Communément appelé le ROM, le Musée Royal de l’Ontario est un musée sur quatre étages consacré à l’histoire naturelle et les cultures du monde. Les collections sont définitivement impressionnantes. J’en ai déjà fait des musées, mais jamais avec une telle ampleur. On commence…

EXCLUSIVE: Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), Timothy V. Murphy (Appaloosa) and Bruce Greenwood (The Fall of the House of Usher) have boarded The Fabulous Four, a new comedy from Bleecker Street, which has entered production in Georgia under an Interim Agreement from SAG-AFTRA.

The actors join an ensemble that also includes Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, and Megan Mullally, as previously announced. Ralph takes over the role of Sissy Spacek, who was attached as of last fall but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Bleecker Street nabbed North American rights to the pic last October and will release the film in U.S. theaters in 2024. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance arranged the financing and brokered the deal for U.S. rights, with Sierra/Affinity repping international sales.

Written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, the Cannes prize-winner best known for her Kate Winslet pic The Dressmaker, the film follows three life-long friends (Sarandon, Mullally, and Ralph) who travel to Key West, Florida to be bridesmaids in a surprise wedding of their college girlfriend Marilyn (Midler). Once there, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past rises up again in all its glory, and there are enough sparks, drinks and romance to change all their lives in ways they never expected.

Richard Barton Lewis’ Southpaw Entertainment is producing alongside Lauren Hantz of Hantz Motion Pictures.

An icon of stage and screen, Ralph has won an Emmy and numerous other accolades for her portrayal of kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard on Abbott Elementary, the ABC mockumentary that has emerged as one the most popular scripted series on linear. The show, created by and starring Quinta Brunson, was renewed for a third season in January but only recently returned to the writers’ room, following the conclusion of the WGA strike. Otherwise perhaps best known for her Tony-nominated turn as Deena Jones in Broadway’s Dreamgirls, Ralph has also been seen in Mistress with Robert de Niro, To Sleep with Anger with Danny Glover, The Distinguished Gentlemen with Eddie Murphy, and Sister Act 2 with Whoopi Goldberg, along with such series as Moesha and Ray Donovan.

Most recently recurring on Law & Order: Organized Crime and ABC’s The Company You Keep, Murphy previously reprised his role in Uni’s comedy MacGruber on the same-name Peacock series. Other recent credits for the actor on the TV side include S.W.A.T., Snowpiercer, Westworld, and True Detective, to name just a few. Additional feature credits include In Full Bloom, The Lone Ranger, and National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

Greenwood puts in a stellar turn as Fortunato Pharmaceuticals CEO Roderick Usher in Netflix’s Edgar Allen Poe-inspired miniseries The Fall of the House of Usher from Mike Flanagan, which bowed on the platform earlier this month. He also recently starred in the Fox medical drama The Resident, which ran for six seasons, and will soon appear in fantasy pic The Invisibles with Tim Blake Nelson and Gretchen Mol, among other projects.

At this year’s Toronto Film Festival, Bleecker Street nabbed U.S. rights to James Hawes’ One Life, starring Anthony Hopkins, and the starry British comedy Fackham Hall, which goes into production next year. The company also locked down UK rights, alongside Elysian Film Group and Anonymous Content, to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron. Upcoming releases include the Meg Ryan-helmed rom-com What Happens Later, coming to theaters November 3, which she leads with David Duchovny, and Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson’s Waitress: The Musical, out December 7 with Fathom Events.

Pourquoi? Parce qu’ils ont tout mis en oeuvre pour vous plonger (littéralement) dans un monde parallèle, celui des baleines. C’est vraiment une exposition qui m’a scotchée tant par la masse de recherche…

13º Helen Fanshaw x Geoffrey Tennant (Slings & Arrows, 2003-06)

Status: Canon and fabulous.

Some months ago, i has recently finished the three series (eighteen episodes) of the canadian TV Show Slings and Arrows. Sweet Theater Gods and Lúcifer, Geoffrey Tennant and Helen Fanshaw are a “on again, off again” hot mess that i love! My favorite moment with them is when, reunited and having their first honest and friendly conversation in seven years, they walk around the streets of Toronto and take a paddleboat ride, remembering the day that Geoffrey haved his first mental breakdown and Helen, sad for him fleing the theater in the middle of their performance of Hamlet, tried to drown herself and survived with a dress dirt of mud. They are played by real life married couple Paul Gross and Martha Burns, and nothing shows more passionate chemistry them a couple of aging actors playing a couple of aging actors. Plus, i loved Helen’s red wedding dress so, so much!!

