the loop may be ended...
... but there was demand for a playlist, and the old one sucked.
While the 1872-73 timeline is mostly marked by power ballads (it's a love story) the rest of the songs are either straight-up d̷͍̼̒̍o̸̮͝ơ̵̻m̷͎̂ ̷̨̑̎m̵̦̮͝e̶̺͕̍̓ṱ̴̈̽a̸͖̎̍l̶̩̈́̂ or they're some flavor of experimental/noise/atmospheric black metal. Or they're strategically placed video game soundtracks that make me burst into tears bc I'm ridiculous, but prob sound out of place to an emotionally stable individual.
Anyway they match up with the chapter order until you get to "Litany of Desire," which covers chapters 10 + 11. After that it's [chapter number] -1.
Body Void and Xiu Xiu were thrown in for the somatic sound effect. I had to be careful which "meant to make you feel weird" songs I included; I may think it's funny to listen to ultra-low frequency tones high off my ass until I trigger my occipital neuralgia and puke, but that's a personal choice.
Rambling about the individual songs in Act 1 under the cut. Anyway. Tagging the DMLS folks, plus @astramachina and @sableglass and @words-after-midnight bc MUSIC.
@leahnardo-da-veggie @the-golden-comet @cowboybrunch @finickyfelix
@lychhiker-writes @wyked-ao3 @saturnine-saturneight
@gioiaalbanoart @davycoquette @zackprincebooks @jev-urisk
1) "The Bad Luck That Saved You From Something Worse": You hear that noise at the beginning? I hate it. It feels like feelers inside my skull. That's the feeling of restarting at the beginning of a time loop--something shitty happened and I have no clue what I was doing or what I'm supposed to do next. #hofercore
2) "The Parasite" - the first time I heard this song, Sullivan and Royston popped into my head.
Tumblr media
Then Royston started bitching me out because it wasn't his fault they were here and Sullivan wasn't dead and they weren't supposed to be here and behbehbehbehbeh.
3) "No One Like You": Not just a '80s song because Jamie is a millennial. No no. There's a reason I put this as The Song for the beginning of the bar fight loop (there are loops within loops bc I love myself. Twine loves this too.)
Tumblr media
Each time they go it gets harder bc Sullivan keeps forgetting everything lol.
4) "High Plains Eulogy": This is the first Royston POV chapter and he has eyeballs. He realizes he's fucked up. IDK if he realizes there was literally nothing he could do to get here any sooner. (I'm willing to give him this much: Sullivan being pissed off and avoiding returning his letters fucks the run every single time it happens.) This is the first of many "Royston is a visual learner" chapters.
5) "Psalm III - Olam Teshuvah": You hear the dripping and screaming in the beginning? I think I'm being clever and warning you what's going to happen with Martin, who is just standing there in a catatonic stupor.
6) "Ace of Spades": This was, at the time, the most ridiculous thing I'd ever written. It is 100% Royston's fault the shootout happened in the first place, let alone escalated to the degree that Sullivan couldn't reel it in. Sullivan would have compared it to bullriding, if he'd "ever partaken in such a foolish activity."
7) "Ashen Era": Johnson and White are explaining the tree to Sullivan. I'm warning you about the tree with this song.
8) "This One Has No Heart": I mean… [gestures at Martin; gestures at Royston] … they're both fucked.
9) "Hysteria":
Director's Commentary moment, are you ready?
In the prologue, Hofer's ears start ringing. This is because there was a previous run where he caught a bullet in the neck and fucking died. (Tinnitus is a warning you're about to do the same stupid shit that got you killed previously. Sullivan doesn't really get that bc he keeps finding new exciting ways to die.)
When Hofer got shot in the neck, that restarted the loop--Sullivan dies in that cabin if Hofer doesn't treat his leg. So as far as Royston was concerned, he was just in the train, shot full of the Delilah Special, and now he's opening his eyes and Sullivan is fine and he doesn't know if Sullivan remembers/hates him/etc. and he can't fly out of bed all dramatic like he wants to bc he literally has no control over his skeletal muscles (thanks, hemlock and whatever else Delilah hit him with.)
