, labeled the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they did not commit. The four part limited series will focus on the five teenagers from Harlem (Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise). In the spring of 1989, when the teenagers were first questioned about the incident, the series will span 25 years, highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement reached with the city of New York in 2014. When They See Us was created by Ava DuVernay, who also co-wrote and directed the four parts. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey from Harpo Films, Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh from Tribeca Productions executive produce the limited series alongside DuVernay through her banner, Forward Movement. In addition to DuVernay, Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, and Michael Starrburry also serve as writers on the limited series.

The signifier is five teenagers of colour from Harlem, New York sitting in a holding room after being illegally questioned/beaten by NYC police. The signified is to highlight the fact that research shows that Black men are 3.5 more times likely to be falsely accused of a sexual assault crime they did not commit than their white counterparts. It shows how their conviction effected their lives before and after they were exonerated. It also shows how they were all pinned against each other, from the very beginning, just for the sake of convicting someone due to the cases huge media coverage gaining it public attention.

I have discovered that cinema can have an ever lasting impact on an individual as I, myself, and I’m sure many others can relate will remember scenes from this movies years to come and forever carry that anger and heartache for the victims (Antron, Kevin, Yusef, Raymond and Korey). The research has helped me discover the potential in possibly using real life stories of activism (preferably issues that physically or mentally affect us such as domestic abuse, racial injustice or mental health) to create a greater impact and deeper personal connection in result making an everlasting impact on the individual viewing in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

2. Graphic Communications, Advertising and Semiotics

Graphic Communications:

Hank Willis Thomas, All Power to All People, 2017

Hank Willis Thomas’s “All Power to All People” is an eight-foot-tall Afro pick with a Black Power fist raised to the sky as its handle. It is a response to America’s long history of erecting monuments to racist white men. It was first installed in Philadelphia’s Thomas Paine Plaza, not far from a statue of Frank Rizzo, the city’s former mayor and police commissioner. Starting in 1967, Rizzo presided over a police department that was known across the country for its unhinged racial violence, and when he was elected mayor in 1972, he only helped perpetuate and cover up this violence. The Philadelphia Inquirer cited a grim statistic that “police shot civilians at a rate of one per week between 1970 and 1978,” roughly the period in which Rizzo was running the city. Thomas’s statue was a remarkable rejoinder. Though it was only on view in the plaza for about two months, it has since become a kind of roving monument to equality. Versions of the sculpture have been shown at places ranging from Burning Man to the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Human Rights Campaign. Meanwhile, after protests over police brutality against Black Americans erupted across the country this summer, Rizzo’s statue was vandalized and, finally, taken down.

The signifier is an eight-foot-tall Afro pick with a Black Power fist raised to the sky as its handle and a peace sign featuring in the middle. The Black Panthers used the slogan "All Power to the People" to protest centuries of racial injustice against Black people in America. The Black Power fist is associated to the Black Power movement that began in 1960. It was a social movement motivated by a desire for safety and self-sufficiency that was not available inside redlined African American neighbourhoods. The signified is to highlight America’s long history of erecting monuments to racist white men. It also shows that white racist men are glorified and rewarded for their racism with a monument. This further adds fuel to the fire as it further adds to the on going disrespect and injustice of Black people.

I have discovered that historical objects (usually frowned upon or used to shame others) relating to ethic groups can be used to celebrate and moralise. The research has helped me discover the potential in using items that cultures were originally shamed for and then culturally appropriated by other races as a way to reclaim them as their own in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

Guerrilla Girls, Do Women Have To Be Naked To Get Into the Met. Museum?, 1989

Guerrilla Girls are an anonymous group of feminist. They are female artists devoted to fighting sexism and racism within the art world. In 1985, the group formed in New York City with the mission of bringing gender and racial inequality into focus within the greater arts community. The group employs culture jamming in the form of posters, books, billboards, and public appearances to expose discrimination and corruption. Members wear gorilla masks and use pseudonyms that refer to deceased female artists to remain anonymous. Their identities are concealed because issues matter more than individual identities, "Mainly, we wanted the focus to be on the issues, not on our personalities or our own work."

The signifier is a nude portrait of a women (in black and white) laying on a purple silk sheet while holding it and wearing a gorilla mask. The purple silk sheet appears as a sex toy on first inspect, on second inspect it appears as a feather duster due to the dark shadows and shape on the sheet creating the effect of bristles but once you take a closer inspection it is clear that the sheet has been made to look this way to truck the mind. Both these items, the sex toy and feather duster, are meant to degrade women and place a stigma around these objects. They are made to shame/put women (down) purely based on the decision they make. The signified is to highlight the fact that less than 5% of the artists in the Modern Art Sections are women but 85% of the nude portraits are female.

I have discovered that objects can be used to deceive the viewer into believing something completely different to what is presented in front of them (intentionally) in other words this would be seen as an illusion of some sort. The research has helped me discover the potential in intentionally deceiving viewers in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

Advertising:

Act Up (campaign poster), Silence = Death, 1987

In the early years of the AIDS epidemic, the US government and mainstream media infamously ignored the crisis. By the time President Reagan finally uttered the word “AIDS” in 1985, 12,000 Americans had already died. That same year, six men in New York City (Avram Finkelstein, Brian Howard, Oliver Johnston, Charles Kreloff, Chris Lione and Jorge Socarrás) began meeting to privately share their experiences of AIDS-related loss in the absence of public discourse. They were inspired to create something tangible that could spread awareness, they swiftly settled on a poster. They decided that it should have have little (if any) text. Frankielien belied that  “Sentences barely do (work). You need sound bites, catchphrases, crafted in plain language. The poster is exactly that, a sound bite, and vernacular to the core. The poster perfectly suits the American ear. It has a power. If you’ve ever stopped in front of one or turned your head for a second look, that power was at work.” The result of their collaboration was a hot pink triangle (an inverted version of the symbol Nazis used to label gay men) emblazoned on a black background above the slogan “Silence = Death”. It debuted in 1987. The six friends hired wheat-pasters to cover the East Village, West Village, Times Square, Chelsea and the Upper West Side (neighbourhoods chosen to reach both queer audiences and the media) overnight, and the city woke up to what became the most enduring icon of H.I.V./AIDS-related activism. Later that year, on April 15, members of the newly formed activist group AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (Act Up) stormed the city’s General Post Office carrying copies of the sign, solidifying its ongoing centrality to their cause.

