We had our Sunday all planned out last night. ⁣ ⁣ We would get some extra sleep as it’s our last full recovery day before #IMTexas703 in 7 days.⁣ ⁣ Finish food prepping for the short week ahead.⁣ ⁣ Enjoy some downtime with our son. With all the training we do he spends his weekends without us so this afternoon was blocked off for him so we could take him to see Captain Marvel.⁣ ⁣ Then we get a tearful call from our daughter last night... between a tough week of classes and exams, planning her summer internship to Germany, researching graduate schools, preparing for the GRE in a few weeks, looking for a new place to live in the fall... it was just too much. My heart broke for her. 💔 She’s so independent and rarely asks for anything. Today she needed her parents.⁣ ⁣ Of course, we dropped everything and headed out to be with her. Too short but a great visit with our sweet young lady. Times like this we are beyond grateful that she’s only 90 minutes away.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes in life we have to adjust our todo list and just be present with our kids. ⁣💚 ⁣ We made it back home in time to have our time with our son. Everything else can wait.⁣ ⁣ #housedivided #myminime #momlife #ironmantraining #texasparents #physicsiscool #ourcrazylife #marriedlife #proudparents #aggieparents #thebestofbothofus #texaslonghorns (at The University of Texas at Austin) https://www.instagram.com/myraschwartz.plantpowered/p/BvshtCyj02z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=emcoruvh3yy5

15 Hours before it was Due... The Gearbox Motor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Due to not having the ability to use big gears on the interior of our windmill, we decided to purchase a gearbox motor. This allowed us to slow down the motor, by working up from small gears to bigger ones. Without the gears, the game would have been virtually impossible as the targets would move at incredibly fast rates. It took a while to assemble as all the instruction were in Japanese, but there were many skills learned through the process. Overall a fun job to do, but the time was slowly creeping up on us and we started to get our project moving at a faster pace.

A simple experiment showcasing The direction of magnetic field lines represented by iron filings sprinkled on paper placed above a bar magnet. Field lines can be used as a qualitative tool to visualize magnetic forces. In ferromagneticsubstances like iron and in plasmas, magnetic forces can be understood by imagining that the field lines exert a tension, (like a rubber band) along their length, and a pressure perpendicular to their length on neighboring field lines. "Unlike" poles of magnets attract because they are linked by many field lines; "like" poles repel because their field lines do not meet, but run parallel, pushing on each other. The rigorous form of this concept is the electromagnetic stress–energy tensor. . Video credits : @daily_physics_experiment . Creativity !(07.10.19)
Honestly speaking, Physics is often a boring subject. Calculating velocities? Such boredom! Yet there are certain cool things that it allows us to accomplish. And this time I mean it quite literally 🙂 When I went to my school’s Physics Club, we learned how to make a new kind of fridge! Apparently, it’s possible to keep things cool by using magnets. Wild, isn’t it? For me it was quite a bit mind-blowing. But how does it all work? To put it into proper words: “The system makes use of the magnetocaloric effect, where materials change temperature when exposed to a magnetic field, and a water coolant relays the resulting cool air to the interior of the unit”. So basically what happens is that a special kind of liquid gets cooled by the magnets and then it transfers the “coolness” to other stuff. This is a real breakthrough that will help us to be more eco-friendly!
Together with some other guys, we were able to build this whole thing almost from scratch. As you can see in the pictures, it isn’t really a complex mechanism at all. When I first heard what we were supposed to do, I felt a bit ambivalent. On the one hand, it was fascinating to me. Yet on the other hand, I was rather afraid that my construction skills weren’t quite up to snuff yet. This was foolish of me! The whole thing went quick and smooth. In no time we had a working magnetic fridge. This was a truly great experience!

Follow us:-@_colourful_chemistry . Chemistry is the study of matter and energy and the interactions between them. This is also the definition for physics, by the way. Chemistry and physics are specializations of physical science. Chemistry tends to focus on the properties of substances and the interactions between different types of matter, particularly reactions that involve electrons. Physics tends to focus more on the nuclear part of the atom, as well as the subatomic realm. Really, they are two sides of the same coin. Physics tends to focus more on the nuclear part of the atom, as well as the subatomic realm. Really, they are two sides of the same coin. The formal definition of chemistry is probably what you want to use if you're asked this question on a test. You may also need to practice basic chemistry concepts with a quiz. Why Study Chemistry? Because understanding chemistry helps you to understand the world around you. Cooking is chemistry. Everything you can touch or taste or smell is a chemical. When you study chemistry, you come to understand a bit about how things work. Chemistry isn't secret knowledge, useless to anyone but a scientist. It's the explanation for everyday things, like why laundry detergent works better in hot water or how baking soda works or why not all pain relievers work equally well on a headache. If you know some chemistry, you can make educated choices about everyday products that you use.