I grew up watching VHSs of the old Disney 2-D Animated movies over, and over, and over. And a thing that i find funny is that most people tend to quote movies from the 1990s Disney Renaissance as when Disney Couples started to met each other first instead of fall in love at first sight, bu when we make a retrospective, in actuality it was Lady and Tramp who started the trend. First they met at Lady’s house and have a verbal fight due to diverging points of view about humans, them they encounter each other again at the streets when she flees from Aunt Sarah, and they walk trough the zoo to unleash Ladys muzzle, Tramp takes her to dinner at Tonys (wich us gives Bella Notte, one of the most romantic scenes in movie history)... every step that a real couple takes to meet each other is taken by Lady and Tramp.

11º Fininha x Clécio (Tatuagem, 2013)

Status: Canon, but star crossed.

Tatuagem (Tattoo) is a movie set in the late 1970s, during the period of the Brazilian Civil-Military Dictatorship, that tells the love story between Fininha, an young soldier, and Clécio, an actor and playwrighter who produces satirical plays for a underground theater called Chão de Estrelas (Floor of Stars). Their romance is one of the most sweetest ever captured on film, but we also feel a certain unease that the fact of Fininha being at the service of the military who persecutes the theater artists will break the couple apart at any moment...

10º Marianne Danielle x Doctor Van Helsing (The Brides of Dracula, 1960)

Status: Fanon due to lack of confirmation word from the movie creators.

While watching Hammer Horror’s Brides of Dracula, i finded adorable how Doctor Van Helsing cares for Marianne Danielle (whom he befriends while arriving at Transilvania), how he wants to protect her and respects her feelings, to the point of trying contain his sorrow when she announces her engagement with Baron Meinster. I always imagine that when he defeated the Baron (who is revealed to be a vampire), and flee the wind mill with Marianne, he declared his feelings, she reciprocated, he teached her how to fight vampires, they married and became a battle couple searching to purge the world of the vampires. This is a pairing who deservers more love, fanart and fanfiction.

09º Queen Fantaghirò x King Romualdo (Fantaghirò/The Cave of the Golden Rose franchise, 1991-96)

Status: Canon and powerfull.

Fantaghirò (known in the english speaking world as The Cave of the Golden Rose) is a series of five television films produced in Italy by Lamberto Bava (Mario Bava’s son), telling the adventures of Fantaghirò, the youngest of three princess sisters who trained to become a brave warrior, as a way to get free of the sexist restrictions imposed to her life by her father. Her kingdom has  been at war with a  neighbor kingdom for years, and one the young recent adversary king, Romualdo, decides to end the war by personally challenging the best champion of Fantaghirò’s kingdom. Fantaghirò, disguised as man, presents herself as this champion, and their love story begins when Romualdo falls in love with the beauty of her eyes. What’s interesting about this couple is how their personalitys complement each other: Fantaghirò with a more combative strong temper, and Romualdo with a more sweet and calm temper.

08º Nina Shah x Lisa MacKinlay (Nina’s Heavenly Delights, 2006)

Status: Canon and delightful.

Nina’s Heavenly Delights is a Rom Com about a cooking contest,  directed by Pratibha Parmar. The death of her father Mohan brings prodigal daughter, Scot with Indian ancestry Nina (Shelley Conn) home again to her mother, siblings - and the family restaurant, ‘The Taj’. Being able to keep the latter now hinges on the cooking skills Nina learned at her father‘s knees. In the ‘Best of The West Curry Competition’ she will have to face the former fiancé she left at the altar, Sanjay. In this competition, she will count with the partnership of Lisa, who owns half of the restaurant since Mohan’s death and already seems to be very much part of Nina’s family. And in the proccess, Lisa also becomes a part of Nina’s heart...

Como membro da Girls' Generation, Tiffany Young passou grande parte de sua vida como parte dos círculos internos da realeza K-pop. A jovem de 29 anos passou a maior parte de sua adolescência e vinte anos vivendo uma vida tão diferente de pessoa comum, ela pode muito bem ter vivido em uma fantasia.

Mas depois de deixar o selo SM Entertainment, da Girls’ Generation, no final de 2017, a jovem nascida na Califórnia reorientou sua direção e começou a lançar músicas solo destinadas ao público que falava inglês. Este ano, ela lançou Lips on Lips, inspirada nos contos de fadas, e realizou sua primeira turnê na América do Norte, durante a qual se aproximou de seus fãs, antigos e novos, em vários locais íntimos.

À frente de seu show em Nova York no Bowery Ballroom em 6 de março, Young sentou-se com a Billboard para falar sobre como escrever Lips on Lips, suas inspirações e muito mais.

Como vai a turnê?

Surpreendente. Minha parte favorita sobre a criação de músicas é em turnê, e eu não estive em turnê por um tempo. Estou feliz, nervosa e animada ao mesmo tempo. Este é o mais perto que eu já estive dos [fãs], então é muito especial.

