There's something worrying me...

So I've had the pleasure of being able to speak to a fair number of people on this site, in the hype and build up to the Mario Movie, most of which have shared in the excitement as I have.

And yet now that the movie is out and I've read over the reviews on here, most of them are instead verbalising their disappointment, claiming the movie has not lived up to the hype and is overall a mess.

And this concerns me so much. Talks about the movie being paced badly, the acting being bad, and various scenes and lines being cut from the trailers (which tbf this happens - movies will do this to mislead the audience, or are part of deleted scenes that end up being cut long before the movie is complete. This honestly does not bother me).

What does bother me, is that the same people who I have shared my excitement with, seem to be confirming my worst fears: that this movie is just a mediocre rubbish heap not worth the time.

I'm so scared and in fact even doubting about seeing this movie now. All the recorded clips I have managed to see online have given me so much joy; what if I watch the entire movie, and it all comes crashing down? What if it leaves me empty and sad?

I've waited so long for a Mario movie. Since I was a little kid. 20+ years, since my disappointment at the 1993 movie, I have wished for a Mario movie that would give me what I went through in the games.

I'm just scared that all this hype, all this excitement, has all been for nothing.