The signifier is a black and white poster reading “SILENCE = DEATH” with a hot pink triangle in the centre of the page. The pink triangle draws the viewer in creating a central focus is to highlight the fact that the AIDS epidemic/crisis was infamously ignored by the US government and mainstream media resulting in 12,000 Americans dying before the issue was publicly addressed by the current President (Ronald Reagan) using the word “AIDS” to create a clear and direct message.

I have discovered that using little to any words and a play on historical icons previously used to dehumanise others can create a powerful effect on the viewer causing them to have another look and really focus on the subject matter. The research has helped me discover the potential in reclaiming objects that are used to oppress others and use short snappy catchphrases to grab the attention of others in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

Semiotics:

Dread Scott, A Man Was Lynched by Police Yesterday, 2015

From 1920 until 1938, the N.A.A.C.P. would mark lynchings by flying a stark black and white flag reading “A Man Was Lynched Yesterday” from its New York headquarters on Fifth Avenue. The was done to confront the residents of a northern city with the horrifying regularity of these murders. In 1938, the N.A.A.C.P. ceased flying the flag after the organisation’s landlord threatened eviction. In 2015, Dread Scott felt that the banner was just as grimly necessary in the present day United States of America as it had been nearly a century earlier. He produced his own version of the flag, updating the text to read “A Man Was Lynched by Police Yesterday” in response to the fatal shooting of Walter Scott by a South Carolina police officer. “During the Jim Crow era, Black people were terrorized by lynching…It was a threat that hung over all Black people who knew that for any reason or no reason whatsoever you could be killed and the killers would never be brought to justice,” said Scott. “Now the police are playing the same role of terror that lynch mobs did at the turn of the century.”. The piece became a source of national controversy when it remained on view above the street after a deadly sniper attack on police officers in Dallas, Texas, sparking a wave of threats to the of Jack Shainman Gallery from people who felt that the work encouraged violence against police. The gallery removed the flag and displayed it indoors following pressure from the building owner.

The signifier is a black and white flag reading “A MAN WAS LYNCHED BY POLICE YESTERDAY” hanging from a flag pole. The way in which the piece has been displayed shows a stark resemblance to the topic of discussion on the banner/flag. This is due to the fact that there is a clear link to the action/movement of what would happen to the victim when these acts of hate crime would be carried out. Furthermore, the use of black and white colours symbolise the two races affected not only that but it creates a stark contrast therefore grabbing the attention of others. The signified is to highlight the fact that “A Man Was Lynched by Police Yesterday” (something that has been and still is a common occurrence in America). It also highlights the horrific acts of hate crime and racism that is directed at/towards Black people on a regular basis throughout the world (but more commonly with the USA). These acts of hate crime have been around for centuries however they have changed in the way they are carried out and by whom they are carried out by. Despite this, one thing has remained the same…no punishment is never given. 

I have discovered that subtle visual links to the subject matter create a powerful impact. The research has helped me discover the potential in simplistic art pieces in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

3. Fashion Design, Photography and Promotion

Fashion Design:

Public School, Make America New York, 2017

Public School creative directors’, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, athleisure-focused show featured sweatshirts with the phrase, "We Need Leaders" on the back. Many of the models wore red baseball caps that parodied Donald Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again" insisting instead that we "Make America New York”. During the finale, the song "This Land Is Your Land" played in the background.

The signifier is a red baseball reading "Make America New York." in white font that has been unpicked creating a distressed look. This imitates the (destructive) style of presidency Donald Trump took on. The signified is to highlight the fact that Donald Trump did not follow the formal style of presidency previous President in America usually follow. It also shows how Donald Trump was unable to lead the country due to the lack of his leadership skills and only ever appeasing to his base in result leaving many Americans unheard.

I have discovered that subtle visual links to well known controversial political figures creates a powerful impact. The research has helped me discover the potential in parody art pieces in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

Suzie Blake, Blood Mountain, 2019

Suzie Blake created a sculptural installation featuring a 3-meter high mound of red clothing and apparel. In the 3000 kilogram pile are T-shirts displayed slogans like “Girl Power” and “The Future Is Female” which peak out from the crimson clothing. It is displayed like a giant pile of landfill. The clothing is all in the hue of that liquid which runs through our veins and tarnishes our hands when we remain silent on serious issues. Blake created the work in the form of a mountain as it is considered the archetype of ascent and power  ( the bridge between heaven and earth). Her goal was to reimagine this archetype in the form of greed and waste. “Blood Mountain” asks, what is the environmental cost of bloated man-made structures? And what is the role of feminism within such structures? Also, whose empowerment does the current iteration of the feminist movement serve? And since when did we think it was acceptable for brands to piggyback on our movement?