Como tem sido isso para você?

É tão raro você ter uma segunda chance. E o fato de eu poder viver aqueles momentos da primeira vez de novo, é especial.

Como isso é diferente dos seus últimos primeiros tempos?

É mais íntimo e pessoal porque é a música que eu escrevi. Eu sinto que posso descobrir minha alma. Eu me sinto tão amada e aceita e pronta para assumir essa energia para escrever e ser mais aberta. Porque, no final, a abertura sempre foi a batalha para mim. Estou tão feliz por poder falar sobre isso com você. É um momento tão empolgante. Estar no palco, eu me torno a mulher que eu quero ser. Foi uma sensação tão mágica a outra noite [noite de estréia em Toronto em 3 de março]. Eu raramente fico feliz depois de um primeiro show. Eu saí daquele palco e fiquei tipo “Dang, toda essa prática. Todos aqueles ensaios, todas aquelas noites e noites e dias e dias de apenas cantar meu coração, ou ir para aulas de canto." Todo mundo estava tipo, "Por que você está indo para aulas de canto?" E eu estava tipo "Não pergunte." Eu só vou ficar sempre humilde ao meu ofício. É mágico.

Como seu estilo de cantar mudou desde que você começou a ter aulas de canto?

Isso me abriu muito. Isso me deixou muito mais técnica, mas me levou de volta às emoções cruas também. Eu não estou mais olhando para partituras reais, estou apenas cantando para minhas emoções. Se eu quero crescer, vou crescendo ao meu coração, não uma regra. Isso é incrível.

Como você se sente seguindo em frente, passando pela primeira parte de sua carreira?

Eu estava pronta para ir em frente e fazer isso. Estou pronta para construir, estou pronta para ganhar esse tempo e amor que [os fãs] gastam comigo. Seu dinheiro suado e o tempo que dedicam. Eu queria valer cem milhões de vezes mais. Eu queria ser inestimável. Que quando eles vêm, nem é sobre isso. É sobre entrar em sintonia com as emoções deles, se abrir e começar a curtir a música do jeito que me tocou também.

Você acaba de lançar o Lips on Lips, e a tour é baseada nele. Por que você baseou tudo em torno da música-título, “Lips on Lips”?

Minha inspiração ao longo da vida tem sido baseada em fantasias de contos de fadas. Eu nunca me escondi disso, e eu percebi que é porque eu acredito que não importa a luta, o obstáculo ou aquela briga que você está passando, sempre há um feliz para sempre, sempre há um momento de triunfo ou aquele beijo de conto de fadas , que foi esse momento no EP. Eu expus como um livro, onde é um capítulo diferente. Você vai de “Born Again” à procura de amor para encontrar e romantizar o amor, que foi “Lips on Lips”. “Lips on Lips” foi aquele momento em que eu estava de volta ao meu espaço feliz; Eu amava a música porque me fazia sentir melhor. E não importava o quão triste eu estive, sempre voltava para uma música feliz ou uma canção sobre amor, ou uma música sobre lutar com um sorriso. E "Lips on Lips" é onde eu voltei para o romântico perdido em mim. Eu queria escrever uma canção de amor feliz. Tipo: “Posso me divertir agora? Eu acho que estou pronto para me divertir agora!" Eu realmente queria fazer parte do trabalho, onde há uma história para cada [música], apoiando um ao outro. Eu queria que fosse algo memorável. Eu queria que fosse verdade para mim. Qual é o seu conto de fadas favorito?

A pequena Sereia. Percebi que a psicologia de por que eu amava tanto era porque ela estava em seu mundo, onde todo mundo dizia que ela tinha tudo, e ela era uma princesa. Mas ela acreditava que ela poderia sair disso e encontrar o amor em um mundo maior. E eu acho que é o que eu sempre estive procurando, e estou feliz por estar de volta a um mundo maior.

Você tem um beijo ficcional favorito?

Minha cena favorita de beijo ... Titanic. Tão doloroso como o final é, essas [cenas] são minhas favoritas. Romeu e Julieta é sempre um favorito. Qualquer coisa Baz Luhrmann, de quem todo mundo sabe que eu sou um grande fã. E La La Land. Recentemente, eu estava assistindo "Nunca fui beijada" só para voltar a isso. Como sua abordagem à música mudou desde que você começou a lançar músicas sob o nome Tiffany Young no ano passado?

