Jorge Luis Borges sosteneva che gli antichi greci furono i primi a pensare, ci hanno dato la poesia, la scienza, la filosofia razionale, che tutta la cultura a noi pervenuta nel corso dei secoli derivi dai greci.

I filosofi greci distinguevano l’amore in 12 tipologie diverse a seconda delle diverse emozioni umane e sfumature del sentimento:

Agape (αγάπη)

Agape è l’amore incondizionato, anche non ricambiato. Va al di là delle forze umane, è un amore puro e senza alcuna aspettativa. Viene utilizzato nei vangeli e nella religione.

Eros (έρως)

Eros è la tipologia di amore più conosciuta. Dio greco della fertilità, il suo tipo di amore rappresenta quello passionale, il desiderio carnale. Veniva definito in termini di irrazionalità, perché il desiderio ardente avrebbe potuto portare alla follia.

Philia (φιλία)

Philia indica un tipo di amicizia profonda. Amicizia come vincolo di fiducia e lealtà, come fondamenta di un rapporto solido e suggellato dalla bellezza della condivisione. Amare ed essere amati.

Storge (στοργή)

Storge è l’amore nei confronti della famiglia o dei parenti, tipico dei consanguinei, deriva da “stergo” che significa amare teneramente.

Philautia (φιλαυτία)

Philautia è l’amore per sé stessi, l’amor proprio, fonte di perfezionamento e benevolenza è definito come forma di egoismo positivo.

Mania (μανία)

Mania associato all’amore è il desiderio incondizionato di amare e possedere, l’amore tossico che vive (apparentemente) solo attraverso il possesso di ciò che brama, il partner come oggetto del desiderio. Distruttivo.

Charis (χάρις)

Charis è forse la tipologia d’amore più ambita tanto quanto appagante: idilliaco. Entrambi i partner si amano allo stesso modo, sia fisicamente che spiritualmente.

Himeros (ἵμερος)

Himeros è l’amore che arde di desiderio fisico, impulsivo, irrefrenabile, l’amore folle. Desiderio carnale, non ascolta ragioni e va appagato nell’immediato.

Anteros (αντέρως)

Anteros, fratello di Eros (si narra fossero inseparabili) è l’amore corrisposto con il rispettivo coniuge/compagno e indica la stabilità sentimentale.

Pragma (πρᾶγμα)

Pragma è associato all’amore maturo di lunga data, ma anche al compromesso e alla pazienza. Fare uno sforzo per dare amore piuttosto che solo per riceverlo.

Pothos (Πόθος)

Pothos è la personificazione del rimpianto e del senso di nostalgia che si prova quando una persona amata è lontana. È anche identificato con l’amore adolescenziale, l’infatuazione, il desiderio prima dell’incontro.

Thelema (θέλημα)

Thelema è l’amore nei confronti di ciò che si fa, il proprio lavoro, il piacere di fare qualcosa, il desiderio voler fare e non è rivolto quindi ad una persona.

tai deciding shauna is the only problem ruining their lives is so funny and hypocritical, and not just bc she spent most of this season trying to sacrifice innocent strangers to save van and in the late s3 eps teen taissa sided with shauna and lottie to keep the team out in the wilderness and was willing to kill hannah if not mari. (or even just bc they're all at fault for natalie's death with shauna calling for the hunt and taivan calling off the pysch hold for lottie while doing nothing to actually help her that night or after) no, adult tai has always been neck and neck with adult shauna doing the Most, as the two Most Dangerous, Most Bad at Wifeness and Motherhood, Most In Denial and Most Deceitful. let's not forget tai broke the team's pact first by running for public office and sending jessica to interrogate her old friends, not trusting them not to betray her somehow (distrust and suspicion of people who didn't deserve it, sound famaliar?) then lying to shauna's face about not knowing jessica. shauna's betrayal by leaving evidence around was sloppier and she did frame adam post-death to get the others to help cover up her and jeff's crimes, but i still don't think taissa has much room to judge there. shauna had a risky affair through the cover of a fictitous book club so she could feel like a wild teenager again, while taissa lied to simone about being willing to drop out of her state senate race, proving that she cared more for her ambition than her own or her son's mental health. the fact that she has an alterego who can be blamed for beheading the family dog does a lot of work making her look less bad than shauna, tho admittedly shauna does keep pulling ahead in other ways. tai drove her wife away and then abandoned her in the hospital in a coma she caused not checking in on her son again for all of s2, but shauna was not only still lying to her husband if not still cheating (bc she killed her sidepiece), she also made her daughter an accessory after the fact to murder and then told callie she should have just fucked Officer Pornstache. taissa accidentally caused a waiter's death through dining and dashing, but shauna had already tried to fight off a carjacker with his gun and then tracked her van to a chop shop where she was excited by the chance to shoot the guy there just for the hell of it. tai brought her lover along to visit her estranged wife and son for the first time since putting simone in a coma, but shauna had already outdone her by fucking her sidepiece in her family home while her family still lived there, actually fucking him in the bed she still shared with her (as yet) unestranged husband. shauna told the taylors she didn't even like callie and taissa needed van to remind her that she was still legally married. taissa cut out her dead gf's heart and chomped on it still warm as a gesture of love, after shauna had already bit off a chunk of her fakedead ex-gf's arm and tried to force auto-cannibalism on her as a gesture of hate. oh, but the reason shauna's still not too far ahead? misty had accused both of them, not just shauna, of lottie's murder one right after the other. and at the time taissa felt like the more likely suspect!

I love a vain Walter.

I love a Walter obsessed with his own character and accomplishment. As a teen, it was to be perceived as an adult, as strong, capable, independent, and simply better. As a young adult, it was to be charming, effective, untouchable and a monolith of skill, it was to actively, always be better. This is where the panic of becoming asinine started. As an adult, it was perfection, never second best, go above and beyond, be posh, precise, poised, it was to never be anything but the best.

I love a Walter obsessed with his looks. Clothing pressed, never spotted with a wrinkle, impeccable posture, never stumbling. Even covered in blood or suffering an injury— there is no room for error. Loose long hair isn’t the problem here, it’s being unkept. Being perceived as beastly or anything less than something, anything akin to the vermin he kills or the unpredictable nature of Alucard. He’s better than that.

I love a Walter obsessed with coming across as normal. Sure, he has his moments where his adeptness at brutality shines through but he does it with class. He has his fun but he can always rein it in. He isn’t needlessly messy like Alucard. He isn’t troublesome like Arthur. He isn’t as careless as the average soldier. All of his missions are for a purpose, all of his kills are precise, he is not tethered to failure or irritability or barbarism. He isn’t Alucard. He’s better.

I love a Walter who never appears vain. He is the first to demean himself, the first to take a step back, the first to simply be the butler. He is grateful for his education, his skills, his position. He never turns down a helpful, gracious hand and if he does, it’s for their good. Not his. He doesn’t need their help, he’s too proud deep down. Even in age, he doesn’t need help.

I love a Walter who is vain and covers it up with humility.