The signifier is a sculptural installation featuring a 3-meter high mound of red clothing and apparel. The signified is to highlight the fact that the fast fashion industry is the second biggest polluter after oil. It also brings attention to the fat that most garment workers are women, or sometimes girls  (around 85%) who get paid on average $3 a day. It also raises a set of questions in the viewer’s head such as “What is the environmental cost of man-made structures?”, “What is the role of feminism within such structures?”, “Also, whose empowerment does the current iteration of the feminist movement serve?” and “And since when did we think it was acceptable for brands to piggyback on our movement?”.

I have discovered that pairing well known objects (that are associated with a topic) and subtle objects that imply the effect the topic has on humans creates a powerful and clear message while opening viewers’ eyes to situations that were overshadowed. The research has helped me discover the potential in direct but subtle art pieces in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project. Promotion:

Vivienne Westwood, Homo Loquax A/W 19 LFW, 2019

Vivienne Westwood is renowned for seamlessly amalgamating fashion and activism, having used her platform over the years to protest a whole range of issues, from fracking to austerity. Westwood had models wear clothes with slogans berating politicians while protests about the environmental impact of London Fashion Week took place. She sent models down the catwalk wearing aprons and tabards with anti-consumerist and climate change slogans.The show happened at the same time as environmental action group Extinction Rebellion organised protests at several of London Fashion Week venue's to highlight the throwaway nature of the fashion industry. Models also held microphones and spoke to the audience in a theatrical display, urging one another to buy less and pontificating on the consequences of consumerism. A model paused on the runway to say that Brexit was a crime, while another took a jibe at American foreign policy. The clothes themselves were as avant-garde as one would expect of a Vivienne Westwood collection.

The signifier is a collection of clothes featuring slogans berating politicians. The collection also featured a set of playing cards that illustrate a plan to save the world from climate change. The signified is to promote the dangers of climate change, Brexit and capitalism. It also shows that fashion is all about styling: buy less, choose well, make it last.

I have discovered that using a global stage to speak out on issues that affect the world as a whole can deliver a strong and direct message. The research has helped me discover the potential in using fashion as a political message/statement in identifying opportunities for progressing with the project.

Fluffy A-Z: Johnny

A: activities (things you’d do together)

Johnny’s very daring so I can see him wanting to do things like skydiving, scuba diving, etc, together. If you’re not too into that kind of adrenaline rush, I think he’d still enjoy going to an amusement park or doing anything else that’s fairly active. I think he’d enjoy something like the tandem bike ride he and Yuta went on during the 24-hour relay. He seems to like learning “new thangs” (see what I did there? 😜) as well, so I could see you doing some things like on JCC - taking an art or cooking class, learning to salsa dance together, etc.

B: beauty (things about you he finds physically appealing)

I think he’s stated before that he’s a sucker for a good smile. He’s always smiling himself and I really think he looks for people who are as upbeat and optimistic as he is. That’s why I really feel like the first thing he’d notice about someone is their smile, and why it’s his favorite physical attribute of yours.

C: cuddle style

Johnny is sometimes seen as a bit scary but I think he gets really cute when he wants to cuddle. I think he’d pout and use a cute voice if he was trying to convince you to cuddle with him. When you give in, he’d wrap his arms around you and pull you as close as possible. Johnny is capable of just cuddling for hours on end if he’s in the right mood. Sometimes those cuddles will lead to something more sexual. But just as often, those cuddles end in the two of you falling asleep in each other’s arms.

D: deal breakers (relationship deal breakers for him)

For Johnny, someone who is very pessimistic or someone who complains about everything would be a definite deal breaker. He’s very optimistic himself and I don’t think this would be a difference that could be overcome. Dealing with someone who complains all the time would be too emotionally and mentally draining for him.

E: education (what and how you learn from each other)

One of the things that makes Johnny really endearing is his outlook on and zest for life. I think that just by being around him, you would naturally absorb some of that energy. He also has a very optimistic outlook on life that’s really infectious - you’d never really know you were learning to be more like that, but it would definitely rub off on you.

F: first impression (the impression he gives off on your first date)

He comes across so confident that even if he was a bit nervous (not that I think he would be) I don’t think he’d ever show it. He would be so charming and friendly and he would make sure that you were both relaxed and having a good time. He’d keep it pretty casual on your first date so that neither of you felt any pressure and could just get to know each other a bit better and have some fun.

G: gifts (things he buys for you)

I think Johnny is more into spending time together than in giving you gifts. However, I also think he’s really good at remembering little things you say in your conversations. So if he randomly came across something that you mentioned liking or wanting, he would buy it for you as a way of letting you know he’s listening to you and thinking of you.

H: happy (when he’s the happiest with you)

I think Johnny’s the happiest with you when you’re both doing something together that’s a bit out of your comfort zones. It would make him so happy that you trust him enough to push some of your boundaries with him by your side (and vice versa). I really, really think that’s something he appreciates in a romantic partner because it builds so much trust and shows that you’re willing to take a risk for him.

I: introduction (when and how he introduces you to the people in his life)

Johnny would introduce you to everyone in a really natural way. There wouldn’t be any big event or meeting to introduce you to people. If you happened to be hanging out at the dorms when other members are there, he’d introduce you without any hesitation (even very early on in your relationship). Because his family is in the States, it might be a bit different. But he definitely wouldn’t hide your relationship from them. He’d bring you up casually in conversation so when you did meet them it would be no big deal.

J: jealousy

I actually don’t think Johnny is a very jealous person. Possessive, yes. Jealous, no. It would take a previous huge breech of trust to make him jealous. He wouldn’t get involved with someone he didn’t trust so I don’t think he worries too much about that. I’m sure he has some jealous moments (who doesn’t?), but they’re small and quick to come and go.

K: knew he was in love when ...