Eu sou K-pop. Eu sou coreana. Eu quero manter isso em mim. E eu quero trazer isso para a mesa, e aprender com os mestres do pop, que eu ainda estou um pouco incomodada. Dos incríveis produtores e escritores que eu tenho que trabalhar. Obviamente, Kevin [Nish do Far East Movement, que também gerencia Young sob o grupo Transparent Agency]. Há momentos em que eu fico tipo: "Sou cortada fora por escrever?" Eu me pergunto em cada par de músicas, quando eu fico presa. Como "The Flower", por exemplo. Eu escrevi repetidamente. Eu tive alguns colaboradores incríveis na sala. Eu tinha 9AM, que são novos produtores assinados para os estereótipos. Eu tinha Satica, minha deusa musical, e Varren Wade, que fez “Trip”, de Ella Mai. Então tivemos uma mistura tão legal de colaboradores na sala. Como foi trabalhar com Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds em “Runaway”?

Eu realmente queria trabalhar com os The Rascals. Comecei a trabalhar com Kris e Antonio Dixon, que fazem parte do acampamento Babyface, e fui ao estúdio quase todos os dias por uns bons três meses. Eu senti como se estivesse indo para a SM novamente. Era meio desse sistema. Eu veria Kenny a cada dois dias e ficaria tipo, bem, não “annyeonghaseyo”, mas tipo “Ei, eu vou aqui. Eu pratico e escrevo todos os dias!" E isso se tornou tão orgânico. Estávamos procurando por um som e uma história que realmente se encaixasse na pista dos contos de fadas. Eu percebi o momento em que havia a oportunidade de escrever e colaborar com Babyface - eu fiz minha pesquisa. Eu queria saber com que tipo de instrumento eu queria começar a música. Eu queria aquela clássica canção de amor de contos de fadas que Babyface é um mestre em criar. É como um sonho se tornando realidade. Foi uma oportunidade incrível de entrar no estúdio. Aproveite o tempo, conheça-me mais e aprenda com as lendas. Ainda é um momento incrível e eu sou tão abençoada.

Você acha que as músicas são todas histórias diferentes sobre você? Eles estão conectados juntos para que Lips on Lips conte uma história sobre Tiffany Young?

Não foi uma história específica, mas mais tudo que existe sobre mim. Eu acreditava no amor, que remonta à história da Pequena Sereia, e fugi para a Coréia. Eu estou fugindo novamente. Não fugindo. Eu me diverti muito, e eles me deixaram - minhas colegas de banda disseram: "Você falou disso." Também foi muito gratificante quando eu deixei minhas colegas de banda ouvirem "Runaway". Crescendo, eu não vi representação suficiente através da mídia. Acho que agora é o momento perfeito, porque há muita diversidade acontecendo e é lindo. Agora, mais do que nunca, estamos falando sobre força e vulnerabilidade e descobrindo que as diferenças em nós são as partes mais bonitas sobre nós. Eu queria me abrir sobre uma condição física que eu tive em toda a minha vida - escoliose grave - e como isso afeta mentalmente, fisicamente e emocionalmente. Eu queria me abrir para que qualquer pessoa que se sinta da mesma maneira, que se sinta limitada ou que uma determinada situação ou condição as esteja afastando. Ser positivamente fiel a si mesmo, corpo e alma, é a coisa mais linda. Não há mais nada. Eu queria poder dizer isso de forma muito ousada por causa do background do K-pop. Por causa do fundo asiático. Eu acho que é uma história que se relaciona com todos. Qualquer mulher ou homem, ou menina ou menino, de cor, forma, forma ou condição, o nome dela. Eu sempre quis escrever algo que fosse edificante.

Você acha que "Not Barbie" anda de mãos dadas com "Over My Skin" do ano passado?

Definitivamente faz. Eu digo isso durante o show também, mas droga, é tão bom ser mulher. Porque não se trata de agradar os outros, mas de como você quer se sentir e de ser incrível sem precisar ou querer validação de ninguém. E isso vem de encontrar auto-aceitação. E quando essa auto-aceitação chega, você celebra essas imperfeições e faz delas a sua força. "Over My Skin" aconteceu rápido porque eu estava tipo: "Estou em casa! Eu quero fazer isso." Você realmente é muito loira Barbie agora. Foi um aceno para a música?

Para mim, o que eu amo no K-pop é que ele é 50% auditivo [experiência] e 50% visual. Eu amo criar conceitos e coisas em torno disso. Eu queria fazer algo novo. Eu nunca fui essa loira platina antes, e eu acho que é uma declaração quando você está realmente sacrificando cada fio de cabelo em sua cabeça pela sua criação. Definitivamente está trazendo algo diferente em mim também. Eu acho que é o meu novo traje de super-herói. Espero que todos sejam ousados ​​e experimentem cores de cabelo diferentes.