If anyone has any interest in seeing an entire post like this a) you're crazy and b) I would be more than happy to do one with more effort/spoilers.

Scripture Of The Day - July 17, 2024
Psalm 100:4,5 - "Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations."
Satan’s plan is to make us somehow accept, either through our upbringing, our experiences or through Church dogma that certain portions of the life of Christ are untrue or not valid in our case.  Every battle we face in life is over the word and whether or not we can build our lives upon the faithfulness and integrity of God.
Hebrews 10:23  - "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is FAITHFUL;"
Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Psalm 37:1-3
In this Psalm, David is instructing the children of God not to fret when it seems like everyone around you is prospering, especially the unrighteous. The antidote given by King David for "fretting" is to feed on the Lord's faithfulness.
Like Psalm 27:13 says, "I truly would lose heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord," nevertheless, there are more times that the worries of the world knock us out. This is why it is crucial that we feed on His FAITHFULNESS.
Yet, how do we do that? One of the primary ways is to feast on His Word -- for it is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).
RECALLING GOD'S FAITHFULNESS IN TRYING TIMES
In the third chapter of the Book of Lamentations -  the prophet Jeremiah, was suffering through God's chastisement along with his people. As a result of his distress, Jeremiah confessed that his soul was far from any peace, that he had forgotten what happiness was, and that his strength was gone. He felt that God shut out his prayers and had lost his expectant hope in the Lord through his terrible struggle.
Despite all his feelings of being forsaken, Jeremiah prayed again! He boldly said, "Remember my affliction and roaming, the wormwood and the gall" (Lamentations 3:19). The word for "remember" doesn't imply that God forgot His children.  The Hebrew word used here is zakar (Strong's #2142) and speaks of recalling something, meditating on it, purposefully pulling it up in your mind. Jeremiah was asking God to think on him, to focus His Divine intentions on him!
"My soul still remembers and sinks within me" (Lamentations 3:20). Yet, after praying again to God, something happened. Instead of thinking on his circumstances, he "turned to the Lord" and found hope. "This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope" (Lamentations 3:21).
TURN TO THE LORD
"Recall" is connected to one of the primary words used for repentance, shuwb (Strong's #7725), and means to turn back or return. You see, Jeremiah was thinking on his distress and affliction, which was, in a sense PUTTING A SPIRITUAL DISTANCE BETWEEN HIMSELF AND GOD. All he had to do was turn his thoughts to the Lord, to return to Him.
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..." (James 4:7-8).
Jeremiah went from thinking on his circumstances to thinking on God. -- Lamentations 3:22-26  - "The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 'The LORD is my portion,' says my soul, 'Therefore I have hope in Him.' The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord."
He fed on God's faithfulness!  God uses ALL distress and affliction for His glory to produce character in us. "...tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3,4).
Acts 16:25,26  -  "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God:  and the prisoners heard them.  And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:  and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed."
God's faithfulness is triggered by our faith, while praise brings us into His presence.  When we praise God, He raises us out of our situation.
When we find ourselves in trouble, we use praise as a key to unlock the "prison doors" of our circumstances.  No matter what is going on in our life -- we fill our mouth with the ADORATION AND GREATNESS OF GOD.

The Power of Thankfulness
We have a choice about what attitude we go through life with. We can either adopt a sour, complaining mindset, or one of gratitude and thankfulness. The wisdom to be thankful not only influences our thought lives, but actually enables us to be more productive. Studying God’s Word reveals how much we can accomplish with right-thinking.
Being thankful shifts our attention away from ourselves and toward God, keeps us humble and dependent on Him, and makes us grateful for what we have—even the little things. It also pushes out the spirit of complaining, makes Satan flee, and keeps the doors of blessing open. It even enhances our prayer lives when we devote ourselves to prayer with alert minds and thankful hearts (Colossians 4:2, NLT).