With Johnny, I don’t think there would be one singular moment where he was like, “yup, this is it”. I think it would be a build up of all the little moments from your relationship that make him realize his feelings for you. He would be in love before he realized it and wouldn’t be able to pinpoint the exact moment he fell in love with you.

L: love language

For giving, Johnny’s love language is quality time. There’s nothing he’d rather do than spend time with you even if it’s in small doses because of his (or your) schedule. Just carving out an hour here or there would be his way of showing you how committed he is to you and your relationship. For receiving, I think he’d like quality time (as mentioned above), words of affirmation, and gifts. Johnny gives a lot (his time, his effort, his attention, etc.) so I think he would really appreciate someone who just acknowledges and appreciates the things he does for them. I also think he’d really love getting small, meaningful or cute gifts from his partner for no reason. It would just show him that you’re thinking of him.

M: make-out session (his favorite type of kisses)

I feel like Johnny really likes kissing. A lot. And i think he enjoys a variety of types of kisses - from really deep and passionate to silly and sweet. But I think he really loves quick, random kisses (lips, cheeks, forehead - doesn’t matter where) when they are least expected. Whether it’s him or you doing the kissing, I think he loves the surprise of a quick, innocent kiss whenever the mood strikes you. In a way, those kinds of kisses show more vulnerability than deeper ones, and I think he appreciates the trust and innocence of those.

N: nicknames

I think Johnny would stick to calling you “baby” most often. He might give you a funny or teasing nickname based off an inside joke, but he’d only call you that when he wanted to tease you or get you riled up. Similarly, I think he’d like you calling him “babe”.

O: odor (what he smells like)

I’ve seen a few posts about the fragrances that NCT uses and most say that Johnny uses more fresh or watery scents (not sure where they get their info, though). I don’t think he wears cologne on a daily basis, though. So most of the time I think he just smells natural and like his laundry soap, shampoo, or aftershave. 

P: pda

I honestly think that he’d be fine with most pda (not a heavy make-out session, though). Johnny seems to be the kind of person that does what he wants most of the time. Not that he doesn’t care about everyone’s feelings, but he just realizes that he needs to do what makes him happy, and that would include holding your hand, hugging you, or giving you a kiss in public when he felt like it. No need to hide the fact that he loves you.

Q: quirks (odd things he does)

It’s not so odd, but I can see Johnny just watching you (not in a creepy way) at random times, like when you’re reading or cooking. There will be some habit or quirk of yours that you’re unaware of that he finds really endearing and it just makes him want to look at you to see if you’ll do it. I don’t think he’d point out your quirk for fear that you’ll stop doing it.

R: romantic gestures

Johnny seems like he’d be pretty romantic on a daily basis. He likes the small, everyday gestures that show you how he feels rather than large, grand romantic gestures. He’d make you pancakes in the shape of a heart and bring them to you in bed. He’d let you pick what movie to watch. He’d hold your hand at random times. He’d rub your back or feet. He’d send you a text when he heard a joke you’d like or when he saw something that reminded him of you.

S: saying I Love You (who says it first)

While I think that he’d fall in love first, you’d need to say it first. I have no reasoning other than it’s just a gut feeling I have about him.

T: tail (what kind of pets and animals you’ll have)

I picture him with a couple of dogs, maybe one cat. But that’s about it. I don’t see him wanting a farm with horses, goats, or llamas. He wouldn’t really see the point of fish or turtles (unless his kids begged for them). I do think he really likes dogs and would want to adopt some. I can see him saying he doesn’t really like cats but would secretly be a big softie for one (especially if you really want a cat).

U: upbringing (what kind of dad he’ll be)

When Johnny has kids he’ll be the best dad! He’ll be so active with them - building cushion forts, having sword fights with paper towel rolls, reading them stories, playing hide and seek, costume parties (just imagine him in a tiara having a tea party with his daughter and her stuffed animals ... 🥰). I think he’ll be the “fun” parent. While I think he’d have rules for his kids, he’d let them get away with minor stuff on occasion just because he would find them so cute while they were being naughty.

 V: vacation style

Personally, I think that Johnny would be so fun to travel with! He’d be up for almost anything and wound’t need to plan everything out ahead of time (though he’d be fine with a loose schedule/plan if you needed one). He’s more of the explore-and-see-what-we-can-find type of traveller. He’d love just walking around a city, getting lost, and being surprised at what he finds. I think he’d also really like doing active and/or adrenaline pumping things like surfing or bungee jumping. I see him more as a city guy than a country guy.

W: wild card

We all know how much Johnny enjoys photography and videography. So it should come as no shock that I think he’d try to take your picture all. the. time. He’d love watching you do everyday things (see Q above) and would try to capture those on film. After a while, I think it would be kind of a game between you - he sneakily tries to take a photo of you and you try to catch him and ruin the photo by sticking your tongue out at him. But those would be his favorite pictures!

X: eXtremes (the two extreme sides of his personality in a relationship)

I think that, for the most part, what you see is what you get with Johnny. He’s very easygoing with most things. Even if he has a different opinion about something, he’d oftentimes let it go because he knows that some things aren’t worth arguing/debating. However, I think there are some things he feels very strongly about. In that case, he can be very stubborn and will never give in. And in some cases when you’re arguing about it, I think he can get quite angry if you refuse to even recognize his opinion or tell him that his opinion is wrong.

Y: yes (how often he gives in to you)

I feel that with Johnny, he’d give in to your wants about 50% of the time. He’s very opinionated and sure in his wants and beliefs so it would take a very convincing argument to get him to give in. However, he’s also very reasonable and likes making sure that you feel heard as well. For something small (like where to eat dinner) he’d make you work for it by playfully or cutely begging even though he had every intention of going with your idea anyway.

