Hey srry if this is a bad question 😅 but I really like your work and have been keeping up with your AO3 for the past while and it hasn’t been updated in a bit if you aren’t continuing any of those fics that’s fine I just wanted to my sure my old phone wasn’t going out or smth. I really love the way you can write something so perfect without any sort of mediocrity 💕

It’s not a bad question! I’ve just unfortunately been busy and struggling some with a writer’s block :( I’ve basically checked out of writing my oldest WIP and tbh, Silver Soul is in essence abandoned (sorry), I just haven’t edited the description on Ao3 to reflect that yet.

Like usual, I put wayyyyyy too much on my plate and am now reaping what I sewed 😅 However, I haven’t abandoned Call It Fate/the robot Ghost AU, I’m just highly considering revamping it and have been slowly trying to figure that all out. I’m determined to finish I’ll Take A Quiet Life/the permanent mask AU and my unpublished WIP for the brainwashed dog Soap AU, though!!

I've been going through the different Jumpstart sets and the set-based Jumpstart boosters, and it's really made me have a greater appreciation for the set-based ones. Sure, the Dominaria United, The Brothers War, All Will Be One, and March of the Machines ones are in no way, shape, or form good enough to package and market as if you're gonna play interesting games with just one of them. They are just way too same-y for that. Yet as supplementals to Jumpstart and Jumpstart 2022 or even when played with two from different sets? They are really cool. DMU is especially cool cause its green theme is domain, so its play pattern ends up feeling really novel and compelling for a game mode like Jumpstart. Yet the other ones also have some really compelling design to their pack contents. That is, with one exception. The MOM Jumpstart boosters are truly terrible. At least with the others, there is a little variety between packs. Sure, each color only has two themes, and those two themes come with several of the same cards. Yet they tend to have far more differences between them than you'd expect, making their play patterns unique (if only just). Yet for the MOM boosters, there is only a 3 card different between the two booster lists per color (not considering the random rare that comes with each pack, which often becomes either the best card in the deck or is so bad that it makes the deck actively worse with its inclusion). Worse still, the MOM boosters don't even touch the set's big mechanical change to Magic. Not a single one of them come with any battles, nor can the random rare or mythic rare be a battle (at least as far as I can tell). Now, the lack of battles is somewhat understandable given their inclusion would likely slow down gameplay of an already kinda sluggish game mode. But the fact that not a single one of the booster themes at least try to have a battle theme or at least allow the boosters to have a random rare battle in their color is really frustrating. Like, not to be a broken record, but Dominaria United Jumpstart had DOMAIN as its theme for green! There was a willingness to experiment with the format of Jumpstart in order to include something that was mechanically relevant to the set the boosters were based around, and that's cool as hell! Yet for the MOM boosters, they couldn't even be bothered to include one battle just to see what impact it might have. And with how boring the booster lists are, it seems that philosophy of laziness permeated the whole of the product's design.

It was apparently a running joke that Bernard gets his romantic advances and flirtations from media, what with the whole B necklace given to Tim. And I was thinking that romance novels and movies/shows were probably the only actual portrayals of romance that he was exposed to because his parents weren't exactly lovey dovey and quite frankly they seem like they don't want to be together at all.

This is something that I personally experience actually, so maybe it's a little bit of projection speaking here. But either way I wanted to think about Bernard seeing things in a romantic subtext in full for the first time and it jumpstarting him reading romance novel after romance novel to get a glimpse of what love is supposed to be, how others see it and show it. So now he has a very.... special way of communicating his adoration for people. Like the freak he is (the theatre electives didn't help any either, I'm sure.)

Bernard: "Do you ever think about how the curve of your neck and the dip of your collar bone is moulded perfectly for the sole intent of cradling the head of another?"

Tim: "Is this your way of asking for cuddles?"

Bernard, already making grabbing hands: "Absolutely. Come here."

Tim: "Sunbear, we are not taking that rabies-infested raccoon you found in a dumpster behind the bar home to my houseboat and your apartment doesn't allow animals. It was frothing at the mouth, Bernard."

Tim, rolling his eyes fondly: "If you do, I won't catch you."

Bernard: "Nevermind fuck you actually."

Bernard: "Shh, let me finish! I was just wondering how you would taste. What would you prefer to be seasoned with? I'd personally like to be flavoured with honey-glaze, or maybe lemon pepper? Garlic?"

Tim: "Well since humans taste like swine, I supposed there'd need to be a complementary flavour profile. You'd be sweet, and I'd be something distinctly Umami, so I'd settle for smoked or roasted? With paprika."

Bernard: "I love you so much."

Bernard, spoken off-handedly while grocery shopping: "If ever you were to die, I'd harden your heart into stone with calcium and keep it in a case so that I carry you with me always."

Tim, staring longingly at a 30pk case of Monster: "And where is this coming from?"

Bernard: "My mom once read me Mary Shelly's biography as a bedtime story over the course of a week. She carried her husband's heart in her purse after his passing when he drowned in the ocean and his heart didn't turn to ash after his cremation so she snatched it out."

Tim: "Beatrice, frankly, scares me. And I love you too, darling."

Bernard, lying in bed next to Tim and staring at him:

Tim, sighing and rolling over to face him: "Honeybear?"

Bernard, fidgeting with a pillow: "Being near you is like being in a vacuum."

Tim: "That's a new one. Do you want to elaborate?"

