Speaking of Kylesa and this record, this has to be one of my favourite Kylesa songs of all time.

Thursday, November 24: Howling Sycamore, “Obstinate Pace”
“Obstinate Pace” wasn’t exactly an accurate title for its accompanying track, though there was a certain obstinance to the affair in that Howling Sycamore were clearly not interested in catering to any notions of accessibility or linear songcraft. It was little wonder that the combination of tech death virtuosity, hard rock vocals and saxophone didn’t last beyond one record, though Jason McMaster had long since proven his voice could work within a broad range of styles. Still, “Obstinate Pace” was something else altogether, careening all over the place without much regard for structure. The bits didn’t entirely come together, but they were certainly interesting to listen to, and that in itself made the tune a rewarding experience, if not entirely a fulfilling one.

Album Review: Glacial Tomb - Lightless Expanse (Prosthetic Records)
Unleashing a cacophony of ugly and brutal noise from the very start, Glacial Tomb set out the goal of this album, and it’s a painful one.
Sludge-infused death and black metal band, Glacial Tomb will leave their mark on 2024 when they release their second full length studio album, ‘Lightless Expanse’. It will be unleashed on September 20th, 2024, Prosthetic Records on September 20, 2024.

[Album of the day] Exist - Hijacking The Zeitgeist
Baltimore, MD || 2024 || Prosthetic Records
[Genres] prog death, djent
[Themes] Modern society and its ills; woe must surely follow the technological trappings of our generation. For the Blue Light Infinite casts false shadows within Plato's allegorical cave, the only solution to be the touching of fresh grass.
[FFO] Psychotic Waltz
[Thoughts] 2024.04.12 has been a great day for album releases! You won't find Exist on Metallum yet; they've waffeled on the discussion as past releases edged more towards prog rock/djent. Nevertheless, I really dig this release and expect to be spinning it again soon.*
The cover art really captures the feelings of the album, credit to Sebastian Jerke for continuously putting out amazing artwork. Check out his other album covers, fellow stoners may recognize some names such as My Sleeping Karma.