Z: zzz (sleeping style when you’re together)

He’s the big spoon most often when you’re sleeping together, but I think Johnny also likes snuggling with your face in his chest. As long as he’s holding you in some way, he’s happy.

He even gets flustered when you call him his given name (Tamaki) instead of Amajiki. • In private or when you are both alone, Tamaki is very affectionate once he gets physically and emotionally comfortable with you. He loves to kiss your forehead and play with your hair. • Tamaki doesn't like receiving affection in public but in private, he loves it when you play with his hair and kiss him softly.

• Tamaki doesn't talk much, so he doesn't talk about you to other people a lot unless asked.

• Tamaki absolutely loves cuddles, especially from you. When you're both alone or he has had a bad day he gets all cuddly and refuses to let go of you unless it's for a good reason.

• You both try and go on a date at least once a month. • Most time you just spend time together in Tamakis' dorm room or you go to a park to have a picnic.

E = Effort (How much effort do they put into the relationship?):

• Tamaki tries his best to put his shyness and anxiety away with you and tries his best to communicate with you even if it can be very hard. • He definitely puts effort into making sure your relationship is healthy and you are both happy with it.

F = Flirting (How do they flirt and how do they react to being flirted with):

• Tamaki gets very flustered when flirted with. He normally become very red and tries to hide his face. • Flirting isn't really Tamaki's strong points. He's scared he'll say something that will upset or disappoint you.

G = Gift (How often do they give you gifts?):

• The first gift he ever got you was for your one month anniversary and it was a little butterfly pin. • He doesn't give gifts often but when he does it's for a reason and the gift is always meaningful.

H = Health (What do they do when you're sick?):

•When you're sick, he makes sure to take care of you to the best of his abilities and makes sure you get the rest you need to be able to get better as fast as possible. He also makes you soup that is very delicious.

I = Insecurity (What is they're biggest insecurity that affects the relationship?):

• He's insecure about nearly everything, so it means that praise is a must if you want him not to overthink everything he does with you.

J = Jealous (How often do they get jealous and how do they react?):

• Surprisingly, Tamaki kinda is the type to get jealous. If you tell someone they did a great job or something along those lines he will become jealous but doesn't really tell you.

K = Kiss (What are their favourite kisses and where do they kiss you the most?):

• Tamaki isn't big on french kisses (tongue kisses) but he loves every other type of kiss. • He kisses you mostly on the tip of your nose and lips.

• He tells you 'i love you' at least once day but most of the time he doesn't say it loud enough for you to be even able to hear. • Since he has a hard time saying it out loud he shows you it by making sure he hugs you a lot and he always gets worried the minute you get even a light bruise. • He shows his love like a kitten nearly, it's really cute.

• If you and Tamaki were to get married, it would probably after both of you have been dating for over 5 years. • If you started dating in high school, he would like to ask you to marry him during graduation, but he would be too scared of rejection and decide not to.

• Tamaki is very shy and anxious, but also sweet and caring and extremely observative on what's happening around him.

• On special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries he cooks your favourite meal (in understanding that you will also cook his favourite meal). • For events, he likes it when you both match, especially if the match is butterfly themed.

P = Protective (How protective are they over you?):

• Tamaki can be extremely protective when he notices you're upset or hurt. If at one point of the day you get sad or hurt, he'll make sure to be by your side for the rest of the day. But he does think that you are strong enough to fight for yourself so he's mostly there for emotional support.

Q = Quirk (How do they use their quirk in relation to your?):

• When it comes to training, he likes to train with you since there's a high chance you will work together after U.A but he doesn't like it when he hurts you even if it's always an accident and makes sure to clean your cuts and all that after.

R = Relax (How do you two relax?):

• Tamaki can only really relax in his dorm room or house so most of the time you come over and you both listen to music together or just cuddle and nap.

S = Safe (Do they feel safe around you? Can you feel safe around them?):

• Tamaki definitely feels safe around you and he makes sure you feel safe around him.

T = Temper (How often do they lose their temper with you?):

• Tamaki rarely gets angry or lose his temper. To be honest the only time he lost his temper with you was when you got into a massive fight with a vilain and didn't listen to order from your mentor and ended up getting suspended from class for a week and got very injured, and it was very scary. You learnt an angry Tamaki is a very scary Tamaki. But other than that time he never gets angry at you, more frustrated if you don't cuddle him.

U = Upset (What do they do when you're upset and what do you do when they're upset?):

• When you're upset he takes you from what you're doing and takes you somewhere calm and just let you talk about why you're upset and cuddle you. • When you notice Tamaki's upset, it takes time for him to actually talk to you about it but with a lot of sweet words and making sure he feels safe, he does.

V = Vacation (Where would you go on vacation together?):

• Tamaki would love to have a vacation with you in the country side or a forest.

W = Wild card (Writers choice):

• Tamaki sometimes uses his tentacles to tickle you and hug you. It's weird but it makes both of you laugh.

X = X-ray (How are they behind closed doors? What is their body type?):

• Behind close doors, Tamaki is very loving. You may be cooking in the kitchen when all of your other classmates are out and he will compliment you out of the blue and catch you off guard. • His body type is thin but still lean and strong.

Y = Yearn (How much to they pine when you're not around?):

• He can go a week with out seeing or talking to you before he starts messaging you asking how you are and getting worried about you.

