Earlier this year, I realised I lacked up-to-date photos of Aotearoa's (airworthy) Jetstream fleet. With that in mind, I hopped over to Kirikiroa to grab Oringair's thrice weekly Palmerston North-Hamilton service in action.

msn 969 has had a long history most of which has taken place here.

New to Wings West Airlines (t/as American Eagle) in 1992, it served until 1996, whereupon it was placed into storage.

In 1999, it was sold to Rex Aviation (NZ) Ltd and was given the c/r ZK-RES and operated regional services for Ansett New Zealand.

Following the abrupt collapse of Ansett New Zealand in 2000, it was sold to Tasman Pacific Regional Airlines Ltd (Qantas). Who also collapsed but sold the Jetstream beforehand in 2002.

From there, it went to Origin Pacific (also operating for Qantas, albeit in a more indirect manner) as ZK-JSR. Origin Pacific also collapsed in 2006.

It ended up with Air National, who voluntarily collapsed, as ZK-ECJ and then Air Vincent.

Finally, in 2020, it ended up with Originair a successor to Origin Pacfic and gained its current c/r ZK-JSJ in 2021.

This aircraft was built in 1945 as the fourth and final in a series of 1/3 scale test prototypes models for the Northrop XB-35 flying Wing bombers.and was the grandfather of today's B-2 Stealth Bomber. The only surviving one left,  this aircraft was  75 years old in 2019 when it was lost in a fatal accident in Riverside California on April 22nd, 2019 after suffering a loss of control in flight.
