The Importance of Project Milestones
Have you ever been part of a project where the final result turned out drastically different from the initial plan? This often happens due to various delays in the project timeline, with issues usually surfacing only towards the end of the project. Managing these challenges is a critical and difficult aspect of project management. One of the most effective ways to address this issue is by setting project milestones, which are widely used to control project progress.
What is a Project Milestone?
A project milestone is a goal-oriented checkpoint that signifies the achievement of a specific project state. When a particular event occurs or a certain time is reached, the projects status undergoes a significant change, indicating substantial progress or the achievement of project objectives. Milestones generally mark the completion of a phase in the project. The type of milestones varies depending on the nature of the project.
Tumblr media
Setting milestones is crucial for keeping a project moving in the right direction. Milestones serve as checkpoints on the project timeline, helping to track progress and ensure the project stays on course.
Managing Milestones with a Project Management System
The 8Manage PM project management system allows businesses to easily create, track, and collaborate on all project milestones, ensuring nothing is overlooked during the management process. The system automatically alerts users to any abnormalities, helping companies maintain full control over project timelines.
Tumblr media
With the global view and real-time overview provided by the 8Manage PM system, project progress and activities can be tracked without the need for weekly or monthly reports. This enables early detection and resolution of issues. At each milestone, a summary of the preceding phase can be conducted to improve the next phase’s work.
The 8Manage PM system also supports linking a set of delivery milestones to one or more projects. Within the system, users can view and manage all resources, activities, dependencies, and deliverables associated with the project.
Final Thoughts
Project milestones are key events that define the success of a project. They not only help track progress but also serve as checkpoints that keep the team focused on overall objectives. To fully leverage milestones, it’s essential to have a well-organized and structured project plan.
Without milestones, it can be difficult for a business to gauge how well a project is progressing. As a project manager, it’s important to utilize a project management system to track the progress of tasks and milestones, ensuring everything is completed as planned. If issues arise, they can be promptly identified and addressed, rather than surfacing at the last minute. Controlled progress is the foundation for ensuring project quality.

It’s the most honest job Stan’s ever had.
Sure, the company he’s working for is downright diabolical, scamming their customers in all aspects of life, but that’s not Stan’s problem.
As Le Ville Corp’s most successful customer service agent in the Oregon area his only job is to follow the company guidelines, sell as many bad deals as possible and never ever let anyone back out of a contract.
Morality aside, nothing the company does is actually illegal, so at the end of the day Stan gets to collect his almost-minimum-wage-sized paycheck and go home in the knowledge, that no pigs will come knocking on his door anytime soon.
Life is good. Or at least as good as it gets where Stan is concerned. Last month he even got a raise for selling every bad product the company had to offer to one poor kind sucker.
From household appliances to car insurance, magazine subscriptions and even their extremely shitty telephone and electricity contracts - the McGucket guy brought it all.
Thanks to him, Stan could upgrade from his car to an almost black mold free one room appartment with a community bathroom one block over.
Stan was finally moving up in the world and then his phone rings. He recognises the number. It’s his good friend Fiddle-not-gonna-say-the-rest McGucket.
Stan grins and cracks his knuckles. It’s about time McGucket figured out he’s gotten scammed. Time to make the poor guy’s life a living hell. No one is getting out of a contract on his watch.
“Thank you for calling Le Ville Corp. For us you are more than just a customer. You are family! This is Piers. How can I help you today?”
The moment Stan starts his greeting, he is bombarded with noise disturbances from the other side.
Ah, the good old Le Ville Corp telephone network working as intended. Maybe Stan can convince the guy to upgrade to a slightly less egregious version.
Wait, what did he say?
His name is Dr. Stammered Lynes? Weird, but okay. Still better than Fiddle-nope-not-saying-it Hardon McGucket.
As it turns out, Stan finally met the mysterious roommate whose money McGucket has been using to pay for all of their products. Stan didn’t think the guy had it in him to ditch his roommate after the scam got discovered. Good for him!
Now, how to best screw Dr. Lynes here over.
***
An hour and a half of data security safety questions and a new phone contract later the doc hangs up to Stan’s cheery and corporate mandated farewell:
“And don’t forget we here at Le Ville Corp consider you our forever family, because you will stay with us forever!”
***
Stanford Pines just had the worst month of his life [not counting the weeks after the science fair that he refuses to think about].
The portal test was a disaster, his partner left, his muse refuses to explain himself and on top of all of that his new fridge won’t open, because this week’s subscription fee hasn’t been paid yet.
What the f-FIDDLEFORD!
#gravity falls#stanley pines#stanford pines#Stan’s full fake name is Piers Campfield#for various reasons. For 2. Two reasons.#Stan was quite surprised when he managed to sell all their household appliances to Fidds.#From what Stan understood the guy would be able to create his own from scratch in a heartbeat.#Turns out Fidds was quite intrigued by their innovative subscription system that connected all appliances to Le Ville Corp's private networ#Fidds thought it would be a fun side project to mess around with.#Ford is still in denial about Bill having betrayed him and being evil#so he rather spends his time arguing with his extremely frustrating customer service agent.#Or he would be arguing if he wasn’t forced to pass another security test every time he asks a question.#And then he has to spell everything out twice because “the connection is bad”#WHY IS THEIR TELEPHONE PROVIDER THE SAME AS HIS FRIDGE ONE???#Ford keeps finding more and more subscriptions#contracts and products regarding Le Ville Corp and keeps trying to give them back and/or cancel them but he only ends up upgrading his exis#Also…Ford’s money is running out.#If he ever meets “Piers” he’s gonna shoot him with his crossbow.#And yet Ford keeps calling Piers even after he realizes that Bill has betrayed him and that there are more important things he has to deal#He grows more paranoid#sleeps less#then not at all#but he still has Piers. His forever family. His family. Piers will help him. He has to.#So he explains everything to Piers and asks him to come and take his Journal as far away as he can.#Piers...agrees. That’s what being a forever family means!#Le Ville Corp doesn’t lie to their customers!#Stan should've never gotten attached. This was the best job he’s ever had#and now he’s throwing it all away to help a stranger he annoyed over the phone for weeks#just because he called Stan family.#This might be the dumbest thing he’s ever done.