Z = ZZZ (What are they like to sleep with?):

• He sleeps very easily and tend to sort of gravitate towards you for warmth when he sleeps with out him realising. • He looks very relaxed when he sleeps and falls asleep easily.

from a young age, anyone who knew rosalina garcia, knew she was destined to be a star. their personality shone bright from as early as five. the little tike running around in her ballet costumes, putting on concerts for her brothers and sisters and tias. her mexican roots were strong and she loved to sing her abuela’s favorite mariachi songs, putting her own twist on them and making her cry from living room performances time after time. life was good at first, her mother was young, vibrant, and beautiful. she taught rosa all she knew about being herself, about being kind, and most importantly how to love others through their ugliness. her father was good, or so she thought. sure, he worked a lot, but, she loved him, she was a daddy’s girl through and through. her father wasn’t the father of her eldest sister, and growing up, she witnessed him mistreat her a lot. this confused young rosalina. she couldn’t understand how the father she loved could be so cruel to her older sister. rosalina’s mom was often caught in the middle. she did her best to hide his abusive nature, but as rosalina got older, she witnessed more and more of who her father truly was.

it wasn’t always bad, sometimes he was normal, but most of the time, the house was chaotic, her mother was miserable and her light started to dim slowly over time. rosalina’s older sister was going through her own struggles and rosalina would often end the day in bed, crying and writing music as a way to release. she kept a journal to document her feelings, it was the only safe place she had. when rosalina was only eleven, the worst occurred. her mother had continued to decline, and soon she was so stressed that she started experiencing seizures, though the doctors could never pinpoint exactly what was causing them. rosalina quickly grew worried about her mother and sometimes her older sister would have to come and meet them in the middle of parking lots because suddenly her mother started feeling sick and couldn’t drive them home. it was all so traumatic for rosalina and on halloween night that year, her mother passed away, alone at home while her father was out having an affair with another woman he’d met through work friends. rosalina had seen her father texting this woman one time when he picked her up from dance class, she questioned him on who it was and he lied right to her face, she kept it to herself and never said anything about it again.

the night rosalina’s mother died was the night a piece of rosalina’s childhood died. she was eleven, but her life was about to get even more tragic. her older sister wasn’t allowed to stay with them anymore, her father was taking his grieving out on everyone and eventually he started to control and montor rosalina’s ever move. the freedom she once had when her mother was alive, was no longer allowed. she had to quit dance, she got her phone taken one time for two years, he moved them to the other side of the city so it would be hard for other family members of her mothers to visit and see the kind of mental abuse he was putting her through. then the verbal abuse started, the belittling, the whore comments if she wore anything that was remotely showing skin, and then the physical abuse when she he went through her phone and found out she had a girlfriend. she wasn’t allowed to date boys either. she wasn’t allowed to be a kid, she had to stay home and do chores or risk being punished for not doing them. for a while she kept it all inside, she didn’t want to get her dad in trouble but when she was sixteen, the abuse became way too much. she finally told her older sister who lived on her own now, and she immediately went through the courts and got custody of rosalina. this was a rebirth for rosa. they could finally breathe again. they could enjoy life, they could have the space to figure out who the hell they were.

rosalina’s girlfriend has stuck with her through all of this and is her rock and number one supporter. rosalina still lives with her older sister and the two have never been closer. rosa is exploring her twenties and discovering self love again. she still struggles with ptsd and sometimes has nightmares. through her trauma she discovered astrology and started studying it intensely day and night. now, she’s been studying astrology for five years and it’s taught her so much about herself and people. she’s a famous astrology tik toker and has a patreon where people can pay monthly to access her monthly collective readings. she also does personal astrology readings at pluto’s shop aries apothecary. she makes cute little astrology videos on youtube and offers classes as well. ask her about the planets and she’ll love you forever.

He probably wouldn’t date anyone till second year because he really needed that character development, so I’m going off of that.

He wouldn’t admit his feelings straight up, but more so act on them, so there’s no big confession but you’ll notice him being more helpful and less,,, of a dick? After he figures his feelings out, which is gonna take awhile.

Likes helping you study, letting you eat food he “accidentally” made too much of, and suddenly having a bone to pick with someone who hurt you. 

So you’re either gonna notice and ask him on a date to which he begrudgingly says yes to, or he eventually is going be like “Fucking movie theaters. Saturday. 7:00.” and ya’ll are dating, congrats.

He doesn’t have any dating experience, and he doesn’t bother looking anything up or asking for any advice. It’s his relationship, he’ll figure it out, and he’s a Bakugou, he doesn’t need help. (That’s not what his sweaty and shaky palms say when you hold his hand on the first day.)

He’s not gonna yell it to the class, but in conversation, he’s gonna bring you up somehow.

He wouldn’t be big on PDA, but more of the subtleties like an arm around your waist or shoulders. So he likes a way to say “We’re together, fuck off.”??

He likes the security of having you near him, not that he’ll ever say that out loud.

In private, you better watch out.

Just always is touching you in some way? Like a hand on your thigh, waist, or hip. A casual arm around you or just leaning against you or sitting closer than usual. He also really likes doing things at the same time, like training, studying, or cooking. He just feels like it connects you two and like you’re improving together at the same time. (So sweet <3)

(Also probably likes cuddling, but only if he’s the big spoon.)

Will immediately stop anything if you even hint at it happening.

He is really, really protective of you, and pretty aggressive about it too. Like there’s always one complaint or insult in the mix, but he never hesitates to do or say what he feels he’s gotta do or say.

Todo-Doki-Doki

We all know he can be pretty blunt.

Well that doesn’t change much in romance.

One day, and it’s gonna take awhile and it’ll probably involve Midoriya in some way, it’ll hit him like:

“Oh, I like them.”

(He didn’t know what that meant previous to a stuttering and red Midoriya explaining it.)

He finds that out and the next day he’s confessing, doesn’t even consult Midoriya or anything on how to. He just knows he likes you and you’re one of the few important people to him so he’s not gonna waste any time.

