I picked up a Barbie from a garage sale today on a whim and thought I would do a little post series about her. She is the first Barbie I have owned since childhood.
I am not sure exactly what she is though.
She is clearly wearing the 1997 Rapunzel Barbie dress, but she is not a 1997 Rapunzel Barbie.
She has bent arms, long but still shorter hair, and a different face.
Her head and neck look like she's been re-headed at some point, but of course I don't know if her head originally belonged to this body and has been pulled off and re-attached, or if the head did not originally go with this body.
Her hair is relatively long but not quite as long as Rapunzel Barbie, and the end is tied with a rubber band so I don't know if it was originally braided or in another hairstyle.
She has built in earrings that pull out partway but not all the way.
And the stamp on the back of her head looks like this.
Does anyone have any further ideas that can narrow her down for me?

Wanted to drop a few of my classic Barbie pieces here as well because I really liked them compiled! Currently obsessed with jjba but my tumblr account is a mess and maybe I'll drop some fanart pieces I did and gathered over the years.

I think I have solved the question of the garage sale Barbie!
She is a Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie (1995) dressed in the Rapunzel Barbie (1997) dress. I assume the dresses got swapped around possibly because someone thought long hair = Rapunzel. The yellow thread on her scalp is where her mermaid crown used to be attached.
I don’t know why she has different earrings than either Rapunzel or Jewel Hair Mermaid, but everything else tracks. Her lack of the bangs that the Jewel Mermaid Barbie has appear to be because someone gave her a haircut - there are little tufts of hair remaining.
The point that convinced me she was Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie was not just the length of her hair but that her face paint matches down to the purple-blue eyes.
She has no shoes or other accessories and her hair needs a little TLC as it’s looking a little ratty so this is bound to be an ongoing project.
