homophobia is on the rise but institutions are still promoting rainbow capitalism. I'm not about to say that companies need to stop making rainbow things, that's just helping conservatives. But I know that everyone having pride flags, even the teachers I couldn't go to for help, is the reason all of my friends have been called slurs in just the last week. The anger conservatives have over rainbow capitalism is being directed to regular queer people.

Just finished reading an incredible essay by E Patrick Johnson called "Quare" Studies, or (Almost) Everything I Know About Queer Studies I Learned from My Grandmother. Basically, quare theory is a reaction white queer theorist's tendency to ignore queer people of color, and the material effects that both race and class have on people outside of gender and sexuality. I think maybe everyone should read it (though it was assigned in a masters level class and took me two days to read, so be warned I guess)

Y’all… I think I really like Quar. Once the starter box gets here and I get the little guys painted up, I’m gonna post some battle reports and talk about the game a bit.

How can you not be charmed by these little anteater guys? I mean, look at those snouts, and the sad little way they look to the ground. Just gotta get some games and feel it out!

This Quar's tank

I've started a tank for the Quar's War. It's mostly done already, but it still needs that flower and some numerical designations I think.

Maybe some weathering.

Coftyran Cryfen LMG Rhyfler. It's quite nostalgic painting heavy metal minis again, which is largely why I'm doing "normal" bases instead of fancy 3d printed ones

The Coftyr half of my Quar Clash of Rhyfles box is built, and as a little bonus I converted a Tractor Tank for them out of a Chibi Sherman model kit that's been sitting in my backlog for a long time.

For reference, these tanks look like this:

I think this will be a fine proxy, and it fits in the starter box with all the other models! To balance it out I bought 3 extra anti-tank infantry and 3 heavy machine gunners for the Crusader side. Next step is to get everything painted!

We need to use the word quare more

The word quare is used to describe the unique queer experiences of black LGBTQ people, and it should be used much more in queer discourse. Black people often have different experiences with their gender and sexuality compared to white people, often a result of their differing cultures and financial situations that come from their race. Despite many attempts the word queer often brings to mind a white person of differing gender/sexuality, and gives the impression that neither of those things are related to race. That is why a word like quare is important, so show otherwise.

So what are you waiting for? Quare experiences and important to speak about!

There are probably a few things McGoohan did that doesn't land him on a "Weirdo" or "Cult classics" or "Forgotten B-movies" watchlist. But this one really makes me think maybe that grumpy old man who is supposed to terrorize everyone who disturbs him mulling over a book in a bar at 6 a.m. is actually just a simple Irish guy living in a not so simple world.