It’s after class and you two are alone and he’s just “I like you, go out with me.”

I hc him being told by a way too embarrassed Midoriya to just watch romance movies and to kindly stop asking him for relationship advice before he passes out.

 So he does.

And oh boy,,,

He’s pulling every cheesy romance move out.

(His funds come from Endeavor’s credit card oops.) 

Walking across the beach, fancy dinners, picnics, study dates, ect.

Also doesn’t yell your relationship status from the rooftops, but he does talk about you a lot. It’s usually a compliment (read: humble bragging), and it’s in a very serious voice? It’s not soft, that’s for when he’s alone with you, but there’s a lot of conviction in his voice.

Doesn’t give a fuck about anything, especially social standards, so if he wants to hold your hand or kiss your forehead then people can just look away.

In private he’s even more ballsy.

Kinda like Bakugou, he’s always touching you, but more affectionately.

So it’s not just a hand on your thigh or an arm around your waist, it’s full on kisses on your lips, forehead, cheeks, nose and basically where ever he feels like it.

Also a lot of hugs. A lot. (It reminds him of his mom.)

While he does worry about you physically getting hurt, he worries more so about mental health and how you’re feeling.

He can be kind of dense, but he really does try to pay attention to that kind of stuff.

He also tries v v hard to comfort you in any way he thinks will help.

A lot of people see him as shy and the one who has to be lead in the relationship but I’m going to be the devil’s advocate.

He is shy, but, similar to his hero career, if he really wants something he’s going to go after it.

Midoriya is observant and will start to notice his feelings for you pretty quickly, and once he does, oh boy.

Logan Mayumi Armstrong is precisely three minutes and forty two seconds younger than his twin brother, Mason, and six years younger than his oldest sibling. He was a quiet baby who hardly ever cried and mostly kept to himself, even as a toddler. None of the family knew anything was wrong with Logan until he was five years old. The Armstrong family thought that maybe Logan was just a quiet child, or even a late bloomer. But soon enough, every other child in his play group could speak and Mason was already stringing together full sentences. Logan hadn’t uttered a single word and was taken to see a doctor, put through weeks of testing until finally, a result came through.

Logan was diagnosed with selective mutism. He had the ability to speak - the tests showed he had the physical ability, but he was unable to do so. The Armstrong family learned sign language in an effort to help their youngest son communicate and it was something he appreciated - he could actually ask for things now! More tests followed and eventually Logan was given a diagnosis of autism. He didn’t fully understand it, not when he was young, but he understood enough to know it made him different. He struggled to make friends in his class and often spent recess alone. Mason on the other hand, was confident and never shy of any friends. He was always around people, always out playing with his friends and happy.

Logan tried hard not to let his differences bother him. People didn’t understand him, that was what he told himself. He focused on the things he enjoyed instead, such as art. For Logan, it was a way of expressing himself without the need for words and he spent hours practicing, filling sketchbook after sketchbook. Art became his outlet, how he showed his feelings although most of his work he kept to himself. He didn’t want to upset anyone with his difference. He’d heard his mom crying when he was first diagnosed as autistic and understood being different made her sad. He’d heard his father say they could get through it and at least they had his siblings who would be able to lead “normal lives”. Those were the words his father had used and it hurt, to know he wasn’t normal. He’d known he was different, sure, but the thought of not being able to live a normal life hurt.

Logan never told either of his parents he’d overheard their conversation. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to hear it but he was sure it wouldn’t be good if they knew. He began to withdraw even more than before, stopping using sign language and only used simple, one-word answers to questions. Logan was battling with himself. As he got older, he realised he was even more different to his peers than he thought. Everyone started getting girlfriends when he entered high school and Logan wasn’t really interested in that. He thought girls were beautiful, sure, but Logan thought guys were too. He told Mason one day who seemed taken aback by the confession. The people in their school found out that Logan wasn’t quite straight and things only got worse. He was already picked on relentlessly for his lack of speech and being different but with new fuel to the fire, they made Logan’s life miserable.

The most difficult thing for him to accept was that no one wanted him around. He felt isolated, more alone than ever and didn’t know who to turn to for help. What could he do? He struggled with communication at the best of times. His parents were concerned at how withdrawn he’d become and heard from Mason how the bullying had gotten worse at school. They took him to a doctor and Logan was diagnosed with depression. He refused to take his medication and hid the pills from his parents - he didn’t need another thing wrong with him and he didn’t want the medication. He was careful though and everyone thought he was taking them when he was supposed to, believing it would just take time for him to get better.

Death wasn’t something that scared Logan. He wasn’t afraid to die and it was something he’d welcome. He wasn’t really sure what spurred his decision; he hadn’t been on his medication since his diagnosis and he was gradually getting worse. He couldn’t think of any other way to deal with the mess that was him. So when Logan’s mother found him on the bathroom floor, barely conscious and in a pool of his own blood, no one had expected it.

Logan was forced to stay in hospital for three months after that. Physically he was fine, merely left with deep scars marking the insides of his wrists. But mentally, Logan wasn’t okay. He was forced to take his medication, made to attend counselling and managed to tell his therapist everything. It took a long time, what with his lack of communication, but eventually, they understood the reasoning behind it and Logan began to recover.

He finished the school year in between his home and the hospital, Mason bringing the work home to him and helping him set up his online classes. Logan managed to graduate with a respectable grade. He wanted to pursue college, wanted to take his art further and make a career out of it. His parents were terrified to let Logan travel so far away. But they understood and after a lengthy conversation and the promise he would keep in contact with them, Logan was off.