Thankfulness is a powerful weapon against negative emotions. Believers are instructed not to worry about anything, but instead, to pray about everything (Philippians 4:6, NLT). While we’re praying and telling God what we need, we should also thank Him for all He has done. Paul knew all about prayer; he wrote in his letter to Philemon that he always thanked God as he remembered Philemon in his prayers (Philemon 1:4, NIV).
Life will never be perfect; it’s not supposed to be. When it throws something at us that we don’t like, deciding to give thanks anyway keeps us in control of our response to the situation. We’re to give thanks not for everything, but in everything; this is God’s will for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Pondering how God’s grace affects our lives triggers thankfulness; thankfulness brings us into God’s presence by allowing us to enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise (Psalm 100:4).
As free moral agents, we can think however we choose, but God asks us to infuse our thoughts with thanksgiving. Our hearts and minds are closely connected. Letting gratitude into both empowers us to carry out God’s assignment for our lives and live in the peace He promised.

ALL NUMBERS FOR GASTON
You do not know what you have brought upon this cursed website
Tumblr media
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
Genuinely always enjoyed extremely over the top dramatic flamboyant arrogant bastards who get redeemed as a character. I also love that never in the game he is an actual antagonist, he just makes himself very hard to get along with in the first half of the game and makes every fight as a partner extremely frustrating just because you killed a snake before he could once. 10/10 petty behaviour. You actually feel for him when he no longer is crusader captain because you know he's a sucker for attention and cares a lot about how others perceive him. Also spears are genuinely underrated weapons to give to a character. He's the definition of Christian boy guilt. 5 stars most arrogant man in Mikado (alive) would buy again
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
Him canonically striking a pose when winning against Merkabah is by far the funniest fucking thing. He would absolutely do that again. I like to think he does that after every battle. He probably does it in front of a mirror sometimes.
Tumblr media
Also him being a picky eater evident by his hunter association dialogue. Yes autistic king I get it.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Ik it's not really canon(thank god) as it is like a hallucination by nanashi but like the downright pedo dialogue at the start of the Beach DLC (Ew Ew Ew banana peel banana peel tomato tomato crucify the french boy)
4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?
Faith the unholy Trilogy: make this man experience the religious horrors and see how long he'd survive
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Titanic by Falco (it's about fully giving into decadence and being brave enough to take the fall)
6. What's something you have in common with this character?
Massive ego and flamboyancy
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
The insanely scrumptious fanart that people post every now and them. Also everyone unanimously agreeing that he is the worst battle partner and is only good when auto grinding.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
The fandom consists of like 3 people and a bunch of dead shitpost accounts brother there is nothing to criticise when there is nothing to begin with
9. Could you be roommates with this character?
No, I genuinely think he would get very pissed by the way I organise and sometimes forget to pay rent (judging how decked out his family is he would probably be a landlord sympathiser).
10. Could you be best friends with this character?
We are already besties
11. Would you date this character?
HELL NAH
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Most homosexual homo to have ever sexualed but is extremely repressed. Has memorized most of the bible and will drop psalms occasionally (even after killing God it's just that ingrained) Autistic, his first special interest was the bible, but autism wasn't yet invented in 1432 Mikado so everyone thought he was a child blessed by God. Knows how to ride horses, was taught by his father and knows how to cook, taught by his grandmother. After the peace route he discovered a cooking show DVD and rewatches it constantly. Is iron deficient, passed out often during puberty. Has NPD. If he lived in the real world he would be very rude to customer service staff but leave a 100€ tip.
