Met up with PRISON AFFAIR from Spain yesterday. This has been something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time now, they are one of the coolest bands doing it right now. The video for “BEDTIME” is one of the best music videos ever. They played a bunch of songs (and I think a few unreleased), but I didn’t get to write it down because we had to go unload the van.

Snõõper is playing the next two nights with PA and Sick Thoughts, from NOLA. We’re playing in Atlanta tonight (4 June) at the Masquerade, and then tomorrow (5 June) in Nashville at Soft Junk. Show out and support!

MJ Lenderman Live at Market Hotel

This is it, folks – the good stuff.

My friend Scott saw this show, and he was telling me about it a few days later. Rumor had it that they played for an hour and a half. I couldn't believe that until this popped up on YouTube a few months back. It's ninety minutes of HEAT.

MJ Lenderman and the Wind are on fire on this boot. "SUV" is ablaze – they sound energetic, you can feel them pouring their energy into it, like they have no other choice but to. I love it when MJ gets loud as hell. "Knockin" too, seeing that live in Athens a few months ago was such a standout.

The unreleased "Wristwatch" is another highlight. I can't wait to hear what the fully realized version studio version sounds like because this one is already so captivating – it sounds like an MJ song but it doesn't sound like a Boat Songs track. Maybe a future release?

I'll bet it felt like magic in that room during "Under Control". Hearing the whole crowd singing along was such an incredible feeling when I heard this for the first time and it felt like listening to that Alex Chilton live record "Electricity by Candlelight". Being able to hear the crowd makes the live record so much better, and especially the onstage banter between the band and between the band and crowd.
