Aston Villa make official complain to PGMOL over refereeing mistake in Man Utd loss
Aston Villa have lodged an official grievance to the Skilled Recreation Match Officers Restricted (PGMOL) following what they deemed a vital error by referee Thomas Bramall throughout their 2-0 defeat at Manchester United, a outcome that noticed them narrowly miss out on Champions League qualification. The controversy erupted when, with the match nonetheless goalless and Villa all the way down to…

Villa make refereeing complaint after missing out on Champions League
So, what do the Football Association (FA) laws say? Law 5 states: “The referee may be assisted by a video assistant referee only in the event of a ‘clear and obvious error’ or ‘serious missed incident’ in relation to: goal/no goal, penalty/no penalty, direct red card (not second caution), mistaken identity when the referee cautions or sends off the wrong player of the offending team.” A message…

The problem here is if a penalty is valid here then every time a referee does a similar action , which is every weekend, it need to be penalized. And what of the rule of referee prerogative. That rules is designed for one purpose to protect referees humanity from being attackable by critique.

January 7th
Day 2 of soccer tournament. The game I refereed got rough and one of the coaches had a meltdown. Adults that get in the way of the time and experience of children are one of the things I hate the most.
My sister's team lost both of their games today, but since they knew they were out of the tournament they played the last game just for the fun of it. And that game ended up being their best game! I wonder if the nerves got to them. In any case, it was a good experience for all of the girls and they seemed to have fun, and that makes it all worth it.
After I got home I mostly played Divinity 2 with my friend. My final weekend before classes start again. I didn't take any photos, so here is the shelf I put together to hold some of my figures and the series I am currently reading!

Can we talk about the attack on the Foxes and exactly how many triggers that's going to set off?
How much do you want to bet that Lane swung for Neil's ribs first because he'd mouthed off in the interview and revealed that Jean had had broken ribs? How long until Jean puts it together and blames himself for the fact that he and Neil now share matching rib fractures from the Ravens? (Neil doesn't care. He'd do it all again).
Andrew has a broken collarbone so bad it needed surgery, and he's going to have to wear a sling for several weeks. He's immobilized and unarmed (literally if he can't wear a knife on his injured arm. A knife in the armband of his working arm would do nothing because he can't draw it with one hand). And Andrew has an immense fear of being too weak to defend himself, especially with a broken bone to make him a target.
Kevin. He's finally grown a spine and this is the first time we see him literally fight the Ravens. He throws hands in defense of his Foxes, and Neil in particular, when Kevin from a year before would never have. But he saw Andrew, his protector, his shield, the man he promised he would make Court, with a hand dangling limp and useless at his side thanks to a broken bone. How many hours did it take before they got Andrew into an x-ray and saw that it was fixable? How long did Kevin stare at Andrew's limp hand, memories of Riko and his own broken bones going through his mind?
Allison was off the court, but that's the part that's going to kill her. Only she, Renee, Nicky, and the freshmen were off the court, but the freshman don't count. Allison had to watch through plexiglass walls as her team was hurt, unable to do anything to help, and she probably thought how many times is this going to happen? How many times am I going to be sidelined while my friends are hurt? how many times will I be useless in protecting them from the Ravens? (It's been one year since Seth died. Since Allison let him go out and lost him and she's never stopped wondering if things would have gone differently if she had been there that night.)
Nicky is also stuck outside the plexiglass, watching as Andrew is the first to go down. He remembers Andrew fighting for him outside Eden's, remembers how Andrew never regretted defending Nicky even when it got him put on those hated meds. And he can't help but feel like a useless guardian because he wasn't there when Andrew was attacked at Thanksgiving (he was the reason Andrew was in that house) and he isn't there now. All he can do is watch.
The Foxes have a long road to recovery and they've definitely survived worse. But with so many old scars torn open, this year might be just as rough as the last

"Laura Decker on What it Takes to Be a High-Level Fencing Referee"
"EPISODE SUMMARY
Our guest today is Laura Decker, one of the top fencing referees in the country and regularly chosen to officiate at the highest levels of national and international competition.
EPISODE NOTES
In this episode of First to 15, we're joined by Laura Decker, one of the top fencing referees in the country and regularly chosen to officiate at the highest levels of national and international competition.
She was recently the lone American referee at the 2022 Fencing World Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
Laura graduated from Caltech, where she was the first female fencer from that school to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She still competes in saber alongside her role as one of the world’s most respected officials.
In this episode, we asked Laura how she became a referee, how she keeps her officiating skills sharp and the "feedback" she gets from coaches and fencers while refereeing.
Read a transcript for this episode"
"In each episode, we’ll talk to someone interesting within the fencing world, including young fencers just learning the sport, coaches, experts from outside of fencing, fencing parents, referees, Olympians and Paralympians, and many more. Ready? Set? Fence!"
So while this podcast is obviously geared directly towards olympic fencers the fact is that most historical fencing referees and judges can find a lot of information here useful. It's worth listening to, especially for those who haven't even considered judging or those who're new to it, albeit I do think even more experienced folks may find plenty of useful reminders within it if nothing else.

The Ref Is Finally Loved
Referee:
“Everyone is an absolute nut job y’know…”
Referee:
“And here comes THE TITANS…
I swear, I always end up face-down on the canvas floor. God—just BREATHING wrong, Bald Bull sends me on a one-way flight to Istanbul.
Super Macho Man. Truly, it’s an HONOR to ref for him. After the match, his colleagues were handing out merchandise. One of them gave me a CD on ‘How to Be Totally Rad like Super Macho Man.’ I was intrigued, so I found the nearest trash can for safe keeping.
Oh, Aran Ryan… ‘one of me favorite’ boxers. That absolute— God-awful—LUNATIC. I tried to put Lucky Charms back to his corner… (ahem) I ended up in the corner instead…
As for Mr. Sandman, I don’t really have a problem with him. But I will say one thing. That man, is TERRIFYING. I’ve watched him club boxer after boxer—without breaking a drop of sweat. I don’t even know if anyone actually laid a punch on him. All I remember is how many boxers he sent to the hospital.
And when he wins—when it’s over? I’m the one who has to raise his glove. That same glove that annihilated every opponent.
Tell me—who wouldn’t be afraid?”

[After a few more minutes discussing about the other boxers, the referee takes a slow sip from his mug]

Referee:
“Strangely enough… lately they’ve been good to me.”
Doc:
“The boxers?”
Referee:
“Yeah! For some reason… ever since Little Mac beat them to the brim, it’s like they snapped out of it…”
. . .
And they all lived happily ever after 🎉