Ocean’s 8

    The other night my brother and I went to the Carlton in Toronto to catch Ocean’s 8. I had stayed away from the film for a few weeks, I’d caught a few review headlines since it opened, dud, fizzled out, and franchise fatigue had cropped up a few times. When I first saw the publicity still last year, of all the women on the subway, I was amazed that a bunch of my favourite actresses, comedians, and pop singer (Rhianna) were all doing a film together and I put it on my list. I was pleasantly surprised by Ocean’s’8, it was a lot quirkier and funnier than I thought it would be, and occasionally I had to wipe away a tear from laughing.

    The film follows the standard heist format pioneered by post war noir filmmakers. The star, Sandra Bullock, plays Debbie Ocean (Danny Ocean’s sister), and after hatching a scheme in prison for, “five years, eight months, and twelve days,” is released and has to put together a crack-pot team in order to steal a Cartier necklace worth over a hundred-million dollars. There are the typical vignettes of Ocean assembling her team, there’s her former partner turned nightclub owner (Cate Blanchette), the hacker 9-ball (Rihanna), a kleptomaniacal fence (Sarah Paulson), the jewelry expert (Mandy Kaling), the down and out fashion designer (Helena Bonham Carter), and the street wise pick pocket (Awkwafina). Together they execute Ocean’s daring plan to steal the necklace at the Met Gala. There are a few twists and turns in the plot which brings in an insurance agent from England, played by James Corden, to find the jewels. The audience is brought into the action through a series of well timed gags and hair-raising moments of suspense.

    I’m a huge fan of heist films, there’s something about the sub-genre that appeals to me. Going all the way back to the Noir heists The Asphalt Jungle, and the French film Rafifi, I’m a sucker for a group of criminals trying to make one last big score. I wasn’t however a huge fan of the original Ocean movies, nor of the Soderbergh reboot. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised that this installment was so good and incredibly funny. It felt like I was watching an old comedy with Carol Lombard or Rosalind Russell, the comedic power of some of these actresses shines through in almost every scene. Helena Bonham Carter has some of the best reactions I’ve seen in years, her subtle head and eye movements executed just at the right time cracked me up, she wears a puzzled look on her face for most of the film which is incredibly endearing. Bonham Carter, being the veteran English actor of the bunch, even knows how to get all the mileage out of a costume during the Met gala, as she moves about in a bizarre outfit in such a way that makes it hilarious. She’s even poking fun at herself as she has been known for some odd fashion choices over the years at red carpet events. Sarah Paulson is very reserved but incredibly funny, her character, a waspy housewife, always seems to be on the brink of loosing her cool façade (she never does), and it’s fascinating to watch her play a mother role in a heist film. Some of her jokes were visual gags that were set up beautifully. The young Awkwafina gets most of the laughs as the street wise hustler, her role had the most potential for comedy, and she relishes every single moment she is on screen. She knows exactly when to hold a joke, letting in linger in the air, something most comedians don’t understand today. It’s not that you have to be funny all the time, it’s that you have to understand the rhythm of a joke. There’s a touch of Leslie Neilson or Bea Arthur in her comedic pauses.

Awkwafina as Constance shines

     Anne Hathaway steals some of the show as the vapid gum chewing movie star Daphne Kluger. Her timing is incredibly precise, she uses her gum chewing and big beautiful eyes to really sell her jokes, chewing on her pauses and delivering her lines with surgical precision. I think Hathaway needs to do more comedy outside of the schlocky rom-com type of humour that is ill fitting for her and reboot some the old Carol Lombard type plots that are entirely missing from cinema today.

    What was surprisingly nice was that the two headliners, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchette, never once took the spotlight away from someone else. They played their roles effectively and knew how to share the stage with the supporting cast allowing each of the others to grab some laughs and shine in their roles. If anything, the film was missing one good fight between Bullock and Blanchette. It would have been nice to add just a little tension between the two characters early on in the film, the should we do this scene was flat and self aggrandizing in their sisterly bond.

    Ocean’s 8 was co-written and directed by Gary Ross who’s resume includes Big, Pleasantville, and Mr. Baseball (one of my favorite cinematic guilty pleasures). He knows exactly how to set up a joke or a gag and executes it beautifully. What I found interesting is that most of the audience didn’t laugh at some of the funniest moments in the film. It seemed my brother and I, and a group of friends behind us, were the only ones who got the subtle jokes. I think one of the problems is that audiences today aren’t used to the subtly of reactions and visual gags. My favourite moment in the film is when Sarah Paulson’s character is introduced. She is living in the idyll of suburban America and making a healthy green smoothie when Debbie Ocean calls her, her son playing in the background. Answering the phone, she says, “Buddy do you want to stop that,” the threat is implied. Debbie tells her she’s in her garage and when Paulson walks into her garage there are boxes and boxes of stolen goods. It’s such a wonderful joke, that here in this perfect suburban house lies a kleptomaniacal fence. When Debbie asks her what she tells her husband about all the stolen goods Paulson replies dryly and at just the right moment, “eBay,” I couldn’t help but crack up at her delivery.

