I am of the opinion that Placidusax’s lightning nuke attack doesn’t do nearly enough damage.
I think it should be able to one shot you no matter how much HP you have or how much you stack resistances.
It’s got a long ass telegraph and looks cool as fuck, if any move in Elden Ring deserves to one shot you it’s this one.

INKTOBER 30 - Dragonlord Placidusax, Elden Ring
The Dragonlord whose seat lies at the heart of the storm beyond time is said to have been Elden Lord in the age before the Erdtree. Once his god was fled, the lord continued to await its return.

Tried to sort remembrances based on their color palette and the result is quite... interesting
Both Elden Beast and Maliketh have much lighter hue of gold than demigods. I assume that rich gold of demigods and Fortisaxx remembrances means that they belong to the age of the Erdtree/Golden Order. What’s the deal with Elden Beast and Maliketh then? Is it because they are beasts created by Two Fingers and The Greater Will?
(I can’t find original comment, but someone on Youtube pointed out that the spells Radagon casts with his left shadow hand have a yellow-gold color, but what comes from Marika’s hammer has desaturated whitish gold)
The color of Placidusax remembrance is most likely related to the Crucible, the previous incarnation of the Order: red tint exemplifies the nature of primordial gold, said to be close in nature to life itself. The Union between dragons and Golden Order became possible because both factions formally belonged to the Elden Ring (Greater Will), but I’m curious why Omens and Misbegotten were cast aside, but dragons were worshipped in Leyndell with a help of Godwyn
Rennala and Astel are obviously connected to the Stars and Moons, but Astel is a bastard of the void if I go with Japanese literal translation, while Rennala is a champion of the Full Moon. This situation reminds me of heretical belief of some Raya Lucaria scholars:
Scholars of the Lazuli Conspectus study Carian sorceries—a heterodox pursuit that views the moon as equal to the stars.
Fire Giant is bright red, can’t say anything about it other than I tired of all Radagon is part giant theories
Regal Ancestor Spirit has its unique turquoise color, descriptions related to it are rather intriguing.
Ancestral spirits exist as a phenomenon beyond the purview of the Erdtree. Life sprouts from death, as it does from birth. Such is the way of the living.
A number of new growths bud from the antler-like horns of the fallen king, each glowing with light. Thus does new life grow from death, and from death, one obtains power.
How old is Ancestral worship? Can Godwyn be affected by the power of ancestral worship, looking how his corpses are mutated in the pieces of different living creatures?

Elden Ring Spoilers
Thoughts about the Final Boss & Marika, theory about Malenia, and thoughts about Placidusax

One implication I love about the design of Marika and the Elden Beast is that Marika’s appearance when you reach her is foreshadowing to a literal attack the Elden Beast has, the one where it binds you the same way as her and impales you with a bunch of spears of light
Along with that is the implication that the 2 actually did fight, because not only is Marika broken but the Elden Beast has a scar on its chest when you fight it, and the only person who had access to it and wanted to fight it was Marika(Radagon did not want to fight it so I doubt he did).
The presence of an insignia of an older and more detailed Elden Ring in Farum Azula really drives in the fact that despite the Golden Order and Marika being intertwined, they are not necessarily needed for the Elden Ring, as before them was Placidussax the Elden Lord and His God, who left the Lands Between and possibly went to Demon’s Souls depending how unhinged Miyazaki wants to be
Also I know I’ve said it before but the possibility of the Greater Will being a sort of parasite in the Lands Between is still a possibility to me. Parasitism is a theme throughout the game with Godwyn infecting the Erdtree, and the Rot and its festering pests spreading throughout Caelid. The Greater Will is an Outer God the same as the Formless Mother and the Rot Goddess, with the only difference being that it got to the Lands Between first and drove out every single being that could challenge it
A small theory I have is that Melina is similar to Malenia in that she is connected to another God. But unlike Malenia, I believe she’s connected to the fell god of the giants, or at least their forge. It’s said that she is the Kindling Maiden in the Blade of Calling description, which implies a definite connection to fire. Along with that, her body is visibly burnt, meaning that she either had been burnt at some point or she is constantly burning, her body being in a constant state similar to her siblings, Miquella(constant state of youth) and Malenia(constant state of rot). Her Frenzied Flame Ending though makes me think she had one of two outcomes. If she burns then she fulfills her purpose and sends the Tarnished who succeeded to Destined Death, but if she doesn’t burn and the Erdtree does, she will make contact with Death either way, and take a piece to give to the Lord of Frenzied Flame. But that’s mainly all just speculation on my part

Been checking out Elden Ring and it looks pretty dope. The open-worldness gives an endless array of storytelling options and man, the real sell of this game is the lore. The deep lore surrounding each boss, each character, even subtle details that have so much plot-relevance in them, mmm peak worldbuilding. Zullie the Witch on YT is a great rabbit hole to fall into with their deep analysis of all sorts of game details and even an in-depth look into the behind-the scenes stuff that may even reveal some scrapped details that show what could habe been.
By far my favorite boss in the game has got to be Dragonlord Placidusax: he's best summed up as "what if King Ghidorah was a Sith Lord with Force lightning". Especially memorable since when you find him he's basically a walking fossil. He's been torn apart, his skin has turned to stone, his hair is loose and scraggly, he's missing chunks off his body like his rear wings and tail and most notably three neck stumps dangle from his body, implying he once had FIVE heads and by the time you encounter him he's down to two.
And yet, he's still ABSURDLY powerful.
From his rain of red lightning to his claw attack to his vanishing into the air and the golden flame breath that condenses into a focused beam a la Shin Godzilla, he's one of the hardest bosses and is absolutely relentless. And this is after he's been gravely wounded and maimed and weathered by time and reduced to a shell of his former self. This seems to be a recurring theme in Elden Ring: the enemies you fight are broken husks of what they used to be, like Rennala being once a powerful sorceress but is now reduced to a PTSD-stricken wreck obsessed with an egg, or the Fire Giant with a crippled leg who is the last of his kind. Though I feel Placidusax embodies this theme greatest: just how powerful was he at his strongest? And exactly what did that to him to put him into such a sorry state?
Thought I'd try drawing my take on what Placidusax might have looked like in his prime. Could you just imagine a DLC involving time travel where in the "space outside of time" you can encounter and battle a five-headed, four-winged, fully-intact Placidusax in the height of his power? IMAGINE THE FIVE-HEADED LASER BEAM ATTACK. Please make it happen, FromSoftware.

Azula Beastman Ashes
Tumblr media
Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirits of two Azula beastmen.
Spirits of beastmen from doomed Farum Azula, the slowly crumbling ruins in the skies. These ruins are said to be the remains of a giant mausoleum enshrining an ancient dragon, guarded by chosen beastmen who wield weapons clad in lightning.