Bernard: "It feels like I'm drowning in everything and nothing and like my chest is caving in. It makes me feel heavy and light, it feels like a contradiction. Loving you hurts in a way I'm not used to hurting. It doesn't feel like sacrifice. It makes me feel safe. I don't know if I'm saying this right, it's hard to articulate."

Tim, pulling Bernard close and pressing his nose into his hair: "I know, I understand, Bear. Intrinsically. I love you too."

I want to learn more about circuitbreaker they're so cute!

Aaaa thank you!!! I’m not sure what you wanna know specifically but here’s a basic rundown!

CircuitBreaker, who more commonly goes by just Circuit, is my fankid OC between Sabotage (my other oc) and Thundercracker!

They use they/them pronouns, and were born at around the mid point of the war.

Circuit is an outlier with electrical capabilities. They can generate and discharge electricity which they use for their scientific endeavors. They specialize in weaponry, ship maintenance, and general machinery.

After the war, Circuit decides to pursue their love for science by boarding the Lost Light and doing an apprenticeship under Perceptor (and by extension Brainstorm). They get plenty of support from their parents, even if they aren’t necessarily keen on them ‘leaving the nest so soon’. Thundercracker would’ve much preferred if they stayed on Cybertron and mentored under someone else, but understands the wanderlust.

They’re blunt, monotone, straight to the point, and can come across as cold. Ironically, despite all this, Circuit is a certified yapper. Mostly talking about their projects. They actually do enjoy people, even if dumb ppl drive them nuts, but because of their general vibe, and being a much younger mech in comparison to others, they don’t tend to have a lot of friends. Circuit tends to be a bit of a stickler for rules, and only tends to sway if there’s something they can benefit from.

Circuit’s electrical outlier ability is used pretty frequently by them, whether it be jumpstarting a generator or using it to power small (rarely large) machinery. Their outlier ability is not without its flaws. It takes a lot of energy, and will result in exhaustion when used execessively. It also creates a pretty strong appetite, making them particularly easily the wavered by snacks. (Their favorite being energon sticks)

Circuit is pretty close with both their parents. Although has some repressed issues with Thundercracker they need to work through. But by nature they’re kind of the opposite of an open book. So the only people who really know about those issues are them and their parents.

Other than that, they’re mostly just a silly scientist on a silly ship.

Weird Egg?

Okay so in theory, Obi-Wan was plausibly on Mandalore when Anakin was born, right?

(this is technically a variation on a few other fics and AUs I've seen, and I'll list the stuff that came to mind at the end.)

While on Mandalore, Obi-Wan finds An Egg while hiding in a cave with Satine. And he doesn't recognize it, and Satine doesn't recognize it, and even Qui-Gon doesn't recognize it.

Which makes it weird, at the very least, and probably rare. It's the size of his HEAD and even though there's no parent around, the egg is… warm, now? He didn't notice at first, but it's definitely producing at least some of its own heat.

So Obi-Wan brings the egg with him, which is a pain in the ass in terms of maneuvering, but they do seem to have better luck avoiding Death Watch than before, which uh. Given that the egg feels warmer when they're getting lucky, and seems to glow in the Force, they think might not be a coincidence. A lucky rock, except it's alive.

Mission ends. Obi-Wan plans to take the egg back to the temple for study in case they just discovered Something, and as he's saying goodbye to Satine… the egg Hatches.

It is a dragon.

The dragon can project words into Obi-Wan's mind. It's not quite capable of complex thoughts yet, but it's a he (probably), and has a name (Anakin!), and considers the person who's been carrying him and protecting him and keeping him warm for the past six months to be his mom!

Obi-Wan protests at this. Qui-Gon decides to make his life harder with the 'correction' that Obi-Wan would be a dad, not a mom.

So now Obi-Wan has a small dragon which will be growing to the size of a house, that imprinted on him and is following him home and calling him dad and insisting on sleeping in his bed

Idk if you've ever read Septimus Heap, but… the MC of that found a Fancy Rock, put it in his bag, carried it around for a YEAR because he kept forgetting to take it out of his bag, and then it hatched into a dragon. And I kept thinking about that the whole time I wrote this.

In Obi-Wan's defense, he does Have A Plan.

Until the dragon hatches, turns out to be a sapient as a toddler (with promise of growth), and calls him Dad.

And now the plan is gone.

He just wanted to bring a cool egg back to the Temple for study!

And now the Mandalorians are pulling out old books about whatever the fuck this is because these things APPARENTLY went extinct around the same time as the underwater dragon-adjacent thing that is the Mythosaur.

Obi-Wan learns that supposedly the eggs are inert until something with the Force interacts with it in a Purposeful Manner.

Which includes "probing it a little to see if whatever is inside is actually alive."

Anakin's a standard western dragon that can breathe fire because Flyte. Also this post.

Obviously, first up is the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage, specifically Magyk and Flyte.

The fic series I was thinking of initially that kind of jumpstarted the AU process was Boga Service Varactyl AU, but specifically Kenobi Kafé Service Animal Boga AU.

I've been seeing a couple of dragon shapeshifter AUs, including that post I linked earlier from @ahsoka-in-a-hood, @bubblew0lf1's dragon shapeshifter AU, and @squad-724's Dragon Jedi AU has been all over my dash for the past few days.

Stubborn to the Bones by @tideswept, which was part of what had me connecting the various dots of Obi-Wan Finding Animal Anakin on a mission, though our outcomes are admittedly very different lol. (Their fic is shippy, and mine is more decidedly gen/familial with a slight nod to Obitine.)