The perfect life, the perfect house, a life of crime

    The other problem plaguing the film is it’s underwhelmingly simplistic visual style. The camera moves and cuts competently enough, but the whole style is reminiscent of a de-contrasted Instagram photo or a mediocre Tumblr mood board. It’s a problem shared with a lot of commercial films these days, lackluster shadow-less vistas of muted colours that lacks any texture or depth. One thing that made last years The Florida Project so appealing was its rich palette and crisp composition, great care was taken at figuring out the mise-en-scène. It’s disappointing that the Ocean’s films, being reboots of the iconic 60’s jet set era, don’t devote more effort to their visual look. There was one sequence in a post-modern airport for a fashion show, and the occasional horizontal venetian blind wipe, but aside from that, the film looks like some washed out mediocre miniseries on the FX channel.

Strong composition, but the lackluster, and washed-out lighting renders the style bland

    Ocean’s 8 isn’t pretentious or hokey, it’s just an all female version of a heist film with some incredibly talented actresses. Checking over the box office receipts, the film is doing incredibly well this summer, and along with the Black Panther, is proving to the Hollywood establishment that you can deliver a great product with an all female cast, or a cast of people of colour, or on queer themes, and still turn a tidy sum. People want to watch a good product and they want to see themselves in the characters on the screen. Aside from a few missed opportunities to set this film apart from its predecessors, it’s a fun diversion this summer. If you’re a fan of good comedic pacing, or of any of the actresses, it’s worth the price of admission.

Quando saímos do bar ontem a noite, um homem com traços vietnamitas começou a perseguir a gente. Ficava encarando a minha irmã, seu cabelo, suas pernas, e mais outras coisas… quando parávamos em qualquer sinaleiro, ele começava a soprar a fumaça de seu cigarro na gente só pra provocar. Ele estava claramente alterado, cambaleava de um lado para o outro e esbarrava contantemente com meu pai (que estava do seu lado e eu do lado dele). Ia começar uma discussão ali mesmo, só que bem na hora que eu virei para dizer “Hey man! Do you got issues? Fuck off!”, o Matheus chegou do lado dele para trocar uma ideia. Ainda bem. Discussão não é o meu forte, mesmo com um chapadão daquele que não conseguia nem abrir a boca pra falar direito.

Ele ainda nos seguiu até uma quadra antes do hotel. Hoje eu sei que a minha irmã olhou pra ele sim, ela com a mania de ficar encarando qualquer um que tem olho puxado pra tentar adivinhar de onde é. Quando ele avançou na direção dela, meu tio entrou na frente e, só depois disso, que eu me dei conta da situação. Mas mesmo assim… um encontro de olhares da o direito a alguém de querer avançar sobre o outro? O cara estava fora de si… claramente inconsciente de seus atos. Portanto, o fato de ele agir daquela forma estava tão intrínseca a si que mesmo involuntariamente agia de forma… babaca? Ou simplesmente a droga, seja lá o que ele tenha usado, o tornou daquele jeito e conscientemente ele agiria de outra forma?

São perguntas que não posso responder, só acreditar…

-Aqui foi onde gravaram algumas cenas do primeiro X-men.

Estavamos numa espécie de casa/mansão/castelo, chamada Casa Loma. Ali gravaram vários filmes. Todo interior foi trabalhado à la século XVIII. Como diz a sábia Suelena: “eu gosto de coisa velha”, então aproveitei bastante o que a casa tinha a oferecer. Inclusive… dei minhas próprias escapadas do grupo para apreciar sozinha, mas não sumi por muito tempo.

- Venha, vai começar!

Era um curta sobre a biografia do Homem que construiu aquele lugar. Ele chegou a controlar 25% da economia canadense mas por algum motivo (dormi nessa parte) ele faliu. A mansão foi tomada pela prefeitura, que abriu portas ais turistas… tipo nós.

- Aonde fica os estábulos? É lá que eu quero ir!

- Então vamos!

Para chegar precisávamos passar por uma “passagem secreta” que, no mês do Halloween, estava toda metida a horrores desnecessários… e assim saímos. Foi um bom passeio, apesar da parte final.