Never getting over Fulcrum being a project manager...
Idk why, but something about that is so funny to me. Not just because the title of "project manager" is inherently kinda funny for a Decepticon, but also because-
1. It's vague sounding and hard to explain irl because it technically exists in multiple fields, like healthcare or manufacturing, which surely translates into canon in some way.
2. In canon, it's simultaneously a really mundane, innocuous sounding job, yet it's also a super morally awful position to reside over depending on the context. (*cough* forced colonization and cyberforming *cough*)
And 3. It solidifies the fact that behind all the surface level militaristic work we get with both the Decepticons and Autobots, there's also Cons and Bots with "normal" jobs in both factions.
Like, sure yeah we get scientists and doctors, engineers and programmers, but usually in big important or warfront positions. (For plot reasons, understandably.) But it's also really funny and interesting to think of those that worked background positions, or minor jobs.
Like an Autobot working in their equivalent of an HR department, or a Decepticon who runs one of their outpost's or starship's kitchens.
Just all the pre-war jobs that didn't just disappear with the war, but instead evolved to exist within the factions.
It's particularly funny with the Decepticons though, because it could be a super mundane job or situation, but because it's them, it has to have an air of ~e v i l~ to it, either legitimately and/or merely for the vibes, like Tarn's "performance reviews".
#theres this one comedy thing. a think its from that like. puppet comedian dude??? cant remember the name rn-#-buts theres a bit about a person in the crowd being a project manager and how silly the job sounds#at some point the person the project manager is with gets pointed out when the comedian asks smth along the lines of-#-''is he a project you're managing? he looks pretty managed to me.'' smth smth. thats fulcrum and the scavs to me#idw fulcrum#fulcrum#mtmte#tf idw#idw tarn#tarn#transformers#maccadam#Decepticons being cartoonishly evil while doing mundane shit will never not be funny to me#'i need to send an evil email to my evil boss about an evil supply chain issue involving my evil workers evil rations and evil mail'#<- fulcrum#sorry. yes he is a tragic yet simultaneously silly guy. but i will never not shut up about his stupid awful job#''he's a project manager!'' oh yay :D! ''he's overseeing the destruction and forced cyberformation of a whole planet'' ...what#not saying he deserved being turned into a bomb. but i think a solid uhh maybe 1000+ organics get a free chance to spit on him or smth#get his ass lmao. i swear hes one of my favs. its just he is objectively an asshole. and i must speak on it bcs i love him#sort of unrelated. but along the same vein of jobs and positions in the Decepticons. ive been trying to puzzle out Krok and Fulcrum's ranks#and. it might not be accurate. idk what sort of ranking system bullshit is going on in canon. so im going off what i know#but. im figuring krok was some sort of warrant-esque officer? aka. he was a general solider. who worked his way up through skill to NCO-#-then specialized in strategy to the point of becoming a warrant officer for strategy and studies. so. higher than NCO but lower than CO#so on the other hand. fulcrum is a CO. bcs he wasnt a solider. he was a technician. but also in advanced management. so. CO???#for irl comparison. NCO/Warrant = worked towards over time from low ranks. CO = fast tracked bcs of formal education or smth#(take the irl comparison with a grain of salt. im not an expert on that shit. i just considered becoming a CO bcs of pressure once)#((CO in this context stands for commissioned officer. not commanding officer btw. so. its like management shit))#(not that i think cons have commissions or anything. just using the terminology as a place holder or smth ig)#who outranks who is debatable bcs canon doesn't specify rank. but if going off this as a basis. fulc would outrank krok by a technicality#but. assumedly. battle experience is seen as more impressive and noteworthy to cons. so its more likely krok outranked fulc bcs of that

I actually don’t think Jopson would be a secretary/personal assistant in modern AUs, I think the perfect career for him would be case/care management. It keeps all the administrative, organizational skills that we see him use, but it also includes the care element that’s central to his character AND I think Jopson would excel at patient advocacy (he loves to fight for someone).

