Did you know that this wonderful costume worn by Jessica Brown Findlay as Sybil Crawley in the 2010 𝑫𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏 𝑨𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒚 🏰 season was worn thirty-three years earlier? 🤯 In 1977, Gemma Jones wore it as Louisa Trotter in 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒖𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑫𝒖𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕! 👩‍🍳   🔗 Who spotted this costume? Sorry I cannot post them all at once, but they will all get posted eventually. I like to space them out. One Dress a Day Challenge
May: Purple Redux
Star Trek: The Next Generation (s2e19, "Manhunt") / Majel Barrett as Lwaxana Troi
Lwaxana arrives on board the Enterprise in this elaborate, beautifully beaded robe over a sparkly lavender gown with a plunging neckline and dangling ropes of gold beads over the skirt. You can see them in motion in the side view picture above.
But hang on--that robe looks familiar. Is it ...?
Holy smokes, I think it is! "Crêpes Suzette's" robe from Darling Lili! It's even got the triangular bit hanging down from the neckline in back!

Caroline Chikezie as Lisa in Torchwood Season 1 Episode 4 - "Cyberwoman"
Thierry Mugler for Vogue Magazine (1995)
Zendaya at the premiere of 'Dune: Part Two' (2024)
After @zegalba posted photos of Thierry Mugler A/W 1995 Robot Suit and Zendaya wearing said suit at the Dune: Part Two premiere, I raced to check images of Lisa the Cyberwoman from Torchwood, thinking I had another post in the making for @recycledmoviecostumes. It is clearly not the same suit, but it is possible that the costume designer for Torchwood was inspired by the Thierry Mugler suit.

I was just rewatching the Poirot episode "The Cat Among the Pigeons" for Harriet Walter (my beloved, as the kids say), and for the first time noticed this teacup:

Now is that or is that not the famous green china from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice? Don't bother answering that: it is, based on this blog identifying the manufacturer, this site showing closeups of the pattern, and the manufacturer's website which mentions that this pattern was also used in Interview with the Vampire.
I'm too lazy to make an account on @recycledmoviecostumes, but they don't seem to have this listed in the event that someone else wants to. Although I suppose it's impossible to know if it was the same set, since the company specializes in reproductions of antique tableware and the Cornelia Green design wasn't discontinued until 1995. I've always wondered where the design came from, since it looks anachronistic in P&P -- often that means it's a real antique that just doesn't fit the modern idea of the period, but I couldn't find anything in my brief googling.

Am I correct to assume that these are the same costumes from Bye Bye Birdie being reused in The Monkees? Both were on the Columbia lot too, I believe.

In the 1975 series 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵, the episode titled 𝘋𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘺 featured Georgina Hale in this breathtaking gown as Daisy Miller. Because the show lacks a credited costume designer, it’s likely that this costume originated with an even earlier production.   The dress went on to be used again in the 1984 production of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴, worn by Madeleine Potter as Verena Tarrant.   Finally, in 1993, this costume made a brief appearance in 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 on an extra!   Where do you think this piece originated? Let us know in the comments below or on our website! Bit.ly/VicEd105

I remember talking to someone about a month or even two or three ago about this Mahidevran costume and it being used on Fahriye as well as Gülfem. Unfortunately I can’t find that conversation anymore. I have found the scenes with Fahriye now and am currently in the process of submitting this costume to @recycledmoviecostumes. I would like to credit you. So if you read this, please send me a message or comment underneath this post, so I know who to credit.

This floral gown 🌸 is an excellent example of intentional reuse within the same movie. It’s barely noticeable in its first appearance in the film, but very clever on the part of the costume designer and director. The dress was made for the 1965 film 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 🏔 🎶 and was first worn by an uncredited extra as a new postulant. ✝ Julie Andrew’s character, Maria, mentioned earlier in the film that when she entered the abbey, “all of our worldly possessions were given to the poor.” This new postulant is about to give away her clothes as she enters the abbey, just as Maria is about to leave it. ⛪ As Maria would have no clothes to go back to the von Trapp household with, she would have been given this gown upon her exit. This is never set up explicitly in the film, but it is a nice bit of storytelling happening in the background told through clothing. 👗 🌐 Who designed this costume? Find out on our website.