13. What's an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?
Fork emoji
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Light academia: white and brown hell yeah
15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)
Tumblr media
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
Literally any ship that ships him with an under age character or him and his brother (I can't believe I have to say this)
17. What's a ship for this character you don't hate but it's not your favorite that you're fine with?
Forget the insanity of angels and the weird time bending shit that went on in Mikado for a minute and Gaston x Jonathan would actually become an interesting narrative of two gay guys who had their gayness repressed by a super religious kingdom and the inherently classist feudal system whose heteronormative structure demands heterosexuality to uphold the godchosen oppressor class and the tragedy of one becoming the very essence of the force that oppresses(angel) and the other bing forced to kill his lover to achieve freedom. Doomed yaoi if you will
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
If the writers knew how to cook they would've utilized the clear parallels they established between Toki and Gaston. Their friendship could've genuinely went hard. It does go hard but only in my head unfortunately.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Bestie behaviour
Tumblr media
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
His extravagant speech, that is on the other hand very weird to Google how do you write the past tense of dilly dally
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
There are like 2 fics I love them all
23. Favorite picture of this character?
These two I made I can't decide
Tumblr media Tumblr media
24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?
Apollo Justice Lawyersona Shin Megamitourney Acesei
Tumblr media
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
Genuinely don't remember anything that happened between 2013 and 2018 including my first play through. All I know now is that he is literally me.

“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” —Ephesians 2:4‭-‬10 (NLT)
“Truths About Our Unchanging God” By In Touch Ministries:
“God provides all we need in order to move through life in security and peace.”
“Yesterday we discussed God’s character. As Scripture tells us, He is all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present, and always truthful. And because of these attributes, we as believers have the assurance every day that God will:
• Extend His lovingkindness to us. Sending Jesus to die in our place proves His love for us (1 John 4:10), and His unchanging nature means His love never ends (Psalm 100:5).
• Help us accomplish His will. In fact, He promises to provide everything we need to carry out the assignments He gives us (Hebrews 13:21).
• Protect us so we do not have to compromise. Although we are weak on our own, His Holy Spirit gives us the strength to say no to temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13).
• Forgive our sins. He is always ready to receive our confession, forgive us, and restore intimacy with Him (1 John 1:9).
The Lord wants us to live and rest assured that He is for us. After all, He wants to “show the boundless riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:7). The next time you’re feeling uncertain, return to these principles and meditate over them—and may you receive God’s peace in return.”

WITHOUT ANY APOLOGIES
I am pro-life 100% with no apologies, because God is pro-life. If you are a Christian, think about this, folks. Is modern abortion that much different from the ancient Israelites who shed the innocent blood of their very own sons and daughters, when they sacrificed them to the false gods of ancient Canaan? God HATES the shedding of innocent blood:
"Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And SHED INNOCENT BLOOD, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood."
Psalms 106:37-38, KJV
"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD."
Proverbs 6:16-17, KJV
Abortion is nothing new. People have been killing babies for thousands of years. Their methods have just gotten “better”. Consider this verse from the Book of Enoch. Kasdeja is a fallen angel:
". . . And the fifth was named Kasdeja: this is he who showed the children of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons, and the smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away . . ."
Book of Enoch 69:12
The Bible tells us that children are a blessing from God, and NOT a curse or an inconvenience:
"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB IS HIS REWARD."
Psalms 127:3, KJV
God was in fact aware of our existence, and even designed us, BEFORE we were physically formed in the womb. Check out these verses:
"Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and HE THAT FORMED THEE FROM THE WOMB, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;"
Isaiah 44:24, KJV
"BEFORE I FORMED THEE IN THE BELLY I KNEW THEE; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
Jeremiah 1:5, KJV
"For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."
Psalms 139:13-16, KJV
Here is more proof that God foreknew us:
"FOR WHOM HE DID FOREKNOW, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."
Romans 8:29, KJV
"According as he hath chosen us in him BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love . . . Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will . . . In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:"
Ephesians 1:4-5, 11, KJV
Because of our stance regarding abortion, some liberals are quick to label Bible-believing Christians as "religious zealots". Well, let me say this: If "religious zealot" means someone who places God’s Laws and God’s Word above the corrupt laws of men which condone killing unborn babies, then, yes, go ahead and label Christians such as myself as zealots. I will wear the label as a badge of honor. Let me also add that someday when pro-abortionists stand before the Judgement Seat of the God of the Universe, they will finally understand their grave error; but by then, it may be too late!