I hate how hard it is to come up with character names because how am I supposed to make character playlists that make me even more insane about my own OCs WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO PUT THEIR GOTDAMN NAMES IN THE PLAYLIST TITLE??!
#making romantic songs platonic is my specialty and visatori cu plumb in ochi by alternosfera and zid by om la luna are literally my latest#ocs. the martyr and the person who most cherishes them#bitches aren't even doomed by the narrative they just choose to doom themselves the moment they meet eyes in every universe without fail#they could be born in completely different solar systems and somehow they'll still find each other#they are not soulmates. the universe has not ordained this. they have perfectly good matches out there AND YET. every. single. fucking. time#they manage to drift together for a fraction of a second and latch onto eachother like baby sloths with separation anxiety. they make the#gods froth at the mouth. they have a liege-devoted knight relationship but they both believe themselves to be the knight. one is always#fated to die young and the other is fated to outlive everybody they care about. they kill each other in at least half the lives they lived#because they trust no one else to know their will better even though they do not remember any of their previous lives. they drive me nuts.#i have become the god of mysteries. he is me. stop killing yourself gayboy it automatically transfers ownership of the revolution to my#representative and she's scary! she's gonna take your plan and add a 20 year projection of ways to improve it! i need you to step up and#force her to make sensible decision PLEASE#anyways. this is part me rambling part me leaving myself a note to add this songs to a playlist that may or may not exist in the future#boo rambles

shoutout to people working their dream jobs doing something mundane
#i work in IT and can i be honest. i might complain about my work sometimes but ive never#gone to bed and been like ''man i dont want to go to work tomorrow''#or like. i have had thoughts similar to that but it's always because of something non work related#like rn im excited to go to work and see my co workers tomorrow morning#but also i wish i didnt have work so i could wake up to play monhun#or sometimes i wish i could just sleep in. but i never hate my job#i enjoy going there. i can make a living with it. actually as soon as i graduate i'll be earning pretty well#though most of that will be going to student loans for some years but it's still more than what my parents made combined when i was a kid#pre taxes for both of us. not taking inflation into account.#i know i complain about management and complain at work but i genuinely really like my job#its always been my dream to have a job i dont mind doing. and this is it.#im not saying id feel the same in any it job. but here i get to manage like a billion different systems and device types#and i get to do so much different things and theres always something new and fun going on and i get to be a part of making it happen#and its a very seasonal job so im not doing the same thing all around the year. spring is the busiest but i fucking love spring#both in general and at work#days go by fast bc theyre busy but theyre busy in like ah. how do i say it. in a way i dont have high brain power work#sure i need to know my shit but its easy shit#and then winter is always projects and v much using my brain and less my body#spring and summer some work days are workouts gdvxhdns#also during some weeks in the summer. i can go on a walk anytime and get ice cream or something on the clock#and using the excuse of saying im patroling our systems gdvxhsj#theres a lot to do but the work environment is chill#a lot of IT work is. sure paying way more but also complete hell. not for me.#what im doing rn is like. i would not mind retiring here.#im not surprised lots of ppl do like 40 year careers where i work#sure managements been kinda shit but things are changing rn#and i feel like theyre changing for the better#idk im just v happy rn!#spring is coming and i can feel it#i love spring theres so much new things happening

oh no, i established myself as Capable Of and Willing To Perform some minor annoying administrative tasks at work and now am being tossed additional requests to perform said tasks
i know that in a strict financial view it makes sense to spend 20 minutes of junior engineer time on mundane-annoying-task than 20 minutes of senior staff engineer time but have you considered: I Don't Like It
#something i am pondering whether it is wise or worthwhile to communicate#my internal terminology is 'I'll do it for a Scooby snack' 'this is a two Scooby snack request minimum“#this is not what i articulate externally. yet .#the upside is learning how to use a variety of different systems and making connections with more people#both in a human to human perspective and in a like#the downside is I'm Being Asked To Do Things That Are Annoying.#there's also a like. gendered aspect of this that rubs me the wrong way a little#in so many mech eng spaces I've seen a tendency for organizational/logistical/annoying work to be disproportionately uptaken by women#women (and bosch) (trans)#getting clocked as trans for my object-organizing + project management + administrative task tendencies. or something.#the tendency maybe esp of senior engineers to consider the organization/admin/logistics not ... 'part of the work' or 'part of their job'?#or smth best handed off to someone more secretary-coded#idk i view org/pming/admin as crucial to Making Things Get Done and also everything is an opportunity to connect with someone#both in a human to human perspective and also like.#if i do need to call in a favor it's coming from me as someone who has had positive interactions + will lend a hand with something in return#like. the mycorrhizal network.#it's 4 AM and i am Not sleep. take this all grain of salt style#maybe the temporary view I can take is that i am getting more chances to build that myconet#the upside again is that if person-who-asks-tasks says “oh such and such can't be done/will take forever” i am sometimes able to#*jean luc picard voice* make it so#we'll see