Dali passamos para comer e não sobrou muito tempo para ver o ROM (Royal Museum). Apesar da passagem rápida, eu amei o ambiente e desejei ter um pouquinho mais para apreciar… o salão de arquitetura chinesa e os fósseis jurássicos foram as partes que mais gostei, além das moedas pérsicas e coleções de artigos tribais dos maias, astecas, nipônicas e muitas outras da África. Além do mais, havia duas coisas que queria ter visto com mais calma: o salão de arte moderna e a entrada, onde tinha uma exposição sobre como os museus do mundo estavam lidando com a arte exposta por eles depois do #MeToo. Essa hashtag viralizou depois que foi aderida por mulheres do mundo artístico para denunciar assédios, abusos, etc que elas sofreram no meio de trabalho. Lá tinha todo um histórico de notícias e a maneira como agora se lida com a arte dos homens denunciados. Contudo… passei rápido demais para conferir em detalhes :(

Em seguida, fomos embora do museu e, logo ao lado, caminhamos pelo campus do complexo universitário de Toronto. Como tudo na cidade, as universidades não poderiam ser nada se não um espectro temporal de arquiteturas num mesmo lugar. Várias belezas juntas e misturadas… e uma arpa.

Pela janela eu pude vê-la. Uma moça tocava uma música muda. Não podia ouvi-la, mas seus graciosos dedos dançavam com precisão naquelas cordas. Entrei em hipnose por alguns segundos, e desejei escutar o que aquela receita mágica faria com meus ouvidos…

- Bora, Amanda! Tá ficando pra traz!

E voltei a cabeça no lugar.

- Sim… estamos num bairro coreano.

- Olha, Luana! Um monte de coisa escrito em coreano! - indagou minha priminha, Marieli

- Você dançar “Idol”, Amanda? - perguntou Vitor, irmão da Marieli

- Fi… eu não danço nem forró direito! E olha lá!

Pior que é isso mesmo… da última vez eu e o menino ficamos dando piorra e ficamos tontos! Um destalento. Ainda bem que pelo menos escrever a gente escreve.

Aquele era o Poop Café, e como o nome já denuncia, é um café cuja temática é… cocô! Uma proposta é bem pitoresca, talvez por isso não tenha curtido muito… estava cheia então só belisquei os sorvetes da minha mãe e da Luana. Fiquei mais conta de escrever e pensar…

E foi assim que tirei aquela foto para aquele grupo perdido de brasileiros. Ele não pegou meu ig, não sei nenhum nome sequer, mas quando compatriotas se encontram nada disso é necessário: somos todos irmãos!

Estávamos apenas eu, o Matheus e minha avó. Passamos no Chipotle (restaurante mexicano) para comprar comida pro meu avô. Estava tudo bem normal, até um cara alto e muito moreno empurrar nosso companheiro e sair pela porta.

- Excuse me, Sir! You must pay…

A atendente não terminou a frase, e o homem saiu com uma marmita sem pagar…

- É vó… essas coisas só acontecem quando eu tô contigo!

Llegaron con 15 minutos de adelanto y para las 8:45 ya estaban saliendo, ybnos encontramos en la 5° planta. En casa para las 9:30. Mayra habia decorado la casa con carteles de bienvenida y Carlos habia pedido la pizza, con ajo, pepperoni y champiñones.... hablsron , tomaton cerveza y vino y a Ev le encanto la bandeja d3 COSTCO con guisantes en vaina, pimientos, zanahorias, broccoli y tomates $8.99 pero merecio la pena porque Ev pidio que la recibamos siempre con es band3ja d3 vegetales.

Le envie un correo electronico a Frederique Herel concerning su disponibilidad para atender a Ev y a Alex. Como regalo de cumpleños el 2 de octubre de 2019, cuando Ev cumplio 30 años, la lleve a Oakville y lw analizo la mano ese mismo dia y le gusto tanto que se la recomendo a su amiga, la que le ayudo con kas maletas cuando llego a Sydney en dic 2013.

Giant seashell features in Toronto's delayed Winter Stations 2021

Four pavilions including a giant seashell and a colourful archway have opened in Toronto as part of the coronavirus-delayed annual Winter Stations event.

Opening late due to delays caused by a coronavirus lockdown, the Winter Stations have been built in the city rather than the usual spot of Woodbine Beach on Lake Ontario.

Four competition-winning designs have been realised around the theme of Refuge for this year's event.

ARc de Blob is a pink arch decorated with pastel patterns of hearts and sunshine that visitors can walk through and stand underneath

Designed by an Austrian and UK-based team made up of Aleksandra Belitskaja, Ben James and Shaun McCallum, the ARc de Blob comes with an augmented reality app so people can also interact with the pavilion digitally.

The giant seashell was designed by an Iranian team of Shahed M Yengiabad, Elaheh M Yengiabad, Alemeh M Yengiabad and Mojtaba Anoosha.

Called The Epitonium, the curling shell-shaped structure invites visitors to stand inside one at a time and admire how nature creates its own refuges from the elements.

A sunshine pattern was painted on ARc de Blob

UK team Jack and Charlie Leather realised their winning design called From Small Beginnings.

