Creator: Think About Who God Is, and Who You Are
Creator: Think About Who God Is, and Who You Are
Owner’s Manual Do you ever use the owner’s manual in your car? You know, the book from the people who MADE the car? It contains almost everything you need to know about your vehicle. Doesn’t it make sense to get information from the designer and creator of your car when you have a question? In the Bible, David says that makes good sense for us to get information from our creator as well: “Your…

Psalm 119: 73-80. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn Thy commandments. They that fear Thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in Thy word. I know, O LORD, that Thy judgments are right, and that Thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. God's Charges Against Israel
1 Hear the word of יהוה, you children of Yisra’ĕl, for יהוה has a case against the inhabitants of the land: “For there is no truth or kindness or knowledge of Elohim in the land.
2 “Swearing, and lying, and murdering, and stealing, and committing adultery have increased. And bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3 “Therefore the land mourns, and everyone living there languishes, with the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens. And the fish of the sea are taken away.
4 “However, let no one strive or reprove another, for your people are like those striving with a priest.
5 “And you shall stumble in the day, and the prophet shall also stumble with you in the night. And I shall make your mother perish.
6 “My people have perished for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being priest for Me. Since you have forgotten the Torah of your Elohim, I also forget your children.
7 “As they were increased, so they sinned against Me. My esteem they have changed into shame.
8 “They eat the sin of My people, and lift up their desire to their crookedness.
9 “And it shall be: like people, like priest. And I shall punish them for their ways, and reward them for their deeds.
10 “And they shall eat but not be satisfied, they shall whore but not increase, for they have stopped obeying יהוה.
11 “Whoring, and wine, and new wine enslave the heart.
12 “My people ask from their Wood, and their Staff declares to them. For a spirit of whorings has led them astray, and they went whoring from under their Elohim.
13 “They slaughter on the mountaintops, and burn incense on the hills, under oak and poplars and terebinth, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters commit whoring, and your brides commit adultery.
14 “I would not punish your daughters when they commit whoring, nor your brides when they commit adultery, for the men themselves go aside with whores, and offer with cult prostitutes – a people that do not understand are thrust down!
15 “Though you are a whore, Yisra’ĕl, let not Yehuḏah become guilty. Do not come up to Gilgal, nor go up to Bĕyth Awen, nor swear an oath, saying, ‘As יהוה lives!’
16 “For Yisra’ĕl is stubborn, like a stubborn calf. Would יהוה now feed them like a lamb in a broad place?
17 “Ephrayim is joined to idols, let him alone.
18 “Their drink is sour, they have whored continually. Her rulers wildly loved shame.
19 “A wind has bound her up in its wings, and they are ashamed because of their slaughterings. — Hosea 4 | The Scriptures 1998 (ISR 1998) The Scriptures 1998 Copyright © 1998 Institute for Scripture Research. oh also. reading Psalm 119 together and the way the verses went in my family yesterday I ended up with verses 71 to 74 and I could barely read them and while my brother was keeping reading (we read turn about, four each) I was quietly crying; I don't think anyone noticed.
The verses in question:
71 It is good for me that I was afflicted,     that I might learn thy statutes. 72 The law of thy mouth is better to me     than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
73 Thy hands have made and fashioned me;     give me understanding that I may learn thy commandments. 74 Those who fear thee shall see me and rejoice,     because I have hoped in thy word.

Psalm 119 is, along with Psalm 1, one of the most important hymns in this sapiential book. The Psalm 119 is a Psalm, a song, dedicated to praising God for the excellence of his eternal law. And the Psalm teaches something very important that is often overlooked by all who dedicate themselves to studying the Bible, the exclusively rational interpretation of the law of Moses is an error. The law of Moses must be analyzed first of all in the light of the grace that God grants to men, because as the Bible teaches: "Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man", Ecclesiastes 12:13. The spiritual gift of fear of God is defined as constancy, firmness, devotion, and equanimity. And what this sapiential teaching expresses is that the law must submit to the common sense that the fear of God provides to the reason of man. Because the opposite of this beautiful spiritual gift is the hardness of the heart, and whoever subjects the law to this hardness of the soul falls into heresy, oppression, and deception. This is why Psalm 119 expresses with devotion the need for the spiritual gifts to perfect the law in the hearts of men: "Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands" Psalm 119:73. And an example of this request was King Solomon, who in dreams asked God for the sacred listening to judge and do justice in Israel, and the Lord blessed him with the spiritual gifts of wisdom, understanding, and discernment. The prescriptions of Moses alone are not enough to bear perfections of blessing and men must seek with determination the wisdom that God, out of his love, offers to men.

The Creator and His Creation: Think About Who GOD is, and Who YOU Are...
We recently bought a car, and it came with a manual from the folks who made it. There are a bunch of electronics and features we wouldn’t even know about if we hadn’t been given the owner’s manual (in both book and digital format, btw). This book from the people who made the car contains almost everything you need to know about your vehicle. Doesn’t it make sense to get information from the…

The Lord: Our Safe Place in Life and Covering in Death
A miktam of David.
1 Keep me, O God, for I am safe in You. 2 I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord. All the good things I have come from You.” 3 As for those in the land who belong to You, they are the great ones in whom is all my joy. 4 Those who have traded for another god bring many troubles on themselves. I will not take part in their altar gifts of blood. And I will not take their names upon my lips.
5 The Lord is all that I am to receive, and my cup. My future is in Your hands. 6 The land given to me is good. Yes, my share is beautiful to me.
7 I will give honor and thanks to the Lord, Who has told me what to do. Yes, even at night my mind teaches me. 8 I have placed the Lord always in front of me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be moved. 9 And so my heart is glad. My soul is full of joy. My body also will rest without fear. 10 For You will not give me over to the grave. And You will not allow Your Holy One to return to dust. 11 You will show me the way of life. Being with You is to be full of joy. In Your right hand there is happiness forever. — Psalm 16 | New Life Version (NLV) New Life Version Holy Bible Copyright © 1969, 2003 by Barbour Publishing, Inc. Lord, Please Give Me a Servant's Heart: Sunday Devotional
Psalm 119:73-76 You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands. May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word. I know, O Lord, that your regulations are fair;  you disciplined me because I needed it. Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant. When I think of someone from the Bible with a…