He flew to New York City to study Fine Art and Illustration. It was a new sense of freedom for him. He still wasn’t okay, but he made sure he took his medication and stuck to a strict schedule for himself. It helped him focus and Logan was able to enjoy himself, even make a couple of friends and get a job as a barista in a local coffee shop. It was in this coffee shop that he met the person who changed his life.

Matthew was a kind and caring man at first glance. He didn’t let Logan’s lack of speech bother him, continuing to visit the younger man every day with a bouquet of flowers until Logan agreed to go on a date. Things started off well - Matthew was patient with Logan’s difficulty communicating and he made him laugh. Logan thought he could actually be happy and was excited when after a few short months, Matthew asked him to move in with him.

But that was when things began to take a turn for the worst. Matthew seemed to lose the patience he had before. He grew frustrated at Logan’s inability to speak and would fly into a fit of rage more often than not. The first time he hit him was one of the worst. Logan told himself he’d leave him, he wouldn’t let himself be pushed around like this. But Matthew had broken down, told Logan he needed help and said he wouldn’t be able to survive without him. He told Logan he’d been suicidal in the past and he would die if Logan left. So Logan stayed, forgave Matthew each and every time he was hit, when he was shoved or when he was beaten. Matthew told him this was what he deserved and Logan started to believe it. The bruises were always carefully hidden and Logan accepted that this was what his life would be. He was afraid no one would believe him if he told the truth so he kept quiet. Even after he finished his degree, he stayed with his boyfriend. Months turned into years and still, Logan was too afraid to leave.

The sixth time he was hospitalised from his injuries was the breaking point. But it also provided Logan with a way out. Matthew was arrested and Logan discharged himself from the hospital before he recovered fully and ran. He managed to scrape some money together and left the city, travelling as far as he could.

He settled in Somerton, Maine, a town he’d heard about often growing up. No one knew him there and he’d be able to start again, that was the main thing. He was still terrified Matthew would find him, especially as Logan fled without giving a statement against him. But he settled into life, got a job at the local bakery and kept his head down. It was just him and his faithful Ella now, his service dog. She kept him grounded and he knew he owed a lot t her presence. The residents of Somerton were nice and didn’t ask too many questions, for which he was grateful. Now all he had to do was hope he stayed safe.

New Orleans was all Lowell had ever known. Aside from only a few out of state vacations, the city had always been home. And honestly, growing up in Nola meant Lowell got the best of the both worlds: big city living with a small town feel thanks to the neighborhoods and wards of Nola. Families on their street were friendly and nosy, and honestly Lowell’s mom, Birdie, didn’t mind at all because one, she had nothing to hide, and two, was more than happy that when other people learned of her situation -- a widowed and working single mom -- they were more than willing to help out. Which was how instead of becoming a latchkey kid, between after school hours and school vacation, Lowell became a surrogate member of more than a few neighboring families. And while Birdie wished she had been able to make it home from the hospital for more dinners, she was always home in time to sit down at the kitchen table and help Lowell struggle through his assigned school work.

The story was always the same each new school year, with every parent-teacher conference and IEP meeting. Lowell was always a pleasure to have in class, but he was either struggling with math or reading comprehension or his overall attention was lacking. But while Lowell and the general classroom weren’t on the best of terms, he excelled in other areas. Given his size and the fact that he towered over most of his classmates, it wasn’t shocking when the gym teacher had glowing remarks and commented that Lowell’s abilities were well beyond his years, but Birdie was surprised to learn from the music teacher that her son was both attentive and eager to learn in her class, too. After informing Lowell that participation in extracurriculars was dependent upon remaining in good academic standing, sports and music became an award system of sorts. It also didn’t hurt that burning through energy on the field or court, or banging it out with his drums meant that Lowell was less inclined to take out his frustrations of not understanding a word problem or summary question on a kitchen chair or wall.

The summer before eighth grade Lowell started to notice that his mom was coming home early from shifts now and again, getting gussied up, and leaving him with instructions for cooking frozen pizza or bagel bites while she went out. She was always home in time to look over homework and make sure Lowell was in bed on time, so Lowell never wondered too hard about it. Until the day she came home and said they’d be having a guest for dinner. Lowell met whom would become his step-dad that night. Two weeks later he met whom would become his step-sister. And before the start of the new school year, but after a small ceremony in the backyard, the new family had packed up all their belongings to move nearly 2000 miles up north. Chuck, an anesthesiologist,  had a new job at Kane-Russell Memorial in Somerton, and there was no doubt that he could pull strings and get Birdie on the RN rotation there, too.

While having a new family should have been the biggest change in Lowell’s life, everything about Maine was so different from Louisiana. Somedays it felt like Lowell was waking up in a whole new country, especially with his accent and missing his favorite local foods. But eventually school started and Lowell fell back into familiar routines of sports, music, and school work, and soon enough it wasn’t so scary putting roots down in a new place with a new family.

By the time Lowell graduated high school he had a scholarship for Somerton U. Even though he could have lived at home, he lived on-campus to have the full college experience, which also included playing as 4-year starter Seahorse on the basketball team. Lowell might have graduated with a social sciences degree, but after their team bus came upon an accident one winter night and Lowell witnessed firsthand everything the emergency response squads were doing to not only save people, but just to calm their nerves, he sort of felt like maybe he had a found something that could be a good fit for him. Lowell was already working towards his EMT certification when he graduated, and after moving back home began to apply to the Somerton firehouse. Lowell’s been part of the Somerton Fire, Rescue, and EMT Services family for ten years now and loves that every day is a bit of a new adventure. When he’s not working, Lowell’s playing drums in a cover band that sometimes performs at On the Rocks or hanging out with dog, Gus.