Made from wooden shelves, the pavilion has a recessed bench where visitors can sit and take shelter. The shelves are full of tree saplings, which people are invited to take away with them to plant.

These three installations have been built in the Distillery Historic District, a pedestrianised arts and entertainment district built in an old 19th-century whisky distillery.

The fourth, called Throbber, is located on 33 Parliament Street just south of the district.

Designed by German duo Alexandra Grieß and Jorel Heid, Throbber is a rainbow-coloured wheel of socially distanced benches.

Its name and design come from the name given to loading graphics on computer software, and it was designed as a metaphor for how people's lives have been put on hold during the pandemic.

Visitors are invited to take tree saplings away with them

The pavilions will be in place until late July, with the Winter Stations organisers hoping to move them to a spot on the beach for the rest of the summer.

Normally the pavilions are built to help Torontonian's enjoy the beach even during the harsh Canadian winters.

Throbber is a circle of socially distanced seats

"The circumstances of the last year have forced us to get creative, but thankfully creativity is in the DNA of Winter Stations," said Winter Stations co-founders Roland Rom Colthoff.

"I can say that this year's launch is certainly the warmest we've ever had in the seven years that Winter Stations has been active."

Winter Stations was founded by architecture studios RAW Design, Ferris + Associates and Curio. Previous years pavilions have included a giant wind chime and a mock-up border wall with a bridge over the top.

In ihrem Vortrag stellen Katja Stuke und Oliver Sieber ihre gemeinsamen aber auch ihre Solo-Projekte vor, sprechen über das Ausstellen und Publizieren, die Entstehung von Projekten, die Beziehung von Text und Bild und die Bedeutung der Frage nach Identität in einigen ihrer Arbeiten.

Katja Stuke (*1968) und Oliver Sieber (1966) leben und arbeiten in Düsseldorf. Sie decken ein breites Spektrum an Identitäten ab: Fotograf/in und Künstler/in, Kurator/in und Initiator/in von Ausstellungen, Gestalter/in und Herausgeber/in von Künstlerbüchern. Wer sie jeweils gerade sind, wenn sie sich durch ihren fotografischen Kosmos bewegen, lässt sich nicht immer mit Gewissheit sagen. Durch ihr Werk und ihre Vermittlungstätigkeit sind sie jedoch längst schon zu Moderatoren einer bestimmten fotografischen Kultur geworden.

2017 gewannen sie den LUMA Rencontres Dummy Book Award des Festivals Rencontres d‘Arles. 2014 wurde Oliver Siebers »Imagainary Club« als Book of the Year von der Jury des Paris Photo – Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards ausgezeichnet.

Seit 2005 waren sie regelmäßig im Ausland tätig unter anderem in Künstlerresidenzen in Osaka, Tokyo, Chongqing, Paris, Chicago, Rotterdam, Sarajevo oder Toronto.

Sie hatten u.a. Lehraufträge an der FH und der TU in Dortmund, Folkwang Essen, Kunsthochschule Mainz, außerdem am European Master of Photography/IED in Madrid.

Sie kuratieren die Ausstellungsreihe ANT!FOTO in Düsseldorf und haben 2016 die Hauptausstellung der Photoszene Köln mit dem Titel »Innere Sicherheit« the State I am« kuratiert.

Eigene Ausstellungen von Katja Stuke und Oliver Sieber waren zuletzt in der Kunsthalle Gießen, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, Museum Morsbroich, Jap. Kulturinstitut Köln, Open Eye Gallery Liverpool, Kunst aus NRW Kornelimünster, Fundació Foto Colectania Barcelona, Kunstmuseum Bonn.

They inhabit a wide range of idenities: Photographer and Artist, Curator and Iniatior of Exhibitions, Designer and Publisher of artit's books. Who they are at any given moment as they move through their photographic cosmos cannot always be said with certainty. However, through their work and their mediation activities, they have long since become moderators of a certain photographic culture.

In 2017 they won the LUMA Rencontres Dummy Book Aware of the Festival Rencontres D'Arles. In 2014 Oliver Sieber's "Imaginary Club" was recognized as the Book of the Year from the Jury of Paris Photo -Aperature Foundation Photobook Wawards.

Since 2005 they have reguarlly worked abroad in artist residencies in Osaka, Tokyo, Congqing, Paris, Chicago, Rotterdam, Sarajevo or Toronto.

They have held teaching positions at the FH and TU in Dortmund, Folkwang Essen, Kunsthochschule Mainz, and also at the European Master of Photography/IED in Madrid.

They curate the exhibition series ANT!FOTO in Düsseldorf and in 2016 curated the main exhibition of Photoszene Köln titled "Innere Sicherheit" the State I am."
